Neighborhood Overview: The house is located on a very quiet country road. The house is on 2 acres of land at the end of the road. Enjoying sunsets on the beach with a glass of wine is a common nightly affair for the people living around this area of the North Shore and guests are encouraged to adopt this habit for themselves : )
Notes: Mark's doggie, Kuma, frequently hangs out. He is very friendly, but plays watch dog when new guests arrive and may bark a little to greet you the first time. He never bites and, again, is quite friendly and loves human interaction. He is a very nice Shepard/Chow mix who loves walks and activities of all kinds. He is a shared dog with his Mom owner keeping him half the time down the street. Dog lovers are more than welcome to go for a walk with him whenever they like. For those with small children, Kuma does not like children putting their hands in his face and mouth and will growl or bark with displeasure so please be mindful with small children. For those unfamiliar with the tropics, you might see a friendly gecko from time to time inside and out. They help guard against insects and bugs so we actually don't mind them around.
Transit: There is a bus stop down the road and bikes right outside the back door. The famous Pipeline surf break is walking distance and Sunset Beach is too, just a bit further away. Foodland (groceries), Shark's Cove (snorkeling), Waimea Valley and many many beachs, and many fantastic beaches are a bike ride away. Lots of food trucks to choose from around the area (especially near Foodland) and lots of great restaurant choices in Haleiwa town (about 10 minutes south by car). The Turtle Bay Resort is only about 10-15 minutes north by car and offers some fantastic restaurants (Lei Lei's is one of our favorites). And don't miss the Pool Bar for a sunset with free live music nightly.
Access: Guests have their own private entry from the sliding glass door on the deck. The door is left unlocked for your arrival and comes with a digital door lock for when you are there in the unit. The guest living room is furnished with a microwave and fridge. The area is plenty spacious for 2 people. There are many choices of food places around with the Turtle Bay Resort and Haleiwa Town only 10-15 minutes away (with no traffic) and delicious food trucks and Foodland about 1/2 mile away. Bikes (two) are available to guests and we encourage guests to go out for a ride on the bike path that runs up and down the coastline. Guests have their own deck to enjoy an outside lounge and enjoy the solar tree lanterns as they light up at dusk. *** Future guests, please note that detailed check-in instructions are included in the confirmation email sent by AIRBNB after you book the space. Please look for it to be sure that you received it. THE CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS ARE LOCATED IN THE "ITINERARY" SECTI
Interaction: There is only one other occupant, Mark, who lives on the other side of the house. The house itself is at the end of a quiet street and is a perfect oasis after a long day of playing on the north shore. There is always respect for privacy and Mark is frequently away or quiet in another part of the house. The best way to communicate with Mark while staying at the house is by text.

Comments: My husband and I stayed one night here. The description was very accurate - the place is cozy and quiet. We were pleasantly surprised that a private sitting room was also included (we expected just a bedroom and bathroom). The room included a couch, coffee table, a large TV (which we did not use so I cannot comment on it) along with a fridge and microwave. Mark made us feel welcome and let us borrow his bikes. We biked to sharks cove and it was wonderful. Lots of food trucks by the sharks cove (we had Thai and it was excellent for a good price). Our phones did not work, so Mark kindly let us use his landline phone. All in all it was a nice relaxing getaway.

Comments: During my short stay I found Mark to be a very nice host. The house and neighborhood were very relaxed. The room was clean and comfortable and there was a very nice living space (with TV and so forth) on the side of the house reserved for guests' use. Most crucially, Mark's house is a very short walk to the beach and it is very quiet at night.

Comments: We were really happy with our stay at Mark's--He was a great host! We were surprised and pleased to walk into a beautifully decorated living room space with a nice bathroom and bedroom attached. There was a convenient microwave and mini-fridg with dishes and utensils provided. We were just a short walk from the beach too! Mark had bikes for us to borrow and we enjoyed riding around the North Shore area. The outdoor shower was a bonus allowing us to rinse and get the sand off before going into the house.

Comments: Place was great. It was an excellent location and best of all, the room was air conditioned. After sweating all day, we got to have a great night's sleep.

