Full disclosure-I found and arranged the room as well as met Cali but the room was for my friend (while Cali and her boyfriend were away on vacation). When we met briefly for keys the day before Cali was very sweet, easy going and just as expected from great reviews. My friend (and this was his first time in USA) loved the neighborhood as it's easy for exploring Manhattan and just of Central Park, building is very New York-y, beautiful pre-war with large marble lobby and very spacious apartment located on the lobby level (so very easy if you have heavy luggage and very safe). Cali was away but accessible by text and all went very smoothly. Both my friend and I were very satisfied as all was truly great-Cali, neighborhood, price and apartment! Thanks Cali!!

  Comments: The neighborhood was nice and felt safe during the night as well, we found a great Bakery around, and it's just a few blocks from 1,2,3 metro lines. It was very quiet stay. The listing was quite accurate, also this apartment is smaller than the apartment shown in the picture.

  Comments: Cali was a great host. My parents needed a place to stay for my graduation and I booked this place because it was conveniently located. Even though she was in London, she stayed in touch by messaging me and ensuring that everything was fine. Her cousin came to help clean the place. The only issue we had was that the Wi-Fi wasn't working, but because we didn't need it too much, we didn't mind. My mother did say the sheets seemed a little unclean, but I didn't seem to see anything wrong with them - overall the experience was still great!

  Comments: Great location, good value, easy access and terrific neighborhood. Just a few block walk to Seinfeld's famous diner. Cali was very attentive even though we didn't meet---she contacted us before we arrived, she and her cousin both responded quickly by text to help us figure out the WIFI connection, which, however, we weren't able to ever to connect to. Apartment seemed kind of messy, bedroom dressers were cluttered, bed not neatly made, trash can in bathroom full of trash, used towels piled up in bathroom-----I realize we were sharing it with another guest, who came and went quietly late at night, but seems like it could've been better cleaned up.

  Comments: The place has an awesome locations Cali was very nice. The location to central park and the subway are great and the little market to by groceries is wonderfull. But the room is full of their stuff is like they live there and just walk out put some new sheets in the bed and thats it. The room has all places full of their stuff there is no place to put the suitcase. I was traveling with my brother and we didnt mind it, but i would go there with my wife.

  Comments: Overall, the place was fine. Our main issue was the room itself was not very clean. The comforter was balled up in the middle of the bed. Items from under the bed sticking out. There was one towel laid flat on an ironing board and another sitting on a chair so we weren’t sure if those were supposed to be for us or not. We honestly were worried that someone had actually just slept in the bed and it had not been cleaned. The location is great - walkable and close to public transit. I just wish we could have been more sure the room had actually be cleaned prior to our arrival.

On the down side, we found the apartment cluttered with the owner's belongings and unwashed items left in the kitchen for days. Attention to cleanliness and tidyness would make an improvement to the experience for guests.

  Comments: The location is great, just a block away from subway station. And you can also take bus directly to MET. The surrounding is convenient, love the restaurant nearby. The instructions for key is terrible, and it took two hours for host to reply! The bedroom is not so tidy when we first enter the bedroom.

But there should be smarter ways to solve the key problems instead of letting different groups of guests communicate with each other to buzz others in. And the heating system was noisy but the room was warm. That's good.

  Comments: Unreachable. Checking in was odd. Was supposed to check in at 3pm and was asked around 11am that same day if I could come at 6:30pm. I was on my way into the city and needed to check in at 3pm. She said she wouldn’t be home until 6:30pm but when I arrived around 3:30pm she was home and then I left around 5:30pm and she had never left. She was there the whole day. But told me she wouldn’t be home till 6:30pm. It also took her a very long time to respond to my messages when I was trying to tell her I needed to check in at 3pm. Which was just irritating. Then she said that she would message me instructions and leave a key. I never got any instructions and when I messaged her again because I was at the apartment she said she was home and to just buzz and come up. I did get in around 3 30pm so I was grateful she let me in but didn’t appreciate the stress of her possibly not letting me in until 6:30pm. I had tickets to a show at 7pm. If this had been discussed with me prior to that very day I would’ve made different arrangements. It took her two hours almost to respond to me and every time before that at least a half hour. And I was on a schedule. She also had a family member sleeping on the couch the whole time who in the mornings took an awfully long time in the bathroom. And then my last night there Cali herself was on the couch with her family member because she had rented out both her rooms. So instead of two people there were four. Which is just too much. And awkward. When I use Airbnb I usually stay in cheaper places out in queens and Brooklyn but thought I’d treat myself and spend a little extra money to stay on the island and on the upper west side. I’ve had infinitely better stays at the cheaper places and found this to be more stress than enjoyment. It was also clear that the room I was staying in had somebody else in it when I was not there, which I really did not appreciate. The bathroom was a mess. Hair all over the place. Crumbs and other dirt on the floor of the bedroom and kitchen. It was just a mess. She’ll say otherwise about all this and I can’t help that. But I’m not picky. I always leave 5 Star reviews because i just appreciate someone opening their home for me to stay in. If it’s a messy place at least make the person feel welcome. In this particular instance I felt incredibly unwelcome and felt more like an inconvenience than a guest paying to stay at the apartment. The area was incredible though. Very close to the train with lots of restaurants and shops around. So there’s that on...

  Comments: Although she had a sprained ankle, Cali was very attentive to our needs. We came to NYC just what we needed to so we were out and about. No issues at all during our stay. The bed we stayed on had memory foam so it was very comfy!

