  Comments: If I had to pick a single word to describe Nika, it would be "charming". She was a delightful first time host and I am happy to back both her and her abode. Her place is spacious - a rarity in so many NYC homes - and very comfortable. Loved the exposed brick and lots of white. Also, the convenience to Manhattan and nearness to PS1 were great benefits. We met her flatmate briefly, and she, too, seemed nice. Nika also has a gorgeous snow white cat - who doesn't seem to shed at all. Ahead of time communication was excellent, as was check-in. Hope to be able to return.

  Comments: Monika was a wonderful host. Very welcoming and accommodating. Had no problems communicating about keys and needs. She ensured all the essentials were provided and was super helpful and sharing if we needed something. The neighborhood is very convenient. 24 hr stores and subway access within mins. A cool view of the Manhattan skyline from the windows (next to TV in the picture). I used to walk to the river view (a couple of blocks from the place) for a gorgeous view of Manhattan. The room had a closet, bed and a work-desk. Nothing unnecessary. Keela, the cat was fun.

  Comments: Tout était bien préparé : l'immeuble n'est pas magnifique mais son emplacement est pratique ; sans être dans le centre de NY, il n'y a que 3 ou 4 stations pour se retrouver en plein cœur de Manhattan. Nika n'était pas là (elle travaillait et est rentrée tard) et je l'ai à peine vue 3 minutes pour lui dire que nous partions. Elle a l'air très sympa....

  Comments: So nice we stayed twice. This was our second time staying with Nika as we had such a great experience the first time around. Love the area, found a few great local haunts (two that she recommended). Also took the ferry over to Manhattan which was convenient and easy to do. It was a brief stay but felt like a total vacation. And Nika is such a congenial and considerate host.

  Comments: Had a great stay with Nika! The apartment was in a great location just 5-15 minutes on the subway (depending where in Manhattan you wanted) but on a quiet street. Grocery store around the corner was convenient and the kitchen was great. The room was plain but more than enough space for 2 of us and the exposed brick added charm :) We barely saw Nika but the little bit we did she was lovely! We would 100% stay here again!! Great find! Laundromat a few doors down the road which is handy. Great view of Manhattan from the top of the building, be sure to check that out (especially at night).

  Comments: We enjoyed our stay at nikas very much. Due to us being out all the time and Nika being at work we didn't see her much but she provided us with all the necessary information. The apartment is just two blocks from the next metro lines and at night you have a beautiful view over the skyline! The room itself was not that big, but it was big enough for a stay of just a couple of nights. The furniture was more practical. Unfortunately the "personal" touch which makes air bnb stays so special to me was missing. Nevertheless we can recommend the stay at nikas home to anyone who wants to be close to Manhattan :-).

  Comments: My boyfriend and I visited Queens for the first time to participate in a nearby dance marathon. Nika and Kila made us feel so welcome! She was very responsive and patient with us as we worked our way through Manhattan rush hour traffic. We loved staying in Nika's neat and sun-filled apartment. After staying in Manhattan a few times prior, Nika's place was a welcome surprise with its spaciousness and proximity to lots of great places to eat and drink. Being close to the E line was also fantastic for us. The neighborhood felt quite safe to us (especially since we were walking around late at night and early in the morning), and Nika gave us fantastic recommendations for places to eat and also to walk and check out the Manhattan skyline. Be sure to hit up LIC Market for top-notch brunch/lunch and Manducatis Rustica for delicious dinner and mind-blowing desserts. Our favorite things about staying with Nika? Chatting with Nika and with Kila, her awesome cat! Best cat ever. :)

It was less than 30 seconds from a metro station and it took us less than 10 minutes to get to Time Square. The apartment was spacious, bright, clean and cool. Nika has the AC and fans. The neighbourhood was also very safe. The only thing that the bed was a bit hard, but it was otherwise great.

