  Comments: Beautiful apartment, hidden gem near the East village area. Great location with loads of fantastic restaurants in walking distance. The apartment itself is very light and airy, great little balcony area with big sash windows. Mayra has decorated the apartment really nicely- simple and uncluttered, and laid fresh bedding and towels out for us. The double bunk bed is fun, and makes the room more spacious. Kitchen area is useful with everything you need. She was also really helpful, left us a map and useful suggestions, and was on-hand for any questions we had. The two of us had a great stay in the apartment and would definitely stay with Mayra again!! :D

  Comments: The room is in a 2 bedroom apartment (the second room had another guest) in a great part of New York city, with lots of restaurants, shops, and pubs right outside and lots of young people having a good time, a friendly neighborhood. Mayra was a very welcoming host and the room was nice and quiet. I had friends staying at the St. Marks hotel around the corner complaining about the noise while I slept. The bathroom is New York apartment sized but adequate, the kitchen area is functional with coffee making (my only priority).

  Comments: A great place to stay! The complex is a on a busy street with plenty of food and shopping in the area. But even with all that, it's still very quite in the actual apartment. Mayra was very helpful and friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. We'll definitely be back!

  Comments: My sister and I had wonderful days in NY! The stairs of the building are not too welcoming! But except the stairs the apartament is really lovely, and the room was very VERY nice!! The location is really good too. There is a metro station so close, but the center is not far so we loved to arrive everywhere walking! Mayra is so friendly and kind, very corteous! And also the other guys we met in the apartament. We had great time in Mayra's room!

  Comments: I enjoyed our stay at Mayra's home. She was away the weekend we stayed at her place but the place had a warm feeling (good sunlight and visual space) for a studio apartment sized space. Apartment was clean and located in the heart of East Village. Despite being on a noisy street, the apartment faces the back so it was very quiet as advertised. The apartment allows easy access all the bars, restaurants, cafes in both the east and west village area. Also, during the weekend, I found free parking west of 5th Ave. The IRT east side subway is just couple of blocks away. It was very easy to get to the Upper west side as well as getting to other parts of Manhattan. Definitely a good weekend excursion place to stay if you are looking to do alot of stuff in the city rather than spending alot of time in the apartment.

We were surprised how close to the center it is and about the good location in St. Marks St, full of small restaurants. The room was clean and everything was there, even if we didn't meet Mayra in person. The only thing that could be improved: The light bulb in the bathroom didn't work and so it was a bit dark.

  Comments: My experience staying at Mayra's was fantastic. She was very accommodating and made my stay very comfortable and easy. She communicated very clearly before I arrived, which made getting in and getting set-up easy. Once I was there, she was only a phone call away if I had any questions about the apartment or the area. She also left some Time Out New York magazines on the table which was helpful for checking out local events. Overall, I would high recommend staying at her place - great experience and I would definitely do it again.

  Comments: My friend and I stayed at Mayra's for 5 nights and have a very mixed review..... The flat itself is in a great location right in the East Village. Loads of bars/restaurants really close by, great access to public transport and, if you are happy to, easy walking distance to a lot of areas. Mayra's housemate was LOVELY...friendly, helpful and really accommodating. Unfortunately Mayra had not told him we were staying, so we were lucky he was in when we arrived as the friend who was supposed to let us in was not there. Mayra had another friend who had been staying in the room, so when we arrived her stuff was still in the room. Very confusing! Eventually the friend arrived with the keys, but we were left to change the bed ourselves, the room was a little dirty and it was initially pretty uncomfortable as her roommate did not know we were coming and apparently other bookings had been made without him knowing. Also we were told he would be travelling a lot, he was often away most of the time and we would basically have the apartment to ourselves...not true. Luckily he was great, made us feel welcome and at home and we had a fantastic stay in New York despite an interesting start. We were out and about a lot so only used the room for sleeping so it was all good; as mentioned, great location...but it felt like the host had not really been that honest with us about the set up before our arrival.

