  Comments: Steef's place was great in many ways. He and his wonderful family made me feel very welcomed and I very much enjoyed meeting all of them. You get the entire 2nd floor of a three story brownstone. It was recently renovated and very nicely appointed. I slept very well both nights. You can have real privacy there if you wish. It's not a place to have a party with friends over but it is ideal for singles or couples to use as a base to explore Brooklyn or eat at any one of the several trendy restaurants just round the corner (check out Saraghina!). After all that you can come home and relax. All in all a strong recommend.

  Comments: My girlfriend and I stayed at Steefs freshly renovated Brooklyn brownstone house for one week and liked it very much. We got one floor just for us with our own bathroom, own etrance and a brand new coffee maker. Everything was perfectly cleaned up and the bed very comftortable. Steef, his wife and his children were very great hosts and we felt very welcomed. They had great advices for our stay in New York. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and very authentic with plenty opportunities for shopping and eating. With the nearby subway stations you can reach Brooklyn or Manhatten very fast. To conclude: We recommend in every way.

  Comments: My girlfriend and I stayed on the second floor of this beautiful brownstone for two nights while there were guests at our apartment in Bushwick. We arrived earlier than we initially planned and were immediately greeted by our gracious host and given a tour of where we would be staying. The woodwork in the second floor apartment, which I believe we were told was refinished by Steef and his family, created a warm, cozy backdrop for our weekend in this peaceful neighborhood. The apartment had the intimacy of a bed and breakfast with a comfortable level of privacy. Steef and his wife made sure that we felt at home and made things very easy for us with prompt and clear communication. Among the establishments nearby that we enjoyed were Saraghina, which was suggested to us by our host and had food that certainly rivaled over-celebrated artisan pizzerias such as Roberta's in style, taste and atmosphere, and Georges-Andre Vintage Café, a homey spot on Halsey and Stuyvesant with donuts from Dough and excellent cappuccinos. I would definitely suggest Steef's apartment to anyone who wanted to get in touch with this gorgeous section of Brooklyn, including out-of-towners given the easy access to the A and C at the Kingston-Throop stop.

  Comments: It was a pleasure to meet Steef and his wife. Me and my boyfriend stayed at their place 5 days and enjoyed it very much - it was a great choice! I felt homey, but very private at the same time. Steef and his wife were helpful and friendly. I was completely satisfied with the place: the apartment is spacey, very cozy, artistic, freshly made and situated in the nice street of Brooklyn. An extra bonus from us goes for the 2 great world music CDs which totally completed the atmosphere of the place. Thank you and good luck Steef!

  Comments: I had never been to Brooklyn before but I certainly found a home there at Steef's place. Steef made sure that we were taken care of even before we arrived. We arrived on the early side and that was no problem at all. He welcomed us and stayed in touch throughout our stay to make sure we had all we needed and to just see how our day went. The place itself was packed with charm and there was more space than you might expect. You could hear a pin drop at night in a very peaceful neighborhood with super easy access to a train right into the city. A great deal!

  Comments: All around great experience staying at Steef's place. The space is large and relaxing for two people, bathroom is clean and spacious, and bed is comfortable. Steef gave us great recommendations on places to eat in the neighborhood, and while Bed-Stuy isn't a tourist hotspot, there are some really great restaurants and cafes on Lewis St, just around the block from his place. I highly recommend staying with Steef if you want a quiet escape in Brooklyn.

Beautiful 3 room apartment practically. Comfortable furniture and fully stocked bathroom for anything you forgot. Though we were in and out mostly we felt comfortable and unintrusive on our comings and goings. Neighborhood is still old bedstuy for the most part but Hancock is a pleasant street all brownstones.   Comments: My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Steef's. He was very helpful before we left, helping us to figure out parking and making himself available for us to check-in in the midafternoon. The place was exactly as he described it. Room was simple and clean. Bathroom was very nice. The location was great. A few nice restaurants close and very easy to catch the subway right into Manhattan. Steef was very available when we needed him. We would definitely stay with him again and would highly recommend his place to others.

