Comments: The best thing about this apartment is the space - it's big! Jango was there to greet us and show us around and was a great host. The apartment had only just been refurbished, and there were some items like one or two kitchen utensils that were missing, but he provided them quickly. He was always on hand and gave good advice on places nearby - shops, restaurants, etc. New washer/dryer and dishwasher; the oven is gas. Air conditioning works great. The third bedroom has no window but gives onto the living room. Very close to Delancey/Essex St subway with F line that goes straight to Midtown and J line that goes to the Financial District. All in all a great place to be for our holiday, thanks Jango!

Comments: Jango has a nice space here. It was quite comfortable for the six of us. And Jango was helpful, prompt, and available as needed -- an excellent host. We were pretty much out and around all the time and just used it as a place to sleep at night, so I can't comment on use of the kitchen. It's an enjoyable neighborhood, with places to eat close by and a variety of transportation options. The stairs weren't a problem for us. The air conditioners worked well. It was enough above the street not to be too noisy at night. It's definitely not for those who want something fancy. The furniture is basic and the floor is creaky. But it served our needs perfectly and was a very good value. There was lots of space both in the bedrooms and public living areas. I'd happily stay there again.

Comments: We loved our stay at this apartment! Jango was a very gracious host: helpful, friendly, patient, respectful of our time and privacy -- delightful. The apartment is exactly as pictured on this site. The three beds were very comfortable. (The sleeping space is much more appropriate for 3-6 people. We made it work with 8, but it wasn't ideal.) We were also happy with the location: the area is vibrant, with many quaint stores and eateries. On our first night, we were thrilled to find fabulous pizza slices a few doors down and a lovely market around the corner. We traveled with school-age children, so we didn't take advantage of the area's many bars...we feel like we missed out just a little. The apartment is a close walk to the subway (a short block and a half? Quite easy) and Jango gave great directions from the subway station to the apartment. My travel companions all wanted to share accommodations for our trip, and we felt this was a good choice for the price in Manhattan.

Comments: Jango is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome in NYC. The flat was as described: roomy, good beds, comfortable, well decorated, with all things necessary to make our stay very enjoyable! Although everything was fine, the finishing is quite average and the flat would need some work in my opinion. With this being said, Jango was great and even guided me to his free on-street parking space when we checked in and we could leave the car there for free for 3 days! We were travelling with our three young boys and there was ample space for everyone. It was very hot in NYC during our stay and the flat has more than enough AC to cool the place down. The flat's Lower East Side location is fantastic in a very special way and totally worth discovering. Essex market right across the street, subway is minutes away, awesome restaurants next door, public swimming pool a walk away, Nolita, Little Italy right there! We had an awesome stay, thank you Jango! Note that this is NYC, so there is always a buzz, with background noise, but who travels to NYC for peace and quiet?

Comments: We had a lovely stay at Jangos place. It is a big apartment where everything worked out good. Maybe a little bit noisy in one of the bedrooms but it is New York... :) Jango also gave us excellent information and service. We are very satisfied. The neighborhoud is just perfect, especially if you are not visiting the city for the first time. Lisa

Comments: Jango was very nice and helpful. The apartment is very nice, great location. There was just one terrible night when the people above us had a party until 3 in the morning. Unfortunately the sound isolation is rather bad. Everything else was great though.

Comments: We had a great stay at Jango's place! The flat is *huge* for Manhattan -- we were a party of 7 adults and we had plenty of space. The living room was even large enough for us to all sit comfortably, and the bedrooms actually have furniture (i.e., they're bigger than just the size of the bed!). The apartment was clean and well-appointed with anything we needed. It looked exactly like the pictures and description. The location is perfect, especially if you want to focus less on tourist attractions and more on getting to know Manhattan. The subway is a few blocks away, and we found a great basement cocktail bar and a few late-nite pizza spots on the block. It's an easy walk to the East Village, Alphabet City, St Mark's, Soho, Chelsea, bridges to Brooklyn, and even Midtown. Jango was a great host! He met us personally to let us into the flat and show us around. He was incredibly accommodating, responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I will note that the flat is in an old building, like many in New York, and the walls are thin and the floors are creaky. Noise from within the flat and the other units (including a bar/club on the ground floor) traveled pretty freely through the building. This wasn't a big deal for us, since we were out late and sleeping hard, but if you have very light sleepers, early to bed/early to rise-ers, or small children in your party, it's something to be aware of. Overall, I would definitely recommend Jango as a host and this flat as a home base for your NYC adventures. I would absolutely stay here again!

