Comments: Jon and Jan are great hosts, they are very warm and personable and gave us tips on all the best local sites and restaurants. We really loved our stay in the loft, it was very clean, quiet and relaxing. The open design was so comfortable with great light and air flow and the kitchen was well stocked with all our cooking needs. We really enjoyed the complimentary coffee outside on the patio surrounded by bamboos and fruit trees. It was so great to have nature all around us, but still so close to charming town of Hawi with all the shops and great dining places. We will recommend the "Beautiful Cedar House Loft" to friends and family and would love to stay there again.

The hosts were friendly and made us feel like home. We would recommend this place for anyone looking for a comfortable and rewarding experience. Thank you for a memorable stay in North Kohala. We will definitely come back at the Cedar House Loft. Beautiful place

Comments: Jan and Jon are very gracious and welcoming. The space is very comfortable, nice bed in the loft. Neighborhood is fine, it's right on the main hiway to town. Some traffic noise. Some refrigerator noise also in this small space. A great place to stay, close to town and all the amenities. We enjoyed it so much. Would definitely stay here again.

Comments: Jon and Jan were wonderful. They were easy to get a hold of, responded promptly to email and calls and were very charming in person. The loft was in their backyard but felt very private. It was bright and clean and had great amenities (washer/dryer, smart tv,). We would stay here again!

Comments: We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Jon but Jan made us feel incredibly welcome. The loft was very inviting and a wonderful home base to explore the northern end of the Big Island. Comfy bed and a nice kitchen. Having Netflix on the TV to watch at night was a nice touch. My wife and I fell for the town of Hawi, good food, friendly people, and a beautiful landscape.

Comments: Jan and Jon are kind and intelligent people. Their consideration for their guests is reflected in the amenities they provide - the towels and linen are first rate; the washer and dryer are modern, high-end and efficient; the dishes, flatware, kitchen utensils, cookware, and appliances are complete, making meal preparation easy; a blow dryer, beach gear, iron/ironing board and more are provided - they've thought of everything! The Beautiful Cedar House Loft is meticulously clean and furnished with a lovely amoire, couch, entertainment center (smart tv with accesss to Netflix), very comfortable beds and a breakfast bar. The layout is well designed to provide maximum light, ventilation, storage, openness and privacy. The location - rural, yet only a 10 minute walk to the center of Hawi - is ideal for visits to the northeastern, northern and western areas and coast of the Big Island. Groceries, great restaurants, galleries/shops, hiking, beaches, spectacular views and historic sites are close at hand. The stars in the night sky viewed from the backyard on a clear night are incredible! Both Jan and Jon have detailed knowledge of the area's best attractions, how to get there and when to go. They are diligent, quiet people who are nearby when needed and excellent to communicate with! Pleasant and genuine, we found them to be ideal hosts. Their description of the accommodations and conditions is accurate. We found our visit to be a remarkable experience and value - we look forward to returning.

Comments: We were greeted warmly by Jon and made sure we had everything we needed. After giving us a freshly picked coconut he gave us maps and lots of information about nearby things to do and must see places. It's location was central for seeing the north coast. We found Spencer and Hapuna beaches perfect for family outings. Nearby Bamboo restaurant was a favorite. We loved the quiet surroundings of Havi and would definitely go back again. The home was exactly as described and pictured. It had a fully stocked kitchen, including freshly ground coffee. A perfect size for 3 to 4 people. There were beach chairs and boogie board available. The country road leading to the property is perfect for car travel, not so much for walking as there aren't sidewalks. The setting is gorgeous and private, with owners in close proximity. It's best to let the owners know beforehand if you have small children so they can prepare accordingly. Afer we left the Beautiful Cedar House, we stayed in a cottage in Volcano, a hotel in Hilo and a resort in Kona. My 4 year old grandson wanted to know why we couldn't go back to the first big house. It was his vacation favorite!

Comments: Our hosts Jon and Jan were wonderful! Being newly-weds they made us feel like part of their family. They brought us gifts of coconuts and lemons and even had a box of mocha ice cream in the freezer for us. They gave us directions to secret spots of their section of the island and told us where to go for a romantic moonrise picnic. Then they left us alone for the rest of our stay and gave us a great send off when we turned in the key. They have been the best hosts at any rental we have ever had. Wonderful people! The Loft was clean and tidy and very comfortable. Its well insulated, has a great little kitchenette and bathroom. Wonderful location and the loft bed was a great experience. Very comfortable. We loved it and highly recommend! North Kohala is such a wonderful place. You wont be disappointed with this place!