Comments: Mark was very friendly, easy going and helpful offering us bicycles to cycle around with and a cooler for the beach! The room is perfect for two people, clean with its own bathroom for the guests and AC in the bedroom. It was a fantastic place for a fantastic trip away from the busy touristy areas of Oahu.

Comments: Our stay with Mark was peaceful, quiet and private. For anyone who is a light sleeper, he has a wonderfully peaceful spot. It's a great mostly self contained, private apartment for 2-3 people he has in his house. It has a nice TV room with midsize fridge and microwave in the front with a comfy couch. The bedroom is in the back with a bathroom between the two rooms. The entry is through the back door of his house through the kitchen and into the apartment which it's separated by a door. Mark is very nice, considerate and in touch just to message a "hi" or if you have a question or need. We only got to briefly meet Mark the night before we were leaving as we were only on the island of Ohau for two days and out later into the evening both days. He has a great place to stay on the North shore, only 45 minutes to the airport and a close drive to other great sights. We would for sure stay at his place again!

Comments: A fantastic experience, start to finish! The location is great - a 5 minute walk from Sunset Beach. The accommodations couldn't be nicer - a private bedroom (with a window air conditioner), a sitting room with a couch, a TV, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a bathroom. There's a front porch with a table and a couple of comfortable chairs that we spent quite a bit of time on. The best part is your host, Mark (and his dog, Kuma). Mark goes out of his way to make you feel like family; he has bikes and beach gear that he welcomes you to borrow and, while his kitchen is not included in the rental, he was happy to let us use it when we needed something other than a microwave for our leftovers. This rental is truly a gem, (and I hate to clue Mark in) underpriced. Grab it if it's available; we intend to do so on our next trip to the Island.

Comments: We had a great time staying at this serene location! Just a quick stroll to the beach, gorgeous surroundings, quiet and peaceful - exactly what we were looking for! Mark made us feel very welcome and was easy to communicate with. Gave us some great tips for places to go during our couple of days on Oahu. So glad we had the opportunity to stay here and would happily choose it again!

Comments: Our stay with Mark was great. Everything was clean and Mark was awesome. We used his bikes and snorkelling gear which was really handy. My boyfriend loved his dog and enjoyed playing with him. Mark's place is in the perfect location and is super close to the beach, food trucks and foodland. We will definitely be back next year.

Comments: We had a great stay at Mark's place. He was very patient and understanding as we were trying to finalize the stay while we had limited internet access. Once we arrived at Mark's everything was exactly as described and he was a great host. He even had bikes and snorkel gear that he would let us use free of charge! Couldn't be happier with our stay! If you want a great place to stay within a bike's ride of some of the best surf spots in the world this is the place to get!

Wirklich empfehlenswert!

Comments: Marks place is the perfect AIRBNB stay! Mark is a great host that fills you in on the local secret details, offers up some extras like bicycles with a lock and he cuts you loose with ultimate privacy. There is an awesome porch with a great view for an evening glass of wine with a friend complete with string lights. Oh... oh... you have to try the outdoor shower! A true sense of freedom on a private dead end street. The place is very clean and I really enjoyed the sense of Mana! Thanks Mark!

Comments: Very nice setup. There is a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area equipped with a coffeemaker, mini fridge, and microwave. The owner left toiletries and fresh towels, and even has plates and cups for your use. You can hear the beach at night and see every single star in the sky. Bonuses: free parking, borrowing snorkeling gear and boards, the scent of plumeria from the tree outside, and cute orange geckos outside the house at night. Super comfortable and 1000x better than the hassle in Waikiki.

Comments: My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and it was perfect! Mark had two bikes available that we used every day to go snorkeling at the nearby beaches. The place itself was really cute and well-furnished: beach towels, microwave, fridge, Brita filter, coffee machine plus coffee, and even some microwaveable popcorn (even though I was too full everyday to have any). Definitely would stay here again!

Comments: We flew standby and Mark was very understanding when we had problems arriving. Once we arrived, Mark was very kind and personable. He showed us his new baby lamb and we spoke for a bit about Hawaii and the things he liked to do. His snorkeling gear was awesome. His place is a block from the beach and private enough to sleep with the windows open and not be disturbed. Neat native experience! ...and the North Shore is the best beach!

