Comments: I loved staying here. The top floor was perfect for me and my girlfriend. The house itself would probably be, ideal for a large group. Overall the location is great (Walk to food trucks and beach, short drive to great north shore attractions - Ted's, Waimea Valley, Sharks Cove, etc). We forgot about the toys and snorkels and accidentally rented our own but definitely utilize the community toys. The house and view are entirely described accurately and photographed honestly. There were no surprises. It's an eco friendly unit so be prepared to open windows and turn fans on when you arrive to sleep comfortable. Some screens double check to avoid any bugs flying in. Perhaps bug spray should be a recommendation? Get some veggies and cook in. The kitchen is great with an amazing view!

Comments: We had a terrific stay at the Lodge. It was the perfect place to relax on the quiet North Shore. Acai Bowls at the Crispy Grindz truck at the foot of the driveway were delicious, as was the Thai food at the Elephant Truck next door.

Comments: I cannot say enough about how great this place was… The overall experience location and vibe that the farm has is amazing and it was really great to experience it for a month. Very clean very well thought out, and most of all, super comfortable in a great place to call your home away from home. Super attentive thoughtful and respectful hosts as well, I can't wait to go back.

Comments: North Shore is a paradise on Earth and this lodge is one of the best spots to enjoy it. The view is amazing and it was just lovely to have breakfast in the early morning watchin the ocean from the balcony. The apartment was big and well furnished (especially the kitchen although we never got to use it) and located just a few minutes walk away from the beach. There are shops and food trucks nearby as well and most of the main attractions in the area can be reached in minutes by car. For those afraid of bugs (like my wife), the house is clean and there are screens at every window so we didn't see any in almost 4 days although the house is located among trees at the foot of a hill. You'll have definitely some geckos as guests on the ceiling every now and then but you'd barely notice them (my wife gave a name to each one of them, the little ones are George and Fred :D). Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Meleana, although she's been always very quick to reply to my messages and she helped us a lot by storing our luggage all day after check-out so we could enjoy North Shore until the evening before our late night flight. Definitely reccomended!

Comments: I found the place more or less as described in the listing, though there were a few minor exceptions worth mentioning. I didn't meet or speak with the Maleana (host), though she did respond to my emails and texts. The space includes the upstairs unit but it is connected to the downstairs unit which is occupied by another tenant. Although there was a ceiling fan in the kitchen and bathroom, the humidity and heat was exceptionally high during at night and not having any air conditioning kept me awake most of the night. I was rather disappointed in the cleanliness of the place - there were insects and small lizards inside the house and fecal matter on the inside window sills which I spent some time cleaning off. I had no cell service (TMobile) and the wifi was very weak/slow. To be fair, waking up in the bedroom in the morning I had the real feeling like I was inside the jungle - lush plants surrounding screen windows. This created a real feeling of escape and remoteness which I loved. All in all, for the $500 I paid for 2 nights stay, I thought I could have gotten a better overall experience staying at a real hotel.

Comments: We had an amazing time at the Lodge, it's perfectly situated for exploring the north shore and has incredible views. Great food vans and Teds bakery are nearby, all worth a visit. The place was comfortable, had great wifi cooker, fridge etc. We would certainly book again! Thanks for having us!

Comments: The Lodge was fantastic - the location was perfect (about a 5 minute drive to the beach), with a beautiful lanai, lots of windows and a quiet, peaceful farm/jungle setting. The photos of the lodge are accurate - it's rustic and spacious, with a well equipped kitchen. Fans keep you semi-cool at night and screens keep *most* of the critters out (the millipedes are tiny and harmless and the geckos eat mosquitos + roaches...which may be why they're considered a 'lucky charm' in Hawaii). If you're after a sterile/super clean hotel type environment, then this lodge may not be for you. But if you're excited for a true Hawaiian country experience, then this place is perfect. The mattress comfort leaves something to be desired, but you should be up early doing stuff anyways. Overall we definitely felt we got great value for $ spent. A few additional comments/tips: - Check surf conditions if you're looking for a place to swim (the surf in this area can pound you). - The shared WIFI connection was speedy enough for us to watch "The Hawaiian" (a documentary about Eddie Aikau) on Netflix before checking out Waimea Bay. - Try pie @ Ted's Bakery (down the road). - The food trucks down the street are great - especially the Thai. - Sunset @ Sunset Beach is beautiful. - Bring a mosquito coil if you want to use the Lanai in the evening. - If the neighbour's farm cat is still a regular visitor give her a pat from us...we named (her) Felix. She's sweet.

