  Comments: Mary is a fantastic host who makes you feel right at home. You will get your'e private room and own bath with a private entrance thru the garden if you choose. And a Super comfy large bed. Access to a chlorine free sweet water pool and endless charcoal BBQ's ; ) Also walking distance to several bars at the Turtle bay resort, numerous classes and spectacular beaches. Mary may even take you along to a FAB golfing experience and you may get to meet her and Bernie's beautiful horses. Will be happy to be a guest again!

Turtle Bay, which is within 5 minutes of the place, offers the most spectacular, amazing sunsets. Restaurants, bars, shrimp trucks, and gorgeous beaches are all within a 10 minute drive of this location. I would recommend this place for your stay in the north shore if you're looking for a 1 bed/1 bath type of place to rent.

  Comments: Malia was a great host - everything went very smoothly. We were delighted to be welcomed by fresh flowers and local fruit upon arrival. She respected our privacy but was quite friendly and easy to talk to each morning before we headed out to explore the island. She gave us some great recommendations of nearby hikes and beaches to explore. The room was a good size and fairly clean. Full disclosure, we did have an encounter with a gecko and one mosquito while in the room. Malia's husband smokes outside the condo, but luckily on the opposite side from the bedroom so it was not an issue for us (no cigarette smell inside the bedroom at all). She has two adorable small dogs but they do not have access to the unit. I have bad dust mite and cat allergies and mild dog allergies but had no problem here. The heated pool was awesome - we had it completely to ourselves when we took a dip there. Probably 50 yards from the unit. Parking was easy for our rental car. We arrived late in the evening and Malia was very accommodating. Would stay again

  Comments: Great location, for a great price, with great people! Malia and Bernie are excellent hosts and the kind of guys you really want to spend some time talking to. These guys have really lived! We went up to the ranch to feed the horses and see some real Hawaiin country with Bernie and the dogs, and Malia and Bernie showed us all the local surf breaks suitable for my level - I guess it helps that both Malia's sons are pro surfers but if your into surfing make sure you ask Bernie about "that wave" too!

We really appreciated them giving us tips on where to go, there is an amazing secluded beach right across the golf course that we really enjoyed. The location and their home was perfect.

They are a nice couple and always there to give you tips or suggestions on where to go, or to answer questions. If you're lucky, you might even get a chance to drive to the ranch to meet their beautiful horses!

  Comments: We stayed a few days with Malia & Bernie. They were fine hosts. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Bernie always had strong coffee brewed which he shared with us. Our room was small but comfortable and even has a small fridge in the closet. Also the guest bathroom and shower is right outside the bedroom door. Had a great stay for my nephew's wedding over at Turtle Bay which probably could walk to, but we drove, as to us it was a bit hot in Hawaii. Look forward to staying again in the future. Thanks!

  Comments: Location! Location! Location! . . . And, a deal that can't be beat! My daughter and I had a wonderful week on the North Shore, and with this lovely stay immediately adjacent to the Turtle Bay Resort, we felt very much in paradise. The room and surroundings are exactly as pictured, but what isn't mentioned is that their condo walls are covered by beautifully painted island art which were done by Malia over the years...really great! We easily walked to all the resort amenities, enjoyed soaking up the sun at the resort's public beach, and watched surfers on the other side with the bigger waves. My daughter and I were there over Mother's Day, and we were delighted to come back after the day's activities to 2 luscious, chocolate covered strawberries Malia shared with us, which were part of her Mother's Day gift! Their condo is in a gated community which made us feel very secure. Their backyard is the well-manicured golf course. We were there to visit friends in Laie, just a 10-15 min. drive away, and at times when they couldn't drive us, we easily took the bus (the stop is just outside the condos' gated entry). I've already spread the word of this great Turtle Bay abode to many friends, but hope it will be available for us again, too, in the future!

  Comments: I want to thank Bernie and Malia, and Minnie and Pearl, for opening up their home to me! I had a wonderful time staying with them for 3 days. I explored Turtle Bay area and the beach and had a lovely, restful time with them. The room is exactly like the pictures, they had a mini fridge with some treats in the closet, and plenty of space for me to put my stuff. The birds were always joyful and waking me up, Bernie had coffee going for me in the morning. And was a wonderful host. Thanks so much for sharing your bit of paradise! Maholo!

  Comments: Bernie was a gracious host, and the fresh coffee was appreciated every morning (as were the thoughtful snacks and fruit they offered). We really enjoyed the local beach (very quiet) as well as the pool with our 7 month old daughter. They even had a pull out cot for her to sleep on. Their location was perfect for our stay, and walking distance to friends at the Turtle Bay resort. And you can't beat the price :) Thanks again Bernie, and we hope to meet you next time Malia!

