A private bedroom with shared access to kitchen and dining room in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance to many of Brooklyn's best offerings. We are a quick subway ride to Manhattan on multiple lines. The perfect spot for those enjoying the city by day, and who want a comfortable, friendly space to rest at night.
Space: Our guest bedroom is up one flight of stairs, and comes fully furnished with a queen-size bed (very comfy memory-foam mattress), dresser, bookshelves, and a 47" LED flatscreen (plus towels & sheets). There are two windows overlooking a luscious and green backyard, and receives beautiful light. Our apartment is the upper two floors of a classic brownstone on a quiet block in a historic neighborhood near downtown Brooklyn. Lots of original detail intact throughout the apartment, with charming (nonworking) fireplaces in each room. The full apartment spans two floors and is about 1600 square feet of space (two bedrooms, plus a nursery, kitchen, dining room, and living room). It is an original Brooklyn brownstone, built at the turn of the century. We’ve put a lot of work into furnishing it tastefully and adding a lot of greenery -- it’s a very peaceful space to visit.

Neighborhood Overview: The apartment is in the historic neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn, on the corner of beautiful Fort Greene Park. We live in a two-family brownstone in a very safe neighborhood. Nearby are lots of fun bars, restaurants, and cafes along the more commercial streets of DeKalb Avenue, Lafayette Street, and Fulton Street. Dining options include wine bars, live jazz lounges, Ethiopian/Thai/Indian/Japanese restaurants, and beer gardens.
Notes: - We have a cheerful and energetic toddler girl, who sleeps from 8PM - 7AM usually, but upon waking does make standard toddler noises. During the weekdays she is away at preschool from 9AM - 6PM, but other times (early evening and weekends) we are in and out of the house for activities and mostly upstairs in the living room with her. - While the bedroom is at the back of the house and typically quiet, during summer months the neighbors may have guests in the backyard on the weekends. Any noise usually is over by midnight and not distinctly audible unless the windows are open (there is an AC in the window during the summer).
Transit: The apartment is only two blocks from Barclays Center as well as the renowned Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). For transportation, the G train (Fulton station) is right around the corner, the C train (Lafayette station) is 3 blocks away, and Atlantic/Barclays station (2/3/4/5/B/D/Q/R plus the Long Island Rail Road [LIRR] commuter train) is about a 4 minute walk. We are also close to the DeKalb station (Q/R/B/D) which is only one stop to Manhattan.
Access: The apartment has a shared kitchen where you are welcome to make meals or just grab a cup of coffee in the morning. We also have a dining room you are welcome to use at your leisure. There is a shared full bathroom with shower & tub between the guest bedroom and our bedroom.
Interaction: We are a married couple with a toddler daughter (Ryan) and friendly french bulldog (Frank) who will both happily greet you at the door. We are originally from the Midwest and Malaysia respectively, but have lived in New York City for over 15 years (with a recent 3 year stay in Burma). We've hosted on Airbnb and been Airbnb guests many times around the world, and love to meet new people. We adore our neighborhood in Fort Greene and are always happy to help with visit suggestions and finding fun things to do.
House Rules: - There is a small kitchen and dining room for shared use, though please no cooking meat. - No smoking inside the house or on the stoop. Guests may smoke on the sidewalk outside the house. - No shoes inside please.

Comments: We spent 1 night in Megan's room. It is a very nice and large room. It is convenienty located. There are restaurants, shops and the subway stations located close-by (roughly 5-10 minutes walk). The room is surprisingly quite and you rather hear the birds in the backyard than the traffic. Megan and Jason are nice fellows and provide you with a coffee in the morning and information on the neighourhood.

Comments: Great house, beautiful home with two great dogs. Walkable to lots of cool stuff, and the room is private and very large. Megan and Jason were friendly and gave good tips on the neighborhood. Overall just a great stay.

Comments: My partner and I live near this apt, but we don't have room for guests. So when his mother visited us for a long weekend recently, she stayed here. The apartment is lovely, Megan was great to deal with and my partner's mother enjoyed her stay. We'll definitely recommend it for future guests.