Comments: Jango's loft was just as described, maybe even better. It is the most spacious apartment I have ever seen in Manhattan. It easily sleeps eight people with comfort. Jango was super helpful and everything was just perfect. The market across the street was perfect to buy some groceries to make breakfast or pack a lunch for your day. We really appreciated that there was lots of Lower East Side nightlife walking distance from the loft - great neighbourhood (if a little gritty) and lots of friendly folks around on the street all hours of the day or night. We felt safe and looked after the whole time. A++ listing. We highly recommend and this will be our new NYC home every time we visit.

Comments: Jango was very welcoming and met us at the flat with the sets of keys as well as showing us around. The flat is in a great area - much more 'real' than west village and other places I've stayed in NYC but still absolutely safe and loads to see and do. The flat was warm (it was -1 outside) and had everything we needed including a great shower. I would definitely stay there again.

Comments: Jango met us at the apartment on our arrival and helped us up to the 4th floor with all our luggage. He was extremely helpful throughout our stay allowing us to check in early and also leave our luggage till 3 o' clock on the day of our departure. The apartment was well equipped, clean, spacious, comfortable and satisfactory in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in New York

Comments: It was amazing. Great amount of space especially for NY! Close to the subway and located right in the middle of a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars. We all loved it! Only small thing was that the neighbors upstairs tend to be a bit heavy footed while running around. But didn't wake us at all! Def a place to consider again when taking the whole family

Comments: Jango's apartment was spacious and comfortable for our group. It happened to be super hot during our stay, and the AC worked great for the got week we were there. It's worth noting that one bedroom doesn't have its own AC unit. The neighborhood is fantastic. Walkable and easy to grab anything within a few blocks. It can get loud outside during the day (and night) but it's all within reason for a dense NY street. Jango was very attentive to our needs and was always helpful during our stay. Would definitely stay again.

Comments: Jango's place was exactly what we were looking for. We could easily fit 6 people in the 3 different bedrooms. Jango was responsive and very helpful. I recommend this place for anyone with a big crew who need lots of space. Some things to note is that there are lots of stairs (4 floors) and the floor squeaks a bit.

Comments: Jango's place is perfect for a group visiting New York and wishing to have a true downtown experience. Very comfortable living arrangements, and very conveniently located, and Jango was a very gracious host with plenty of recommendations and great communication both leading up to and during the stay at his apartment. Would highly recommend his apartment to anyone considering downtown New York.

Comments: Nice apartment, really spacious and appropriate for a large family group (we were 5). The position of the apartment is also excellent, close to metro, grocery, a nice market across the street and many restaurants and bars in a very animated area, a bit noisy particularly during week-ends. We really enjoyed our visit to New-York and Jango was excellent with us.

Comments: We stayed at Jango's apartment for one week and Jango has been a great host, helping us with our luggage and showing us all the facilities of his apartment. The apartment is exactly as depicted in the pictures although it could be a bit repainted here and there. It was big enough for our group of five people and the washing machine and dryer came in handy to wash our clothes. The apartment is located in a dynamic neighborhood which is full of bars so we had trouble to sleep at night since there was a LOT of noise in the street until 3-4 am. If you are traveling with a group of young people and like to go out then this apartment is the perfect spot. However I would not recommend it for families with young children. Thank you Jango for your welcome, overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our week in New York. Cheers from Brussels!

Comments: Jango was a great host! He helped us with our luggage when we arrived and when we left, and was very accommodating when we told him our train was delayed. The place was perfect for two families with young kids. Close to the subway and grocery stores, which was nice. Thanks Jango!