  Comments: Me and my two friends stayed at Mayra's for the weekend so we could attend Comic Con, and I couldn't ask for anything more! She was a very sweet and accommodating host, and literally thought of everything, including a map to find her place, a coffee maker, and the wi-fi password! It was very easy getting to Times Square since the NQR is right there. Oh, and not to mention, there's delicious, cheap food right on the block. Great experience, I wholeheartedly recommend staying here!

  Comments: It was a good place to stay if you're staying for a short time. The place was very clean. It was cozy; as mentioned it is located on a very busy street but that business could not be heard from the apartment. Mayra kept in contact which was very helpful. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is because the room was very hot (I know it's fall/winter season but still way too hot). I didn't ask how to control the temp but I'm sure you can control it, if not then bring tshirts and shorts to sleep in. But other than that everything was fine. Probably will be my go to stay :)

The street is very cool and East Village is great for dinner with cheap and good restaurants. The room is big, thanks to the structure of the bed. Th toilet is really small, but enough. Please! Be aware is a 4th floor with no elevator. And it is an old building, so the stairs are high. Mayra is very friendly, we never met her, but we were in contact by mail. Provably you will be sharing the flat with Dominic, fantastic guy. You would not notice he is in the flat. Our first experience with air b&b was much better as we expected. Thanks Mayra!!!!

  Comments: Staying at Mayra's was one of the highlights of our trip. The apartment was bright, beautiful and the little balcony (fire escape) was perfect for a morning stretch and coffee. The Apartment is right in the middle of the city and it truly felt like we were one of the local's while staying here (we even became regulars at the bar across the street!). While Mayra was unable to meet us when we got there, she gave us all the details ahead of time and made it very easy to figure everything out. We had a bit of a mix up at the beginning she was available to answer all of our questions late into the night! We felt very safe and would definitely recommend her spot to others!   Comments: It was an absolute pleasure staying at Mayra's place. The description was everything we expected and more. It was a great location to bars, great restaurants, short distance to lower Manhattan (which was perfect as we celebrated July 4th at Brooklyn Bridge), and she gave excellent recommendations as far as what to do in town. The room was very clean, presentable, there were clean towels, and we actually ran into her roommate once as we all stumbled in after a night out. She kept good contact with us for what to do around town, keeping us updated on the spots to hit. She was a wonderful host. Would love to stay there again!

The apartment itself is right in the center of downtown Manhattan, very easy for commute purposes, but it's a 4 flight walk up, so be ready for that. The building itself is kind of dirty, very small hallways, but the apartment was very clean. Great little getaway!

Mayra always kept in contact with us throughout our stay to make sure that we were doing alright, and she even sent us a few recommendations of things that were happening in the city that weekend. Her apartment was PERFECT, both in terms of location and interior decor :) There were so many good food places within walking distance and needless to say, we definitely indulged in the food that East Village had to offer. The apartment is perfect - you really do feel like you have the apartment to yourself as the other flat mate is very rarely there. The Highlights - Extremely close to the Subway. No noise and beautiful light in the apartment. In the heart of the East Village - the coolest part of Manhattan New York. Awesome Yoga Classes ($10 Recommended Donation) at Yoga for the People - 50m down the road. Live Jazz every night at Jules - 200m down the road. $1 Pizza at Two Bros Pizza - 10m down the road. You will definitely have an awesome time and we would recommend this place to anyone :)

  Comments: We didn't meet Mayra during our 6 night stay but she stayed in contact with us the whole time making sure we had enough things. Dominic her flatmate was there but I never saw him and Debra only saw him once. The room was nice and cosy. The area was fantastic and lots of places around East Village to eat. We only tried a few but recommend Crifdogs, Pudding and Barcade was a fun bar/arcade place. Everything we needed was provided, the bathroom was especially warm which was important as it was quite cold weather during our visit. Would recommend staying here due to the great location and cleanliness.