Comments: Megan was an amazing host, very welcoming and helpful. Room is pretty big, beautiful, comfortable and has a great aesthetic design with attention to details! The whole apartment is lovely and located in a quiet neighborhood with lots of nice places nearby. Highly recommended! Thanks again for everything, Megan!

Comments: Our intern Alice stayed here and totally loved it! She said that Megan and her husband were perfect hosts and that the space was amazing. I live nearby, so I know how great of a location this is, so I was happy to have Alice somewhere near tons of great restaurants, cafes, etc. -- as well as all the major subway lines. Alice said this was definitely a five-star experience and she'd be very happy to stay there again.

Comments: I stayed at megan and JT's beautiful home for 1 week! It was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anybody visiting NYC. The house is decorated with thought and detail (lots of cute vintage memorabillia) and is located within walking distance to multiple subway lines. The surrounding neighbourhood is filled with delicious restaurants (go to Habana outbpost for the frozen mojitos!) as well as super cheap nail salons. I would love to stay there again! PS: Frank and Bean are two of the cutest dogs you will ever meet!

Comments: We loved the apartment and its location. Megan prepared everything for our arrival--a map, a letter about the area restaurants, towels, etc.. The bed we slept in was gloriously comfortable. We strongly recommend our hosts to any future visitors to Brooklyn.

Comments: Great location, friendly hosts (and cute dogs), and a truly beautiful brownstone...I can only strongly recommend staying here! Many trains arrive straight from Penn Station, so you can get here in under 30 mins from midtown Manhattan. Fort Greene is lovely neighborhood, and pleasant park at your doorstep. Megan was very helpful as we arrived later than expected, but it still worked out with getting in. We found water and restaurant recommendations waiting. Favorite part was the old, old house, immaculately clean yet pleasantly worn, which much reminded me of London. In short, I cannot say enough positive things about the "BBB!"

Comments: We had a very enjoyable stay at Megan and Jason's place. They were helpful when needed and discrete in sharing their apartment. Their two friendly dogs Frank and Bean were equally respectful and stayed calm most of the time. Their lovely Brooklyn Brownstone is just a few steps away from the Brooklyn Academy of Music and equally close to several subway lines. So it is mostly a one-stop ride to anywhere in Manhattan and also other places of interest in Brooklyn and Queens. The guest room is spacious and tastefully decorated. The bed is very comfortable. In brief, what you see is what you get and we would readily repeat this experience which allowed us to find peace and rest in a cosy atmosphere while visiting the bustling concrete jungle.

Comments: Jason and Megan's gorgeous brownstone was a great place to wake up in each morning and come back to each evening. Their home looked as described in the photos and was warm, cosy and clean. Most importantly, it had a working shower with very decent water pressure. We had to share the common bath with them but scheduling wasn't a problem at all. The house is also beautifully decorated with lots of lovely knick-knacks that really capture Jason and Megan's quirky style and offers lots of photo ops. The subway is a short walk away and there are lots of convenience stores and eateries nearby. The neighbourhood is quiet and feels really safe even at night. They also left us a useful print-out of places to eat nearby. Really useful and thoughtful. Megan and Jason weren't around when we checked in but we were warmly greeted at the top of the stairs by their four-legged welcome crew, Frank and Bean. Real sweethearts. Never met such calm pooches before. You'll almost never hear them and there's no offensive doggy smell either. We'd certainly return to Jason and Megan's if we ever visit NYC again. Gorgeous home, friendly couple and wonderful dogs. Recommended!

Comments: This room in Megan and Jason's home is a wonderful place to stay. It is large, clean and very comfortable - quiet too. They provide dresser space and hanging space for your clothes so you can properly settle in. The kitchen is small but has all you'll need for making breakfast, etc. Oh, and they have a fantastic shower. The location within Brooklyn could hardly be bettered, with many different subway lines all within a few minutes' easy walk, including fast lines into Manhattan and to JFK airport. The local area of Fort Greene is an excellent mix of original Brooklyn and some gentrification, making it feel like exactly the right level of 'authentic experience'. Not too full of hipsters but also very safe and serene. There were plenty of good cafes, restaurants and shops nearby for all my needs. Megan and Jason provided a list of their favourites - which was handy for my first foray out when I arrived rather tired from the flight. Megan was very helpful and friendly by email in the run up to my visit. I had a few queries about some arrangements and she answered them all speedily. I found I was a little chilly on my first night so asked for another blanket and it was provided straight away. During my stay, I bumped into both Megan and Jason almost every day and we would have a quick friendly chat. I felt like I was at home, but was also completely independent. Their dogs are friendly but mainly keep to the other room, so there wasn't any overwhelming dogginess (or any doggy smells at all!) That said, if you don't like dogs or have any allergies to animal hairs you should think twice. Overall, this is a lovely room with delightful hosts in a great location. Perfect!