  Comments: My boyfriend and I spent 5 nights in Nikas apartment. She is a very welcoming and kind host, quick to answer messages, and was happy to answer any questions and give tips of where to go etc. The apartment was quite big with a nice and bright living room and kitchen. The apartment had a great location with only 3 minutes to the closest subway, which was only one stop away from Manhattan. The only thing we would like to mention is that the bed is a bit hard and uncomfortable. Other then that the place is great, and we highly recommend it to anyone!

  Comments: I was happy with my experience at Nika's place. Nika is very friendly, though not around that much. The location is great if you want to stay in Queens but take the train to Manhattan--it's a quick trip. The E train and 7 train are both nearby. The bedroom is very pleasant, with plenty of space for your things. The room does not have A/C, but does have a good ceiling fan. If you are allergic to cats, you probably don't want to stay here, but if you like cats, this awesome little dude named Kila is really fun to hang out with, but won't bother you much if you don't want him to. One note: If you have a lot of bathroom stuff, there is not much extra room in the bathroom, with limited counter space and all of Nika's things and her roommate's things in there. Was ok for me, though. All in all, a good experience, and I would go back. Thanks, Nika!

  Comments: Nika's home in Queens is a wonderful little place. Both Nika and her cat are very friendly. We were staying during the summer and a tad concerned that the lack of AC would be a problem but there is a ceiling fan in the room and keeping windows open helps too.The subway is a one minute walk from her place and a couple stops from Manhattan. It was very convenient since that was our primary mode of transportation in NYC and we were always able to transfer to a line that took us to her place. A few notes though, there isn't a microwave available and the shower has a window in it (there are blinds but quite hard to maneuver).

The subway was easy to navigate and very close so getting in and out of Manhattan was a breeze. We came out to New York to look for an apartment of our own, and staying at Nika's allowed us to explore all the different neighborhoods to see which would be the best for us.   Comments: Nous avons passé un merveilleux voyage à New york ! Nous sommes restés 10 jours chez Monica et il faut dire que son appartement est idéalement placé par rapport au métro. La chambre était grande et bien préparée pour notre arrivée. Au bout de la rue se trouve un Diner ou nous allions prendre un petit déjeuner américain typique. On trouve toutes les commodités à proximité : supermarché , fast food....C'était un appartement charmant , loin du bruit incessant de Manhattan. Bonus : Montez sur le toit et appréciez cette vue !!

  Comments: Sono stato nell’appartamento di Nika per 6 giorni e mi sono trovato molto bene. Premessa: l’appartamento si trova al primo piano di un palazzo posto in un punto strategico per raggiungere Manhattan, infatti è a 100 metri sia dalla fermata della metropolitana linea (E) che dalla linea (7) . In appena 10 minuti si raggiunge Manhattan, infatti l’appartamento si trova ad una sola fermata da Manhattan. L’appartamento è così composto: un ampio e luminoso soggiorno con angolo cucina e bella vista sulla skyline di New York, un bagno e 3 camere da letto, in una ci sta normalmente Nika (durante la nostra permanenza era affittata anche quella su Airbnb dato che Nika è stata in vacanza per un mese), la seconda è occupata in pianta stabile da un ragazzo e per finire c’è la camera vera e propria a disposizione degli ospiti. Dimenticavo il bel gatto bianco che è il vero padrone di casa, che vi farà capire quando ha fame miagolando e correndovi dietro, ma del resto è molto amichevole e giocherellone. La camera è abbastanza spaziosa e fornita di un armadio ed una scrivania ed anche il letto è confortevole nonostante sia molto basso. Nonostante la cucina sia completa di tutti gli accessori di base, noi abbiamo utilizzato solamente il tostapane e l’uso del frigorifero, manca però un tavolino su cui fare piccole colazioni. Dato che Nika era in vacanza, abbiamo comunicato tramite sms o telefono con una sua amica che ci ha dato tutte le istruzioni per raggiungere ed entrare nell’appartamento. Nika comunque ci aveva già fornito tutte le indicazioni su come raggiungere l’appartamento tramite metropolitana e siamo rimasti in contatto via mail fino a quando non ci siamo incontrati la sera prima di partire. Il quartiere in cui si trova l’appartamento non l’abbiamo visitato , ma posso solo dire che ci sono un supermercato ed un paio di caffetterie a 50 metri oltre chiaramente alle due linee metropolitane, mi è sembrato comunque molto tranquillo anche di sera. In definitiva consiglio vivamente l’appartamento di Nika.