Comments: Mark's property was exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for during our stay on the North Shore. The cozy little suite had more than enough room for us to relax and chill out after our active days in the surf. It was super quiet being at the end of the street too. The bed was really comfortable and the shower had great pressure. Having the bikes there to use for FREE was great. It was about a 5 minute leisurely ride up to Food Land and less than 2 minutes ride to check out Pipeline (which was quite an epic sight at 8 foot while we were there). there was also snorkelling equipment and body boards to use at our leisure which was really convenient. The wifi was great an the apartment has a smart TV. We didn't actually see Mark while we were there, which made it feel even more private. The instructions for the property on our confirmation were great and made it super easy to check ourselves in and out. The apartment was super clean and easy to keep clean. It had plenty of natural light and screened windows for great cross air flow. It had ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room, which is all we needed, but there is also an air conditioning unit if it gets warmer. All in all, this property was amazing and we were very impressed. We would definitely stay here again. Great value for money! Thanks Mark.

Comments: Comfortable, affordable, quiet accommodations in a private home with friendly but non-intrusive owner in a great North Shore location within walking distance of Pipeline and Sunset beaches. Unbeatable for the price; big cable TV, free wi-fi, beach towels, snorkel gear, even bikes provided for your use. Close to Foodland for groceries ( we made use of the microwave, refrigerator and coffee thoughtfully provided). And close to Ted's Bakery for chocolate haupia pie.

Comments: My overall experience of Marks home was great. I grew up in Hawaii so I'm familiar with this older style Hawaiian home. I loved that it was breezy and it was a walk away from sunset beach. Mark gave us our privacy and the residence is quite peaceful. The only drawback for me was the ants. Mark had let me know that they appear in the home when it rains, so I recommend staying there when sunny weather is predicted. Great air bnb! Would recommend to couples.

Comments: We had a fantastic time staying at Mark's place. He was away the first half of our stay but was more than welcoming and accommodating (even remotely!). We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location. The beach is so close you can hear the waves from your window, which was the best way to fall asleep at night and the best way to wake up in the morning. The skate park is the next street over, the food trucks and grocery store are a quick bike ride away and there are beaches all around. The house is in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The private space is absolutely private, clean and cozy. Mark left us with two cruisers and some snorkel gear which we absolutely took advantage of to explore North Shore. We had a great time and highly recommend staying with Mark.

Comments: Mark's place was very well located. Only a few minutes walk to the beach and close to Foodland and the tastiest foodtrucks ever, this made this stay absolutely unforgettable. Mark was there to greet us when we arrived and then he was very discrete, yet friendly when we saw him on the street! The room itself is okay, clean and quiet. We would definitely go back!

Comments: We had a great time at Marks place, the room was so comfortable and had all the amenities we needed- air conditioning, private bathroom, lounge area, extremely comfortable bed, kitchenette and heaps of bonus necessities like razors, shampoo, soap, coffee, etc. The location is perfect for Sunset beach, the most naturally beautiful spot in Oahu! Just a short stroll to the beach, or to the local food trucks for some delicious cuisine at a good price. You can also use the bikes to go for longer treks, such as a trip into the famous Haleiwa, or to Waimea Valley. We could not have asked for a better home away from home, thanks Mark!

Close to the beach, foodland market and food trucks. The apartment is very clean and cozy, the living room is comfortable with tv, mini fridge and a microwave if you need to heat something. the Bedroom and bathroom are also clean and nice. Mark is a very nice person, anything you need just ask him. He also provided wi-if , bicycles and snorkeling gear. We loved the time we stayed there, for shure we will be back again.

Comments: This place is everything you need and then some. If you are travelling on a budget and would like your own slice of heaven this is it. I had a fantastic time at Mark's place for just under a week and could definately see myself coming back in the summer and staying for a month. He is very generous and hospitable. The place has the most comfortable bed ever, and those sheets are amazing! Huge flat screen tv in your own living room, fridge, air-con and ceiling fans (though i only needed the ocean breeze though my window), soap, shampoo, microwave, filtered water jug, kettle, crockery etc... everything you could possibly need. The bus stop is a few minutes walk away, so i didn't rent a car. He kindly lent me his bicycle and those bike pathways are so lovely to ride. On 2 wheels the beach is 1min away, Foodland supermarket is 5mins away, local food trucks everywhere selling the most delicious fresh food (mmmm, thai fish tacos!). The location is great. I was very lucky to have been there during Quiksilver's "The Eddie" big wave competition. That swell was a sight to see and never forgotten. Again no hassle with the crowds or parking, Waimea was a 5min bike ride away. Feel like a local and ditch the car! As a solo female traveller i felt safe and my belongings secure. It was great to relax in this self contained 1 bedroom unit, i highly recommend Mark's place for your next getaway.