The room itself was great–the bed was really comfortable, there was a little sitting area, and Malia has supplied a small refrigerator and miscellaneous beach supplies. This is a very clean and neat house, Something I really appreciate. There is a very comfortable bathroom right next to the bedroom and the guest area is overall pretty private. The hosts! This is a very comfortable household and if wanted, the hosts are more than willing to chat and recommend activities and places to go. At the same time, they respect your privacy and it is very easy to go hang in your room by yourself if that's what you want. This is the best AirBnB I've ever stayed in!

  Comments: I really enjoyed my time at Malia's place. She is a very thoughtful and wonderful host!! The room is just as seen in the picture - clean, airy and lots of natural light. The bed is very comfortable too and the bathroom was also very clean. Malia also had some treats (fresh fruit and granola bars), drinks in the mini fridge in the room and snorkeling gear. I also thoroughly enjoyed the fresh coffee (brewed fresh every morning by Malia) and conversations with Malia. She is very knowledgeable about the area, things and activities to do around and in other parts of Oahu. On the day of our arrival, Malia and Bernie waited for us to arrive to show us around even though they had a dinner to attend. The day I was leaving, Malia gave me a beautiful print of one of her water color paintings. Both Malia and Bernie were very helpful and available for questions or anything that you may need. I was there to attend a wedding at Turtle Bay and asked for an iron and board to iron my dress and they promptly provided both. As noted by other vacationers, the room and the bathroom are in a private corner of the house and your privacy is well respected. I loved the North Shore and Malia’s place was definitely a part of the great experience. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit the North Shore!

  Comments: Malia's place is in great location, within walking distance from the Turtle Bay Resort and many beaches, and the room was really cosy. It has been "upgraded" since taking the photos, there is a big comfy bed and a flat screen TV. The room is also equipped with a fridge, and there were drinks and some snacks provided in the room ,which was really nice surprise. Malia and her husband were great hosts and always available for any questions. We even played a round of golf with Malia. Highly recommended :-)

The room and amenities were all as described, and we found them to be clean, functional, and comfortable. The location is PERFECT for exploring the North Shore. We had easy access, via our rental car, to great beaches/snorkel sites such as Shark's Cove, Waimea Bay, Kulima Cove, and Malaekahana SRA. Also, were we close to markets, fruit stands, and plenty of food trucks serving an impressive variety of cuisines. Highly recommended if you plan to spend most of your time hanging around the North Shore!

  Comments: We stayed at Malia's place for three days. The room was very cozy and nice. It is located directly at turtle bay, just a 5 minute walk away from the beach. Malia also offered us to use the swimming pool and the bbq next to her house. In the room there were some beach tools like a parasol which was really great to have at the beach. The bathroom was very clean. Our private room was next to Malias and Bernies living room, but they gave us as much privacy as we needed. Thank you for the stay!

Malia and Bernie were so welcoming and provided us with helpful suggestions about things to do such as where to hike, paddle board, snorkel, and eat. We went to a wedding and the party stayed at Turtle Bay Resort and it was an easy two minute walk to hang out with them! If you want an "authentic", affordable, safe place to stay on the north shore this is it!

  Comments: Malia and Bernie are gracious hosts, who are happy to share stories and tips on the North Shore. The room is cozy, very clean, and is located on the ground floor away from the living area, and near the front door for easy access. With this being said, be aware of two things. First, the AC unit is "for emergency use only, please" to keep costs and carbon footprints low. The October trade winds kept us cool, but the open windows needed for airflow left few sounds private. Second, they have a really sweet older dog. However, there is a doggy potty pad located right outside the bedroom door, which led to some surprises on our way in and out. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. Just come prepared for the trade winds and furry friends.

  Comments: My stay with Malia and Bernie was phenomenal. I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of town so at the last minute I looked into staying in North Shore. Many places had been booked as expected with 3 days notice, not to mention VERY expensive. I saw this place and immediately reserved. Within 30 minutes Malia accepted my request and sent me a welcome message. I didn't know what to expect as this was my 1st time using Airbnb. I took bus 55 from town and got dropped off right in front of the condos at Turtle Bay. Upon walking in the door I felt at home. I cant say enough good things and could go on for days so I will try to keep it brief: Located in the resort area of Turtle Bay overlooking the golf course and only steps away from a heated pool, private beach, golf course, Turtle Bay resort, restaurants, tennis courts and bus stop. The room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and well put together. King size bed (the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on), mini fridge with drinks, a basket of snacks, hangers in the closet, pamphlets on what to do, flat screen TV, 2 fans and an AC unit. With a window, sliding glass door and northern trade winds I never even turned on the AC. Both Malia and Bernie went out off their way to make sure I was comfortable. They were always available if I needed them, willing to chat if I wanted or not if I didn't. Bottom line if you want to stay in a comfortable place that feels like home away from home with kind and generous hosts for an affordable cost this is the place. I will absolutely be back next year and truly cannot thank them enough for making my trip a great one!