  Comments: Nika was great! I came with my partner and we felt so comfortable and at home with Nika, her roommate, her adorable kitty, and with her friends. She was so welcoming and warm. What a great place! The apartment is full of light and beautifully decorated. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe walking back from the subway and/or bus. The room was lovely. It had everything we needed and then some. She even provided us with individual towels. Everything aside, Nika personally went above and beyond in welcoming us. She was so open with us and we both very much enjoyed her company.

  Comments: Nous n'avons Jamais vu notre hôte. elle nous a dit qu'elle allait partit le wk quand on arrivait et elle n' a jamais apparu depuis ( des vacances prolongées certainement ?! ). Toute les communication s'est effectuée pas les sms ( ou il faut laisser les clés , de ne pas faire sortir le chat de l' appartement etc ). Par contre, pas d' indication pour l' utilisation de la cuisine. En occurence, pas d' échanges nécessaires concentrant notre séjour. Un peu décevant ! Le seul moment positif c'est l' emplacement de l' appartement par rapport au centre ville.

The apartment has a good location: only 5 minutes walk to the subway and 2 stations from Manhattan. There is also a restaurant at the end of the street.   Comments: Nika was extremely helpful in accommodating two arrival times between my mother and me. The bed was extremely comfortable and the area is very close to public transportation, making getting to and from Manhattan extremely easy. She's got a great cat, and although I didn't see Nika often because of my busy schedule, she was very warm and welcoming to my mother and myself over text. When I had to come home late one evening, she was very accommodating and understanding. All in all, this was a cozy, chic, and well located place to stay! Also, there is an adorable and delicious café right next door to the apartment. Definitely check out their sticky cinnamon roll while you're there!

  Comments: Sehr schönes Appartment, sehr freundliche Gastgeberin, Zimmer zwar klein, aber mit genug Stauraum für 2 Personen und vor allem ruhig - was in New York ein echter Luxus ist. Ein kleines Manko waren die beiden weiteren Mitbewohner im Appartment, die im Beschreibungstext nicht erwähnt werden und die von der Freundlichkeit und Kommunikation her leider das komplette Gegenteil von Nika darstellen. Einzig deswegen ziehe ich einen Stern ab, ansonsten kann ich Nikas Zimmer nur weiterempfehlen.

  Comments: Loved Nika's apartment. Great stay. The place is close to both 7 and E trains. It's about 20 min from Manhattan. The apartment was roomy and very cozy. And the room was clean and well maintained. It really felt like Nika and her roommate put in a lot of effort to make the place feels like home.

  Comments: Very convenient location, quick and easy to get into Manhatten. As the description says, you can expect an authentic Victorian flat with an entrance door that requires some patience ;) Make sure you are available via phone. Nika was almost not there and my German cellphone not yet equipped with an American SIM card, so we had troubles communicating. Big plus: the huge living room is beautiful with a great view. Only sitting/having breakfast somewhere else than in my room (which is perfectly fine but it has almost no sunlight) seemed to be difficult: one will get covered in white fur of her adorable cat :D Otherwise, I had a pleasant overall experience and can recommend it if you don't expect a lot of interaction with the host.

  Comments: Staying with Nica at her LIC apartment was nothing short of wonderful. The room was great, and the outer living area was a delight in decoration and kitty time! Located a mere steps from the E and the 7, and sitting atop a quaint neighborhood cafe (their baguette and ham sandwich is a great breakfast-grab), the location is great for getting in and out of Manhattan. Nica was very friendly and always had a kind word to say.

A sweet neighborhood coffee shop downstairs and a lovely view from the living room windows are priceless. Its a great place to live offbeat the noisy city but still be everywhere in a few minutes. Would go again!