  Comments: Io e mie sorelle siamo state per 4 notti nell'appartamento di Mayra. Non l'abbiamo mai incontrata anche se via email e via messaggio è stata molto disponibile a fornirci tutte le informazioni richieste. Anche il suo coinquilino era via e quindi abbiamo avuto la massima privacy. La posizione dell'appartamento è sicuramente ottima in quanto si trova in una bella zona di New York e a pochi passi dalla stazione della metropolitana da cui partire per esplorare la città. L'arredamento è un po' modificato rispetto alle foto e quindi in realtà la camera risultava un po' più piccola per la presenza di un divano, che però è stato utile in quanto l'abbiamo utilizzato come terzo letto. La pulizia non era al top, soprattutto quella del palazzo lasciava a desiderare. Come specificato nell'annuncio, ci sono quattro piani di scale, strette e alte, da fare prima di arrivare all'appartamento: utili per fare ginnastica! Per chi soggiorna in autunno/inverno: la camera e soprattutto il bagno sono caldissimi perché il riscaldamento è altissimo!

  Comments: We had a great time at Mayra's home. The apartment was clean and safe, and the location couldn't be better! We were close to a number of awesome cafes and restaurants. Being 2 blocks away from the Astor Place metro station was a plus as well. We had some trouble finding the exact spot, but you'll find it if you look closely enough!

The building was kind of shabby and old but it's in a really safe part of town close to loads of food options. The bedroom is really warm, so bring cool weather pajamas! The apartment itself is very nice and very well heated, overall everything was very good. Location is one of the best you can get, it is just about 10 minutes walk to subway so you can easily get wherever you need on nyc by subway. There are also a lots of bars, clubs, shops, restaurants and cafes in the district. I would recommend this place to others.

  Comments: Mayra was great with communication - very easy to find the place, get in, and leave etc. We never saw the other roommate which meant it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Lovely, very clean little apartment - only comment would be that the bed is a climb-up and separated from the communal kitchen by a curtain so probably not ideal for older people or a couple! Fine for us though (two friends). Neighborhood is wonderful for getting around Manhattan and Williamsburg, but the street is a bit rough - lots of tattoo places and take out joints - and the building corridors smell and are dirty... fine once you get inside apartment but again might not suit older people!   Comments: The appartement has a great location as it is close to subway stations and as it is in fact close to some very nice neighbourhoods such as soHo. Although we faced difficulties about heating and hot water which were due to an explosion in the area, Mayra tried her best to compensate for the inconvenience. She recommended us some restaurants and bars which turned out to be nice ones. She was reachable via (Hidden by Airbnb) all the time.

Beskrivningen av boende stämde väl överens med verkligheten, även om jag trodde att kvaliteten på boendet skulle vara högre; jag hade t ex inte förstått att det var en våningssäng. Duschen fungerade inte riktigt. Av den anledningen lämnade jag boende tre dagar tidigare. Men läget är fantastiskt i East Village.

  Comments: The location Of the apartment is super, you're right in the middle of everything. All worked out smoothly, we didn't get to meet Mayra but she answered fast on any kind of questions via (Hidden by Airbnb) . But the apartment itself is not at all as shown on the pictures. The windows were extremely dirty and you could not close them. (Luckily it was hot so we needed fresh air ;)) The sheets were clean and the bed was good (we slept like babies!) but apart from that we did not want to spend a lot of time there. Especially the bathroom was dirty and the shower worked very poorly. It is really disappointing when you compare the pictures to the reality. All in all we had a great time in NYC but that was definitely not due to the apartment.

