  Comments: We found ourselves in need of a place to stay on very short notice and Marcelo fixed us up quickly with very comfortable beds and good wifi in a central neighborhood. It was all we needed. Mario was very responsive and kind, but we didn't met him in person. If you're looking to stay with locals, this may not be your place. It's like a hostel with a number of rooms sharing a kitchen, living area, balcony and bathrooms. It's very nice.

Não posso deixar de referir que a cama é fantástica. Gostámos bastante da localização. Junto à Rua de Santa Catarina e com o metro quase à porta, não poderia ser melhor. O Mário também disponibilizou informação sobre a cidade e as actividades a decorrer o que foi uma óptima ajuda para decidir o programa da estadia.   Comments: Mario ne vit pas sur place, mais en proche banlieue. Il reste néanmoins attentif à la réception de ses hôtes (même si nous concernant il y a eu un petit raté, compte tenu que nous sommes arrivés à 8h dans un appartement vide et avons été pris d'un doute en voyant toutes les chambres utilisées). L'appartement a un petit côté auberge espagnole, avec les allées-venues chaque jour d'hôtes de toutes nationalités. Sur quatre jours nous n'avons eu aucun problème de cohabitation, nos voisins étant majoritairement des couples - chacun disposant des parties communes avec respect et indépendance. Une femme de ménage passe d'ailleurs régulièrement préparer les chambres (5 en tout). Les photos sont bien fidèles à la réalité. Nous n'avons finalement pas pris la chambre 1 : on y entend tous les bruits de circulation (murs fins, fenêtre simple vitrage) et elle communique par une cloison coulissante à une autre chambre. Préférez la chambre 5 (la meilleure selon Mario himself) plus au calme et qui bénéficie d'une meilleure exposition (+ accès à la terrasse, véritable atout j'imagine l'été), sans compter sa proximité avec la SDB et les WC (non négligeable quand c'est à partager avec d'autres hôtes). Savon et shampoing ne sont pas fournis. Des plans de la ville bien pratiques avec tous les spots touristiques sont en revanche en accès libre. Le petit déjeuner est sans intérêt : il est proposé dans un café quelconque (ambiance bar PMU) situé à 5 min., en échange d'un petit coupon qui donne droit à une formule très basique. Nous n’avons pas utilisé la cuisine, mais elle semble fonctionnelle et on trouve facilement des supermarchés aux alentours. L’emplacement à proximité de la rue Sainte-catherine, et l’accès direct en métro depuis l’aéroport en font un lieu de choix. On a eu un petit coup de coeur pour le très local Cafe Guedes situé à qqs rues, qui propose de petits sandwichs avec lanières de porc ou fromage de brebis. Le seul petit bémol à noter (et uniquement valable en temps de grand froid) est l’absence de vrai chauffage dans les chambres. Seul un mini chauffage électrique faisait office de source de chaleur ; il faut sinon se débrouiller avec les couvertures supplémentaires mises à disposition. Mais on oublie vite ce désagrément devant la gentillesse de Mario, prompt à vous répondre par mail pour vous proposer des itinéraires de visite de la ville ou des suggestions de restaurant. Pour dire, une attention qui m’a beaucoup touchée : il avait même laissé en notre absence un mot sur la table du salon accompagné de petites friandises pour souhaiter la bonne année à ses hôtes airbnb !

  Comments: We have very much enjoyed staying at Mario's bed and breakfast! I would definately recommend going to this B&B! The rooms are very nicely decorated, everything is really clean and it's just a 5 minute walk to the city centre and very close to the metro. But best of all is that Mario and his wife are really friendly. They have great tips on where to go for dinner etc and will help you with everything you need! Mario responds to his mail very quickly, which in nice in case you have any questions. Overall, we have had a very pleasant stay in Porto and I definately would go there again! I was need to look around the area as Im moving across in the newer future and found the apartment to be in an excellent location for walking around and using the the metro. The apartment itself was very clean, individual rooms could be locked as well which was very reassuring. Highly recommend the stay!