Comments: Our stay with Megan was incredible. She and her partner have the most lovely house i've been to in Brooklyn. We had a beautiful big sunny room, with a really comfy bed. Their apartment is so convenient to all of Brooklyn and Manhattan (1 stop and your in Manhattan.. amazing!) Beautiful Fort Greene Park only 100m away, great cafes, restaurants and bars only minutes away. Made me want to move to Fort Greene! Thanks again Megan :) And thanks Frank & Bean, the most friendly, loving, fun dogs in NYC!

Comments: Awesome location, being situated near-ish 3 subway stations with a myriad choice of train lines. Especially helpful to be one stop away from Atlantic Terminal, which is where you can take the LIRR to/from Jamaica Station (for Air Train to JFK Airport). DeKalb Ave Station is only one stop away from Manhattan, so it's really quick to get in and out. There are numerous food options in the area. We especially loved La Bagel Delight on Lafayette for breakfast (poppy seed bagels are delish!). Unfortunately, I got food poisoning after eating at 67 Burger (although my partner was fine), so be warned. Our room was spacious, airy and quiet (except when there was a dinner party in the backyard), and the charming old brownstone is tastefully decorated with little curios in unexpected places. Megan and Jason are a laid-back, easy-going couple. Arranging logistics with them was seamless and we had no trouble at all with check in/out and any queries, even though we hardly saw them. Frank and Bean are adorable and we missed having them around when they went on holiday over the weekend with their owners.

Comments: This is the perfect place where we stay when visiting our grandbabies, who live just across the street. The room is peaceful with garden views, the hosts are gracious, easy, and helpful sharing their lovely space, and the location is very convenient to park, restaurants, subway lines, BAM, the new sports center, etc. We just love staying with Megan.

Comments: We've had a wonderful stay at Megan's place. Her apartment is very cozy, full of small details. The room itself is huge, with big windows that let in a lot of light and a very comfortable bed. Better yet, the room faces a back garden, meaning it's very quiet all the time. We slept very well there. The location is also very convenient, close to many subway stations that between then seems to serve every line in New York. Just to have an idea, in the five days we were there we never had to make a connection - there was always a line that would take us exactly where we wanted to be. I doubt that any location in Manhattan would be so convenient. Last but not least, the apartment comes equipped with the most adorable dogs ever. We loved Frank and Beans, and sometimes we almost wished we could stay the whole day in the apartment just so we could play with them. Highly recommended.

Comments: Booking with Megan was a breeze! Her and her husband were so incredibly accommodating and it made our experience very pleasant. One thing about being in New York is that you have to walk, walk and walk and this place had 3 things I loved: accommodating hosts (w/luggage before check-in), safe neighborhoods and good eats just one or two blocks away. The brownstone is about 25 minutes walking distance from the Brooklyn bridge, you can be sure to find very unique eclectic restaurants and cafes and only about a 6 min walk to the subway. The place came with all the amenities one may need. The room is very cute and BIG, vintage-like with a modern twist. I just loved that we stayed in an almost 100 year old place. You all you need: iron, dresser, side table, TV, hairdryer, towels, wifi, etc. We only really needed a place to sleep and whereas it may be a bit strange to be in someone's home, it didn't feel like that because there of the way this 3-story place is built and the hosts give you plenty of privacy. I'd definitely stay here again!

Comments: Megan was great—really accommodating in letting us check in early after a red-eye flight (so appreciated!). The room is a large and lovely —though a little noisy, if the neighbors are out back—and the location is close to a lot of restaurants, bars, and subway stops. Megan helpfully left us a map of nearby restaurants to check out.

