The listing is very accurate, what you see on the photo's is what you get. The building is old but not noisy and the bed very comfortable. Good location for getting around Sydney, would recommend staying here to any of our friends!

  Comments: I stayed at Hugo's with my Dad while we were travelling through on a road trip up the East Coast. My Dad was in the bedroom and I was on the inflatable in the living room. There was more than enough space for the 2 of us and Hugo's home was exactly as expected. Beautiful, homely and fantastically positioned close to the centre of Sydney. We loved the art deco style of the building and how Hugo had furnished the apartment. Hugo's communication was excellent through out the whole process and checking in and out was made seamless and flexible. The weather was terrible during our stay but fortunately there was huge range of fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars in the immediate area. Great location! To summarise, I would absolutely recommend Hugo's place to anyone visiting Sydney and we're sure to be back in touch next time we're in town :) Thanks for everything!

  Comments: Stayed here only a few nights and didn't spend much time in the place other than sleep. The laundry room was a plus for me since I put it tons good use. Location is excellent as it only took me about 10 min to sit in a train at King's Cross station. Good number of places to eat and grab drinks nearby. Internet was also quite fast. Overall, I had a good experience and stay at Hugo's place.

  Comments: Hugo is a fantastic host and his place is amazing. He couldn't be there to give us the keys but he made arrangements with a friend that lives nearby. There were several Timeout books with information about the city and Hugo also left a public transport card for us to use. The apartment is really close to bars and restaurants and the night life of the area is a must ;) It was a great experience!!

The apartment was super clean and had everything you need, and the location was awesome, literally walking distance to countless bars, cafes and shopping. We had a great time and will definitely stay at Hugo's next time we're back in Syndey.

It had everything we needed for a long weekend away and was in a great location - very close to kings cross station and some local amenities. Also a few nice spots for coffee brekky! Hugo's fridge unfortunately broke during our stay however Oliver was very accommodating suggesting we use his fridge to cool down his beers as he lives close to the apartment. We did not take up this offer, but very thankful nonetheless. The bed was comfy and although there was no air con available (which we knew upon booking) the fan in the bedroom did the trick. I would certainly consider staying in the apartment next time we travel to Sydney. Thanks Hugo & Oliver!

  Comments: I really enjoyed my stay at Hugo’s apartment. His friend Oliver was incredibly helpful and held our luggage till the apartment was available as well as holding it until we flew out after check-out. The apartment is perfectly located and walking distance to most areas as well as public transport. It is an easy walk to the CBD as well as Oxford St and many restaurants. The fridge was broken however that was not really an issue for us. Would definitely stay at Hugo’s again.

A nice extra where lots of interesting books about photography. The problem with the fridge was solved while we where there by replacing it. Happy to come back anytime! :)

The biggest plus point was its location! Just a 5 minute walk to Kings Cross train station, and dozens of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Check in and check out was extremely smooth thanks to Hugo's friend Oliver, who even helped us get our luggage up the flight of stairs. We highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay here the next time we are in town. Thanks for having us!

It took us 5 minutes to walk to the train station and nearly 20 minutes to reach most of the places we want to visit. My friend and I love the apartment very much.   Comments: Hugo's place is conveniently located near Kings Cross train station, and is about a 15 minute walk to the heart of Sydney CBD. It's close to the supermarkets and restaurants, everything one can ask for. The apartment is small but has everything that you need. Hugo's friend Oliver introduced my mum and I to the apartment while Hugo was away but both were available via text and Airbnb when I had queries. I would highly recommend Hugo's apartment.

  Comments: Hugo's place was lovely! Exactly as he described and a great size for the two of us. It's far enough out of the city so you don't have the noise and traffic but still in close enough distance to public transport, supermarkets, and tourist attractions. It's also an easy walking distance to the city which we loved. I would highly recommend this place to people who are planning on getting out of their accommodation and exploring Sydney because for me it was a small space to be in for long periods of time. Having said that though, it was very liveable and comfortable! Thanks again to Hugo, and thanks to Oliver for being very hospitable on our arrival.

  Comments: Hugo was out of town so arranged a friend to meet us at the apartment when we arrived. It was very easy to get to (we walked from St. James station) and in a nice neighbourhood. The building/apartment is very secure and in a good central location. Good places to eat close by, Bloody Mary's for breakfast was a great spot. Also probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

It was a fraction on the small side for my liking for an extended stay. Regarding the kitchen, I'd rather not leave a permanent comment about a fixable problem, but I'd ask Hugo about the microwave and oven if you are planning to heat food.

