Summary: Gem-like, art-filled exquisitely-furnished south-facing studio, with exposed brick, high ceilings, garden views, two closets, and a hallway galley kitchen. Steps from subway. My personal home -- let only when I'm out of town -- with character to match.

Space: This studio is my full-time home and I love it passionately. I rent it only occasionally -- when I'm out of town for work -- to responsible people I hope will love it as much as I do. It's got an ideal layout: a hallway with two (two!) closets, a bathroom with tub, a galley kitchen, and a spacious-feeling south-facing main room, with exposed brick and enough space for entertaining, sleeping, working, and more. The apartment is located in an elevator building on a quiet, historic tree-lined street.

Neighborhood Overview: The Upper East Side has it all. There's the UES of Edith Wharton and Gossip Girl -- the grand museums of Museum Mile, elegant shops, Park Avenue promenades. But Yorkville, where I live, has both easy access to this UES (the m86 is 30 seconds from the apartment), has a bohemian character all its own. Tons of independent bookstores, coffee shops with local poetry reading series, vintage and consignment shopping, great food. One of the few Manhattan neighborhoods to have "mom and pop" shops (you can find a local baker, fishmonger, 3 butchers, and produce shops within a 3-block radius!). One block from Carl Schurz Park and the riverside promenade.

Notes: It's a lovely building -- incredibly quiet.

Transit: The M86 is a half-block away -- you can look online from home to see when the bus is approaching and still make it out the door in time to get onboard. We're five minutes from the new Q-train which connects you to midtown in 15 minutes or less. The bus connects to all major train lines on the East and West sides, or it's a 5-10 minute walk to the express 4/5 and local 6 trains at 86th street.

Access: The entire apartment is yours. I am happy to clear out at least one closet for you -- negotiable based on the length of your stay.

Interaction: I'll be out of town, but my friend/neighbor will be just around the corner if you need anything! Key pick up and drop off will be through a 24/7 Keycafé service just around the corner.

House Rules: Absolutely no pets, smoking, 420, etc. This is my home and I'd like to keep it as pristine as I leave it. Couples welcome.

Comments: I have stayed at many airbnbs, but this was, by far, the best. Not only was Tara incredibly helpful and responsive, her place was even better than depicted. She was out of the country but didn't let that get in the way of still being totally there to provide information and assistance. I would recommend her place on the UES to anyone visiting New York. Five stars out of five!

Comments: I very much enjoyed my stay in Isabella's apartment. The location was great, and she was excellent at responding to emails and text messages in a timely manner. I had no worries about check in or out. The flat had everything that I needed, including an elevator (I had a ton of luggage). I'd certainly stay here again.

Comments: Tara was a lovely host, her apartment was cosy, neat and 'homey'. Before we arrived she send us an email with suggestions to good cafes, bars and restaurants in the neighborhood and "quick introduction" to the area. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, close to the water and to central park, with the subway it was easy to go to the city center. Tara was a very attentive hostess and even that she was in a totally different time zone or traveling, she answered emails and texts quickly and precise. I would love to stay here again when/if returning to NYC.

Comments: My boyfriend and I stayed at this cozy, central and nice apartment for two weeks while visiting NYC for the first time. The combination of feeling at home, which Tara makes sure you do, while being in a new big city, was perfect for us. Tara is truely a great host, who responded to our requests quickly and helped us out with any questions we had. The apartment was suitable for two persons and with a small kitchen, it was possible to make some meals at home, making the vacation less expensive. The appartment is a nice walk away from Central Park and not long from a subway station to take you anywhere you want to go. There is several grocery shops nearby too. We have already started planning our next trip to NYC and we will definitely hope that Tara's apartment is available.

Comments: Tara is a great host, always helpful and did everything to make our stay pleasant. Her apartment is small but cozy, and the mini kitchen was very handy. I think my only observation would be that the apartment walls are pretty thin, and the next door neighbors were a bit chatty at night. The location is great, a few blocks from the subway and close to many grocery stores and shops, we loved it! Would definitely stay there again and recommend it, the host and the place are lovely

Comments: Great apartment in a decent location, everything u need is around from bars to grocery, laundry, pharmacy etc. Subway and Bus are only minutes away in walking distance. The area it is in is also nice, especially the Carl Schulz Park which is only 5 minutes away. Host is very responsive and friendly, would always recommend this apartment.

Comments: Very nice and comfortable apartment. The host, Tara, gave very clear instructions about the directions around the house. She was very friendly and helpful. She also helped me with advice on eating places etc. She was always available on messages if I ever needed any help. The location of the apartment was very nice - lots of eating places nearby, a lovely jogging track by the river 2 blocks away. Apartment also had an elevator which helped me avoid lug my suitcase up the stairs. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

Comments: Isabella was a great host and her place was great too. She was very accommodating of our arrival schedule and super responsive for our questions. She was also very thoughtful in giving us info we needed for the apartment. Her place is lovely and a great size for a single or couple.