Comments: Marks place was very restful, clean and cosy. The space was a great place to get away from the hassle and bustle of a busy lifestyle. He was very welcoming and kind, we had access to the little extras you may need like some extra kitchen facilities and a beautiful little balcony to enjoy the tropical nights. Mark also made sure we had access to two fantastic bikes, which is the best way to get around the north Shore, public busses are also very close by.

Comments: Mark is a great host. We had good talks about countries, cultures, politics and how to prepare a good brazilian açaí bowl. Impossible! :) He is kind, friendly and have good tips. Mark offers bodyboards, snorkeling equipments and bikes to his guests. We did great rides in the bike lanes. We loved that! The Mark´s house is a great spot in the North Shore, close to market, farmer markets, gas station, food trucks and the most famous beaches. Just few minutes from the historical city of Haleiwa. The house and the room are exactly as in the photos. We were almost at home in this cozy and quiet neighborhood. Kuma is the Mark´s dog and they are always in company of each other. He gave us the pleasure to be in our breakfasts at the lovely balcony in front of house. We went to Hawaii to have some rest and live good experiences, but we found peace and a new direction for our lives. Certainly we would stay there again. Highly recommended! Mahalo, Mark. A hui hou. Comments: Mark´s Home was amazing. Quiet and safe Neighborhood. Clean and comfy half of the house, exactly as described. Nice Views from the Porch. Well equipped rooms and Bathroom. Mark was very busy and we just met him a couple of times during our 9 night stay. But he was always very friendly and helpful. Offered info's and help when wanted. Also his dog Kuma was lovely. Beach Towels and lots of Beach equipment for use, also Bikes for the short 1min ride to the Beach. This was our first Airbnb experience and it will be in our minds as one of the best decisions in our 5 week Hawaii vacation. If you like to relax and try to avoid the hassle of Waikiki we can highly recommend to go to North Shore and stay at Mark. If we´ll ever made it again to Oahu, we´ll definitely stay here again. Mahalo Mark for this unforgettable stay.

Comments: This place was such a refreshing getaway from the busyness of Waikiki. It is located on a quiet street a block up from sunset beach. The room is comfortable and Mark was very friendly and welcoming. He has snorkel gear available which comes in handy to see sea turtles in Laniakea beach right down the road. The only complaint that I have is that we didn't stay longer. I recommend this place for anyone looking for peace and relaxation.

Comments: This was the PERFECT place for us! Mark's place is in a great location - close to the beaches, great snorkeling places, nice hikes to watch the sunsets and the bike trails. And the use of the bikes was a huge bonus! This is a place for those who like to be active, not those who want to sit around in a 5 Star Hotel. The use of the outdoor shower for after snorkeling was very helpful, along with the use of the washer and driver was very convenient. But most of all, it was Mark himself, that made our stay so enjoyable. He was there if we needed something or just wanted to chat, but also always gave us our privacy. We highly recommend this as a place to stay.

Comments: We would vote Mark super host. Mahalo for making us feel welcome and comfortable. The accommodation was better than what we expected, it had the North shore vibe, not flash, totally relaxed and was equipped with everything we needed and more. We really appreciated the loan of the surfboards too. Mangos off the tree in the back yard for breakfast were the best. This quiet and cosy place comes highly recommended.

Comments: Marc was very easy and nice. Everything was exactly as described. So very easy. Consider there's not much around in this area. Food trucks are at the Sharks Cove, also groceries. 10min away. But you got the bests surf spots of the world around. Not good for swimming though! You can have relaxed days, watching Surfers on several spots just minutes away... Marc even provides beach chairs and snorkel gear for you! Marc did also have two bikes, we used to get along north shore. away from car driving and traffic like you will have in the southern parts of the Island.