Comments: This was an amazing beautiful and quiet location near pipeline. Stunning views. Loved the indoor outdoor flow and the spacious kitchen and lounge. The host and her family looked after us very well. Would definitely stay here again. WIFI connection was brilliant. Just one minor issue the house is not 100% bug proof despite the screens, so recommend bringing some mosquito repellent.

Comments: Awesome location, Banzai Pipeline beach just a walk across the road. The property is charming and peaceful- wish we had more time to explore the farm itself. Enjoyed the view from the lanai, lush greenery around the lodge, and even the geckos (sign of good luck) in the evenings! There were also two friendly cats that greeted us everyday :) Will definitely stay here next time I'm in North Shore. Overall great experience!

Comments: We had a wonderful time at Meleana's place! Perfect location, great views and awesome living space and kitchen. The North Shore is the place to go when visiting Oahu and Meleana's is the place to stay if you want to absorb what the North Shore has to offer. The locals within the farm were super helpful and attentive to our needs. Also, everyone in town knows and has nothing but great things to say about Meleana!

Comments: We stayed at Meleana's place on our first trip to Hawaii (Oahu) and being so close to the ocean on the North Shore was the perfect way to spend 4 days. The house is exactly is it is in the photographs, however the view has to be seen in all its glory as it is spectacular. Location wise, it is perfectly positioned to cruise up and down the North Shore and only an hour to Waikiki. All of the locals on the farm were informative and friendly and Charlie the cat was nice to have around!! I would massively recommend Meleana's place to anyone considering a trip to the North Shore.

Comments: The property was amazing and extremely clean considering we were surrounded by nature and farmland. It is quiet and tranquil - everything we needed for this leg of our trip. The view was beautiful and it was a short easy walk to an amazing beach. Meleana was very responsive and easy to work with. We will definitely be back

Comments: Nice accommodation for a couple and views to ocean settled back into woods. Hosts were easy to work with and never around (although close by). Access to fresh veggies farm and eggs was great. Friendliest cat. No AC and being backed up to woods made a bit warm and more humid but with fans great. Kitchen well stocked, washer and dryer. Lizards for fly and mosquito control welcomed and cat for lizards made for a nice ecosystem

Comments: The house could be very nice but maybe for a couple. There is no much attention to details and cleaning: the blanquets are dirty and so are glasses, the outdoor table, the kitchen sponge are used and old. The fridge and the dishwasher have a bad smell. We rented other houses in Hawaii with AirBnB and all of them were very big, with two bedroom and clean for the same price. The place of is beautiful but we found very uncomfortable the impossibility to easy talk with our host.

Comments: This place holds a little piece of my heart! Never has a place made me feel so relaxed, with the bedroom amongst the trees. Comments: Located on the quiet side of the island; away from most main touristy attractions, North Shore is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing get away! The view from the lodge is one not to be taken for granted. My husband and I spent time on every part of the island and regardless of the length of the drive; 45 minute max, it was a beautiful one! We enjoyed our stay and Charlie's company, the girl cat that hangs about. :) We would recommend to friends.

Comments: Meleana's place was an absolute delight to stay in if you want to really feel like you're getting a local feel for the north shore way of life and only have a short amount of time. Only a few minutes walk to Pipeline and food trucks ect a short drive away. You could easily stay here, turn your phone off and become unreachable for a few days, but also has the added advantage of Wifi and the TV in case you want the creature comforts. Meleana was great with communication and next time we come to Hawaii we'll definitely be checking the available dates for this place before we book the flights to make sure we can stay here again.

Comments: Meleana's pipeline lodge was fantastic. The space is simple and lovely, and appears just as advertised. We didn't have problems with bugs in the house as some people said. You might want to light some citronella candles on the porch, but that's about all it takes. The farm property is beautiful and everyone was very welcoming. Meleana was a responsive host and made sure that any minor difficulties were taken care of. We will definitely stay at this place again!

Comments: Beautiful view, close to the Pipeline beach. The house is large and the kitchen has everything you need. The only problem is the security is not as good as it could be. The lower unit has access to the upper unit. However, the farm has a lot of staff around.

Comments: I must say, we really grew to love this place. It's rustic, intimate and one-of-a-kind. It gets 4 out of 5 stars for the following reasons: 1. I'm not freaked out by the bugs that we found (i.e. dead cockroach by bed, millipedes, mosquitoes) but somebody who wasn't a fan of them, may find this place a little too crowded for their taste. Because the house is tucked back into the jungle, it's humid and I think that makes the smell of glasses and the fridge a little ripe. 2. Our host didn't have the Wifi up and running for the first two days, due to an unpaid bill which made it difficult to communicate and plan our days ahead. She was apologetic and got it working on day 2. 3. Definitely need a car or other mode of transportation if you plan on doing more than just hitting the beach.