Comments: We stayed for 6 nights and were very pleased with the apartment. It was as described and indeed comfy and large. The three bedrooms were all very comfortable and spacious with plenty storage and hanging space. The living area was large and had plenty seats for all 5 of us. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower, although the water did take a while to heat first thing of the day. We did not use the kitchen a lot but the presence of a washing machine and tumble drier was very welcome. All in all the apartment was well furnished and very comfortable. The neighbourhood was a mixture of local shops, eateries and bars and not too noisy at night. There are plenty restaurants in the vicinity including the famous ( but expensive) Katz Diner. The entrance to the building is small and there are 4 flights of stairs to climb to the flat, although there is a service lift for luggage, which was great! There is a subway station nearby but you can walk to many downtown attractions if you are keen.(Hint: if you are staying for 6/7 days a 7 day pass on the subway is worth the $30 charge) Jango was an excellent host who was there to greet us and came over on our departure day to help with luggage. We had a slight problem with the internet first day which was outwith his control but he kept us updated on the progress to restore which happened on the second day. He was very helpful and even invited us to stay an extra 2 days free of charge!! Unfortunately our flights back to the UK had been booked for some time. I would certainly recommend staying here for comfort and can highly recommend Jango as a host

Williamsburg bridge is only 5 minutes away and perfect for a morning walk or run. The apartment is very spacious and has all the amenities you'll need. Jango was very helpful and always easy to reach if we had any questions.

Comments: Jango met us at the apartment. We felt very welcomed, and Jango is a good host. The apartment is big, and we were 7 people there for 6 nights, and never felt crowded. Jango keeps it very well equipped with a lot of things, and we felt so pleased with this! Also the kitchen is of very good standard ! The location of the apartment is absolutely good. Walking distance to a LOT of the downtown places of interest, and also bus and metro stops only a couple of minutes away. Lots and lots of bars and restaurants nearby! We were absolutely happy about our stay here, but if I have to mention something negative, it would be that it can be a bit noisy especially at weekends, since the outside isnt so well isolated, and there are some bars and Essex street right outside. The stairs up is allready mentioned in the ad, and for us it wasn't a big problem. I mean, you won't be walking them up and down all day:-) The floors of the apartment are very squirky, but hey, it's an old building. We would definately stay here if we come again.

Comments: We had a great stay at Jango's apartment. On first impressions we weren't quite sure as the front door and stairwell are not super welcoming, but don't let it worry you! The apartment was huge for NY and just what we needed. A reasonable price in a great location, with space for 6 women who were in NYC for a Christmas weekend away. Loads of fantastic restaurants nearby - Root & Bone for dinner, and Remedy diner and Clinton St Baking for breakfast were our favourites. Thank you Jango and Cengiz!

Comments: Jango is a friendly and welcoming host. However, six nights out of eleven we had little sleep because of the noise in the apartment directly below, or on the first floor, or above. We slept with ear plugs for the street noise but still felt the music vibrations through the building. It seems that the apartment directly below is not a residence but a party venue with very loud music. Jango's apartment is large and the kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom very serviceable.

Comments: We had a great week in this central location which is also close to the subway. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with everything you need. There is a 24 hour shop, a market and a wine store to hand. There are bars and restaurants in the street which makes a lively buzz. 6 of us stayed so there was sometimes a wait for the bathroom., as there is no separate toilet. I would come again!

Comments: Jango is a perfect host and the flat is large and a perfect start to explore Manhattan and the rest of New York. Essex street is quit busy so Friday and Saturday become a little louder. Three bedrooms make it the right spot for a family of four. We hope to be back soon.

Comments: We. (3 couples) just spent 5 nights at Jango's place. We loved it. It was spacious and clean. Jango left us coffee beans and a grinder and we loved that. We are serious coffee drinkers. There are three bedrooms all with queen size beds, an eat in kitchen, a dining room and a comfortable living room- just as the listing suggests. The location is convenient with plenty of restaurants and stores and the best is the Essex Market right across the street. It is a large open space market under one roof- European style. A subway stop is at the end of the block. Just remember though - there are four flights of stairs and no elevator- not a problem for us- but for some it could be.