But the pictures doesn't match with the reality, the room had no furnitures and the apartment and the sheets was dirty, the shower no more pressure. Mayra was reactive about this problem but I was disappointed about the apartment. It's a pity because it could be better. Appartement bien situé et calme par rapport à la rue, par contre nous avons trouvé l'appartement et les draps sales et la douche sans aucune pression, Mayra qui est très disponible et réactive a réglé ses problèmes sous 2 jours mais je reste assez déçue les photos ne correspondent pas à la réalité

  Comments: Although we didn’t meet Mayra was a very nice and helpful host, provided us all the needed information. The communication with her was easy and quick just as the check-in and the check-out. The apartment is in a great surrounding, right in the heart of the East Village, surrounded by great restaurants, bars and cool places. It is a good starting point to discover the city by foot, or you can also get on the Metro easily as it is a few blocks away. The apartment is on the 4th floor so be prepared for climbing the steps :) If you prefer privacy this place may not be the right choice for you as the room is not fully separated – there is a window between the room and the kitchen, divided by a curtain. The flatmate of Mayra (and maybe his girlfriend too) lives there as well. We didn’t meet much but somebody was home mostly when we got back. The flat was a bit messy, especially the bathroom.

  Comments: Mayra was very approachable and sent all information ahead. The flat was in a fab location, but unfortunately the state of the flat wasn't very great at all. It was very run down, water flooding from the shower, there were no pots to cook and no hob so you better eat out which for us meant spending more money than originally intended. We did not get the room on the picture but instead a very simple room with 1 bed, 1 sofa, 1 cupboard. Not cosy or personal in any way and our main roommates were not the one mentioned (who had left when we arrived although he was still introduced to us via email) but 2 other Airbnber's and several pidgeons constantly sitting and screaming outside of the window. If you only intend to be here for the hours you sleep it's OK. But it does not make you feel homely so if you intend to spend time in the AirBnB itself, cook, and hang out you may not like it here.

  Comments: The short- I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. For what it offers, it's significantly over priced. The long- This was my first time trying AirBnB and I feel terrible to have dragged my family along for the experience. The front entrance smelled of piss and the hallway inside wasn't any better. At the base of the steps inside is where the building's trash is thrown, it seems, but rather than cans of trash, it was a pile of garbage overflowing into the hallway. Then came trouble with the apartment door/lock. My family tried at it for 10-15 minutes before we decided to call Mayra because it was definitely a problem with the door, not us. Luckily, Mayra was readily accessible by phone, but even her detailed directions couldn't help us in. She offered to come by to open the apartment door, which was nice, but now we were left waiting in the dirty narrow halls for 40 minutes. It was about 8:30pm when we called by the way... everything thus far was very disheartening, especially after a long and tiring day of exploring New York. During our 40 minute wait, we found that we were in the company of 4 rats scurrying back and forth through the pile of trash. When Mayra arrived, she too admitted it was normally difficult to open the door.. It just so happened that the door was being extra difficult with us. Hopefully, this is not a problem with future AirBnBers. Once inside, we did not feel anymore comfortable- it was not what the pictures showed at all! I've stayed in many hostels over the years and I would equate the state of this apartment to the most decrepit, poorly kept hostel I've ever stayed in. We avoided using anything in the house as none of it felt clean, i.e. the kitchen, the bathroom, and shower especially. And although the beds were made, the sheets didn't feel clean either. To end our night, we took the recommendation of leaving the windows open for a nice breeze, but instead we were swarmed by mosquitoes throughout the night. We were so thankful we only booked for one night! Couldn't have gotten out any faster the next morning. I realize the state of the building and some other factors are out of Mayra's control, but these are things I wish I knew before we stayed. The price we paid was $250/night. For anyone looking to stay in New York, I would like to say that you can find much better. Our 3 days prior, in a very nice hotel, and 4 days after, in another apartment through AirBnB, were both were amazing and cheaper! For more about the apartment, I recommend reviews left by Kellea (same apt, other listing) and Jeff & Faith. Their reviews were very accurate regarding my experience. Lastly, this review is is no way speaking of Mayra. She was an extremely nice host, unfortunately, her apartment happened to be the complete opposite.

  Comments: I really liked this apartment in East Village. fyi the building is old and the stairs are narrow. What mattered most was that the apartment itself was clean and comfortable. Towels, soap, kitchen stuff was all provided. I met Lorena when we arrived. She's a really nice person and meeting her made me feel more comfortable staying at her place. East Village is awesome for young people especially. It's also a great place to be because of transportation. Walking anywhere around Manhattan doesn't take that long from East Village. I'd definitely recommend it and would stay here again.