A little bit noisy at night, but it is normal when you sleep in downtown, didn't have any problem falling asleep. The breakfast is in a café near the BnB, simple, fast and really good!   Comments: We booked this room but we get another on the same streat B&B Mercado do Bolhão 2 Location of this flat is great, just oposit the metro station, near the small local market. It takes nearly 30 min to get there from airport. Beautiful view from this room. The room was perfect cleaned. We got vouchers for teasty breakfast in nearly cafeteria.

Mario is very friendly, very helpful, everything was explained very well with all the details of the apartment, also has a very funny and helpful map of Porto, with a great design.   Comments: If you plan to visit Oporto, Mario's apartment it's a great choice. It is well located, close to the center- shopping area. Mario is a fantastic host who facilitate us a map of the area with good recommendations on restaurants and places to visit. He was kind enough to let us rent his parking place (with a very cheap price and close to the apartment). The rooms were wide and decorated with good taste. Also the beds were big and comfortable. The terrace is really nice, we felt like home.

  Comments: The house is very well located, right by the subway and one of the best streets to walk around (Rua de santa Catarina) there's a ton of shops around, and a supermarket just across the street. The whole apartment is very clean and comfortable and the bedroom I stayed in (Nº1) was very spacious. There are two bathrooms (one with shower) wich makes it fairly easy to use even when the house is full. There was also a heater in the bedroom which was really helpful as the nights were very cold. The only downside of the room is that we can hear everything that happens on the stairwell but since there wasn't any movement after hours so it was not a big deal. Because I was out most of the time I ended up not using the patio but it's just as in the pictures and it must be great to spend some time. Mario also provided an amazing map with tons of points of interest, from where to eat to what to visit and it's drawn in way that makes it really easy to read and not get lost. Also, the chek-in is really pratical as you can do it at any time without bothering anyone with time constraints. For the low value and the added breakfast, which is great, I definitely recommend it and will be back! Francisco

  Comments: Mario's apartment feels like it's in the center of everything. Within a few minutes of walking there are lots of shops, cafés, restaurants and sights. We only had a brief stay at his place, but felt very welcome and would come back any time. It being January Mario made sure there was an electric heater in the room that kept us warm at night. We stayed in a few other places during our Winter trip, and Mario's definitely was the warmest! :-) The entire apartment was very clean, and having 2 bathrooms with shower was great. The room has blinds on the windows and doors so no light falls into the room when you're sleeping.

  Comments: Mario's flat is cozy, convenient, and clean, just what I was looking for. Location is great, the majority of tourist spots are within walking distance. The flat was nice and quiet and I was able to feel at home. Mario came to help when I (thought I) couldn't get in, and also gave me loads of information on where/what to see! Very helpful, and can tell that he takes hospitality very seriously! Make sure to take advantage of the cafe at the nearby breakfast as well. All in all, this place is a great value for money, and I hope to come back again!

  Comments: We arrived late at night but that was no problem at all, because of an electronic door locker. We came from the airport by metro and it's very easy to find! no changes (30min) and very close to the metro exit. It is a very nice flat with 5 rooms and kitchen and two bathrooms and terrace and and and ;) as breakfast you'll get a voucher for a nearby cafe wich is also very nice! coffee, tea, lemonade... it not very much (sorry but you have to know I could always eat ;) ) but you are no longer hungry and can start your walking trip around Porto right after finishing your food. As we checked out I talked like 10 minutes with Mario on the phone and he even gave us some tips for our route to Lisboa and he was very kind! Sadly we stayed just one night and if there is any chance we visit Porto again, it would be in his Apartment! :)

Poderia melhorar facultando informações sobre transporte até ao local, pois por ignorar a facilidade de apanhar o metro directo acabei por usar um taxi e foi muito caro.   Comments: Mario was there to greet us into his lovely apartment, which has a really great location, being only a few minutes from many attractions, shops, restaurants etc. The room and bathroom were both great, there is loads of space for everyone and an amazing terrace! What was super impressive is that Mario actually went through the trouble to print maps and create an actual Mobile App with key attractions/places to eat and how to get to them from his apartment! Amazing!

  Comments: Mario's place was great for our short stay in Porto since it is located in the city centre. He gave us all the information we needed and answered our questions very quickly, even though he doesn't live in the apartment himself. The whole apartment (5 guest rooms, 2 bathrooms, big living room, kitchen & terrace) and our room were clean and had everything we needed. Mario made us feel welcome and gave us a good introduction to the apartment & the city - he even has his own app for exploring the city easily! We can definitely recommend staying at his apartment.