Comments: The cedar house loft was a great getaway. It is attached to the main house (separate entrance, not connected inside) with another rental guest house further back. Jan and Jon were great hosts, providing timely contact ahead of arrival, and guides to the north side of the island. Not unusual, the house is shoes-off inside. The loft itself has a ceiling clearance of about 5.5 feet, which Jon cautions guests about. It is quiet, though sound can carry inside and out if the windows are open. Hawi is a fun, funky getaway from the tourist-heavy Kona area but you will have a 1-2 hour drive to places like Waimea or down to Kona. Pololu Beach, recommended in Jon's welcome information, is a short drive away and well worth the 20 minute hike down and back up. Aloha

Comments: Me and my brother stayed at Jan and Jon's place and as soon as we got there, it was like we were part of the family!!! Jon was very informative about our place and the area that we came to hike. I asked many, many questions about almost everything in the area and he gave us all the time we needed. Oh and our place was spotless and everything and more than we expected. Highly recondmend this stop if your traveling anywhere close! Thanks Jan and Jon.

Comments: My husband and I really enjoyed this space as our introduction to the Big Island. Hawi is a great town and North Kohala has tons of nature attractions. The apartment is as nice as the pictures, and it was very clean. We had everything we needed there. The bed is super comfy, but watch your head as the loft ceiling is low. We interacted with Jon and he was very pleasant and accommodating. The only thing that is not great is the shower. The water pressure is low and the stream pretty weak. Overall, totally great and worth the money. We wished we had stayed longer.

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Cedar House Loft in Hawi. Jan and Jon welcomed us very warmly. The apartment was perfect for us, our girls loved it too. Everything very clean and well equipped. Hawi is a small, very charming village. And lots of things to visit, and beautiful beaches in 20 min drive. Thank you very much - hopefully we can come back one day.

Comments: Jon told us that the Cedar House Loft used to be a yoga studio before it was converted to a guest house. No wonder we felt such good energy here. We loved the hardwood floors, the high ceilings, the open floorplan and the cozy sleeping loft. It was easy to prepare meals in the kitchen which was well-appointed and organized. The loft is on a quiet, country road surrounded by pastureland. We were delighted to hear birdsongs and mooing cows each morning. Jon was pleasant and responded quickly to calls, texts, and emails but otherwise respected our privacy. A long time resident, he knows the area well and gave us excellent suggestions about local sites, restaurants, and outdoor activities. Many thanks to Jan and Jon for providing this unique and relaxing space.

Comments: The Cedar House Loft was as cute and cozy as it looks! We had a wonderful stay - it was quiet and close to so many activities and beautiful Hawaiian scenery. Jan and Jon were gracious hosts, who we were so happy to meet and talk to. They left us fresh lemons, mint and greens to enjoy which was above and beyond. The Loft was clean and had everything we needed to feel at home. The kitchen was well equipped for a couple who enjoys cooking local foods when on vacation! Having comfy beach chairs, cooler etc. was an extra bonus. We will be back, thanks so much! Jenn and Willy

Comments: Our stay at your lovely loft had only one fault: it was to short. You thought of every detail, from the fine Temprapedic bed (best sleep in a month of travel), to the William Sonoma dishes. Attention to detail that was not overlooked. Jean Pierre, your helpful tips for seeing the sights off the beaten path, were spot-on: easy one-mile walk in the evening to town, the whales at sunset (sublime), the public (yet oh-so private) beach at Mauna Loa (vintage Hawaii), the Poholu Valley Beach (otherworldly) and all in all, our stay in your loft at Hawi was a writers paradise that may be muse for my next book! Bruce and I felt we met a kindred spirit in you, Jean Pierre, and only hope our "paths" will cross yet again. Mahalo! Tarini and Bruce

Comments: This is the perfect place to stay in Hawi. Private, clean, with every amenity we would need, very central location, quiet. We didnt even have to research the best things to see or hike. Jon and Jan have already done that for us and explored all the surroundings. Their knowledge of the area is very descriptive. We really enjoyed the waterfall. Thank you.