Room was airy and clean. Even if we stayed in the same house, their presence was never imposing and they let us be. Location is great since it is within the Turtle Bay and we had a wedding to attend there. The designated parking slot is a plus too.

  Comments: If you like your accommodations to be quiet and private this place is for you. The large room is very clean full of all the amenities you could ever want. It is also very tastefully decorated. You also have your own bathroom. Malia makes it very homey with welcoming snacks and a fridge full of cold drinks. The king size bed is very comfortable giving you a wonderful night sleep. Laundry facilities were made available to us also which was greatly appreciated. The ocean is a short walk away where you can watch the sun set or swim. Malia is always full of ideas of where you can go and what you can do on the north shore. That was very helpful. It really added to our whole Hawaiian experience.

  Comments: Most pleasant surprise of my Hawai'i trip. This is my first ever airbnb stay. I have booked it so long ago, as I drove to the Northshore, I did not remember everything about the place that I read when I booked it. I was amazed when I entered the neighborhood. I did not realize I was in the sought after Northshore right next to the Turtle Bay. The house looks like it is made for airbnb. The room is right next to the front door and the bathroom is right next it. Provides absolute privacy from the rest of the house. The room looks exactly like the picture. Cozy, comfortable and you are surrounded by breathtaking paintings. Everything is neatly in order. Room has a key in case you are worried about security of your possessions. And yet I have never felt more secure in my own home or neighborhood like I did this week at Malia and Bernie's home. There is a personal touch like the basket with healthy snacks, the mini refrigerator with the juices and all the lotions and shampoos you may want in the bathroom. I did not expect any of this at all when I was looking to spend 7 nights in someone's house for a bargain price. After having stayed in sterile impersonal hotels that provided no frills for the expense, this was a breath of fresh air. The bathroom is like the room too. Clean, looks good as new bathtub, a cheerful shower curtain and the most eye pleasing paintings on the wall. The access to kitchen and knowing there is a beach 5 minutes away from the house was a nice extra for me. But the surprise of all are the hosts. Malia and Bernie made me feel at home, were generous and more than kind. Malia directed my attention to all the things only a local would know to do on the island and I was grateful for her planning most of my week and making the stay so enjoyable. When I did not get to see any surfers, on the last day of my stay she even went with me to show me the right beach to watch surfers. I would not have known to go there. Everyday there is a good morning and at the end of the day she was happy to listen to anything you want to tell her about the day. Again, not knowing anything about airbnb really, I did not expect this personal attention and help with my sightseeing adventures! This is one week I will never forget. I was looking to stay somewhere less expensive and ended up feeling like I went to a favorite cousin's home and all the adventure was a bonus.

  Comments: I spent five nights in Malia and Bernhards accomadation at the Turtle Bay Resort, which is licated near Kahuku. I had a nice room with enough space for my clothes and bits and pieces. After my excursions around the beautiful North Shore, I swam in the pool, were they live and than, I wrote E-Mails in their living room. I always had a coffe or tea. I also played golf with Malia and we had fun. Even though I am a beginner in this sport. I can highly recommend this accommodation!

This extremely warm and inviting couple made our stay worry-free and included helpful tools for the beach (cooler, boogie boards, beach chairs *very useful*, and snorkelling gear). Bernie made a pot of coffee every morning and invited us to have a cup, we thank him very much for this helpful gesture. Being right on the golf course and having beaches near by was just the cherry on top of our wonderful stay.

Thank you so much for having me, I enjoyed every second of my trip - especially because of all the perfect suggestion on how to spend my time on Oahu! The room as well as the bathroom are very clean. The huge bed is so comfortable. I slept like a baby. A huge plus are the parking slot in front of the house and the heated pool. Not to mention the own fridge in the room, the healthy snacks and the beach towels. The location is perfect for exploring the North Shore! If I’m lucky enough to come back to Hawaii, I would stay with Malia and Bernie again! ************************************************************** Eins vorweg: Malia und Bernie sind wunderbare Gastgeber! Beide sind sehr hilfsbereit und nett. Malia gibt außerdem tolle Tipps, was man in der Umgebung unternehmen kann oder was man nicht verpassen sollte. Wer braucht da einen Reiseführer?! Sowohl der Raum selbst als auch das Badezimmer waren sehr sauber. Das Bett ist wahnsinnig bequem. Großes Plus ist sowohl der Parkplatz quasi direkt vor der Tür, als auch der beheizte Pool. Ganz zu schweigen vom eigenen kleinen Kühlschrank im Zimmer, den bereitgestellten Snacks und die Badetücher für den Strand. Die Location selbst ist perfekt, um die Nordküste zu entdecken. Sollten mich die Passatwinde in Zukunft wieder nach Hawaii wehen, würde ich wieder bei Malia und Bernie übernachten.