It is located in one of my favorite spots in NYC (the east village) and potentially the most busiest and coolest street in the east village itself (St. Marks!). It was really great to be in the center of it all. Lorena was also a really great host - super responsive when I needed something and very forthcoming with great suggestions. She clearly has a passion for living in NYC! Despite being a very busy neighborhood, the room is surprisingly quiet which was great =). The room itself is a nice well-lit space that has a bed and couch. Note that the building is quite old so the entry stairwell and door has some graffitti and appears a little rundown - but I didn't really mind this at all and thought it added to the charm of the overall place. Fair warning: If you are very conscious of the outer facade of where you are staying - you may not share my optimism. All in all, considering the location, price, space, and ease - I would wholeheartedly recommend this amazing find!

  Comments: Well at first it seemed like everything was going to be great I paid for two beds in one room. Until last minute she sends me a text saying that her dear friend (3) was going to be in the apartment for just one night. So when I got into NYC she told me the room to ur right is the room I walk in its one bed she said gave the room I paid for to her friend and stuck me and my friend in the other room which I found to be very annoying. So after going out I bring friends of my over they don't stay the night. She send me an email saying she know it's not in her house rules but not to bring people over I said sorry. obviously Her friends said something. That night her friends bring someone over and they are loud and don't sleep until 3am drinking beers btw the room we have is off the kitchen and has a window into the kitchen. They were speaking Spanish. Not knowing that I spoke Spanish. They were being very rude and ended up staying two night they also woke up at 6am to leave honestly if I knew it was going to be like this I would of paid for a hotel instead. This was my first time using Airbnb and my first time in the city.

  Comments: Wir waren drei Maedels fuer 10 Naechte in dem Apratment. Es hat alles perfekt geklappt, die Beschreibung und Informationen waren super und stimmten genau. Das Haus ist alt und die Treppen steil, aber das hat uns ueberhaupt nicht gestoert. Das Apartment ist super, sowohl fuer Kurztrips als auch fuer laengere Aufenthalte. Die Lage ist grandios. Lorena wollte Anfangs zwei weitere Maedels im Wohnbereich unterbringen. Allerdings fanden wir das zu viel, da wir uns dann zu fuenft Kueche und Bad haetten teilen muessen. Sie hat dann aber schnell eine andere Loesung gefunden. Anfangs hatten wir wegen Bauarbeiten kaltes Wasser, sie hat uns netterweise Ihr Apratment zum Duschen angeboten, was sehr freundlich war. Lorena selbst haben wir nicht getroffen, aber wir hatten auch einen vollen Zeitplan :-). An unserem letzten Abend bekamen wir dann noch einen Mitbewohner, was aber fuer die eine Nacht ueberhaupt kein Problem war. Wir wuerden jederzeit wieder bei Lorena uebernachten. Einer meiner besten Urlaube, wahnsinns Stadt und super gelegenes Apartment. Vielen Dank!!!

The arrangement would have been fine but we received no notice about her friends until we had already checked in. The location of the building was excellent, in the heart of the East Village. It is a private room in an apartment with two bedrooms, and the other bedroom is also listed on AirBnB (rather than it being a room in the host's apartment). That makes it quite interesting, if you are traveling with a larger group you can try to get both rooms. Lorena was very easy to communicate with, the keys were easy to retrieve and things could not have been better.