Comments: Wonderful little place within walking distance of my favorite Big Island town, Hawi. Everything was super clean and top of the line (LG washer and dryer, Tempurpedic mattress). Comments: Mahalo to Jan and Jon for a wonderful stay. It was a pleasant surprise to have found some fruit and veggies for us upon our arrival. The accommodations were clean and new. Loved that there is a washer/dryer, large refrigerator, blender, coffee maker, TV (although we didn't turn it on since we were busy). I slept on top of the stairway in a Japanese style mattress and my friend slept in the bed below and it gave us somewhat privacy. The location is close to town and loved all the tips they gave us regarding places to visit. If you want to visit Polulu Valley, then stay here. It's a great place to stay and they also have a larger building with a few rooms if you need more room. Their hospitality is impeccable and would love to visit again sometime. Mahalo and a HUGE aloha blessings.

Comments: Jan and Jon were extremely welcoming - they both stopped by to say hello and provided us with many recommendations for exploring the area, along with their favorite places to eat. There was fresh fruit waiting for us in the loft, and twice they came by with fresh veggies from their organic garden. The loft was comfortable and very clean. We enjoyed every minute of our stay there, and will utilize their property upon return to the Big Island!

Comments: Outstanding and upscale, the experience was exquisite in every way. Located perfectly from town, it offered solitude yet convenience. Jon was incredibly helpful in explaining the insider secrets to the area. Snorkeling, hiking, gift and grocery shopping as well as the best restaurants were all explained cheerfully with true Aloha spirit. The accommodation was extremely clean and well appointed. Everything was top notch and tastefully decorated. Especially nice was the best bed/mattress that we have ever slept on. The kids loved the loft and I do believe it was the best bed/secret hideaway they ever had as well. Mahalo nui for the Hawaiian hospitality! Sabine and Greg and kids.

The loft is clean and spacious and has everything you need including laundry. The peaceful and charming town of Hawi is just a short walk down the road. I'd highly recommend staying here and hope to return sooner than later!

Comments: We recently stayed in the loft house while visiting our son in Hawi Town. Jan and Jon welcomed us with fresh fruit from the area as well as suggestions for good restaurants and highlights to see while there. The house was clean and well furnished. Having internet access was helpful as we made travel plans. They even provided beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and a boogie board to borrow for the beach days. It was the perfect size and location for two of us.

Comments: We had a great stay at the Cedar house loft in Hawi. Plenty of room in a beautiful space for my wife, me and adult son. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Jon met us when we arrived and spent considerable time giving us lots of information as to the very best sights and places to eat; he even had photocopied handouts! We took much of his advice and agreed with his assessment. Although we didn't get to meet Jan, we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious banana bread with macadamia nuts she made for us. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Comments: The host made us feel welcome and gave us great snorkeling tips and an overview yet was respectful of our privacy. The location is good--one can walk to the local Hawi town and it is under 30 minutes to outstanding beaches (Mauna Kea!) and even less time to pop in the water for a snorkel or look to Maui view for a sunset. Also Hawi is at around 500 feet elevation which makes for cooler evenings--less humidity--which is great for sleeping. The loft area bed is best for kids (one of our teens liked his 'man cave') but both of our tall teens would not have fit so well--there is a sofa bed in addition to the queen bed. All beds are in the same room as the loft/kitchen you see in the picture so no separate bedroom. Nice extras such as beach towels, chairs, umbrella and boogie board! Loved the fruit basket and blender! There is a fenced-in garden patio with table and chairs (but no view) and given it was rainy in the evening plus mosquitos we ended up never sitting outside. As a bonus for relaxed evenings with teenagers--wi-fi and several movies to choose from on netflix and a pizza place not too far away--in fact lots of local, casual, great food places--try Minnie's and CSC in the next town.

Comments: Jan and Jon's loft is not only beautifully done, it is absolutely immaculate! We have stayed in many gorgeous Airbnb properties round the world, and theirs is by far the cleanest and tidiest (and I am very particular). Jan and Jon were at the property (they live next door) when we arrived and gave us a warm greeting and tour of their property. In addition they left a delicious, ripe, and chilled pineapple for us to enjoy (which we did throughly after we went for a refreshing ocean swim at a locals swimming spot recommended by Jan and Jon). This easy to access property has a well stocked kitchen where you can prepare meals, the most comfortable bed EVER, a sleeping loft (our son loved sleeping up there on a comfortable futon mattress), nice linens, free Netflix, Wifi, Pandora, a brand new washer and dryer, beach towels, an outdoor dining area, beach gear, and incredibly nice hosts! :) When visiting Hawi in the future, we would not pass up an opportunity to stay at Jan and Jon's beautifully appointed property. Mahalo!

