There is a full kitchen with enough space to make family meals and the living room offers a sanctuary to spread out in. The whole apartment is accessible to guests. I usually make a pot of coffee, and doing my morning routine, gym, run, mediate. I am friendly, gay and well traveled. I love learning about other cultures and experiencing life through my guests. Sometimes I work from home or in nearby coffee shops in the afternoon, generally it's pretty quite here though. Nights the TV is usually on or I'm in my bedroom watching the news. F
Neighborhood Overview: The neighborhood is reminiscent of old-school Europe. In the early 1800s the area was a major port, and the building use to be a warehouse for the storage of spices. All around there are cafes, pubs, and restaurants that line cobble stone streets, and the nearby park offers a refuge from the concrete jungle life. While there is a lot going on, the apartment is quiet, which is unusual for NYC.
Notes:
Transit: Most major subways (1, 2, 3, N, R, 4, 5, J, & M) are 3 blocks away. It takes 15 mins to get anywhere in Manhattan. Central Park (where I work) takes 20 mins on a workday. The A, C, E trains are 6 blocks away at Fulton Street. We are very close to the west side highway bike path as well and CitiBike is located just around the corner. Cabs are always available right outside the door.
Access: The whole apartment is accessible to guests.
Interaction: I usually make a pot of coffee, and doing my morning routine, gym, run, mediate. I am friendly, gay and well traveled. I love learning about other cultures and experiencing life through my guests. Sometimes I work from home or in nearby coffee shops in the afternoon, generally it's pretty quite here though. Nights the TV is usually on or I'm in my bedroom watching the news. Feel free to come and go as you please!
House Rules: We just are looking for people who are respectful to our home and keeping it a nice place to stay. We generally goto bed around midnight and would ask you to respect quite time after that. Please be tidy and respectful of the common areas... And I do my best to keep everything tidy on a day to day basis.

Comments: This was the last leg of my very first trip to the US and my second airbnb experience. My first was in San Francisco the week before and unfortunately it was not great so I was a little disheartened and not sure what to expect. My sister was joining me for my time in New York (she flew in from Australia) and we arrived at Luke's all full of chatter and excitement and the pictures of the apartment were spot on. It is a great apartment, industrial in look and Lukes artwork and style make it a wonderful and funky place to stay....just what an Aussie imagines a New York apartment to look like. My sister and I were sharing the room and Luke gave us an option of putting a foldout bed (or cot as they call it in the US) in so we did not both have to share the queen size bed provided. We decided to go with this option on the second night and I ended up sleeping on the foldout for the whole trip as it was very comfortable. The location of Luke's apartment is amazing. It is close to everything and we found getting around quick and easy. 'Stone Street' is just around the corner and not only did it provide a huge range of eating options it also had a very cute look as the street is all cobblestones and in the right weather everyone eats outside. We even found ourselves an Aussie coffee shop in Broad Street which is just a 5 minute walk from the apartment and if you are an Aussie you will understand that this is a bonus as while New York is an awesome place the coffee is a little different to what we experience in Australia. As a host Luke is wonderful even racing out to buy us a hairdryer when he realised the one in his bathroom was missing. The linen, pillows and towels were all clean and of good quality which was very noticeable to me after my stay in San Francisco. Luke as a person is sweet, interesting and very easy to share an apartment with (which is important when you are renting a room) My sister and I were often very excited and very talkative and Luke took this all in his stride and we loved sharing our day with him in the evenings when we arrived home. Luke is intuitive and I think can judge just the amount of interaction his guests require. For my sister and I we felt comfortable with Luke pretty quickly and we now consider him a friend and he will always be an important part of a very special time for my sister and I. We had not seen each other for two years and this trip and the accommodation/location/host was a very big part of what made it so wonderful. Thank you Luke.....Thank you New York!

Comments: All is great here!! My son and I had a fantastic stay and we felt very welcome. Apartment looks great (love the paintings!), bed sleeps super, location is perfect. A lot of nice little places to eat in the surroundings. Beautiful old houses mixed with new large officebuildings. Lively during the day but quiet at night. So no noise when you want to sleep. Metro is nearby. (thanks Aussie girls that we could use your spare days on the metro card!) Luke is a perfect host, with smooth communication and is a very nice guy!

Comments: Luke was a wonderful host and became a friend over the two weeks in his apartment. He is an excellent communicator and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. His apartment is incredibly well located in the heart of the financial district with subway lines all over. It's a chic contemporary and quirky apartment with wonderful artwork, spacious and clean. The room was really comfortable and Luke went out of his way to provide a small travel sleeper bed to accommodate for us both (especially as we got a little ill on our trip and having two beds was great!) - loved spending time there and it's equipped with Netflix, Amazon Echo and his quirky dog Baude who was a pleasure to be around in addition to the robotic hoover that cleans the place which was really cool. We really appreciate Luke making us feel like his own friends / family and being super accommodating - would highly recommend Luke and his place, it's a great experience and we'll be back again!

Comments: Lucas's place was perfect for my last-minute business trip. He was welcoming and social, but not intrusive. The place is a cool old industrial space divvied up into two bedrooms—lots of character, added by the building and by Lucas. I plan to return!

Comments: My parents loved their staying at Lucas's place! The bedroom was a lot bigger than what's shown in the picture and the entire place was so clean and cozy. Location was very ideal too - heart of Wall Street, walking distance to restaurants, grocerie stores, and the river. Lucas was happy to let us use his kitchen and even his rice and eggs to cook!!! He's an amazing host and I'll definitely recommend this place!