Comments: Tara is the best hostess! Very friendly, flexible, easy to reach and get quick response from. She provided very detailed useful practical information! This contributed to make many everyday things work easy for a NYC-rookie as me - and make me feel completely safe and secure during my stay. The apartment is homey, comfortable and unique. I love the art and brick wall. It had what I needed during my stay - nice light/bright bathroom, kitchen facility, nice big bed, closet/drawer space for my clothing, couch, AC to beat the heat, wifi and (bonus!) loudspeakers to play music. Yorkville is a very charming neighborhood. East 87th Street is pleasantly quiet, however, near busy streets where you can find good restaurants and grocery stores. I loved charming Carl Schurz Park located by the East River, just two blocks away (Tara's recommendation!). I have enjoyed my stay in Tara's home very much! When I come back to New York City (I definitely will) I hope I can rent it again :)

Comments: Tara went abroad when I visit her house. But, she told me key-take-point(24-hours diner) near her house by e-mail before I depart to NY. So, I could find keys easily. I can easily arrive her house from JFK by Uber only $35. I take about 30-minutes.

Comments: My sister and I had a great time in NY with a perfect located appartment thanks to Isabella. The place is not extremly spacious but it is convinient and is really nicely decorated. the neighbourhood is quiet and nice, there's some grocery's stores around some pasteries shops, restaurants... everything needed. The subway is close by, and so is central park ! We walked to guggenheim, to the MET and sometimes we went through central park to the city center. I highly recommend Isabella's place to visit NY for few days !

Comments: I chose Isabella's place due to the close proximity to the hospital where my mom had knee surgery done. Her place is exactly as described and shown in the pictures. She gave me a complete run down on her place and the neighborhood before I arrived via email. This being my first Airbnb experience I didn't know quite what to expect, but Isabella was always prompt in responding to my various questions and requests. Her place is accessible to public transportation and and the neighborhood is very safe. My mom and I stayed there for an extended amount of time and felt like true locals. I did encounter a problem returning the keys though. The Keycafe service used for key exchange didn't recognize the fob on the keys and I was stuck there trying to figure it out while I had my mom waiting in a cab with the meter running to go to the airport. I called the Keycafe customer service number and after 30 minutes was able to get one of the drawers unlocked so I can deposit the keys. It was stressful start to my journey back home.

Comments: Isabella is a great host. She was waiting for us when we got the place. And she's very responsive when I texted her whenever I have questions about the place. I highly recommended Isabella and her lovely apartment.

Comments: Cozy and charming. Very convenient with the new Second Ave subway line just two blocks away.

Comments: Outstanding. 3 minute walk to new Q Line subway. Elevator in building. A+ communication with host.

Comments: We had a great week at Isabella's place. It's a small apartment but does not feel cramped at all. It feels bigger than it looks. We've stayed many times in new York and we were surprised how quiet it was, and heard very little of the noise a big city makes. The apartment got everything you need. And with the new Q train you can quickly get to midtown and the sights. Central park is close and we walked there several times. Everything you need is also just around the corner being a convenience store, restaurant, bars.. We never got to meet our lovely host but she kept in contact and made sure we had everything we needed. Key pickup and drop-off worked like a charm. Next time I am in New York I am definitely checking first if this apt is available. Great stay!

Comments: Great stay here! The apartment is lovely, quiet, clean and in a great location. The host is incredibly responsive, even if she is not in the city to meet personally. Check-in/out process was very easy.

  • Reviewer: Manami

Comments: So quiet place! I was surprised that there are no sirens in the nights. And you can reach subway station or bus stops under 5 minutes walking. That’s good for city travelers!

  • Reviewer: Aleksandr

Comments: Very friendly and good host, help us when we ask about heater. Apts is ok, central location, easy check in/check out. Slow wifi for us. I would like a little cleaner.

Comments: The host canceled this reservation 37 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Comments: Such an amazing stay! Great location and nice on the inside. Tara was a great host and got back to me quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend staying here to anybody looking for a small, clean, cozy, quiet, place to stay when traveling/visiting! I would for sure stay again.

Comments: The apartment was exactly as described. Tara was a great host, she answered within minutes and really wanted us to have a perfect stay- which we had. She also sent us tips for shopping and food which was Herz helpful. The location is perfect! 5 minutes away from the subway.

  • Reviewer: Janine

Comments: The appartment is very cosy, location is perfect and Tara ia very nice! The place can use some fresh white paint (stains on the wall) some profound cleaning and new sheets. Tara, pls get a new housekeeper and everything will be perfect!! Besides the cleaning it was a great place!!

  • Reviewer: Alejandra

Comments: The apartment is located in a wonderful neighborhood, close to the subway and to a beautiful park near the river. The 5 floor building is quiet and it has a lift. The apartment has air conditioner (something very important in summer) and it is decorated with elegant details, just like the pictures. Only I want to warn that is an inhabited apartment so all the host belongings are everywhere. Someone might find this situation a little awkaward. The cleanness in general was ok, but some places needed more attention. The host was very kind and considerate to me, her responses were every time helpful, accurate and quick.

  • Reviewer: Cristina

Comments: The apartment is just as shown and described on the site which is positive. It’s a small place suitable for couples but don’t expect to get too much cooking done as the kitchen is tiny. Perfect place for sleeping, showering and off to sightseeing as it is well connected with the metro and is located in a safe and quiet area.

Comments: It's cute. It's eclectic. It's artsy, scholarly. The location is fantastic. Loved Yorkville! It's a bargain for this area.