Comments: The view at Pipeline Lodge could not be beaten!! A little bit of love would have this place as a five star resort. On the downside there were several holes in the fly screens which let a lot of bugs in, and being set back into the bush, there were a lot of bugs. But all in all it was in a great spot, close to beaches and food trucks and more than we could have hoped for for our honeymoon. Thank you Meleana

Comments: We had a lovely stay at the lodge! It was in a great location in the North shore, and in a beautiful green setting. It was a quick drive to supermarkets, food trucks, and popular areas such as Shark's Cove, and it was just a short walk to a lovely beach across the road from the property, where I recommend spending a sunset. The top floor has an spacious deck with a gorgeous view, and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Also there is a very cute and friendly cat who kept us company! Some amenities listed in the description were not available as far as I could tell(tv/dvds/bikes/snorkel equipment). Not a huge deal for us - no tv meant I read more of my book! - but I mention it in case these are important factors for others when booking. If you are after luxurious accommodation this may not be for you, but for a simple homey feel with plenty of space I think it is good value! The view and enjoying our morning coffee on the deck were the highlight for us.

Comments: We stayed here for our honeymoon. Overall, it was a good experience and the view is amazing. However, there were a few things about the place we think should be communicated to other guests. Honestly, these were not show stoppers for us, but you should know what you're getting into before you book. 1) Some of the wine glasses were dirty and we had to clean some of the dishes to use them. The place wasn't dirty, but we kept finding kitchen items that needed cleaned before using them. 2) There were some holes in the screens and under the doors, so bugs and lizards could move in and out of the lodge easily. We cleaned up all dishes and food after each use to reduce the amount of bugs, which helped, but bugs and lizards all over the place inside the lodge are inevitable. 3) The description states there are pets on the property, but it does not explain how much the pet (cat) is around. We couldn't enjoy the patio without the cat trying to climb on the table or our laps. It was sweet and cute, but annoying. Also, the cat broke into the lodge through a screen on our last day and every time we put it outside it would come back inside and try to jump on the bed. Again, nice cat but neither one of us wanted it playing in our suitcases or bed. 4) Owner was responsive but a little slow to multiple attempts to ask about the farm fresh produce basket. The description makes it sound like those produce baskets are readily available and they are not...if we would have known that we had to order these in advance, we would have done that because we were pretty excited to try it and support local farms.

Comments: I rented the farmhouse apartment for two girlfriends as my family and I stayed in Meleana's other beach front pipeline house, just a block away. They loved it, and invited us over for cocktails on the wonderful large porch with a gorgeous view of the ocean. the kitchen is great with a large center island perfect for cooking and entertaining. you can't beat the ability to buy farm fresh produce right from your front yard :) Everyone was so nice, and my friends loved their stay so much. Thank you, Meleana!

Comments: Had a lovely time staying at Meleana's place on the North Shore. The balcony had an amazing view and we really enjoyed cooking a barbeque in the evenings. The bugs weren't an issue for us. Meleana was super friendly and helpful (thanks for the tidepool tip!!) and we liked the cat visiting us! It reminded us of home. There were a couple of minor issues. Firstly the roosters crow all night so bring your earplugs. Secondly, there was no way of locking the house. Even though it is very safe it made us a bit uncomfortable to have our passports in the house unprotected. If we lost them it would be a major drama. If the bedroom door could be fixed so it locked that would be a great option. Had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the North Shore.

Comments: The lodge is a great value considering the location, view, space, cleanliness and amenities. It felt like being in a retreat. I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it is - big full kitchen, big living room, big deck with a view of Pipeline. Fast wifi and cable TV were also a treat. I was able to work online and watch TV without any problems. One thing to keep in mind is the check-in. I highly recommend arriving during daylight hours. That was my original plan, but my schedule got messed up and I ended up arriving right after dusk. That combined with somewhat confusing directions led to my going to 4 different places on the dirt road leading to he lodge before I finally found it. There is no cell phone signal, so I couldn't call the host. Fortunately, at 2 of the places I stopped, there were people to point me in the right direction. Meleana's lodge is a gem. I would've given it 5 stars if it weren't for my challenging check-in and my messages to the host going unanswered.