  Comments: Malia and Bernie were the most hospitable hosts and welcomed us into their home like old friends. Like numerous others, this was the first time we have used airbnb and were not disappointed. The room is EXACTLY as pictured, the bed is like a cloud to sleep in. After a 9 hour flight and 1 1/2 drive from Honolulu, we wanted a nice quiet place to catch our breath and this was certainly it. The room Malia & Bernie offer (along with bathroom for our own use just outside bedroom door) is very clean, comfortable, safe and importantly quiet. Both Malia & Bernie are very considerate of their visitors and are quiet people themselves. Malia having lived in Hawaii for many many years recommended places to see, eat etc and we had numerous chats over the four nights we spent with them. They both made us feel very welcome and as mentioned in other posts, Malia left snacks in our room and in the small fridge also in our room which we managed to enjoy over the days that we were there. I would highly recommend this accommodation to any travelling couple, single person and also very safe for a single female travelling alone. It's a great place to stay as a base if wanting to explore the North Shore and East Coast however you will need a car to get to the surf breaks such as Pipeline and Sunset. The good thing is that nowhere is far on the Island so you can see a most of the coastline in a very short time.   Comments: Mary and Bernie were lovely hosts: responsive on email, accommodating with the departure time, and recommendations for food. My boyfriend and I stayed there for a long weekend to explore North Shore and loved being able to drive to both Haleiwa and Laie very easily. The condo is in a residential section on the edge of the Turtle Bay Resort within walking proximity to hiking trails, beaches, and restaurants. The room is stocked with juices, snacks, and beers which was a nice touch as well.

  Comments: We were very nicely welcomed by Malia. A few things were a little bit of a surprise but all ended up good. We were very happy spending 6 nights in Malia's home. First I thought the room had an outside entrance from looking at the picture but found out it wasn't and we needed to enter the house. No problem. their door is always open and we came and went whenever we wanted. The second surprise was that our bathroom was not in our room but the door right next to us. Since we are the only guests sleeping there, and the hosts sleep upstairs, it was not a problem, though a little problem during the day when they are downstairs. They were very hospitable and knowledgeable so we enjoyed sharing their house. Parking very convenient. When we finished running around during the day it was great to be able to use the grounds of the Turtle Bay Resort. Special treat to be able to be at the pool bar and drink,eat,watch surfers and sunset at the same time. Coffee made early and some packaged biscuits in our room. Almost forgot to mention there is a dog and cat. As long as you are okay with a small bedroom in someone's home, where they are totally okay with you sharing their kitchen and living space, you would want to stay with Malia and Bernie.

They were very friendly and welcoming which made our stay very enjoyable. She always had time to interact and see if we had enjoyed our day! We also used the pool and tennis courts at the accommodations (excellent)! I would certainly recommend staying here to anyone...   Comments: We really lucked out finding this place on North Shore for such a great price. A condo located right in the midst of Turtle Bay resort, you really can't beat it. Malia and Bernie were also terrific hosts! Their home is beautiful and the room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. It is right by the front door which made it easy to come and go as we pleased without creating a whole lot of noise. The bathroom is also located right next to the room and was basically our own. They even offered us shampoo and soap as well as fresh bath towels and beach towels. We were also welcomed to prepare food in their kitchen and we were offered coffee in the morning. We had an amazing vacation in Hawaii and loved staying here. Highly recommend this spot!

Located in condos next to the Turtle Bay resort, we found the room to be super comfortable and convenient to everything. A short walk across the golf course brought us to the rocky beach where we saw a monk seal sunbathing! The drive to other north shore sites, and even to Honolulu was nice and easy (accept for traffic in Honolulu!). The bed was super comfortable, the host provided bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, and bath robes for us! So nice! We used the pool just a few doors down - lovely. Malia made coffee every morning and we had some time to visit and get to know her and Bernie. It was like visiting family; we felt very much at home. Thank you Malia & Bernie!

  Comments: Wonderful Airbnb experience! I would recommend in a blink of an eye. We stayed with Bernie and Malia in their lovely home at Turtle Bay for 5 nights and it was absolutely amazing. The room had a cool breeze (no need to use AC) and the bed was very comfortable. The area is very beautiful, come and quiet, lots of flowers and birds everywhere. Best of oahu beaches to visit close by, some by foot some by a car. (parking space was available right next to the house) We enjoyed some chat with Bernie, Malia was on a trip most of our time there, but we also got to meet her which was very nice. The pool was also nice but we only went there once (why go to the pool while the ocean is so close :) ) Fresh coffee every morning and some beach equipment for us to use was a very nice thing, Thank you!   Comments: Our stay at Malia and Bernie's place was exceptional! We stayed for a week and felt right at home. They provided some snacks and drinks for us (there is a mini-fridge in the room) and were extremely helpful with suggestions for things to do and places to see. There were nice personal touches throughout the house and we were told to make ourself at home. The location is great, close to nice restaurants at Turtle Bay Resort, many food trucks, and great beaches! The famous Pipeline is just a few minutes' drive away. Air conditioning is available for the room as needed (we used it a few times because of an unusually warm early September weather pattern) but we were usually fine with the screen door open and the provided fans. Bernie and Malia were great hosts!