Comments: My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time there. The place is very cozy, quiet and perfect to relax. The neighbourhood is great, people are very friendly. Beautiful beaches and surf spots are very close, it is a perfect place to go with the bikes along the shore. Mark is a great host, he gave us a lot of good recommendations what to do in this area. I highly recommend to stay there.

Comments: Mark is a very unobtrusive figure. We only saw him a few times. Privacy was very high with a relaxed atmosphere. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes. No swimming however because of rough surf. The porch was nice for quiet dinners. This was a good value experience.

Comments: Mark is a fantastic host and the house was absolutely perfect for us. The area is spot on, close enough to walk to the beach but off the main road and quiet (besides the faint crashing of waves in the distance and tweeting birds, which were so welcome!) Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Comments: If you are looking to have a very relaxed time on the North Shore, Mark’s apartment is just perfect. Mark is a very nice host who was always asking if we needed anything, yet he is very quiet and reserved. We had a private bedroom, bathroom and a small living room which was our favorite spot :) If you are a surfer, it’s a 5 min walk (or 2 min bike) to some prime surfing spots on the NS (off the wall, backdoor, pipeline). The awesome bikes, made available by Mark, were our main mode of transportation (and one of the highlights of this place) while there as we were looking for a relaxed time, just going to some beaches and some local restaurants. There is also an outstanding beach for snorkeling just 5 mins by bike. Haleiwa (the biggest town nearby) is a 15 min drive, so I would definitely recommend to have a car to go there or some other north shore places that would be a little too far for biking. We did see a lot of public buses passing by which should be enough if you are not willing to get a car, but I’m not sure on the frequency. Overall this was our favorite spot in Oahu and we will definitely be back to Mark’s place whenever on the North Shore again. Thanks for everything Mark!

Comments: Best place at the north shore. I really loved my stay at marks house. Very nice house, quite and laid back and with a great host mark. If you want to enjoy the real north shore life style you gotta go to marks place. Right in the heart of the north shore. Steps away from world famous wave pipeline. Not far to foodland or Waimea bay or sunset beach. I loved getting around with marks beach cruiser and of course his very friendly dog kuma ! Thank you mark. I'll be back ! ;-)

Comments: Mark's place is a hidden gem! You walk to a wonderful beach or bike along the north shore or drive around Oahu. You hear the waves from your bed! You have your bedroom, bath and a small living room for your own, you can use the wonderful patio and Kuma, Mark's dog will keep you company. We were around a lot and loved coming back. Mark is an attentive and helpful host. We'd love to come back!

Comments: Mark's place is in an awesome location with a less than 5 minute walk to the beach and a short 10 minute walk to food trucks and a grocery store. The entrance to the listing is inside Mark's home, but that didn't end up being a problem for us, as we only saw Mark a few times in passing. He is knowledgeable about local restaurants and scenic spots and gave us some great recommendations. The fridge, silverware, beach towels, beach cooler, and snorkel gear made available to us all came in handy. There were also a few essentials in the bathroom cabinet. The only thing I would make note of is that you are staying in a true island home and with that comes visitors. There were quite a few geckos that came and went without causing any problems, but be sure to wrap food up tight and dispose of trash quickly or you may find some sugar ants.

Comments: Mark's place feels a bit secluded, while being right in the middle of the action! Loved being able to walk to the awesome beach and watch the surfers, as well as being close to the fun town of Haleiwa and even closer to excellent food trucks. Mark gave us some great tips for places to go, and we enjoyed borrowing his bikes, beach chairs, and snorkel gear!

Comments: Amazing spot 5 mins walk to the famous North shore beaches. We had a great time staying here. The bed is really comfy and you have a private en-suite and chilling out room with couch tv private fridge/coffee maker etc. The house is close enough to food trucks and the supermarket to either eat in or out. And there is a bus stop nearby if you don't have a car to get to Haleiwa. Mark was a great host who gave us privacy as well as offering local advice when requested. Overall a great place to stay and enjoy Oahu.