Comments: If you're looking for a true taste of life on the slow-paced North Shore, we highly recommend booking this home. With elevated views over the ocean, ample space inside, fully-equipped kitchen and classic but super tidy Hawaiian styling. Take advantage of the local farmer's market stalls in the area (we missed Meleana's farm market at the bottom of the road, unfortunately) and local tips provided in her directory. The resident cat was extremely friendly, which we didn't mind. Thanks for having us, just wish we could have stayed longer!

Comments: Wow! To say we enjoyed our stay is a massive understatement. It was glorious. The peace and serenity, the view...unparalleled. We had the feeling of being completely alone in a rainforest yet in close proximity to the beaches, cafes, grocery, etc. in just 2-3 minutes time. Our bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedding stayed feeling and smelling as fresh as if it were just pulled from the wash. Mele either has magic detergent or maybe it is from being line-dried with the freshest island air possible? We came in celebration of our 22nd anniversary. We wanted a place that appealed equally to us both as my husband is an avid surfer and prefers oceanfront, whereas I love the ocean but prefer privacy and nature as well. This couldn't have matched better if we had designed it ouselves. Many oceanfront homes along the best surf spots must contend with the sounds of the road as well. Here we somehow only heard ocean and nature even with the road in between. Magical! I poured over the reviews before booking this and have to chuckle at some that I read after experiencing it. Will you hear roosters? Sure- it is Hawaii and they are abundant. Someone suggested bringing earplugs. It would be almost criminal to plug your ears from the sound of the oceans waves rolling in while simultaneously hearing birds chirp and an occasional rooster crow. It was an experience I hadn't been lucky enough to yet stumble upon and we have lived in 7 different states and traveled frequently. I have one hesitance in writing such a positive review and it is that more people may book and it would be harder to get into next time. Mahalo Mele and family!

Comments: We loved the open layout of the upstairs, and great, well-stocked kitchen. The deck and view is fantastic! As others have mentioned, it can get a little warm in the evenings (though the ceiling fans do a great job), and bugs and little lizards are around. We found that leaving a small light on in the kitchen kept them away from the bedroom during the evening. Overall, expect a cottage-like experience and you won't be disappointed. Charlie, the resident cat, is very affectionate. We had to pick up a bag of food for him the first night as he was desperate for something to eat.

Comments: Lovely plantation cabin on the mountain side of North Shore. Easy drive to good swimming, surfing, and snorkeling. Not as secluded as the pictures imply; there are other tenants (including a woman who walks around wearing nothing but flip flops and a hat) on the property so not as quiet/private as you might expect. Nice to be out a way from Haleiwa but serious traffic on the coastal road so budget lots of time for the grocery run.

Comments: Meleana's place is even more beautiful than the pictures do it justice, waking up to a view of the ocean and the trees right in your living room really can't be beat. It's a 25 minute walk to shark's cove, or maybe less if you're a fast walker. There was some of the best snorkeling you can find on the island, if not the best, and was definitely a highlight of our trip. On top of the sunset Beach is across the street and is one of the most beautiful beaches you'll see, right in your front yard practically! Meleana was very quick to respond and couldn't have been more accommodating with her recommendations and suggestions. Some people said there are a lot of bugs, though, I'll be honest, I didn't really see any inside the home aside from the occasional gnat or moth, but it is Hawaii and you are in the country so to speak, so it really wasn't an issue at all. All in all, I'd highly recommend this spot if you're planning on visiting Oahu.

Comments: This was our second time staying at Meleana's place. We absolutely love staying there. It was so hard to leave to head home. We especially enjoyed the rural setting, the location, the privacy, spaciousness of the living area and deck and the gorgeous view. We so much enjoyed the tropical plants and birds, seemed like a paradise. A simple walk to the beach. Excited to go again!

Comments: Location is just as described. It’s a wet tropical climate—so buggy during rainy season, but if you keep the doors closed the mosquitoes are limited inside. It’s just a quick hike down the hill to Pipeline and amazing surf if you enjoy a good beach for surf watching, sunrise/sunset walks or just chilling with a good book, as there are relatively few people around. (Not a swimming beach or good for kids—in the water as the surf is big and there is a current that runs along the shoreline.) The lodge house overlooks the working farm and the produce that is in season is available for purchase—so take advantage of fresh veggies and fruit. Unit is well stocked with amenities and all the folks who work on/around the farm are very friendly. Overall lovely visit and very friendly owner/family and all the friends around. Thank you Mele, Carol and Stacy for your friendly hospitality.