Comments: My husband and I were in Hawi for family reasons, and I'm so happy I found Jon and Jan's Cedar Loft. It's comfortable, well designed, clean, and well stocked. The best thing, though, is that the space has wonderful energy. It's peaceful and embracing. Jon and Jan are filled with aloha spirit, and you will feel it with every interaction with them. We hope to return next year and rent the larger unit on the property. Thank you, Jon and Jan!

Comments: Cedar House was perfect for four adults. My daughter and her husband slept in the loft and my daughter commented that she had the best view and could see the ocean from her window. My husband slept on the comfortable double bed, and I used the sleeper sofa. Comfortable, very clean, and well stocked, Jan and Jon were very friendly and helpful. After catching a 5 foot Ono we asked about a BBQ and Jon brought theirs over for us to use. We were even able to use Cedar House as a base for visiting with my cousin and her 9 month old baby who lives in Hawi. Thanks for an awesome stay!

Comments: The location has a convenient access to Kohala coast while still retaining the rustic feel of a small Hawaiian town! Amazing and cozy loft with great set of accessories for cooking and relaxing. Loved the blender after the long hike. The air circulation within the cottage and the environs was great despite hot weather outside which made it easy to relax. The host had great suggestions on the places to visit :D

Comments: The house is conveniently located close to the white sand beaches in Hawaii big island and only a few miles away from the beautiful Polulu Valley trail. The host had great suggestions on what to do and especially on the best beaches to visit. Everything was in order and well indicated in the house; the kids loved the loft upstairs and we enjoyed the comfort of the mattress in the master bed. Amazon prime was great after a day hiking or at the beach. We really made the most of our stay in Hawi.

Comments: The Cedar House Loft was a wonderful place to stay in Hawi. It was much nicer than the local hotel accommodations (where my friends stayed) and it's very close to the center of Hawi town. The apartment itself is very nice and comfortable - you really feel like you have your own private studio in a beautiful, lush part of the island with everything you need. Jan and Jon were wonderful hosts - they give you all the space and privacy you want/need, yet are always ready with really helpful information, guidance, tips, and where to find hidden gems for when you want to explore more of the area. I found them to be very friendly and personable, and they made me feel very welcomed and at home. The studio is directly behind Jan and Jon's house, but you really don't feel as if you're in someone else's space - it feels very private and you can come & go as you please. I highly, highly recommend this space for a couple or a single person traveling to the Hawi area.

Comments: Cedar House Loft was great for our 2 night stay with friends. Great to have lots of space to cook and relax by the breakfast bar and watch a film in the evening. The property is located to the rear of another house with fencing around so very secure. Close to amenities of Hilo including restaurants and coffee shops. If you are sharing with others one thing to note is that the double bed downstairs is in the main room, with another mattress up on the raised mezzanine - open plan fine for us though! Wifi and Netflix were a great addition too.

Comments: Good location to experience the northern portion of the island - including the white sand beaches and a number of cultural sites. Easy to find - even in the dark - and very quiet. Jan and Jon were very responsive and friendly. Loved the fresh Meyer lemons and the recommendation to harvest a few. The Saturday Farmer's Market in Hawi was the best we found on the island - thanks for this recommendation, too! This is a small space, but well appointed for two people (tight for the three of us). The small kitchen was surprisingly just what we needed for the meals we cooked (breakfast and dinner). Loved all the windows and fans for circulation. Thanks for providing laundry detergent for a few loads - nice touch and very helpful.

The bed downstairs was insanely comfortable and tv with the netflix movies on demand was an awesome bonus at the end of a long day in the sun and surf. Thank you Jan and Jon!

Comments: When we walked in we were stunned by the cleanliness of the room. Small cozy area but we were pleasantly surprised with how roomy it felt. They had beautiful Hawaiian music playing to greet us. Very accommodating with extra towels, sunscreen and bug spray. Gave us complete privacy. The main coffee shop about a mile away was well worth the walk or drive. Would highly recommend to others.