Comments: Mark has a great little setup close to some of the North Shore's best beaches. You are allocated a side of the house, including bedroom, bathroom and living room which can be sectioned off for your privacy. Mark was very comfortable with us coming and going, and had both a good mixture of making us feel welcome, but also giving us a lot of space

Comments: Most wonderful place to stay! Mark is so kind and open to sharing his home and beach! The location was incredible. Just what a solo female traveler could have wanted: safe location, easy bus transit, and great beach access! If you want to hop right in the water however, north Shore's famous surf waves make that very difficult. There's a good swimming beach only a 5 min bus ride (or 1.5 mile stroll) near Waimea Valley that is great though! Overall a complete joy.

Comments: Mark's place is great if you want to stay away from busy areas such as Waikiki. My boyfriend and I stayed at his place for about a week and we really enjoyed it. The beach is literally a block away and so are the food trucks. My boyfriend and I wish we had taken more advantage of the food trucks, the food is really good! A supermarket is also available within a few miles so you don't have to worry about driving far. Mark really accommodates you and gives you suggestions on what to do nearby or just on island in general. We didn't see him much but he communicates well and is attentive if you have any comments/concerns. His place is just as it look on the pictures so you don't have to worry about any type of fake-pictures. If you're into going for mornings runs this would be an awesome place to stay at. Very relaxing and perfect for two. One thing we wish we would have known sooner was the "off-spray" you might get a few mosquito bites, but then again you're in Hawaii. Overall great experience, Thanks for everything Mark!

Comments: We loved being able to walk to the beach, that was quiet and spectacularly beautiful. Beach towels and snorkeling gear were available to us too. We could hear the ocean lapping and slapping, when we went to sleep, even though it was quiet because of the distance from the beach. Mark was helpful for local info. Definitely stay again if we are lucky enough to get to visit Hawaii. No reason to go anywhere else on Oahu, when you can stay on the North Shore.

Mark was a great host (quick communication, accurate info/tips on activities), the space was as advertised and the "extras" such as snorkeling gear, beach chairs, etc. were very handy. The location of the airbnb was fantastic! Short walk to great beachs (3 mins), food trucks, snorkling and Foodland grocery store. Really enjoyed hanging out on the lanai while listening to the waves and watching all the birds/geckos and flowers. Look forward to coming back ....

Comments: Marks place on the north shore was perfect for myself and my partner. We had a section of the house to ourselves with our own lounge, bathroom and bedroom to ourselves which was really cool. What we liked most about marks place was the location, it is a 10 minute cycle to some of the best swimming and snorkelling beaches on the north shore and also to the food trucks and supermarket. Myself and my partner did not have a car during our stay with mark and we did not have any issues getting round as mark has bicycles that we used to get most places which was also a very scenic ride and we also used the bus to travel to Haleiwa and there is a bus stop down the road from marks place. Would definitely recommend staying with mark!

Comments: I recommend Mark's place. It is a private room/unit as a part of Mark's house and he is a great host. Free snorkeling equipment and free bikes are very useful. It is a bit of a walk to the closest grocery shop and restaurants, so Mike's bikes or a car (especially if you wish to visit Haleiwa town) are recommended. Thank you Mark.

Comments: The north shore is so interesting and different to Waikiki area. The north shore offers a far more scenic and beautiful coastline and seemed to have a laid back kind of lifestyle away from the big shops and high rise buildings. Mark's place is very quiet and comfortable. Mark was able to offer his local knowledge to where we could go and things to see/do. We also used an app called Gpyse guide to help us get around - which I found through one of the brochures that was in Marks place. My husband and I enjoyed using the eski ( drink/food cooler) and sitting on the famous surfing beaches watching sunsets. We enjoyed riding the bikes to the food trucks just down the road. We we're there in the summer time - so no big waves, but the area is spectacular. We will hopefully return one day to see the big surf. Being on the Aussie dollar and losing a lot in exchange we are very grateful we could use air bnb to keep our costs down. We highly recommend Marks place.

Comments: Such a great place to stay on the North Shore. Ideal location for the beach, waves and local amenities (foodland and food trucks!). Mark was most welcoming, particularly in regards to our toddler, offering to source us a cot and beach umbrella. The guest bikes were amazing, a must for getting around (even though walking places is totally doable) The unit itself is clean and well kept, definitely value for money, and gave me an authentic Hawaiian feel during our stay in regards to decor and set up! I would 100% recommend Mark's place if you're a single person or couple and after a simple place to stay, at a great price and in a great location.