Comments: It was a pleasure meeting Megan and her family. The place was clean and accurate to what was listed. I enjoyed staying at a spacious bedroom nicely decorated along with the entire house. Directions to and check in were very easy to understand with assistance they provided. I can feel the hospitality of the host from how they were responsive in exchanging messages and prepared a printout of the places recommended to eat in he neighborhood. They are close to a few stations which provide easy access to the city and to and from the airport. I would stay here again if I had a chance to be in the area. Highly recommended.

Comments: Megan's place is a beautiful house full of character. It is sparkling clean and has lots of lovely little touches in the room and bathroom. You can say that the hosts take pride in their home. We are happy that we chose to stay there as the location was very good, close to Manhattan but we still got to familiarise ourselves with Brooklyn - it was just 20 minutes walk to Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge or there was a subway just a short walk away. Megan and Jason gave us subway map so it was easy to navigate through Brooklyn and Manhattan. We can't recommend Megan's place enough.

Comments: We had a wonderful stay with Megan and Jason, our room was lovely, large, and tasteful decorated as was the whole house. They’ve clearly put lots of thought into their gorgeous home. We never had issues using the bathroom, nor any noise issues, we slept very soundly - it also helped the bed was super comfortable, probably the best we’ve had on our travels! Frank definitely loved the belly rubs and we loved giving them to her! The location was great, safe and plenty of see and do nearby as well as easy access to Manhattan and subways. Definitely recommend this as a lovely place to stay.

Comments: Megan and Jason’s place is beautiful. You can tell it’s very loved and has had a lot of thought and care into it. The room itself was huge, with the bathroom right next door. The location was great - in a quiet street yet still a stones through away from multiple metro stations, Fort Greene park and lots of shops. We walked into Manhattan everyday (granted we enjoy walking), but that shows how accessible and close it is to both Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge. The place was extremely clean. Thanks again Megan and Jason!

Comments: We had a wonderful stay at Megan’s, a beautiful place tucked away in a quiet corner of Brooklyn, yet located centrally enough to provide easy access to JFK, Manhattan & other key locations via a variety of light rail & subway transport solutions. Megan provided a list of so many good recommendations we could barely work through all of them; those that we DID visit most certainly didn’t disappoint. Their house reminds me of something you’d see in a movie; highly recommended! We know where we’ll be staying next time we visit the Big Apple!

Comments: As a former NYer and Brooklynite, I can say this is an exceptional home in a great location, with a truly delightful family. A classic NY brownstone, close to ALL subway lines (15-25 minutes to Manhattan/15 minutes to Williamsburg), near parks and cafes, and yet very quiet. High ceilings, wood floors, and charming furnishings add to the experience. We would gladly stay here again and recommend it highly! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Comments: This was a really nice, clean stay in a very convenient part of Brooklyn. I was a little worried before we got there about the distance to Manhattan and things to do, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. This apartment was convenient to the trains/subways, and good walking distance to many cute neighborhoods, restaurants and bars in Brooklyn and even into lower Manhattan if you're up for a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge (not as long as it seems). The room was bright during the day and dark at night, not loud, and the bed was super comfortable. Their adorable dog is a major plus.

Comments: This was a really great place to stay. The room is 'period', its furnished accordingly. It was a nice room just to be in and to look at, in terms of its architecture and features. The hosts were really accommodating and helpful. The location - its on a lovely street, the wider area has really interesting things to see. I walked a couple of times from the house into Manhattan, a lovely way to start the day. Overall very pleased and would recommend.

Comments: We don't know from where to start with all the positive aspect of this place! First of all the location, it made our visit in NY. There are lots of subway to reach any borough of NYC! The house is beautiful, stylish, warm (in winter) and clean as our room too. In particular the bed was a cloud! Last but not least the hosts, Megan, Jason (Ryan and Frankie the dog) are super nice, thoughtful and available to give you recommendation but at the same time they are very discreet. 100% recommended!

Comments: Great location where a lot of subways are nearby. Sensitive and nice interior. A little shame that when i visit the family is out for traveling so i live in the house all by myself. If they were there, im sure it will be a convenient & local experience of New York life!