  Comments: Didn't get a chance to meet Hugo, however Oliver met with my friend and I and was very pleasant. He offered to show us around and was there when we needed him. Hugo was just a phone call away and was very accommodating. The place itself had everything you need, very great location. Literally 5 min walk from the train station which connects to everything. It's a nice town, there are always people walking around so you feel safe. Our wifi shut off one night and we contacted Hugo in the morning and he immediately had it taken care of even refunded a night for the inconvenience when he didn't have to. Definutely a great Host, would recommend.

  Comments: Even after our flight getting delayed and shifting our schedules around, Hugo and Oliver have been very patient and generous to us on our arrival. The place is located in a very convenient location sitting in between CBD and Surry Hills, and has nice cafes and restaurants close by. The apartment is very clean and was more than spacious for two of us. Their couch is a perfect for a quick nap while watching TV. It's a quiet neighborhood and had no problem falling asleep day and night. Would definitely use again for our next visit to Sydney.

  Comments: Hugo's place is perfectly located for getting around Sydney, but equally for staying in the area; so many bars and restaurants and shops, you won't need to leave. The Opera House is only a 30 minute walk away - or 5 minutes by train! Bondi beach is 2 stops away by train. The apartment is lovely; especially for single travelers. The bed is really comfy, it's got everything you need, and check in and out was easy-peasy. I would recommend Hugo's place to anyone!

  Comments: The location is great. Coles is right next to the place which opens till 12am everyday. If you walk out to Surry, you will find nice restaurants and bars. The place is cute and quite spacious for two people. It looks exactly same as the pictures on the website. However, the entire building is quite old, which makes sense that the place cannot be completely free from cockroaches and other bugs. There is a rule that you should use one towel per person over your stay, otherwise you are expected to leave a few towels for the next guests.

  Comments: This place is great, close to everything - transportation, Coles, cafes and restaurants. I loved the wooden floor and interior, it's very cozy and I loved it. Oliver and Hugo responses very quickly, there was no communication problem. The only downside was bugs - cockroaches. So we sprayed insecticide, like every morning before we left.

  Comments: Awesome location! We were able to walk to the kings cross train stop. Street had lots of cute cafes and restaurants. It was a short walk to a local grocery store. There was a small refrigerator but no freezer. We found bugs in the kitchen and living space. When we notified the host and he told us that Sydney is known for its cockroaches. He thought the increase in rain over the last several weeks made it worse. He told us he would remedy the situation. Overall, a fine location for a few days. We loved Sydney!

  Comments: 1.in the room for 3min I witnessed COCKROACH on the kitchen table, living room wall, working space desk, the following days cockroaches are common also in bathroom, the LED screen of the oven( I doubt there's is a nest inside of the oven, cuz they come in and out from the oven door, and host even said to other ppl according to reviews cockroaches are well known in Sydney) COCKROACH IN ALL SIZE EVERYWHERE IN THE ROOM 2. Plastic used bottle under the curtain, ate fruit core next to the living room TV apparently there is a big problem with cleaning service. TRASH SCATTERED IN THE ROOMI've been in the Airbnb in downtown too there isn't any situation like this. 3. Good side you have a HUGE TV and a soft bed. The heater is handy. Used to dry my hand drying clothes. Location next to the king cross, I can not say it is super downtown cuz it wasn't that central. But it is a bar&a restaurant street. Dominio in walking distance 4. The downstairs shared public washing machine is right next to the trash place with all over the dead giant body of cockroaches. You don't want to wash your clothe there. I did all my laundry by hands. 5 bathroom shower tap always leaking + the water sink in a TERRIBLE design+ cockroach activating zone. I CANT BEAR TO SHOWER IN SUCH A PLACE. Design:One tap with super hot water another one with super cold water. How am I able to mix them up by hands? I WONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNTIL THEY SORT OUT THE COCKROACHES PROBLEM!

Je ne me suis jamais sentie en insécurité, même tard le soir. L'appartement est très sympa, lit confortable, grande cuisine, télévision, machine à laver pour 3$ au Rez de chaussé. Le seul inconvénient est la baignoire qui commence à être vieille et rouillée, mais cela reste amplement suffisant pour prendre une douche. L'hôte est très sympathique et attentionné, donne de bonnes recommandations et s'assure que tout se passe bien et que l'on ne manque de rien par message. Je recommande ce logement !