Comments: Mark was a great host! I had a private bedroom, bathroom, and living area. The A/C in the bedroom worked great and the wifi was fast. And best of all I was a couple blocks away from the beach! The rooms were clean but I did see a couple friendly geckos. It's to be expected when you're in Hawaii if you didn't know. Over all it's not the Hilton (duh!) but it was a great and quiet location and AMAZING value. Got so much more that I thought I would be getting.

Comments: Mark's place felt like home away from home. Woke up with the sun every morning, ate breakfast on the porch with the lizards, hopped on a bike and explored the North Shore. Amazing location. Comments: I really enjoyed staying at Marks place. Unfortunately he was back on the main land during our stay so we didn't get to meet him but he was very easy to communicate with. He got us in contact with Mona, who also helps run the airbnb and lived in a separate structure neighboring the house. Mona was extremely nice and has a very welcoming personality. She gave us tips on places to go and even where to go to dolphin watch! Very nice lady! We stay at Marks during the week then did an airbnb in the city on the weekend however we realized we should of definitely stayed at Marks the whole time. The setup is very very nice, with a little living room area, YOUR OWN bathroom, and a bedroom with a very comfy bed! The rest of the house (common areas) were spacious and he even has a great patio perfect to eat your breakfast at while surrounded by the sound of birds and green plants, or in the evenings sip wine under the hanging lights and bright stars. He has a bunch of ocean supplies that you can borrow as well, no need to spend money on renting snorkels! One of the most important part is that he was right by the beach!! This beach was one of my favorites on the island. Its simply gorgeous! Make sure you bring a baggie with you because the sand is so neat you'll want to take some home with you. Another plus is that when we went there was hardly anyone on this beach, other ones can be more crowded. Its a perfect location! Theres a snorkeling area near by and other food places as well. It took us about an hour or so to go to the other side of the island which was very doable for us. You get a more local authentic feel of the island living on the north shore vs the typical tourist areas. I would highly recommend staying here!:)

Comments: Marks place is so close to the beach we just walked or used the bikes each day. The fabled snorkelling of Sharks Cove is a 10 minute bike trip away and Pipeline would be a little less. Across from sharks cove is the food truck park and a food works supermarket is not far away either. We didn't meet Mark in person but his communication was fantastic and it was super easy to turn up and settle in. Everything we needed was at the house and our own room had a lounge, bathroom and bedroom that we could lock. We ate at the food trucks, my wife is coeliac (gluten allergic) and the taco van and Thai catered for her perfectly. We also checked out turtle cove resort for a drink one afternoon (we drove there in about 15 minutes) we ended up eating at Roy's beach house and the wait staff were fantastic with my wife's allergies. We would definitely return to Marks and the Northshore if the opportunity arose.

Comments: Vi trivdes mycket bra hos Mark.

Comments: Mark’s place is an oasis of peace and privacy. His house is located at the end of a dead end road on the gorgeous north shore of Oahu, his place is o so enchanting. I enjoyed tranquil nights, hearing the surf while falling sleep and if it rained I would hear the comforting sound of rain hitting the huge leaves of tropical trees outside my window. Mark accommodated my every need and the tips he gave me of how to explore the island the best possible way were invaluable. His dog, Kuma, is the loveliest dog, you’ll end up cuddling with him and swimming with him in the ocean! He added so much joy to my stay at Mark’s. The room itself is spacious, private and clean and has everything one could possibly need. Mark also provides beach cruisers which are great for getting around in the neighborhood. I look back on my stay with nothing but joy and gratitude.

Comments: Mark and Mona are great, very friendly. All possible info was provided, Mark was staying in touch and making sure we have all we need. For european, it is bit strange entering someone elses empty house that is left unlocked when noone is home, but instructions were clear and we knew where to go and where to stay. We had our own living room room, bathroom and bedroom jut for us which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the bed is not suitable for two people to sleep in. After few minutes, you will both sink in and meet in the middle of it. Fortunately, I was able to sleep on the sofa in our living room so that was fine. Excellent location, walking distance to north shore beaches. It was great to use discount in Foodland, using code Mark provided, that was very appreciated. Very nice veranda to use on front to relax/have breakfast/dinner, that was just great, we loved it. No problem with parking.