Comments: Jango was incredibly helpful in facilitating check-in and out for our stay. The space is huge and easily accommodated the number of guests we had. The rooms are big and light filled. One thing to note is that there is a four floor walk up to the apartment. The location is lively and right in the middle of the Lower East Side next to lots of shops, restaurants, markets in a high-traffic area.

Comments: Great location! Great apartment! Great host! Jango was a nice and friendly host, who kindly stuck around an extra couple of hours following an unexpected delay at the airport to show us around the apartment late at night. He was only too happy to do so and explain everything we needed to know in detail. On our last day Jango also allowed us to leave our luggage past the original 11am check-out time whilst the apartment was being cleaned, until we needed to leave at 8pm for our 11pm flight. So we were able to enjoy a whole day exploring NY further without having to drag suitcases around - which was a HUGE help. The spacious modern apartment was nice and clean, and in a great location with lots of cool bars and restaurants all in short walking distance, as well as the subway. It was the perfect apartment and location for us five fellas on our mini-holiday from the UK.

Comments: Great apartment in the Lower East Side of NY and close to a subway stop. Property is quite big and exactly as described. If staying on a weekend bring ear plugs for the front bedroom which I had already read on other reviews so no surprises and hey its New York. Jango was very easy to deal with and met us on arrival and departure which was great. Definitely recommend staying here.

Comments: This is a spacious but not flashy apartment in an area which is definitely not up market but which has a good selection of eating places nearby and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Jango was a friendly and welcoming host, and everything in the apartment worked well. Only niggle, which is made clear in the advert, is the three flights of steep stairs. I would also say that the stair area, which is shared with other apartments, could do with a lick of paint! But generally this is a good value clean space to base yourself in.

Comments: Jango was a great host and the apartment was perfect for my friends and I. We arrived on Thanksgiving afternoon 2017, but it was still no problem meeting up with the host and getting the keys and a quick tour of the apartment. Each of us got our own room which was perfect. The apartment is definitely on the larger side for a NY apartment. Communication with Jango was always quick and thorough. Unlike my previous AirBnB in NY, this apartment had PLENTY of towels. Large ones, small ones, and medium sized ones. None of us had to use the same towel twice and there were still many more unused. It was great. And the host was flexible with our late checkout request. Keep in mind that this apartment is on the Lower East Side so it's not going to be super quiet. If that's what you're looking for, you probably shouldn't stay in the LES period. I would highly recommend this place.

Comments: We couldn’t really fault Jango’s apartment. It was exactly what we were looking for! Jango himself is a fantastic and clear communicator. Thank you! *the lower east side neighbourhood is fantastic! Eateries on every corner, around the corner from the famous Katz deli, bars, shops. Yet has a different feel - more ‘real’ new york to the upper east sides. *walking distance to Chinatown, little Italy, east village, Chelsea, Washington Square Park and more! *2 min walk to the uptown subway lines! So easy!! *2-3 min walk to any subway line actually. 4 stops to 34th street, 5 maybe to Central Park/ Rockefeller. No time at all! *spacious, 3 bedroom loft. Huge actually! Just as noted in Jango’s pictures and description. All beds extremely comfy and well made up. *fully functional kitchen *it is important to note that there are 4 flights of stairs when thinking about getting your luggage up or small children - we did it no hassle and am sure most will be able to if in a fit enough state. *it can be a little noisy (from above apartment or the bar below) but it really didn’t bother us! It’s nothing unbearable but worth mentioning for people wanting complete silence. There were 3 couples staying in Jango’s place and it really made our stay! Such a cool place and area of New York City. We could have spent weeks more here! Thank you jango!

Comments: The department is perfect. The location is excelentt! In one of the most entertaining neighborhoods of Manhattan, between bars, shops, subway nearby, etc. Between the East Village and the Lowe East Side, a few meters from China Town! Jango, responded easily, very cordial and helpful. Always available to help. The apartment is very independent and is as it appears in the photos. It has a very well equipped kitchen to make a comfortable stay. This is the best Airbnb I've had. I would definitely go back to the Jango apartment! They will not regret it.