We also appreciated the little touches like the juice and granola bars in the room and even a toothbrush and shower puff each. Malia also helped us prep for the trip advising on car rentals and even letting us ship a SIM card to the room so that we could use our phones as soon as we got there.   Comments: It was my first air BnB experience where I shared a house and it went great. I didn't get to meet Mary as she was away but her husband Bernie looked after us. He made us feel very welcome and told us to make ourselves feel at home which we did. He let us do our own thing and would usually be relaxing outside but was there to answer any questions we had. The room in itself is super nice and the bed soooo comfortable! All we needed. There was towels, loofers, toothbrushes, hair dryer etc. Every amenities you need. Bernie also told us we were free to use the coffee machine whenever we wanted and sit at the dinning table to eat. During the trip we also needed to do a load of wash and no laundromat around so Bernie let us use his washer/dryer for a very small fee but so convenient for us. We didn't use any of the facilities as we were sightseeing but there's a super quiet pool right there and the beach is literally just across the golf course. The Turtle bay resort is also around the corner and you can dine there or have a drink at the bar. It's about a 20 min drive to Haleiwa the main town but close to the Polynesian cultural center. But if you choose to stay there you don't really need to go anywhere else as everything is on hand :) Thanks Bernie & Mary.

  Comments: My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at Malia and Bernie's home. The room was clean and we had an enormous king-sized bed - what a treat! There is a fridge (in the room) full of juices, beer and breakfast snacks which Malia had generously prepared for us. The unit is located in the Turtle Bay resort - the only biggest tourist development on the North shore. There's secure entrance to the unit and a parking lot for the guests. We could also use the resort's swimming pool. The Turtle bay is the perfect starting spot for exploring the dreamy beaches of North shore and the Windward Coast - Sunset and Pipeline were our favourite! Ideal for sunsets and sunrises!

  Comments: We had a fantastic stay at Malia's place. Our bed was extremely comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud, and she upgraded to a King size bed recently, and a new flatscreen, which we didn't use (come on, we're in Hawaii!) We loved to leave the sliding door open all day and night to let the lovely breezes cool our room and to let in the natural sounds. We used the kitchen to make breakfast and lunches, which we took with us for day, and everything was very clean and well cared for. The bathroom is private, right outside the bedroom, and is also clean and well cared for. We enjoyed learning about the area from Malia and Berney and all of their restaurant suggestions were perfect (North Shore Shrimp Truck: garlic shrimp, North Shore taco truck: fish tacos (made with Ahi), and Kahuku Grill (best burgers!) We were at Malia's during the Pro Bowl, and the players and their families were staying at the Turtle Bay resort, so the resort was on "lockdown" so I cannot comment on the amenities available at the resort, but the beach there was great for snorkeling. I saw some of the biggest tropical fish I've ever seen. We didn't see turtles there, but saw them at nearby Kawela Bay (an easy walk from the resort). We look forward to returning to the North Shore and Malia's place soon.

It was a great place to stay, right on the golf course and close to Turtle Bay Resort. The neighbourhood is very quiet and relaxing. Being a golf course resort the mowers are out early not that we minded as we just slept in once they passed. Bed was all that was reported, very comfortable.

We love staying at Turtle Bay it's our second visit, the first time was staying in Malia's sons own condo last year. The facilities in Turtle Bay are great so eating out and having a drink without having to drive is a bonus. For surfing fans like ourselves the North Shore certainly delivers in the winter months with waves often reaching 30 feet or more. We are already missing the place and cant wait to visit again soon.

Hosts Malia and Bernie were friendly and helpful...quick to offer conversation and advice on where to go. We enjoyed having access to beach chairs, snorkeling gear and tennis rackets. The on site non-chlorine pool and tennis courts are nice, too! Overall a great experience and we would recommend this listing to a single person or a couple looking for a nice place to set up a home base for an O'ahu visit. Easy walking distance from Turtle Bay Resort and a short drive to tasty food trucks and fresh fruit stands. We were able to buy a few groceries and use the toaster oven and microwave in the host's kitchen for breakfasts and the occasional lunch or dinner so we didn't have to eat out all the time. It's slightly awkward that the bathroom is separate from the room (but very convenient right outside the door). As other reviews have noted: the king size bed is wonderful!