In fact, the E line is directly connected to the JFK sky train. Nika's place is very charming. There's a nice cafe right on her building's corner and a supermarket just a few blocks away, which comes very handy when you wish to buy groceries and fresh fruits.

  Comments: What a great find! Nika's home is in a great location in LIC, near the PS1 museum, restaurants, and the subway, and there's a little park right across the street. Was easy walking distance to a wedding I attended at the Metropolitan Building. She also has a great, playful cat -- and my girlfriend and I love cats, so that is a plus for us! Nika was also very flexible and accommodating when my arrival time was delayed because of work.

  Comments: My stay at Nika's apartment was just great for my quick three day trip to NYC. I loved the location. Nika's apartment is located just a block away from E train. The thing about E train is that it is convenient in getting to / from JFK as well as all major spots in Manhattan like Time Square, Port Authority Bus Terminal, and World Trade Center. Nika's apartment is also located 10 - 15 min walking distance from great selection of restaurants and watering holes along Vernon Blvd. and Jackson Ave. Another big plus for me was that a great coffee shop is located just on the first floor of the building. Second is comfort. I found the apartment fairly quiet from the street noise and the bed is very comfortable. I was able to get restful sleep. Nika's apartment is clean and well organized. It is worth mentioning that the building itself is quiet old but I think this actually adds a charm to the place. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is no elevator to Nika's apartment from the ground level. This was not a problem for me as I travel light and the apartment is located on the 2nd floor. Nika's apartment will be high on my list of places to stay for my next visit to NYC.

  Comments: Super location !! Très bien située , à 2 pas du métro qui amène partout ! Donc très facile de se déplacer car il est en plus sur la ligne du métro pour l aéroport JFK ! Il y a un supermarché juste en bas ouvert jusqu'à 10h du soir donc très pratique. Une belle vue sur Manhattan depuis le toit de jour comme de nuit et des quais de Long Island ou l on peut prendre un bateau "taxi" qui va jusqu'à wall Street et profiter de la vue pour 5 dollars. Nika a été très accueillante et ouverte et nous a donné de bons conseils ! L appartement est très bien , la chambre spacieuse avec tout ce qu'il faut. Appartement calme malgré la présence d un autre couple mais très discret. Juste quelques difficultés pour trouver comment récupérer les clés mais pas d autres soucis ! On recommande!! Merci Nika!

The listing lived up to all it showed and more. We were fortunate to find on street parking for free only a block away, unheard of in NYC! We were a block from the subway, a quaint park across the street, had a lovely view of the city, and great food around the corner. It was a nice neighborhood, we felt very comfortable and safe. My partner and I were very impressed with the awesome accommodations, the location, and especially meeting and getting to know our host. She made us feel very welcome, provided a clean environment, helped answer any questions we had and over all made our stay very pleasurable! We connected better than expected with our host having many things in common, we now consider her a friend. We look forward to visiting her again on our next trip to NYC and are excited to use AirBnB when traveling elsewhere. All thumbs up here!!

She stored the purchases we made online and had delivered there a week prior to our arrival and she waited for us to arrive on a Friday night when our flight got delayed. We wished that she would've mentioned that other people were staying in the house while we were there. Everything went fine, but it could have created some awkward situations. She has a very lovely cat which we were happy to tend to went she wasn't around. All in all everything went smoothly and the house served the purpose that we wanted to. Queen is a nice neighborhood and close to her house, there're some restaurants, diners, cafes and the subway. We felt safe to get to the house at all times. And when needed it was easy to call for a Uber or cab.

Very convenient to both Manhattan and Brooklyn, but also led to exploration of the neighborhood which includes some great museums like PS1 and Museum of the Moving Image. There are also diners and local restaurants in case you come in late from a day of exploring. Nika was very sweet, accommodating, and both she and her cat made us feel at home. The one surprise was that there were other guests staying in another bedroom at the same time. It was no big deal, but it is a lot of people to share one bathroom. It also did not include a hot tub, as listed. But all in all, it was a great spot, and would recommend.

