The apartment is simple and cozy and has a perfect terrace with beautiful view. It is located in a very great neighborhood, central location making it great for exploring Istanbul.

  Comments: I can highly recommend Murats place to spend your time in Istanbul. Everything went smooth, and Murat made us feel welcome, and helped us finding concerts and good cheap restaurants. He gave us a fine direction to find his apartment, and it was so easy. We enjoyed the amazing view from his terrace every day, after walking the streets. We enjoyed that everything you need is in a walking distance, and the boats and metro are just next door, which made it easy to explore the things we wanted so see. Our meeting with Istanbul and Murat, were the best way to explore Istanbul.

  Comments: The perfect host in the perfect place! The flat is stricly as shown on photos... Murat's flat is convenient and really comfortable... And what a pleasure to have breakfast just front of bosphorus and Topkapi palace !! Murat is really Kind, helpful and easy-going. Above all, he shares all advices you need! I highly recommand this host !!!

  Comments: Murat is very easy going and we felt at home. He gave us some tips on where to go and answered any questions we had. We asked for a beer and he had some delivered to our door in 10 minutes. He and the others living in the building were very sociable and welcomed us to Istanbul with open arms. The balcony is amazing, a large selection of coffee as Murat is a bit of a coffee addict I think and in a city as big as Istanbul I think Murat could offer anything wanted or needed to make your trip anything you want it to be. We left passports, money and everything we owned in the apartment and not once worried about safety. Really good people in the apartment and we were introduced to great people. If you want a chill apartment with a huge balcony and really cool people..book it. Murat would happy welcome his flat to families but If you are younger or older and looking for a good time day or night I highly recommend booking with him. The view is amazing and a 20 minute walk to the tourist areas or the party areas with true Istanbul at your door step. cheers, Behn (Canada)

  Comments: I have recently stayed in this apartment for 5 nights. I haven't actually met the host as he was abroad then , however his neighbours were super helpful and friendly as if it is a big large family living in the whole apartment. We have been greeted by Murat's friend who lives on the lower ground. He has ensured that if I needed anything I could have always contacted him. I have had family and friends popping in and out frequently who fell in love with Murat's cats. Location is amazing and as it has been mentioned in the previous reviews, the view from the living room and the terrace is spectacular. There is everything you could ask for in the area right by the door step; supermarket, off-license open almost till morning, restaurants for all budget, souvenir shops , breakfast cafes open from 8am, bars. Trams and Busses are about 7/8mins walk as well as the boats to go to the Asian side of Istanbul. Galata Tower, Grand Bazaar, Taksim Square are some of the few walking distance places. If I have to consider one disadvantage , that would be the stairs in the apartment - perhaps if a family with a young child and a buggy would stay in the apartment or someone with an elderly, there are quite a few steps to keep your fit :) Best Wishes, Cisel (London)

  Comments: Lovely apartment, one of the nicest we've stayed in. Fantastic arty atmosphere suits Galata. We fell in love with the cats. Didn't get a chance to meet Murat as he was out of town but he was very helpful over the phone and we met his neighbour, Yaşa, who helped us into the flat. Hope to get a chance to stay again.   Comments: Great place in Galata ... next door to the Galata Tower and with nice restaurants / shops around. A fantastic view of Istanbul: Bosphore, Sante-Sophie, Blue mosk, TopKapi palace ... A must! Murat is a very nice person, very keen to give good advices. Enjoy the cats! :-)

  Comments: Your legs will pay, when you walk up to 4th floor, but your eyes will be rewarded twice, when you enjoy fantastic city view from own roof terrace. Get yourself a bottle of wine for spending time up there. Galata tower district will make for you all old Istanbul stories comes true. And yes, two cats there really makes atmosphere (pet little cat, she loves it).

My favourite part had to be watching the sunset from his terrace, with the two cats hanging around. His neighbours were super nice as well! All in all, we had a great time. Thank you Murat!