The space has everything you would need to be comfortable and feel at home. Steve met us at the door when we arrived and provided us with everything that we would need to enjoy our visit. He is a very gracious and enjoyable host! Getting around in both Brooklyn and Manhattan was very easy and quite convenient. We had a short walk to a subway station and were able to take the C train almost everywhere we needed to go. It was only a 30 minute cab ride to and from JFK airport. I would absolutely recommend Steef's home to others visiting New York. We would happily stay there again.

  Comments: My girlfriend and I had to take a last minute trip to New York. Steef was very prompt in responding to our reservation, as well as replying to messages. We stayed in his gorgeous brownstone in Bedstuy, everything was clean, he was very gracious and courteous when we first up. Told us everything we'd need to know. It was easy to get downtown via the C train - 8 min walk - and later to my girlfriend's sister's house in Bushwick - 5 min drive. Was pleasantly surprised Steef had set aside coffee and water for us--didn't realize Airbnbs did that! All around it was a great place to stay in Brooklyn!

  Comments: We had a fantastic stay here, the photos are accurate, it's just beautiful. I liked the neighborhood, it was diverse and had lots of personality, walking distance to subway station, we went to nearby restaurants Peaches and Saraghina, enjoyed them immensely! Many of the friends I was visiting live in Brooklyn, so we wanted to remain centrally located, and that meant that we got to see many of Brooklyn's different neighborhoods. This was my first real visit to NY and I was delighted that the block we were on reminded me a lot of Sesame Street (I'm from Indiana) - but you'll notice a lot of blocks like that! Comfy living room to chill out in, with great windows facing the street. There's no kitchen to speak of, but a cabinet with a small fridge and a coffee maker had everything we needed for coffee and the Saraghina bakery nearby fed us in the morning. Would stay again!

  Comments: We hebben 5 nachten verbleven in dit charmante appartement in Brooklyn. Al tijdens de voorbereiding van de trip en het boeken hadden we een goed contact met verhuurder Steef. Snelle reactie op onze mailberichten en beantwoording van onze vragen. Op dag van aankomst werden we hartelijk ontvangen en wegwijs gemaakt. Het appartement ligt in een rustige buurt, op korte loopafstand van de metro en leuke restaurants. Het appartement is zeer ruim, schoon, een goed bed en fijn dat je een aparte woonkamer hebt waar je kunt vertoeven als je dat wilt. Mogelijkheid voor het zetten van koffie en thee en de aanwezigheid van servies, bestek en een koelkastje vonden wij heel erg praktisch en prettig. Steef, bedankt voor je goede zorgen, de fijne ontvangst en de tips! We hebben erg genoten van onze trip en kunnen (en zullen) dan ook iedereen jullie appartement aanbevelen.   Comments: This is a beautiful floor for rent in one of the nice streets full of brown stones in Bed-Stuy. A comfortable and spacious en suite living in with Steef and his family, but with plenty of privacy and a large private bathroom. No kitchen, but a kettle, coffee maker and fridge and a couple of good restaurants just a block away. Steef is a very pleasant host, who is always there when you have questions. Highly recommended! Ook heel leuk voor Nederlandstalige gasten. Tip: explore Brooklyn by bus, much easier than by subway, and loads more to see.

He was prompt in communication and most considerate, providing the essentials in the kitchen area, extra blankets and umbrellas when needed and letting us leave our bags after check out as we had an evening flight. He also gave excellent suggestions of food in the area and places to visit. The apartment was spacious and charming. Pictures and descriptions were as stated. The natural light and breeze were a lovely perk. It was so nice to return to the cozy apartment after a day out in the city. The location was convenient to subways and very pedestrian friendly.   Comments: So I’ve been fortunate to have stayed in some of the best kept and presented hotels, guests houses, apartments and holidays homes across the world. This beautiful brownstone townhouse, lovingly restored by Steef and his family is an excellent representation of what can be achieved if a host has that extra attention for detail and focus on customer service. This high ceiling apartment has many original features from the period; the smart bedroom looks over an enchanted designed garden, all located in a diverse neighbourhood. I pop along to a local hipster coffee shop and met a full range of people, from urban types, to young professional family types, established members of the Jewish, LGBT, art and music communities to a host of friendly New Yorkers (check out Counter Culture Café for a real positive clash of heritage). The apartment has a kitchenette arrangement; is just enough and very much like one would find in a city centre property in Paris, Bangkok, Tokyo or anywhere else in the world where a good cooked meal is so inexpensive to buy it really doesn’t make sense to cook. This has been a real joy from start of the process and I’m looking forward to staying again on my next trip.... 10/10 for Steef’s hosting skills - big respect.