She (and her adorable cat!) made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The communication with her was very good. We arrived very early in the morning but we had no problem getting the keys and settling in in our room. The appartment is ideally situated, in a calm neighborhood just a few subway stops from Manhattan, with two subway stations nearby. There is a nice coffee shop around the corner as well as a deli. Our room was clean and comfortable, perfect for 2, just big enough for 3. A little bonus: the view of Manhattan from the rooftop of the building is amazing! We would definitely stay stay there again!

  Comments: I knew I would love New York as I had been a few times before but I didn't know about the accommodation as this was my 2nd ever airbnb experience. I knew the location would be great as I used to stay just a couple of hundred yards away but sadly that apartment has been demolished :( The location really is perfect; being just outside Manhattan in Long Island City you are slightly away from all the craziness but only 4 Subway stops from Times Square! The apartment itself is lovely and forms part of a Victorian building. The views from the light & airy living room are stunning; especially at night! Being on the mainland you get some amazing views of Manhattan that you would not get if you were staying in it! Ask Nika for places you can walk/drink/eat and get a great view! As I said, the apartment is conveniently located for access to Manhattan and there are also a number of great bars, restaurants etc in close proximity. Nika as a host was great fun and made our trip even more enjoyable! She is very chilled out and kind of 'adapts' to your personality. For example, myself and my partner were there for a week, so after rushing around all day we'd like to chill in the apartment. If Nika was around she'd happily join us for a chat/glass of wine etc and gave us recommendations of where to eat/drink. Another couple were there at the same time and weren't quite so sociable so Nika let them get on with what they needed to do and helped them out when they asked any questions. What more can you ask from a host than one that fits in with you?! Nika also has a beautiful cat whom we completely fell in love with! If you're not a cat person he will leave you be :) I don't know when we'll get back to NYC but when we do we'd love to stay with Nika again if she's still doing this caper! We got on very well together and we're now working on her to visit us in England :)

The apartment is lovely and luminous.the neighborhood is nice: 5min waking from the subway station (M F lines) and 5min walking from the waterfront. Nika is a great host, very kind and helpfull. Cleaning was done just at our arrival in common space. Another room was rent during our stay and there is a cat in the apartment.

  Comments: Nika's apartment is a great location, and was convenient for me to stay in. I never met Nika but she was cordial in communication. The room is small but generally in good condition and clean. I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the rest of the apartment - there was cat litter on the floors and things were generally not very tidy. Secondly, as I was in NYC for work, I mostly used the apartment to sleep in, and was woken up 2 nights around midnight due to people conversing loudly in the living room til 2 or 3 in the morning. The sound insulation is not strong enough for this to happen (especially on weeknights). If you're looking for a quiet place to sleep, I unfortunately cannot recommend this spot. Otherwise, very convenient location for exploring LIC and access to the city.

  Comments: Nika's place is spacious and inviting. We knew that Nika wouldn't be home when we arrived but were surprised to find 2 other people there. They were super sweet and it wasn't a problem, just surprising when you don't know what your walking into at 10 pm. Our room was good size and we were delighted to have an air conditioner! Bed and the little pull-out chair futon were very comfortable. Nika left bottles of shampoo, conditioner, water, and towels for our use. We found free on-street parking close by and instructions to get in were easy. Very much a student vibe and I had flashbacks of crashing at people's apartments back in college. Nothing fancy but perfect for our needs. Oh, and complimentary nudges from the cutest and friendliest kitty were a bonus!

  Comments: I lived with Monika for 14 days. Her apartment is exactly as described and shown on the picture. She is a super nice and helpful girl with a cute and cuddly cat. The communication was always great and she gave always useful tips if some were needed. From her apartment it is a 5 minute walk to the Subway station court square, where you can get to the 7, E, M and G train. From court square you are within 10 minutes in the city (3 stops to Grand Central). There are also supermarkets and some nice restaurants around the apartment and the Hudson River, with a great view of the Manhattan skyline, is not so far as well. I really enjoyed the stay at Monika’s place and can really recommend it to anyone. Thank you, Monika for a great stay!