  Comments: While Malia wasn't there during our stay, she made us feel incredibly welcome and was very communicative so as to make sure our trip was smooth and memorable. Her place was great and just what we needed to both explore the North Shore and also attend a friend's wedding at the Turtle Bay Resort (short 10 minute walk). Her cat, K K, is the coolest cat too. I've never seen a cat so friendly that likes his belly rubbed and ears scratched, reminding us of our dog! We would definitely plan on staying here again and hope to be back soon!

  Comments: Aloha, that's what they say in Hawaii and Malia gave us the feeling of Aloha from start to finish! We spent 2 weeks with Malia and Bernie. We had a very comfortable stay and felt welcome in every way. I'm a surfer and wanted to see the Pipeline Masters and we needed to be on the North Shore of Oahu and this is the place to be. I wouldn't recommend it to someone that wants to be in Honolulu or Waikiki on a regular basis. It's a good place to be if you want peace and quite, a golf course, and miles and miles of beaches of white sand, perfect green waves and of course warm sunny days. You'll have a nice king bed, a private room on the main floor (no stairs), a small refrigerator in the closet, a flat screen TV, and plenty of space to put your belongings. Extra items that you bring, surfboards, golf clubs, or anything bulky will have to be kept in your car as they have no space for it. This is a very well kept residence and Malia was the perfect hostess and we felt very welcome in our coming and going. She knows all the places to eat and knows the island like the back of her hand. We had the food trucks, Lei Lei's bar and grill (very upscale and within walking distance), and of course the Turtle Bay resort hotel very close by. I don't play golf but I hear the course is great and within walking distance. There is a surf break at the hotel and I was able to surf it a couple of times but the best places are Sunset Beach, Pipeline, among others within 5 or 10 minutes away. There is a pool within walking distance that has a bbq and it is protected from the wind with a fence that goes all the way around. An outside shower is there as well. This is a gated community so you'll be pretty safe here. You'll have a parking area just for you too! A tennis court is there too, but who has time to play tennis when you have all of Hawaii to explore? It was a relaxing vacation and many mahalo's to Malia!

Their home, within walking distance to the Turtle Bay resort, is super cozy, the coffee is fresh and plentiful every morning, Malia's vibrant and spectacular paintings are on every wall, and their cats are soft and friendly. We loved the king-sized bed, our own private refrigerator that was stocked with cold tea drinks, and the nice basket of biscuits and granola bars. Their home is in such a dreamy part of Oahu-- so close some really magical places like Kawela Bay and the giant banyan tree in the forest nearby. We only rented a car for part of our trip, and the rest of the time we stayed close to the resort or took The Bus, which stops right out in front of Kuilima Estates. There are a few spots on the resort grounds where you can get food, though they're pricey. We most enjoyed getting poke and crab-stuffed salmon at the restaurant right on the golf course, Lei Lei's. The portions are generous there and the service is warm. Just know that if you don't rent a car you will need to allot more time to getting around outside of the Turtle Bay area. But we had fun bussing down to the food trucks across from Shark's Cove, where Malia's grandson has a place called The Spot. We had tasty breakfast tacos there one morning while we watched the January surf. We also took the bus to nearby Haleiwa and had a great time at Teddy's Burger and Tiki Bar for Happy Hour. Also, there is an Enterprise rental location right at the Turtle Bay Hotel so you could do like we did and easily get a car for when you want to venture out! We are so happy we stayed at Malia and Bernie's. What a paradise. They were always there to answer any questions we had or offer ideas for where we might visit, and yet they were so respectful of our privacy. When we were leaving, Malia gave us a gift of two cards with prints of her paintings, and one of them was of a rainbow over an Oahu valley. I had gone for a run a couple days before and I'd taken the trails to Kahuku point, the very tip of the top of the island. I hadn't brought my phone with me and when I was met with the most picturesque rainbow I was just kicking myself. Malia's card meant so much to me. What a lovely reminder of our time there.

This is the neighborhood to stay and the side of the North Shore to experience less traffic getting to and from the beaches and golf courses surrounding the neighborhood if you plan to play.   Comments: Malia's place is awesome, especially if you don't plan on spending much time in your room (since it's just a private room, there isn't a ton of space if your plan was to hang out all day, but honestly you should be at the beach or exploring the beautiful surroundings). It's a comfortable bed and there is an AC unit in case it gets too hot. Malia also has snorkel equipment and other items for you to borrow. Overall, it was pretty wonderful and a 10 min walk to the Turtle Bay hotel and amenities.

  Comments: This is a great location if you are interested in Turtle bay and north shore activities. The pool is exceptional, don't miss it!!! Don't count on breakfast although coffee is available if you ask. The bed is comfy and the room is nice. If you want a quiet space you may be disappointed as the room is very close to a sidewalk and yard maintenance was in the early am both mornings I was there. Also, there are 2 cats which I love but if you have allergies, this may be a concern. Nice place overall.