Comments: Lucas is an excellent host and his place is very clean and comfortable. The room we stayed in was exactly as described - comfortable, creative and practical. The apartment is in an amazing spot - a great little corner tucked away south of Wall Street without traffic noise or fumes. There are two sets of fairly steep steps to reach the apartment but it's very secure and was no problem for us. We loved it and can't wait to stay there again!

Anche the New World Center non è molto lontano. 15 minuti a piedi.L'appartamento é molto carino e colorato. Consigliatissimo!!! Grazie Lucas

Comments: Lucas' place is in a great location in the financial district, right beside battery park and the statement island ferry port. The space itself is beautiful with his original art works everywhere. It's a Perfect spot to see New York, and Lucas himself is a gracious host who was happy to share his home. Also the Dubs beat Mayo in Croker and took home Sam so the weekend was some craic hai.

Comments: MAGIC.... this place is not only perfectly located- super easy access to everything!... it is an honest-to-goodness, real artists loft, with ambiance galore. Lucas is an amazing, creative, patient, friendly host, that truly wants your experience to be a good one. The space is much bigger than the photos suggest and it has every amenity as well as Lucas' beautiful art everywhere. Steps away from the water and the ferry to visit the Statue of Liberty with loads of amazing New York bars and restaurants less than 3 minutes walk. You won't be disappointed. Awesome Airbnb..

Comments: I chose Lucas' apartment as my base for a short stay in New York City for a number of reasons. Primarily location - I didn't want the noise/chaos of midtown, but wanted to be able to travel around the city with ease. The location was ideal for this. I also wanted a space which was a bit more interesting than the average hotel/Airbnb - the apartment did not let me down on this one - even though I didn't spend a huge amount of time there, the space had a huge amount of character from Lucas' art. The apartment was comfortable and Lucas was a very warm and friendly host. Lucas was able to accommodate awkward check in/check out times and communicative on any queries I had. Aside from everything else, the bed is super comfortable - perfect to get a good nights sleep after a full on day exploring the city.

Comments: As a woman traveling alone I was worried about feeling safe. I felt so safe from the moment I met Lucas. His place was clean, bed was comfy and it was a pleasure to come home to him every evening for some light chit chat. He was very respectful of privacy. I highly suggest renting from him. I know I will rent from him again.

Comments: Lucas was a great host, his apartment is really stylish and has a great location. It's a perfect spot to do some sightseeing, the metro lines going to midtown are around the corner, so it just takes about 20 minutes to get to the Times Square / Empire State Building etc. We really enjoyed staying there and would highly recommend it to others :)

He offers the perfect blend of hosting : engaging enough to be helpful and honoring enough of your time as a guest w just the right balance. The apartment is comfy and artsy. It’s near several subway stops so you can have easy access to anywhere in the city. There are great coffee shops, bars and restaurants nearby. This was our second stay and we can’t wait for a third.

Comments: It was my 1st time using Airbnb and I've traveled alone. I have to say that staying at Lucas's place was a very good experience, actually beyond my expectations! His place is so cool, so unique, with a lot of canvas painted by himself and it is a smart home with Amazon's assistant Alexa. The subway is just 2 blocks away and neighborhood is safe and quiet.
-
Reviewer: Anndrea
Comments: The location is fabulous - you can see the water and its only a block to the subway. Much quieter at night than I expected as it is in the financial district, which also means that some of the restaurants are closed on Saturday night. Plenty still to choose from though. Luke's place is more spacious than what I expected for NYC, but keep in mind that the building is very old so will feel very different if you are used to newer midwest suburbian homes. Two flights of steep stairs to the apartment may be taxing with luggage or after a long day of sightseeing. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Comments: Had a great time at Lucas' place. He's one of the friendliest, most accommodating hosts we've ever stayed with. Communication was excellent and check in was super smooth. We liked the location because almost all of the subways run down by Battery Park, so it's pretty easy to get almost anywhere with minimal transfers, especially downtown and midtown. The apartment itself is very spacious and has everything you need. Great place overall.

Comments: Lucas’ place is THE BEST!!! I’ve literally had an Instagram post dedicated to it with the following caption: ‘not sure what I liked better - NYC or this apartment’. Super stylish, super spacious and mega (!!!) clean apartment, morning coffee before you even open your eyes and cherry on top - all this in Lower Manhattan (just around the corner from Wall Street and Statue of Liberty. Can someone name me a better place to stay at in NYC??). Lucas is another one of New York’s gem - super friendly, super easy going and is just sooooo COOL. Stalk him on Instagram and (Hidden by Airbnb) if you don’t believe me!! And very down to Earth at the same time (despite all coolness and the amount of followers! Haha). Staying at Lucas’ place was literally the best Airbnb experience (and it definitely made our trip to New York!!) and I don’t think anyone will ever be able to match it. Highly recommend this place if you are looking where to stay when visiting NYC!! Lucas, we miss you and New York already, buddy!!!!! Thanks for everything! Hugs, Ema & Raminta.

¡No te arrepentirás!

Comments: Lucas’s apartment was awesome for the authentic, NYC local experience. It was a cool spot, well lived in but really quiet and comfy for a good nights sleep. We found everything well kitted out for our needs as a couple. There’s not a whole lot to do in the immediate vicinity but we were out and about most of the time. The host though...wow!!! This guys is one of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and his willingness to help, share stories and chatter with a big smile on his face made our trip!!

Comments: Lucas’s home is wonderful. The location is fantastic, convenient, & so stylish. It’s spotless- absolutely spotless- I went home and had to dust out of guilt. The neighborhood is quiet at night, right off the water, and the building has a cluster of great restaurants below-all centered around an adorable square. The very best thing about the place is Lucas himself- he’s got wonderful energy, is fabulously creative, and makes you feel completely at ease. Lucas’s home will be my first choice next time I am in NY- it should be yours too.