Comments: The Cedar House was exactly as described. We stayed for a month and cooked dinner most days. The kitchen is well equipped, the gas barbecue outside was great, the eating space adequate (we had four for dinner several times), but best suited for two or three. Jan and Jon were very welcoming hosts and provided everything we needed, including help printing documents. Beds were comfortable, the space was very clean, and we were happy with everything. Location was good with good access to beaches, restaurants, and local stores. It is a long drive to major towns like Hilo and Kailua (Kona), and the volcano but this is the Big Island. We felt the Cedar House was excellent for our needs and we would certainly book it again. It is perfect for two people. We had three for one of the four weeks and that worked well.

Comments: Wonderful place in the cute little town of Hawi. The house is beautiful and luxurious. We were amazed at how well they have used the space. Every little thing is provided. Perfectly organized kitchen (wifey got kitchen envy), washer/dryer, dining area, comfortable bed, living space, patio. Our 10 year old didn't want to leave the loft :-) The location is perfect. We took the stunning coastal route up from Pahoa and explored the many waterfalls en route. The icing on the cake was driving across the "mountain road" during sunset. Stunning ! We hiked to Polulu valley, explored Waipio on horseback and boogie boarded in Hapuna beach. All within a 30-40 minute drive from Hawi. Jan and Jon are excellent hosts. Very warm and welcoming. Communication was perfect from the start. The place is really easy to find and Jan made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The attention to detail is apparent throughout the place. We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

Comments: We stayed in Jan and Jon's loft with a family of four. While it is just a single room plus a small bathroom, it is spacious and was just perfect for us. The "upstairs" bed is fun to sleep in. The loft is equipped with everything we needed - not only a fully-equipped kitchen, but also a washer and dryer. The location is very good to explore the little town of Hawi and the surrounding area. Don't miss the farmers' market if you stay here on a Saturday! Jan and Jon are wonderful hosts. They gave a very accurate description of where to find their house (we found it at dark with no problems, even without GPS) and checked back on us to make sure everything was fine. They gave us directions to the farmers' market, to beaches and so on. And it was a pleasure talking with them - it was as if we had known them for a long time already. Overall, we definitely recommend this airbnb. If you prefer more than a single room, Jan and Jon own another house which is on the same lot...

Comments: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Jan and Jon's loft and hope to visit there again. It is everything as described and then some. Unfortunately, I did not meet Jan but Jon greeted me initially and dropped by another time or two. I did not need him for anything but am confident he would have been available if necessary. The loft is nicely furnished, very comfortable and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

Comments: This is a hidden gem in the beautiful village of Hawi. We loved every minute of our trip to Hawi. The apartment was such an amazing space to come home to and the facilities just great. Jon is a really nice guy and was so helpful and friendly, we found his recommendations to be perfect. Kaapa Beach has to be some of the best snorkelling we have done in Hawaii and so close. Loved the Bamboo restaurant a taste of real Hawaii. Loved being away from it all. I would highly recommend you stay here when visiting this part of the Island we loved it.

Comments: The Cedar House is in a great neighborhood, with local markets, shops, and restaurants. Jan and Jon made us feel very welcome, and even gave us some fresh fruit from their garden (best bananas I've ever had!). The house was very clean and very spacious with its high ceilings. Surprsingly, there were almost no insects in the house, given what our friends experienced during their stay in Kohala. The washing machine and outdoor patio were very convenient as well. Overall, a fantastic experience and I would absolutely stay again.

Comments: Jan & Jon's place is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The stained glass, green bamboo fence and hardwood floors make for a bright and cheery ambience. It's right near *downtown Hawi* (which is such a quaint and sleepy town, that using the term *downtown* is generous), and it's a great homebase for exploring nearby sights, lookouts, beaches and for spotting the occasional whale. The coffee shop nearby has amazing ice cream and tasty breakfast, the hot tub was perfect for evening soaks and having a washer/dryer (at the midway point of our trip) was a game changer.