There was a refrigerator in the room and the bathroom was right next to the room. The room was right inside the front door and had its own lock which was also nice. There are cats and some smoke smell so if you have allergies that might be hard, but it was not a problem for me. I hope to see them again on my next trip!

The pool is close, clean and warm. The golf course surrounds you and is beautiful. You can walk across the golf course to the ocean and down to the Turtle Bay resort very easily...or drive. You are very close to so much of North shore and east. Wow! I own a KoOlina Marriott timeshare and we were very impressed with Malia's Airbnb. We plan to go back!

  Comments: We had a great stay on the North Shore! The room is as advertised a cozy room right inside the front door of Malia and Bernie's condo. The room has a lock, AC (although we didn't need it in May), TV and small fridge. The bathroom is located just next to the room as well as the washer/dryer. Malia and Bernie make a mean pot of coffee every morning. The condo is located within Turtle Bay which is really nice because there are walkable restaurants, beautiful secluded beaches, walking trails and the condo itself is right on the golf course. I would definitely recommend staying here, mahalo Malia and Bernie!

  Comments: This is my second airbnb experience and I deeply appreciate Malia and Bernie for allowing us comfortable and peaceful stay. I was traveling with my mom and we actually were a little nervous due to some problems with the first airbnb host. But we came to be relieved day by day thanks to their consideration, and genuine kindness. We enjoyed the breeze through the open door, the sound that leaves make and soft lighting lamp beside our bed. We went to the swimming pool a lot and could relax. Walking along the trail was a good start for a day. The two adorable cats are sociable enough to hang out with me for sone time. Watching sunset at resort pool was another gift. The best part of the stay was that I could purchase beautiful postcards drawn by Malia. I will never forget their warm-hearted smile with these cards. All in all, staying at Malia's home was like a compensation from God. I hope I could visit there again.

  Comments: Malia and Bernie accepted our reservation on very short notice, and welcomed us when we arrived albeit unannounced and at an inconvenient time. They are a very kind and hospitable couple. The bedroom we stayed at was very comfortable - a king sized bed with all the needed amenities. While there was air conditioning provided, we did not need to use it as the evening breeze going into the room was cool and relaxing. And in the morning, the lovely sound of birds chirping welcomed us to the day ahead. The beach at Turtle Bay, a couple of hiking trails, a good restaurant and a nice bar were within short walking distance of Malia's place. Famous food trucks are a short drive away, and the Polynesian Cultural Center, North Shore beaches and other attractions are easy drives from her place. Had the chance to talk to Malia about her paintings (my wife and I loved them!) at the tail end of our stay and heard stories about her family and their 40 year life in Hawaii - I just wished we had more time to stay. Malia's farewell present is immediately displayed in our apartment after arrival, a reminder of our stay in Malia and Bernie's place that made for a lovely vacation in Oahu.

  Comments: Location, accessibility, cleanliness, and hospitality were wonderful. We woke up to a great breeze and a quiet calm that we always associate with the laid-back vibe of the North Shore. We live on island and made reservations for a Christmas Day Brunch at Turtle Bay. after we made the reservations we decided to make a weekend of it and stay on the North Shore. After checking kamaaina rates the price was still over $300 a night so we looked at Airbnb for something on the North Shore. We found this lovely room for under $100 a night and it was literally on the Turtle Bay golf course. We didn't need anything major just a place to shower and sleep. However, the room was spacious, internet/cable were available and we had a fridge. The bathroom was immaculate and right next to the room. Malia and her husband took the time to great us and ensured we were acquainted with the area. We spent the days on the beach and eating in some great Restaurants in Haliewa. All in all it was a really nice Christmas weekend. We appreciate the hospitality.

Swimming in the wintertime is possible at the Turtle Bay beach, which is about 5 minutes to walk to. The cats, Cakey and Hobo, are pretty entertaining. My husband loved that there was coffee waiting for him every morning.

Their home is located within walking distance from the main beaches and restaurants at Turtle Bay, along with some great little beach trails and sightseeing. It's also a great central location if you are looking to explore the North Shore by car, as there are a lot of wonderful little towns and beaches to explore. We were not bored once during our 10 day stay and Malia's private room was the perfect spot to come home to and unwind. Would definitely recommend!

  Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at Mary's place! Guests have their own room and bathroom and it comes with a personal fridge as well. Mary provides some amenities, e.g. cool drinks and some cereal bars. Bigger shops are 15 mins by car in either direction on the coastal road. Parking available in front of the house. Some beach equipment is also provided. I would say the place is a good base for exploring Northshore Oahu incl. Snorkelling, seeing Turtles, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Valley, Pipeline wave (only in winter months).