  Comments: Nous avons passé 1 semaine à 3 dans cet appartement avec mes filles de 16 et 18 ans, il est trés bien adapté à du court séjour le ménage venait d'être fait lorsque nous sommes arrivé, il est bien éclairé et la vue sur la cour depuis le salon est vraiment super sympa, surtout le matin ou les écureuils viennent se nourrir sur la terrasse du voisin d'en face, génial, et en plus c'et hyper calme!!! l'appartement est trés fonctionnel, et le salon/chambre d'appoint n’étant pas utilisé pendant notre séjour, mayra nous a gentiment proposé de l'utiliser sans surcoût! la position géographique est TOP, à 5mn à peine du métro, ce qui permet d'atteindre n'importe quel endroit de NY en moins d'1/2h, le quartier est très animé mais sans problèmes, c'est vraiment un bon plan surtout si vous avez la chance de l'utiliser lorsqu'il est entièrement libre. nous n'avons pas rencontré Mayra pendant notre séjour mais elle a toujours su répondre à nos questions, ce qui a vraiment contribué à la réussite de notre Séjour:

She is very available and always willing to help you out with anything! I stay there with my husband, my 5 month old baby, my brother and his wife and their 1 year old baby. Mayra was very nice to accept us to stay there cause many refused. The apartment was as described: very quite (sometimes you can hear the neighbors but that's everywhere) and cosy! The kitchen was very handy too! Very small bathroom, but that wasn't a problem! I actually thought it was pretty cute. So it's on the forth floor, very steep stairs, BUT we did it with 2 babies AND 2 strollers!! so If we could do it so can you!! The area is absolutely great! A real New York experience! This is the whole package!! I would definitely recommend this apartment to my friends and family!! :-) Amis français, si vous voulez vivre une expérience typique New Yorkaise, je vous conseille vivement cet appartment au Coeur de Manhattan. The East Village est un super endroit pour découvrir New York, et la rue de cet appartement est géniale pour ça. Mayra est une personne très gentille et disponible, nous n'avons pas pu la rencontrer mais elle était toujours disponible par email!! L'appartement est petit mais nous étions 2 couples et 2 bébés et ça s'est très bien passé!   Comments: The apartment does look exactly like the pictures and can definitely accommodate 6-7 people. However, you have to climb 4 flights of steep stairs to get in the apartment. Also, when we arrived it was a super hot day and there was no form of a/c so we had to look around and found a window unit and had install it ourselves. There was also a giant cockroach that ran across the floor. She sent a really helpful intro email that made the place really easy to find however she did not respond the entire stay or reach out to make sure everything was okay. The location was perfect though!

  Comments: This Airbnb definitely lived up to its advertisement. It is a cute apartment in a great location. The apartment is near several useful trains to get around the city, and there are lots of great affordable eateries immediately nearby. A couple of things to note: It is a fourth floor walk up in the European style of numbering in that the ground floor is not the first floor. This was fine for me, but might be a deal breaker for some. The bathroom was small but not inconvenient. As a larger individual I would have preferred more room. Those are about the only things that I could call negatives. Lorena, the host, was excellent. She was very communicative and prompt with answers to questions. The place was clean, well stocked in regards to bedding, toiletries, towels, etc... and there was ample space for seven of us. When available, it is an excellent choice for an affordable stay in New York.

Lots of restaurant and bars and very close to multiple subway lines. The building is in poor shape. Very dirty. The apartment itself was clean. I recommend that you request a picture of the bathroom before booking. If I had seen the bathroom, I would have never booked. It is very small. The shower knobs, when turned, feel like they will fall off. The angle of the showerhead makes the water go to the bathroom floor. The sink is so small that we had to wash our faces in kitchen sink.   Comments: My wife and daughter stayed at the apartment and found the apartment interior itself to be very charming and the neighborhood to be colorful, as described. However, once you enter the building, the common areas are in very poor condition and appear very rough and dirty. The sleeping accommodations were fine, but as two women traveling together the fact that one of the AC units was placed in a window on a fire escape, held in place with duct tape easily removable by anyone who might have access to the fire escape from the outside, was disconcerting. It was a very quiet and private apartment space, but it came as a surprise to us on the second day when Lorena informed us that painting and tile work was scheduled for the apartment later that day. She assured us it was a minor repair but we objected and we were told that the work could wait. The stay worked out despite some hurdles.