Comments: This apartment was a great place for a large group. Really spacious rooms and close to really great restaurants and bars. It isn’t the quietest place to stay but NY is the city that never sleeps- nothing a pair of earplugs won’t fix! There is a 7/11, union market and the Essex Street market all within very short walking distance. We also ate at some great places all within close walking distance of the apartment including Russ and Daughters, Lombardi’s, Char Sue, Cafe Mogador, Balvanera, Remedy and Katz’s Deli. A great area with very easy access either on foot or on the subway to all the sights and experiences in NYC. We got a taxi from JFK to the apartment on arrival but braved the subway and Airtrain on our way back which was absolutely fine (only one change). A great experience all round. Jango was quick to respond to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

We all had an amazing time in New York due mainly to staying at this apartment. We loved the location, the spaciousness, the decor and the assistance Jango gave us when we needed it. We will definitely stay at this apartment when we return to New York and will recommend Jango's place to all our family and friends back in Australia. We miss LES already.....we were all very comfortable and happy living the New York life in this space. Ampliamente recomendable!

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay in this classic walk-up Lower East Side apartment. We loved the vibrant locale - lively yet relaxed. The flat itself is very well equipped, with its own unique and functional furnishing style. It has loads of space available for storing your stuff - clothes, toiletries and food, and was lovely and clean. We liked the AC and the powerful fan in the bathroom. The beds were comfy too. Yes it could be noisy outside, but hey, this is a funky area of central NY, and it was nothing we couldn't cope with. Jango was an excellent host, speedy at communications, with helpful local advice, and also kindly allowed us to keep our bags at the flat on the day we left, which was so useful as we had a late flight.

Comments: The seven of us really enjoyed our stay at Jango's apartment. This is a great apartment for a larger group, very spacious and relaxed a great haven at the end of a hard day exploring. We all brought earplugs with us, but none of us used them in the end, and it was nowhere near as noisy as we anticipated. The range of food options within walking distance was excellent, as was accessibility to the subways and general sightseeing. The Essex Street Market across the road quickly became a favourite place to stock up on breakfast things and snacks each evening as we came home from exploring. The apartment was well provisioned for cooking at home, there were plenty of extra towels and amenities generally. Thanks Jango for making our stay so comfortable and easy!

He’s flexible on things like dropping off luggage. He responds almost instantly to questions and gives thorough and thoughtful answers. His website description of his place and amenities is spot on. In short, Jango’s a great host! Some observations on the place itself: - Spotless cleanliness - All the amenities you’d need - Especially a very nice kitchen, well supplied - Flexibility of accommodations; for example, a high chair and crib are there - Very convenient to a grocery store and subway stop, both about 1-1/2 blocks away - All guests felt very safe - Tips supplied on cool stuff to do locally We’d certainly stay here again. Comments: We’ve had a great stay at Jango’s place. It’s very spacious and clean. The beds are small but comfortable. Comments: This is a very spacious apartment in an older style property. There are 3 large double bedrooms, a large living dining room and a kitchen with dining table. The location is great for bars, restaurants and local hipster boutiques. There are also loads of playgrounds so both the adults and kids in our party were happy! The metro is at the corner of the street and we felt very safe in this neighbourhood as well as close enough to both downtown and midtown. I would stay here again just for the location. The only minor downsides are there is only one bathroom, there are 3 flights of stairs and the main road is a little noisy. But for the space and location you’d be hard pressed to do better. Jango was also very good at communicating and very kindly allowed us an early check in and late check out so we were very grateful for that!

Comments: Jango's place was great. It was conveniently located and an easy 15-20min to get anywhere else. Only thing is that there is a hookah bar below us, so it gets really noisy on a Saturday night. But other than that, the value and location of the place was great. Jango is a text/phone call away and he was able to accommodate our bags being left at his place when we had an early flight in and late flight out.