Malia supplied a few snacks and cold drinks but also made delicious coffee for us. She does not supply breakfast but there are supermarkets and restaurants a short drive away. There are bathrobes and slippers as well as snorkel gear, beach towels and chairs. Their home is within a gated community and very safe. They supply a car park as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend their home

  Comments: Malia is a wonderful hostess: casual and welcoming. The king size bed was so very comfortable! She provided beach towels, robes, and coffee in the mornings. Malia and Bernie are available for conversation including suggestions about local trails and beaches and activities. The swimming pool is close to their apartment and lovely. There are many beaches within walking distance, all with unique features, and many others within 15 or 20 min drive. The amenities provided by the Turtle Bay resort include golf, horseback riding and bike rental. We chose to do the Night time Glow Paddle at Haleiwa Bay offered through AirBnb. That was delightful. For two people needing a home base on the North Shore, Malia's place is the perfect home.

  Comments: This was my very first airbnb rental. Everything and more if you need if you need to just sleep, shower and relax. The bedroom and bathroom is right near the entrance of the condo. TV, Fan and A/C but I didn't need to use the A/C. You have access to the swimming pool and you are walking distance to Turtle Bay Resort. Any questions you have, Malia will be happy to answer.   Comments: The location of this house is good that you can walk to the beach, the bedroom is clean although a bit small. If you really want the bathroom to be used exclusively to you then you might like to look for somewhere else because in our 5 nights stay in here, due to different personal habits I noted that our toilet was used at lease 4 days when we were out of the house. And I did raise this issue with the host’s husband on the 3rd day, he admitted that his wife might have used it when we were not there. Although the kitchen rule stated that guests can cook their own meals; however, the living area of the host is very closed to the kitchen and the eating area (right next to each other), you can feel very uncomfortable because the host can make you feel that her personal space is being invaded by you (that was what happened on our 4th day morning that the female host made few abrupt remarks when we were using her kitchen to make toast and having coffee as our breakfast). We didn’t want to be an intruder so since then we did try our best to avoid using the kitchen while the female host is there. May be the host should include a more detailed kitchen rules so the guests can make an informed decision before making booking in her house. If you don’t like the cats to be in your bathroom or your bedroom or on your bed (one of the two cats jumped on our bed) you need to keep your doors closed. This house is right next to the golf course, we were woke up shortly after 5am every couple days by the loud motor of the mobile crane (which is parked not far from the house) that they used for pruning trees and park nearby. So you might like to use your earplugs, which we didn’t bring with us.

  Comments: My husband and I had a great stay at Malia & Bernie’s place, it was perfect for what we needed on our first trip to the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. We really appreciated the friendly hospitality of Malia and Bernie and the local tips they provided. It was great value for money and a central location on the north shore. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable with a big tv, fridge, towels, snorkel gear, snacks and other things provided in the room which made us feel very at home. The shared kitchen and private bathroom facilities were as decribed and clean. The beach and turtle bay resort were within walking distance and only short distances in the car to food trucks, shops, Polynesian cultural centre, hikes, Ziplining, horse riding, snorkeling etc. Malia and Bernie were very welcoming and also very respectful of privacy. Overall I would highly recommend this for accomodation on the north shore!

  Comments: What a wonderful place to stay. Malia and her husband are very nice and helpful people and gave us a lot of good advices. We appreciated the private bathroom and the possibility to use the kitchen...and the fresh coffee every morning. Besides there are a lot of additional equipment like bathrobe, slippers, beach chairs, tennis rackets, flippers, etc. We had a lot of luggage but still had enough space in the room. The bed is very comfortable and we had a very good night´s sleep. You can darken the room and it is a very silent area, you just hear the sound of the ocean. It is a very nice and safe community, the beach is nearby and you can also use the pool or tennis courts. There are also some nice trails around Turtle Bay. We definitely recommend this accomodation.

  Comments: There is not many restaurant and sightseeing. If you want to trip north, you will get a hotel Haleiwa area. And cat's fur is so many in the room and kitchen If you don't like pets, I don't recommend this room. Last thing No privacy space in this house. Everytime you doing something, host will see you and interest in your all. Northern travelling is Haleiwa better than end of the north or kahuku.

  Comments: If you’re looking for the resort experience without the bill- this is a terrific spot. You’re right off the golf course, and a short walk to the Turtle Bay resort and amenities. Be careful with those Mai Tais! Mary has everything you need to go enjoy an adventure on the island. I recommend going to Snorkle either at the nearby resort or Shark’s Cove. Mary and Bernie are very hospitable, and you’ve got a nice space of your own. They’re happy to make recommendations and there’s plenty of coffee in the morning. Had a lovely time, 10/10 would stay there again!