It's a little far Time Square if you want to walk. But if you take the metro there's a metro nearby and it's super convenient. Also Lorena is super responsive via (Hidden by Airbnb) . I asked her multiple times on (Hidden by Airbnb) and get the response pretty quick. Also she provided us the map and instructions before we arrived and it's really helpful. The apartment was ok, considering we used it only for sleeping there and weren't spending time there at all. I would probably recommend this place to a family with kids and not for two couples like we were.   Comments: Wir sind Abends in Apartment angekommen und haben direkt einen unangenehmen Geruch bemerkt. Da Die Gastgeberin mit einem Zettel am Kühlschrank verbietet, die Fenster zu öffnen, sind wir diesen auch nicht wirklich los geworden. Die Zimmer sind durch türen schließbar, welche über dem Türrahmen ein großes Loch aufweist. Überall sind Kabel und Ablußrohre mitten durch die Zimmer verteilt. Das Apartment erscheint allgemein ziemlich dreckig und abgewöhnt (kaputte Möbelstücke) Das schlimmste ist allerdings das Bad! Eine kleine Nasszelle, mit einem Mini-Waschbecken (eher für ein Gäste-WC gedacht) und einer schimmeligen Dusche! Wir haben noch am selben Abend Kontakt mit der Gastgeberin und Airbnb aufgenommen. Die Gastgeberin hat auf unsere Nachricht nicht reagiert. Dank der schnellen Bearbeitung durch Airbnb dürften wir am nächsten Tag unseren Aufenthalt stornieren und umziehen!

  Comments: We loved this apartment right in the heart of the east village. It was like entering a little oasis of comfort and quiet from the bustling street below. And cafes and restaurants are all along the street so you're right in the middle of things. The apartment had 3 double beds and a sofa so our family of 4 had plenty of space. We basically just slept there and found the beds very comfortable. But if we'd wanted to cook, the kitchen was pretty sizable with a table & 4 chairs. It was easy to pick up and drop off the key and to communicate with the owner. All and all, a great experience!

Her apartment is on the 4th floor of a run down building with no elevator, so it was quite the exercise going up and down the stairs. Three issues I had were a clogging toilet, the wifi network not being able to be found, and the door buzzer not working. These things can be improved though and not a major issue. Lorena seems like a nice person though and responsive.

Lorena non l'ho mai vista, ci siamo sempre e solo sentiti su whatsap. Mi aspettavo più indicazioni sul chek in, abbiamo avuto un po di difficoltà con il chek in del keycafe ( degli armadietti dove puoi prendere e lasciare le chiavi ) . Ha dato per scontato che sapessimo come fare, basta un po di intuito e te la cavi, ma il servizio keycafe ha funzionato davvero male perché l'armadietto non si apriva. Abbiamo perso 1 ora a chiamare il servizio clienti. Stesso discorso con il deposito a fine vacanza. La casa non è un gran che: bagno piuttosto piccolo e scomodo. Le stanze accettabili. Molte scale da fare.

  Comments: The apartment is located at a perfect location. 3-min walking distance to green line, and 4-min walking distance to orange line. There are a lot of good restaurants and bars opening till midnight around the neighborhood so dining is very convenient. There are 2 rooms in the apartment; the spacious main room is at the back side of the apartment so is quiet at night; we didn't use the other one which is at the street side so couldn't tell if it's quiet enough at night but we definitely could hear the voice from street at day time. The floor, kitchen and the sofa are not very clean but the condition is acceptable. The bathroom is very tiny and the showering water quite easily floods out of the shower area so the bathroom mat was is wet. The apartment is on 4F without elevator, and the stairs space is quite narrow so it's a bit dizzy after climbing for 4 floors. The public area of the building is quite dirty. We didn't meet the host in person but she was easily to reach and communicate. In terms of cost/performance of the apartment, we think it's a little bit expensive considering the size and condition of the apartment but I guess that's what it takes to stay in a such a good area in New York.