Comments: Overall, we had a nice 4-night stay over Thanksgiving Weekend. Jango was very responsive and met us when we checked in and let us use the freight elevator to bring our luggage up to the fourth floor. He offered it again when we left but we did not need it. The apartment looks just the photos and has all the amenities as listed and it is convenient to the metro, stores, LES, etc. Jango was also quick to respond to our loss of internet one evening (ended up being a cable company service problem) that was fixed by next morning. The apartment floor is 'spongy' and it squeaks. There is an apartment above this one and you can hear the movements from above. For two nights, that apartment played music late at night and one could hear the bass thumping. We brought this to Jango's attention and he said he would contact them which he must have done because we did not hear the music for the remainder of our stay. It should be noted that there is a Hookah bar on the first floor and one can smell that scent in the downstairs stairwell and that the smell rises into this apartment over the course of the night, especially if the bar is busy. In addition, there is music coming from venues behind the apartment, particularly the sounds of bass thumping, that you can hear in the back bedroom late at night.

Comments: Jango’s place exceeded our expectations. The place is very big (rare in NY) and located in a great spot that is accessible via the subway to other touristy spots. There are also plenty of places near the apt to grab drinks and dinner. The place itself has a washer/dryer/dishwasher which is useful during a longer stay. Jango himself was awesome- he was very communicative and we felt we were in great hands! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the place.

Comments: If you stay here, be prepared for the Hooka lounge on the first level. The noise was unreal. There is a loudspeaker, music and people yelling out in front until 3am. We had that 3 nights in a row because we stayed Sunday night before MLK day. If I would have been forewarned - I would have no problem because I would have been prepared / or not booked it. The location is amazing & Jango is very friendly and communication was excellent. The photos are deceptive. Looks bright and airy. the pictures must have been taken 10 years ago, because paint is warping, the lighting is awkward (have to go into someones bedroom to turn on and off the light in the living room), musty drapes etc... With that being said, there really isn't much alternative if you are traveling with 3 couples and are staying more than 3 nights - so I recommend under certain circumstances.

Comments: Nice place to visit New York City, everything is quite close and the appartment is big . There is everything needed at the apartment ! The only bad point was the noise in the room just in front of the street, it’s like there are no windows. Good only for heavy sleepers ! Apart from that i recommend this place !

Comments: This is a large apartment with three good sized bedrooms. The apartment is located a short walk from the subway and the area is colourful but not dangerous. The apartment was very clean, and we were happy find it nice and warm in a sub-zero New York. Be careful of the floorboards which gave us splinters - do not walks around barefoot! The floorboards also mean that you will hear people walking overhead which can be confusing. The stairwell is scruffy and not as well looked after as the apartment itself. There are lots of stairs, but we got used to them. The only problem can be that the lift to the flat is only available if Jango is there so make sure you co-ordinate with him to avoid carrying your luggage. The host, Jango was responsive and helpful. He had to sort out both the blocked toilet and the Wi-Fi within the first 24 hours and responded quickly in both instances. He also let us leave our luggage I the apartment until our late flight which was a real help.

Comments: Overall a bargain in Manhattan for such a big space! We traveled as 2 parents, 1 toddler and a grandparent for a wedding weekend. The 3 floors to walk-up are tall floors so if unable to use the elevator for check in/out, be prepared. The space was clean and fairly accurate to the pictures. The floors were a little more worse for the wear than I expected from the pictures or description. My toddler crawled on them but we avoided having him on the bare wood as much as possible to avoid splinters. Unfortunately, the weekend we were there, the bar downstairs was very busy and at 4 am on Friday, the bars in the area must have closed because it sounded like the entire bar was outside our window shouting. We (the parents in the group) were in the front room facing the street and did not sleep well any night. I saw this in reviews but some said they didn't hear anything. I guess it just depends on the weekend. Luckily, our toddler was in the room with french doors which was located in the center of the apt, away from the outer walls. My mother-in-law in the back bedroom heard thumping from music late at night but did not have loud voices to deal with. Overall she didn't have major noise issues. Another factor to the bar downstairs is the smell. Fortunately, a very minimal amount of the hookah smell made its way into the apt. My mother-in-law has very sensitive smell and didn't have issues. You could smell it walking by the door but otherwise it was fine. Once you stepped into the hallway, the smell was much stronger. Also, the smell of tequila/liquor at the bottom floor in the morning was quite strong. Overall, the place is a great value and I would recommend it to a group looking for a budget-friendly place to stay in a good neighborhood. Be prepared with earplugs if you're in the front room.