There was coffee and cold water in the fridge for us. Great water pressure in the shower and very soft. This avoids the noise of traffic, but is close enough to still hear the ocean at night. It was nice having the private living room. The bicycles were great for cruising up and down the North Shore on the bike path. We rode over to Ted's Bakery for breakfast one morning. I felt very comfortable and safe in the small neighborhood. We appreciated using the washer and dryer during our stay. Mark is very attentive and a great host - eager to make your stay an enjoyable one. Comments: My boyfriend and I visited Hawaii, although I'm from Hawaii, I chose to give my boyfriend a more Hawaiian experience and wanted to stay on the North Shore. It's is very expensive and Mark offered such a good rate we had to take it. When we arrived, we were so happy to see we were not too far from the beach it was right down the road and even closer to a grocery store and one of my favorite beaches "Three Tables". Mark was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. He had everything, small living room with Netflix and cable, mini fridge and coffee maker, private bathroom and comfortable bed and pillows. The bedroom view I could see the ocean a little. We met his dog Kuma (I think was the name ), who was very sweet. We felt like we had so much privacy even tho Mark was in and out, there's a key to lock your door. We mostly saw him in the morning. If you aren't local, I can see he has plenty of books and tour guides. He also can help with suggestions. He is a very good host and made us very comfortable. He is not around too much if you like more privacy . There is AC in the bedroom which is a life saver! Closet and drawers and a hamper. The neighbor is also wonderful if you need her. He said we can use the kitchen, however we didn't need to. He has an outside shower also to rinse off from the beach and snorkel gear and bikes to ride. He had beach towels for us also. The only thing about being that far into North Shore is depending where you want to go you will have to spend some time driving out of north shore. I particularly like being on that side the most but driving around the island only takes a couple hours. All the great beaches are just down the road and Haleiwa is no more than 15 minutes away. I read reviews before booking and all I heard was good things and yes they are all true. I WILL stay here again if it's available when I come back home. It was so relaxing, way better than a hotel in Waikiki, this is real Hawaii, not a busy city with traffic-yuk! So overall great experience, I'd move back if I could afford it lol. I hope you book with him because it is worth it. If you come out and turn left you have Waimea Bay and Haleiwa town, if you go right you have Sunset beach, Polynesian Culture Center and Kualoa Ranch! (Where Jurassic Park was filmed) Both must sees! Reserve in advance for Kualoa, totally worth it! Sharks cove (snorkeling-no sharks ) and a great beach to see turtles! Food trucks all over! Enjoy your stay and know you're in good hands with Mark!! Aloha!!!

Walkable distance to shops and 5 minutes to the beach, this place was our home for a whole week and was delightful! Be sure to close the door properly or little guests (or what we call Fred, the small lizard) will come in and make themselves at home, too! Mark has a super fast response rate and really detailed, helpful tips for the area/and check in. Thanks so much for having us!

Comments: We were accommodated very well here and had everything we needed and more. Would definitely stay again if we were to come back to Hawaii as the location is fantastic. The bikes were so great to explore the local beaches from Sharks Cove to Sunset Beach (not the mention the beautiful, uncrowded beach one block away) and get food from the food trucks and local store. Mahalo!

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at Mark's place. It is in a very quiet area, close to the beach and bike trail. The porch is a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee and evening relaxing. There are bikes, beach towels, umbrellas, beach chairs, and snorkel equipment to use while exploring the area.

Comments: Mark is a great host and the property is everything you could want in a Airbnb . It is so close to the beautiful North Shore which can be accessed either by a provided bicycle or less than a 5 min walk to log cabins beach perfectly situated next to world renowned pipeline . There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill that has regular shuttles to Haleiwa or if you want to use it to collect some goodies from Foodlands . I recommend this property to anyone wanting to be on the north shore and have the privacy of a quiet getaway .

Comments: My husband and i had a perfect three day stay at Mark's. Even though the listing is under private bedroom, it felt like a private unit as we had our own entrance, kitchenette and bathroom. For the price you can't get anything better on the North Shore. It's a short walk to one of the best beaches/surf spots. Mark was a gracious host but was not in our business at all. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends traveling to the North Shore!