  Comments: Ich habe 10 Tage in Steefs Apartment gewohnt und bin sehr zufrieden mit Unterkunft. Das Apartment entspricht voll und ganz der Beschreibung und den Bildern. In der Nachbarschaft kann man 24 Stunden einkaufen und auch Essen gehen. Steef hat mich nett empfangen und mir entsprechende Tips in der Umgebung gegeben. Auch wenn man spontan was braucht war er sofort zur Stelle. Mit der UBahn dauerte es circa einer halbe Stunde von der Haustür bis nach Manhatten.

  Comments: We feel so fortunate to have found Steef and his apartment in Bed-Stuy and will certainly be back. We were in Brooklyn to help our daughter move into an apartment that turned out to be just down the street! So the location was great--not just for us but for being a really interesting neighborhood to explore and being convenient to other parts of Brooklyn and to the A/C subway. Steef was easy to communicate with beforehand, waited for our late arrival and was friendly and helpful when we were there. The apartment is spacious, clean and nicely furnished and it was very comfortable to spend time there on a rainy afternoon. Great coffee shops nearby. Try Manny's on Patchen for breakfast/brunch. Steef and his family have lived in the neighborhood for over a decade so know it well. My only worry is that Steef's place will be so popular it will be booked when we want to return!

  Comments: Steef was wonderful. He stayed up late to greet us, even though our flight was quite late, and helped us with our bags when we got to his brownstone. His neighborhood is quaint, and his brownstone is even more beautiful than the photos show. The neighborhood itself is quite walkable and is in an up and coming part of Brooklyn. Steef's rental unit is air-conditioned, clean, comfortable, and spacious. Well worth it for the price. The neighborhood is quiet, and with bodegas nearby, convenient. Steef leaves detailed instructions for everyone who stays at his place, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Steef is a great guy, and made the whole check out process easy.   Comments: Estuvimos 15 días y lo pasamos muy bien!! Daniella y Steef son muy buenos anfitriones, simpáticos, amables, dispuestos a ayudarte en todo lo que necesites. Gracias a Anne (mamá de Daniella) que nos fue a recibir el sábado, después de que a último momento nos cambiaran el vuelo del avión y llegáramos antes de lo previsto. El departamento es muy cómodo, amplio, como se muestra en las fotos. El aire acondicionado y el refrigerador nos vino muy bien para aplacar el calor que hizo durante nuestra estadía. Nos gustó mucho el barrio y nos movilizamos muy bien en subte y colectivo. No tuvimos ningún inconveniente, si bien es cierto que no volvíamos de madrugada. Gracias Steef por alcanzarnos hasta el subte, las valijas estaban realmente pesadas!! De nuevo, gracias a los dos!! Esperamos volver!!

  Comments: The accommodation at Steef is very nice, there is everything you need, audio equipment cd available, make us feel like home. The apartment was very clean. His welcome is warm and he takes the time to look after you, your advice on tours. The situation of the apartment is 8 minutes walk from the subway station Utica is on the blue line. It's very nice to walk there, I recommend the Brooklyn Bridge is not far away, a foot crossing to please the eye. Brooklyn is less known than Manathan but is probably quieter. I stayed three nights and it was very pleasant. Thank you to Steef. :-))

  Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay in Steef's old brownstone home in Brooklyn. Steef is a fantastic host, a clear communicator and eager to ensure you are comfortable and orientated to the neighbourhood. While there is no kitchen there is a generous supply of basic catering items (mini fridge, coffee machine, jug and utensils). The bathroom is large and spotlessly clean and is located just outside the 3 rooms in the communal corridor of the house - but is solely for your use. Steef and his family really do everything possible to ensure & protect your privacy during the stay. The neighbourhood is quiet, safe and convenient. 2 subway stations are within walking distance and there are many convenience / deli stores close by and open until late.   Comments: Steef is an excellent host. He made sure we were familiar with the neighborhood, suggesting local shopping and restaurants. He had a lots of New York information available including a subway map. He took the time to check in with us several times during our stay. Our parlour floor apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped (as described in Steef's write up). We also appreciated the character of his lovely home. He was quick to respond with helpful information when we texted him. It was fun feeling like we were part of a neighborhood. He was always on hand if we had any questions, and checked up on us a few times in the week to let yous know if something was going on locally and to make sure we were ok. The flat is beautiful, really spacious and fantastically presented. The area is nice and quiet on a night as well. Although there is no kitchen, we didn't find this a problem at all. It's new york! There's 1000s of places to choose from to eat, including a few great places 5 minutes walk from the front door. Steef did provide a coffee machine and tea making facilities if you need a caffeine fix first thing! Would definatly recommend staying here.

  Comments: My friend and I had and incredible experience here! I highly recommend this Airbnb, and as my first time in NYC and using Airbnb, I can honestly say it was such an amazing experience. Steef is a really cool, friendly person who is very welcoming. If you have any questions about NYC he is the go to guy for that! He recommended some great restaurants around the place and we went to Tepache (a Mexican restaurant) and it was a great recommendation! He'll provide you a list of bars and restaurants to try and a map with which transits to take! The studio is a very charming place in a safe, quiet neighborhood not too far from everything! Williamsburg is maybe about 15 minutes away and Manhattan is just about 25 minutes away. Around 30 minutes away from JFK (by car). When I comeback to NYC I'll definitely be staying here again! Place was super clean and location was perfect, just a block or so to an excellent collection of delicious restaurants, pubs and a live music venue. We always do Manhattan, but so much cool stuff in Brooklyn including museums, botanical gardens, parks, eats and shops. Ended up here for our entire stay! Can't wait to stay at Steef's place again!

The parlor floor had old-world charm, and was very comfortable and private. There Bedford-Stuyvesant has a few really nice coffee shops and restaurants, but otherwise was mostly residential. Some of the areas on Fulton St were low-income, and that was where the nearest (A)/(C) train stops were. We recommend staying with Steef, but do your research regarding Brooklyn neighborhoods before you make your decision.

  Comments: Our stay with Steef was very comfortable. He is a gracious and helpful host. We had the whole second floor of his brownstone home, with a private bathroom. It was spacious and well equipped. The neighbourhood of Bed Stuy is safe and gentrifying, so we were able to eat at delicious restaurants and even found a coffee shop called Brunswick which is owned and run by a Melbournian. Steef's home is about a 10 minute walk to the station (Utica) from which you can take an express train to Manhattan. Thanks for your hospitality, Steef.

Von da aus mit der Express Linie war man in ca 28 Minuten direkt am central Park.   Comments: When I rate/review something for me it boils down to one question, Would I stay there again? that is a definite yes. The apartment is every bit as nice as shown in the pictures. Was very clean, and quiet. I liked the neighborhood, I checked out a few of the places Steef recommended, LunAtico is a neat bar, some interesting music going on the night I was there. Olivino (wine store) had a decent selection to chose from. I highly recommend a fairly new French Restaurant just up the street a few blocks, L'Antagoniste, food was good and a very nice wine list

  Comments: When my husband and I were selecting a room to stay in Brooklyn for a weekend we wanted a place centrally located to different things and well kept. Steef's one bedroom in his brownstone exceeded our expectations. The unit is beautifully decorated, very clean and only a ten minute walk to the A express line train. Also, Steef was a great host by being available when we first arrived to give us the keys and to recommend some great restaurants in the area (e.g., Peaches and L'Antogoniste). The neighborhood is very charming with all types of places to eat within walking distance and safe, but still easy to travel to other parts of Brooklyn by Uber or cab. I highly recommend Steef's one bedroom for anyone looking to stay in Brooklyn and exploring that part of the City.