We were here for a wedding that took place at a house down the street, but on our extra day, we went to Hapuna beach (as suggested by Jan, amongst many other great recommendations) and had a great time because we didn't have to rent a thing. The loft had beach chairs, an umbrella, towels and even and ice chest and ice packs ready to go! The artful touches such as stained glass in the door and the cheerful yellow coverlet on the bed made it feel very classy :) This is a great find and I highly recommend it to anyone!!! There's a skydiving company down the road called Big Island Gravity (BIG) Skydiving- do not miss that!! Their airport is a ten minute drive from the house. Comments: Great spot! Hawi was a nice little town to base all our adventures out of. We stayed for three nights at Jon&Jans place. Jon came by and pointed out some snorkeling and hiking spots on the map after asking what we were looking for during our vacation... very helpful and informative about local spots to check out. We drove all over the island from Hawi. Definitely need a rental car for this location to get around... we went to the Hawi farmers market, snorkeled at a couple beaches (saw about 10 sea turtles at one!), saw the lava flow enter the Pacific, went to the Volcanoes National Park, visited the Kona brewery, went to the summit of Mauna Kea at 13k feet, all based out of Hawi! We had a gecko friend hanging out in the house during our stay, so if you don't like critters it may not be the place for you. But pictures are very accurate, the space is large, impeccably clean, and very nicely furnished. It felt like home!!! Would definitely go back and stay again.

Comments: We had a wonderful stay at the Cedar House Loft. Hawi is a nice little corner of the Big Island, with a cute little downtown and beautiful nearby beaches, hiking trails, snorkeling spots, and country roads to explore. Jan & Jon's place was an ideal place for us to experience Hawi and the Kohala Coast. The apartment was clean, newly-appointed, quiet, and very comfortable for us to relax after our adventures nearby. All the facilities are of an excellent standard - BBQ, hot tub (filled and ready to go on arrival), the oversize washing machine and dryer (HUGE!) and the gorgeous little touches like fresh coffee beans and a grinder, fresh bananas on arrival and a run down on some really neat things to do locally have made this visit truly special. Comments: Staying at Jan and Jon’s place was a wonderful experience, for many reasons. The location, Hawi town, was pristine — far from the vog we saw in the Kona region. Hawi is also greener, cooler (ocean breeze), and more secluded than the resort enclaves to the south, as well as a short drive from some of the island’s best beaches (20 minute drive to Hapuna). We also had a view of Maui! Jan and Jon showed extraordinary hospitality, going the extra mile to make our stay so special. The loft house had everything that a hotel could offer, plus thoughtful touches like supplies for beach days (lounging chairs, umbrella, body boards, and a cooler). They also provided a pack ‘n play crib for our 18-month-old. Our private jacuzzi and BBQ grill were bonuses as well. All in all, this was an excellent experience and much of it thanks to the expert hospitality from Jan and Jon. Mahalo!

Comments: This place was great and became our little home for almost a week during our stay. The place is like a mini apartment complete with a washer/dryer, shower and outdoor hot tub. No AC but the breeze and ceiling fans kept us cool during the day and night. The hot tub was warm and worked well. WiFi worked well and the TV had Netflix along with a few other app/channels. I recommend this place for couples traveling alone or for a family with small children. The loft bed overlooks the entire space so unless you don’t mind a lack of privacy I’d say this is good for 3-4 people. The couch was comfy but not long enough to sleep an adult. Loft bed wouldn’t be ideal for tall people either. The location was in walking distance to the small town of Hawi where several shops and restaurants are located. The local food was excellent and the place was easy to find. About an hour north from the airport via a scenic drive during the day. Although we never met the hosts they were quick to respond and supplied us with information we needed. There were plenty of clean towels, beach towels and beach chairs all available for our use. We had a designated parking spot and it was very quiet at night. We had ample privacy and felt safe staying there. I would stay again and recommend this place.

Comments: We are two young professionals in our respected fields; we are able bodied, responsible, quiet, adventure seekers. We visited the Big Island for two weeks in August of 2018 on vacation. We stayed in 3 different Airbnbs while on vacation, this was our last location and we chose it for financial reasons (it was about $100 less than the other places we stayed). This location was our least favorite place due to the comfortability and the location (see list below). We wish we had stayed in this location for 3 days instead of 5. This space was very basic. Basic can be great at times and quite annoying at others. Thank you to the hosts for offering a safe place to stay. Pros: - Safe - Bed is comfortable - Newer TV (it was nice to have the option to watch TV at night) - Basics included (4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 glasses; hotel soap/shampoo; paper towels; small amount of coffee) - Clean hot tub - Quiet - Parking space provided - Great vegetarian restaurant in town, great sushi too. Cons: - Does not feel homey, feels more like a garage converted to a living space (we love Airbnbs that make us feel like we are staying at a friends house) - Tiny outside area with annoying gravel and motion detector light - Remote location, there are two or three restaurants in town that are great but this is a teeny tiny Hawaiian town be prepared. The volcano erupting also messed with our plans, we had stayed here because its closer to Hilo and that side of the island. Without that section to explore we ran out of things to do. This is not at all the hosts fault just something to consider in regards to your plans. - Teeny tiny kitchen, we used the table pictured as a bar in the picture as extra counter space and the owner wanted to charge us almost $90 to refinish it after our stay. We explained that we never placed anything greasy on it but probably set cold glass containers on it. How could that stain a table meant to be a bar?? They dropped that extra charge but it brought unneeded stress. We will definitely start taking pictures of all the Airbnbs we stay in now due to this experience.