It is exactly as pictured and situated in a great neighborhood surrounded by countless shops and restaurants, even a glorious supermarket that’s worth a visit just to browse. It’s easily accessible from the airport by subway train, just 3 or 4 blocks from where you get off. I was given excellent directions to the apartment, which is in a very secure building, up one flight of stairs. The unit was very clean, the water instantly hot and the strongest water pressure I’ve ever seen. The large desk and ample countertop made it really handy to spread things out, set up the laptop, etc. The wifi was fast. I didn’t watch any TV but there’s a huge one in front of a comfy sofa. The bedroom isn’t overly spacious but it has a large, comfortable bed and was more than adequate for me. I especially appreciated the room-darkening draperies in the bedroom. The place is quite quiet for being so close to the action outdoors. Ollie was a great host. He gave me a Sydney guidebook and pointed out places of interest, which was especially appreciated given that I hadn’t planned much in advance. He lives just a couple of doors down, so he’s at your service whenever needed. When I foolishly locked myself out, he was promptly there to let me back in. I highly recommend Hugo’s place to anyone. You could pay a lot more and stay at a place like the Waldorf Astoria. But I don’t like to pay a fortune for lodging when I can get a perfectly suitable place like this for a reasonable price.

He went above and beyond to provide me with information and suggestions and help me in every way he could. I gained a new friend in the process too. The apartment is very conveniently located and the bed really comfortable. I walked to most places and took the bus or train at other times. This was my first visit in Sydney and it was a blast.   Comments: Very responsive and helpful host. Apartment and building are vintage - a little rough around the edges, but clean, comfy, and nice to come home to at the end of the day. Building is safe (front door key access). Note - there is no freezer, and bedroom does not have a door (a thick curtain instead). Also - the bedroom is well circulated by the breeze if you leave the window open, but light sleepers might be interrupted by street noise (window opens to an alley between this building and the next). Small desk fan in lounge room works just fine, but not sure how building would be in summer (no a/c). Bathroom very well stocked with toiletries, and bedroom has handy shelving/hangers for clothes. A 10 minute leisurely walk straight to Oxford St. Good value for money given the location. A cute retro apartment.

  Comments: Ollie was my host, and he was hugely friendly, helpful and prompt. I love the location of this apartment, and used it as my base for two nights and walked everywhere from there. The bed is really comfortable, and lots of hot water in the shower... two of my priorities! If you aren't looking for something fancy, but highly affordable and well located, this is the place for you.

  Comments: Hugo’s flat is good value for money and has a great location, only a few hundred metres from Kings Cross station and 15 minutes walk into the city. The flat faces an internal courtyard which means it is a little on the dark side but also very quiet - much more than you would expect in this location. Hugo and Ollie were great hosts and very helpful, especially when we accidentally left something behind. In summary the flat was ideally suited for what we wanted - a not-too-expensive apartment close to the city and train.

  Comments: This location is amazing, just 300m to the Kings Cross train station, and within short walking distance to pubs, cafes, and grocery mart. The place was very functional, perfect for cooking my own meals at times during my 15 night stay. The shower's water pressure was very strong and the hot water almost instantaneous (having a bathtub was a nice bonus). The bed was very comfy with extra linens at hand, including plenty of large bath towels. The oven didn't work nor was there a freezer as (both) stated in the printed instructions, but that didn't deter me from creating nice meals during my visit. The portable space heater worked in a pinch when temperatures dropped a bit during the winter nights. The unit backs onto a alleyway so not much natural light, but the interior lighting flooded the apartment nicely. The apartment was very quiet, and very peaceful, just perfect after a busy day or night about town. Check-in was a breeze, Ollie readily accommodated my early arrival and arrived seconds within my announced arrival on-site. Ollie was very helpful, provided guide books in the unit and provided me with his own travel insight on places to visit in the local area. Ollie was also quick to inquire about linen changes mid week, their laundering, including for bath towels. Ollie was always just a text message away to offer any assistance when needed. In summary, this place and Ollie as a host, made for a lovely hassle free 15 night stay in Sydney. I definitely recommend this charming little place and I would return again.

  Comments: I stayed Hugo's place for five weeks. Few minutes to Kings Cross Station or takes only about 20min to CBD. Great place for exploring Sydney. There is almost everything you need in the room. Public washing machine is located in down stairs you will need three one dollar coins to use washing machine. Unfortunately I could not use internet for 4weeks due to failure but Hugo gave me a refund for recharge my data-usage for hotspot.

Not a bad walk into the actual city city (20-25mins depending on pace/destination and route). Communication was really good and we were able to leave our bags until our flight (obviously subject to booking demands). Convenient transport links nearby as well. Makes for a very good base to explore Sydney!

It may be a detail but we’re French and we need adaptors for all our devices. With USB plugs things were easier for us. This shows the nice attitude towards people who stay at this apartment. It is very well located also. Close to bars, restaurants and food shops. We loved staying there. And on the top of that we loved meeting Ollie we were talking with. He was here to warmly welcome us when we arrived. He was very reactive with messages and helped us with information about things to do (special thanks for the markets Ollie ).