  Comments: Steef greeted me the moment I got out of the cab and we went over everything I needed right away (and if he hadn't been around that day I'm sure he would have found a way to make the check-in go just as smoothly). The apartment was clean and just as described -- Steef's woodwork on the brownstone is even cooler in person. Everything I needed was available: empty dresser, coffee maker, tea, mugs, plates, utensils, clean towels and bedding, fridge, comfy furniture, etc. The building was quiet, comfortable, and when I'd see Steef or his wife around they were welcoming and generous. Away from tourist-mad Manhattan, this felt like experiencing a real NY neighbourhood. A short walk from the Subway, everyone we met was friendly and the locals bars, restaurants and shops were great! The rooms in the apartment were spotless and modern whilst the vintage decor gave it such a great feel. Since we stayed for over a week, it was nice to have a spacious, private place to relax, while it was also easy to take the subway into Manhattan to do the tourist things. The apartment was spotless and just like the description. We also liked the neighborhood, which was quiet but still had some nice places to eat or drink (we especially enjoyed the Mexican restaurant just around the corner). We woke up a couple of times from the firetrucks that passed the house from the fire station that is situated in the same street, but it was usually not a problem. Steef was a great host, easy to communicate with and accomodating. I would reccomend this place to anyone!

O motorista do taxi voltou dentro de 2 horas para devolver a bolsa. Ambos salvaram nossa viagem a NYC. A vizinhança é quieta, muito segura e respeitosa. Perto da casa do Steef tem pequenos mercados e locais para comer. O metrô não fica longe, 10 minutos de caminhada (aproximadamente 6 quarteirões)e liga diretamente a Manhattan. Uma viagem a Times Square, por exemplo, demorará entre 30 a 40min. Se você vai visitar Nova York, a casa do Steef é altamente recomendável. Foi um imenso prazer.

I tend to be particular about things like bedding, and the sheets were crisp and fresh and the bed comfortable. The woodwork was beautiful and we loved the interesting finds that were used to decorate the rooms. Plenty of drawers if you don't want to live out of your suitcase, and all the amenities needed, from an iron and ironing board to a coffee maker to extra lotion and shampoo. The location was perfect for us - an easy walk to subway stops, and a variety of good local restaurants nearby. I hope to be back!

  Comments: Steef was great - very happy and welcoming to his home. The space is a separate 'apartment' but with no kitchen facilities as described. However there is a wonderful cupboard full of coffee and tea making facilities, including a fridge containing different types of milk. This was a nice treat when waking up on a Saturday morning. Le lit est super comfortable, la rue calme et l'on se sent comme chez soi dans cette maison. Seul petit bémol (qui ne nous a pas dérangé car nous sommes restés 6 nuits), c'est un peu loin de New York ( une bonne demie heure en métro), mais nous étions ravis de sortir de New York pour dormir et être dans un quartier authentique de Brooklyn sans touristes !!!! En plus, excellent restaurant italien à 3 minutes à pied !!

Plus, Steef's place has many nice touches, chairs and a comfortable bed. Last but not least, Steef really is a super host.   Comments: A brownstone haven after the crush, crowds and chaos of a day in Manhattan! Steef is the perfect host and this lovely, comfortable apartment is a great place to use as a home base. The local area has some fantastic places to eat and drink, our favourite being Zacas for delicious, healthy food and a great relaxed atmosphere. My partner and I aren't fans of big cities and crowded restaurants, so the Brooklyn area was perfect for us. Steef went out of his way to help us whenever we needed assistance or advice. You have your own private bath, a tv to watch, wifi connections , and the Subway connection to Manhattan is only a few blocks away.   Comments: We stayed at Steef's place in Bed-Stuy for 6 nights and it was everything we wanted it to be. Steef is a great host - lots of advice for places eat and things to do and always available if we needed him. The space itself is absolutely beautiful - roomy, clean and full of interesting decorative items. The bed is super comfy and the bathroom was great (lovely shower!). The location is awesome - 10 mins maximum walk to a few different subway stations and the choice of local or express trains to Manhattan. The local area is eclectic and beautiful - a welcome respite after a busy day. Plenty of bars/restaurants/wine shops and Delis everywhere. Our favourite breakfast spot, Manny's, is a 10 min walk and they also have a great Wine shop with friendly staff. We honestly can't wait to return!