Comments: The studio cottage was cozy and comfortable and very clean. The host, Jon, provided very good insider suggestions on places to visit and see on the north side of the Big Island. The location was great for visits to some great snorkeling and hiking locations. Local food was great.

Comments: The Cedar House Loft is a wonderful place to stay! We loved the stained glass windows and everything was so clean. Soaking in the hot tub on a chilly, blustery, and rainy night was also a nice touch. Jan&Jon were thoughtful and quick to communicate. One thing to note for future travelers, that while the Cedar House Loft is very private, it is still connected to the main house (under the same roof). Thanks to Jan&Jon for a fantastic "stay-cation"!

Comments: This is a lovely, bright, clean space in a great location. We truly enjoyed our time here. The kitchen was spacious which was wonderful for cooking meals at home. The bed was very comfortable. And the location is cooler than some other parts of the island, which was so nice in the evenings. Close to beautiful beaches, hikes, and other activities. Town is cute with restaurants and cafes and a great feel. We highly recommend this place.

Comments: Jon & Jan are great hosts. The cedar loft is very comfortable and clean with just enough kitchen to make meals at home. We loved the hot tub, especially soaking in the evening watching the full moon and clouds drift by. It’s a sweet location to explore the Kohala coast. We might just be back again! :)

Comments: It is a large, open, and airy space with a hot tub to view the stars right out the door. The inside and outside areas have great privacy, so it is very easy to relax and enjoy Hawaii.

Comments: This is the space was very comfortable for my family of four. The hot tub was very clean and it was very nice to sit and look at the stars or the bamboo or the topical rain while enjoying a soak. The beds were very comfortable. They provided boogie boards, beach towels, and everything we needed to have a great visit. Jon am Jan are outstanding hosts and even provided us with fresh fruit from their property.

Comments: Jon and Jan's place is clean, spacious and conveniently located near Hawi town. We traveled with our toddler and they provided a high chair on our request. The kitchen is pretty big considering it's a studio so it was very convenient with our toddler as we mostly cooked. Jon was very hospitable and gave us good recommendations on restraunts and beaches. The hot tub was also great - you can relax watching the bright stars at night. We felt very at home there. Will definitely come back to stay with them the next time we're in Hawi!

Comments: Take a good look at the pictures and also use (Hidden by Airbnb) Street View to check out the town of Hawi Hawaii. This place and its location were way better than expected. It was awesome that, (this was the first time), I finally got to meet the landlords. Their picture might be great on the internet, but once again, way better in person. if you want the best and biggest lemons in the world for free, rent this place. Very clean. No carpeting to worry about. Extremely roomy for two people. Nice hot tub. Good supplies.

Comments: Cozy, quiet spot in a less-visited location on the Big Island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jan and Jon's loft and would recommend it to both singles and small families looking for a more "local" experience than what you'd get in Kona or at the big resorts. Jon greeted us when we arrived, answered all our questions, and shared excellent restaurant and activity recommendations. I only wish we'd had more time to follow up on all of them.

Comments: Lovely house in a cool location on Hawaii. The hot tub is fabulous and the space is stylish and exactly as described. Would stay again! Jan was even helpful when we tried to have a package delivered (harder than it seems in Hawaii)

Comments: This is a studio listing with two beds one of which is in a loft but not enclosed. It's one big room with no privacy if you are traveling with others. Best for a couple. The place was clean and the hottub was a good feature.

Comments: The Ceder House Loft was a great place to stay for exploring Hawi and Pololu Valley. The hot tub is a plus for sure! For a couple it is more than enough space, and the loft bed was really cool. We also really appreciated the washer and dryer in the unit! The place is really close to Hawi town which was great for getting coffee in the mornings and we ate at Sushi Rock both nights, totally recommend!