L'alloggio, fornito di tutto ciò che può servire, é tranquillo, ha una splendida terrazza da cui la vista spazia sul Bosforo e sul Corno d'Oro; il quartiere (Galata) è molto vivace, vicino a due linee della metropolitana, un piccolo supermercato è a 100 metri, in zona ci sono inoltre molti ristoranti, locali, negozi ecc, Murat è un host molto gentile e disponibile, sollecito nelle risposte. Consiglio questo alloggio e spero di tornarci!

  Comments: Great space with plenty of room for the two of us. The location was perfect for exploring Galata area and just a short walk over the bridge to go and see the bazaar, Hagia Sophia etc. The view from the rooftop was exquisite and the perfect place to have an afternoon drink and watch the sun go down. Murat was quick to respond and very helpful with any questions and recommendations. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

  Comments: Lovely and very homey flat just around the corner from Galata Tower, which is very touristy area but the street of this flat is nice and not crowded at all. The flat is on the top floor, so lots of climbing is guaranteed. The view on the balcony is worth it. Bear in mind that the balcony is not private (for some reason I thought it was). The cats are absolutely adorable and one of them loves to be caressed so much she will probably climb on your lap already on the first day. I was in Istanbul during a hot period and the flat gets very warm. There is one floor fan to cool you off but no AC. Overall a nice experience. Murat was very helpful and welcoming. The flat has all the necessities. And cats are adorable.

  Comments: I stayed with a friend in Murat’s place for 5 days. The balcony with the view over the city is incredible, potentially the nicest we had in the entire trip. The neighbors from the other flats in the building come up to sit in the balcony, and are friendly, welcoming and charming. Bearing in mind that turkey is a fairly conservative country, I think it’s worth pointing out that this building is somewhat of a liberal stronghold - so this flat would be a really good choice for women travelling alone or LGBT people, etc. The flat itself is not exactly pristine, but it’s comfortable and very well located. All the basic things are in good working conditions. Although there’s no a/c, the flat is relatively cool at night and you’ll get a good night’s sleep. Murat is a great host and very easy to communicate with. I really do recommend staying here!

  Comments: Very nice place with amazing view over Old Istanbul. One important benefit is the location, which is closed to tramway (5min walk), ferries (10min) and metro (10min). If you love cats, then you’ll be spoiled with two ! Please note that the terrasse can be shared sometimes but most of the time you have it for you (at least during my staying)

  Comments: Location is just perfect, and Galata Kitchen right in front of the apartment. Murat was very nice and met us late at night, then let us keep the luggage for extra hours. This place is for you if you love cats: these two are very talkative and are keen to hang out with you everywhere. There's a third one coming to the flat to eat free food :) It's moderately clean, but there's plenty of hot water and the terrace is great!

  Comments: We had a great time at Murat's apartment, which is wonderfully Bohemian, is in a great location in Galata (near the Tower), and has a fabulous view from the roof terrace. Of course, the view comes at a price - not money, as Murat's appt. is excellent value, but you need to be fairly fit as it's at the top of a hill and then four flights of stairs. Murat is an excellent host, and is also smoker friendly - a breath of fresh air compared to smoker hostile Britain. Non-smokers should not be put off though, as the flat is well ventilated and doesn't smell of tobacco. The cooking facilities are fine, but you probably won't want to use them much as there are so many fabulous places to eat nearby at all price levels, which, generally, are much lower than anywhere else we've been in Europe. What's more, you can just pop over to Asia where the prices are even better. Murat keeps a couple of cats, which I think are rescued street cats. They are very affectionate, seemingly flea free, and enhanced our stay. To sum up - Istanbul is amazing fun, great sightseeing, great shopping (bargain hard, but keep it friendly!), fabulous food, good local wines, very friendly, wonderfully atmospheric and, by European standards, very good VFM, but tough for anyone who is disabled. When you come to Istanbul, Murat's is the place to stay, just so long as you're ok with cats.