  Comments: Cool location. Easy key pick up (try their pierogis). Easy communication, although little was needed. Pretty much as advertised. The loft bed where I slept was comfortable. Shower was tight and hard to keep from leaking water on floor with direction the shower head was pointed. Lots to do and eat about. Basic, affordable easy place to stay in the city.

I stayed with friends for the weekend and we all found the place perfect for our needs - close to restaurants, night life, spacious enough for 4 people and an AC unit in each room. St. Marks Pl. is a happening street to be on with many fun things to do in the neighborhood. Do note that the apartment is on the fourth floor, so getting luggage up there can be a bit tough.

  Comments: Simply put: this is how you want an airbnb to be. Easy check in, collection of keys, and a great location that's in the heart of the city. The space had plenty of room for 4 adults and we enjoyed hanging in the apt. when we needed a break from the city streets. Despite a LOUD street outside, the apt. was really quiet inside and we slept great.

  Comments: Pros - the apartment was very nice, had everything we needed and is in a fabulous location that was very convenient to the metro, shops, restaurants and a grocery market right across the street. Lorena seemed very nice. Cons - Lorena was traveling out of the country so her response time was slow sometimes a day because of different time zones. There was no designated local person for us to contact in case we had issues. All other times when we've stayed at airbnb if the owner was not in town, they've always had a local person there to meet us or a contact # of a local person for us to contact if we needed anything. Lorena had gotten new furniture after we had booked with her. The furniture was nice, but the new arrangement resulted in one less bed. When we booked we were specifically needing 3 bed apartments, which was this apartment originally. But we ended up with only 2 beds, That was a bit disappointing. Finally, when we arrived a man approached us wanting us to tell him exactly what apartment unit we were staying in. Being a complete stranger to us and on the street, we wouldn't tell him. The conversation got a little confrontational and he proceeded to tell us it was illegal to rent out airbnb and that he was the superintendent. Still with no id, we did not tell him where we were staying. I did contact Lorena who got back with me the next morning, due to time differences, and was able to verify the man was the superintendent but also verified it was perfectly legal for her to rent out through airbnb. It was just an odd encounter that started our stay feeling a little uneasy. I was glad Lorena was able to verify who he was.

There were some issues with keycafe but this is only because we tried accessing the keys before the set time. The area around the apartment is very lively with lots of things to do on the street. The neighborhood and location is supreme and well connected in Manhattan, and the neighbor is very vibrant and happening.   Comments: The apartment was not really what it seemed to be in the photos. The bathroom smelled of must and was not clean at all. When I woke up I had a dozen bites on my hands which resembles those of bed bug bites. The host was not communicative about the problems I was dealing with the place and I feel somewhat scammed for what I was looking for. Would not recommend this place.

The host did take steps to try to remedy the situation including offering a free night stay however due to some difficulties in timely communication we ended up staying at a different location.

  Comments: There were both good things and bad things about my experience with this place. At first Lorena seemed very responsive and helpful and sent a lot of helpful instructions which was really nice to have when you travel to a new city and her place had some cute small touches in the common area oh and there’s an alexa which helps for playing music! The things I didn’t expect and threw me off: We were getting there a bit sooner on our checkin day and I asked her the night before if I can drop my luggages 1-2 hours sooner and she said since no one booked the place that night I can check in as early in the morning so we took our heavy luggages there under the rain and the access code she gave me wasn’t working because she forgot to grant me early access and she didn’t answer any of my calls or texts until 6 hours after my check in!! Yes she didn’t have to do make me a favor but when your host tells you something you want to count on them! So we ended up wandering around under the rain for 2 hours in Manhattan with our heavy luggages! Anyways after I got the key I had to climb four floors to get to the apt (if you come to this place don’t bring anything more than a backpack) and the apartment looked much much smaller than the photos. But the worst part of my stay was sleeping in the bed. The pillow and the blankets were smelling musty! So we had to wear our jackets and use our towels to sleep through the night! Bottom line I won’t come back.