Comments: My husband and I enjoyed the Pipeline Lodge/Waihueana so much we're already talking about staying there again next time we're back on Oahu. We loved the views over the farm and the ocean beyond from the deck; the beautiful jungle backdrop outside the bedroom window; the 5-minute walk down the hill to Pipeline; the convenience of being just a few minutes drive away from Pupukea and Waimea Bay in one direction and Kahuku and Malaekahana in the other; the assortment of organic produce we bought at the Waihuena farm stand and the lodge's ample kitchen and big gas grill. We also really appreciated the ceiling fans in the bedroom, living room, and kitchen -- in addition to the breeze coming through from the deck, these kept the house airy and comfortable. Windows were well screened, keeping the mosquitoes outside. WiFi was great and there was a good desk for working. Meleana, Stacy, and everyone we met at the farm made us feel welcomed.

Comments: We had a great stay. Loved the view and just how relaxing it was to sit up above everything and enjoy. Very quiet and peaceful. It is a bit of a walk to the beach but we booked it expecting that. We enjoy getting out and walking. There was a trailhead just on the other side of the school that we were able walk to also. Plenty of food carts within a short drive that we enjoyed. Our stay was so short we didn’t cook in much. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

Comments: The house is beautiful, especially wirh it's view and surrounding! It is very central and close to Hanalei and a lot of beaches. It's stuffed with everything you need an you have a very large kitchen, where you can cook all togehter! If you love nature, then it's the place to be :)

Comments: The place was in an amazing location and the oceanview from the terrace is beautiful. The feeling of being in the jungle was nice but very humid. There was no windows in the room and that made our bed almost wet all day long. Also the couch not very comfy. Amazing kitchen with an open view and nice to cook and eat around the big table. It was a bit cold at night and the downstairs door was open all the time what made the cat, mosquitos and other animals come in the house. The cat was lovely. Amazing laundry area and outside shower! Thanks for everything! We felt it was overpriced but had a beautiful stay.

Comments: Location is unreal for anyone that surfs across from pipeline! No AC a bit damp when it rains so feels a bit like glamping but hey your in Oahu. Host is chill and responsive.

Comments: There was a lot of liked about this property. The kitchen is magnificent for cooking. It’s large and spacious and well stocked and I love that it has a joint living space. Very open and livable. Some things I didn’t love so much were the screens. The desperately need changing.. some are held in by tape and bugs come in. Also, they were out of mosquito coils and I got badly eaten. When I asked the host about it she told me to goto the store and buy some bc she wouldn’t be able to do it. I understand people get busy but it would have been nice to at least be greeted when we arrived. I never actually met the host just the housekeeper when we showed up to check it a bit early and it wasn’t ready. When I asked about a little later checkout she was kind of rude over text. Also, the shower head is a step above a hose spicket. Once I bought more coils I could enjoy the home more even though it felt like I was camping. And the SWEETEST kitty comes and visits . I tried to text the host for his/her name but she never responded.

Comments: Very charming!! My 14 year old son and I booked a last min trip to Oahu without any reservation. We knew we wanted to stay around the north shore for a few days. I requested the reservations 2 hour before dark for 2 nights. Meleana responded within mins which was wonderful. I wish I had read her check in instruction. which stated every detail on how to get to the farm house from the main road because we completely lost reception a few blocks away. No worry’s we just came back to the main highway and call meleana she was happy to give us direction back up. Right before we arrived we stopped at foodland just 1mile away for a few breakfast items for the next morning. The kitchen was well equipped with a beautiful view of the ocean, very nice pans and a Vitamix for your smoothly lovers out there!! Meleana did let us know about the mosquitoes since we were a couple blocks inland. The first night no bites, going into the second night after it rained a few came out which we didnt mind since we were coming in and out the front porch. My son and I wanted to experience Oahu without our normal resort vacations. Saying at the farmhouse absolutely made us feel like I was living here for years. We will be definitely back with more friends and family

Comments: Amazing view high over the beach from the deck and tree house like feel from large windows in the bedroom. It is like opening you eyes to the jungle. Great amenities in the kitchen for those that want to cook - Vitamix, rice cooker, french press, solid pots and pans, decent knives as well. We would come back.

Comments: Great view in a secluded area. Close to Haleiwa, excellent food trucks and their own farmer's market on Mondays. Unit sits above a working organic farm...the breezes were a little chilly due to the many screens throughout the house, but very tolerable and made us feel like we were staying in the jungle. Great, well equipped kitchen and large dining/living area with an expansive BBQ/Lanai area. Awesome, very friendly and talkative kitty...Hi Charlie! Good Value for a very nice stay!