  Comments: The place is nice and quite, but not much of the host I have to say. Do make sure to get the keys in person. My experience wasn’t that great - she left the keys in a lock on the grate around a tree on the street side, which was really hard to find with street parking and tons of trash bags around. I called twice, no answers, after standing downstairs for 20 mins she finally got back to me saying she was in a movie, and sent me a few brief directions. It was dark I can barely see anything around the tree. The trash bags were piled high around which didn’t help either. So I basically had to dig into the trash bags to search for the keys. People were giving me weird look it was quite embarrassing. Out of curtesy I texted her after getting in, to apologize I wasn’t able to keys in the first place, no response. And after I left the house the next morning, I text her that I left the keys in the room, no response again. Not quite sure if she’s purposely showing an attitude or something.

So close to the subway and any sort of shop I may have needed! I only stayed one night, but I would gladly stay again! Easily one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed in the city! Highly recommend to pretty much anyone!

  Comments: Great location on the Upper West side and the place was as expected! Cali was a great host, very nice and accommodating! There were other guests in the other room as well, but I had absolutely no problem at all with anyone or anything. Everything was clean and stylish. My favorite thing about the stay was how quiet the apartment and area was!

  Comments: Cali was super responsive and check-in and check-out was very easy. Her apartment was clean and easy. There was another person staying in the room next to us who we never ended up meeting, everything was smooth. The place did not have great natural light and felt a little gloomy but I'm sure would be great for people who close blinds at night. The only issue was that the bed linens had not been changed or apartment cleaned prior to our arrival - things we ended up having to do ourselves - but Cali was fairly clear about that from the beginning.

  Comments: Cali is a very polite host however our stay at her house was below our expectations. The check in was quick and easy, and the apartment itself is nice and in a great location close to the subway. Our issue was with cleanliness. Cali said she has a cousin who cleans for her and she wasn’t sure if he/she had come to clean yet and we would be able to find a set of clean sheets on the couch. When we got into the apartment, it was messy and there were no clean sheets and I had to go through a pile of dirty laundry trying to figure out which sheets were clean, which was a very gross experience. The bathroom was not clean and the sink and shower do not drain properly and there was hair in the bathtub and the trash was not emptied. When cali arrived the day we were checking out she did apologize and cleaned the place and was nice enough to let us keep our luggage there for the day as we ran some errands in the city, but overall, it had been the worst experience in airbnb for me mainly due to the unsanitary conditions. There was also another 2 guests staying at the apartment who were equally as frustrated and asked us to clean the hair out the shower (it wasn’t ours as we are black and it was Caucasian hair). Overall, Cali is a nice person and apologized for the condition her apartment was in, however she did not meet expectations with her hosting skills and I would hope she would not let this happen again in the future.

  Comments: A great bed in a lovely room, but Host fell down on the job this time. Getting keys was a nightmare, the bedding wasn't fresh. Trash was full when I got there and stayed full for 2 days. Never saw Cali in person. Depended on kindness of other guest to help me get in. Wasn't offered towels or a washcloth. Thank God there was another guest there to help me. No coffee available for the morning. But bed is nice, room is nice. Bathroom is a long walk down the hall. Best if you're young and fit and don't mind lugging your stuff across the street to get keys from a lockbox, and not picky about garbage being full and dirty dishes in sink and counters. I had somethong stolen because I left it out on the sidewalk while I was lugging my other luggage in through two sets of doors. Thank God it wasn't anything important!

  Comments: O lugar da Cali é bem legal! Houve um contratempo quanto ao check-in que, segundo ela, foi ocasionado pela hóspede anterior. No entanto, o quarto não estava limpo, nem a cama arrumada com lençóis e fronhas limpas. Pessoalmente tive que correr atrás para saber onde havia roupas limpas para colocar. Ela disse que foi um contratempo... se for isso mesmo, acontece e esta ok! Compreensível! Ela é simpática, atenciosa e responde por (Hidden by Airbnb) . O lugar é muito bem localizado, pertinho da Universidade de Columbia que é fantástica! Além disso é ao lado da melhor linha de metro de Manhattan pois corta a ilha de norte ao sul sendo fácil visitar NY. Também é próxima da ponta norte do Central Park! Vale a pena e indico!

  Comments: Unfortunately, the apartment was not clean, and there were no clean sheets when I arrived. Cali wasn't there since she was traveling. The couple who previously booked the room were still there when I arrived, and they mentioned that the apartment was already dirty when they arrived 5 days earlier, and there had been no cleaning service at all. They mentioned that multiple people had booked the 2 bedrooms in the apartment while Cali was out of town, so by the time I got there, both bedrooms were dirty, there were no clean sheets on the bed and the bathroom was dirty. What's worst is that Cali seemed completely unapologetic for that. Even the Airbnb support staff who reached out to her told me that she seemed unconcerned about the situation I was in. Her attitude was pretty much: "oh well, please cancel". She did not acknowledge the immense inconvenience of having to look for and book another place that same evening. Airbnb support staff tried to help me find another place but there was no where else available that same night in the vicinity for the same price range that also had an elevator (I had heavy luggage to carry). I therefore walked a few blocks to buy clean sheets and Airbnb reimbursed me for it. Thankfully, I only needed to stay 2 days in the messy apartment. The words "sorry for the mess" did not come out of Cali's mouth (via text) until the day I checked out. The apartment is in a good location and relatively spacious by New York standards, but the lack of cleanliness and painful check-in process was not worth it.

  Comments: The location was good and had easy access to the subway. However, in my experience it was just a place to lay my head. The place was a little cluttered than what the pictures showed. It also was a little hard to ever use the restroom with another couple. The guest that were there before us left dirty sheets and towels in our room which we had to remove ourselves. the bed and pillows were a little uncomfortable to sleep on and there was a clicking noise all night from the heater that sounded like someone was trying to come in the room from outside. checkout didnt go as planned. however overall experience wasnt as expected compared to other airbnbs. But truly grateful to have found this place to experience New York on such short notice.