  Comments: I already knew Porto from other visits, but I had never stayed near Bolhao Market and the Bolhao Metro Station in the city centre. So I felt quite happy when I discovered Mario's Place and assured my stay there for 4 nights. The apartment consists of 5 guest rooms, a living room with a small, but useful library, a large table and a TV set, a well-equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a small backyard veranda where you can sit and drink and chat outside. The rooms are spacey and furnished efficiently and with good taste. Included in my arrangement was also a voucher for breakfast in a nearby café, a very nice coffeeshop indeed, with very friendly staff and great croissants and pastries. I loved it. I enjoyed my stay at Mario's Place, but I have one restriction: My only complaint is due to the fact that rooms 1 & 2 are facing the main street, a noisy street where hundreds of busses pass and also lots of trucks. Due to a respiratory problem, I need to sleep with open windows, and as I had drawn room no. 1, this meant that I had busses and trucks almost inside my room all night. I contacted Mario and tried to change to another room, but since this wasn't possible, I had to cope with the street noise. It might be a good idea to inform people beforehand that rooms 1 & 2 should only be booked by people who have lesser problems with street noise. Apart from this complaint, I really enjoyed my stay. If I drew one of rooms 3 to 5 next time, I would consider returning for another try. Thank you, Mario!

  Comments: While we never met Mario, his place is incredible and highly recommended to stay at. My girlfriend and I were in town for a night to see the football match at the Estadio do Dragoa and felt right at home. It's right next to the Bolhao metro station, a stones throw from the downtown, and not terribly far from the river. The bathroom was nice with everything laid out for us, and the room was perfect. Also, the complementary breakfast nearby is a must. Highly recommend staying here!

  Comments: Mario ist ein toller und sehr hilfsbereiter Host. Er hat sich rührend um uns gekümmert und uns untersützt, da wir Probleme hatten mit unserem verloren gegangen Gepäck. Die Wohnung sieht genau so aus wie auf den Bildern, ist sehr sauber und sehr gemütlich. Leider konnten wir nur eine Nacht bleiben, da alle weiteren Tage ausgebucht waren. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. Danke Mario!

  Comments: Pasamos cuatro días muy agradables en Oporto. El apartamento de Mario está en pleno centro histórico de la ciudad y muy cerca del metro, por lo que la localización es inmejorable. Es luminoso y con todas las comodidades. Además Mario ha desarrollado una aplicación móvil en la que te recomienda rutas, los lugares que no puedes dejar de visitar y lo que a mi parecer más le puede interesar a los viajeros, los lugares donde comer y no pecar de turista. Muy recomendable.

  Comments: Tolle Wohnung, in der man sich wohlfühlen kann! Wunderschön, wie auf den Bildern und sehr sauber. Von den Mitbewohnern haben wir kaum etwas mitbekommen. Wir haben das Zimmer Nr. 1 bewohnt, das zur Straße liegt, die leider auch nachts ziemlich laut war, mit geschlossenen Fenstern war die Lautstärke aber aushaltbar. Die Terrasse ist ein Traum - ruhig, sonnig, einfach schön! Alles war zu Fuß gut erreichen - Supermärkte, Restaurants, Stadtzentrum. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

  Comments: Mario is a great host. if you are looking for a real b&b experience this is not the place. it's more a hotel than a b&b, because there are five rooms and the host doesn't sleep at the place. but the instructions to the room was very clear and the total experience was great. the room, the sheets, the towels, the bathroom could be a little bit cleaner. the common rooms were clean and nice.

  Comments: Its a central location in Porto, close to one of the main shopping streets, most of the inner city is accessible from here. The street it's on is busy during the day, but ok at night. It isn't the most charming accommodation in Porto, but it's more or less worth its price.

  Comments: Mario was really fast in answering our questions and it was really good for us that the door can opened by code so check-in is everytime possible. He organized a taxi to airport for us at 4am and was really kind at all. Room Number 1 was perfect, clean and the two bathrooms were totally enough for the different people in the flat. The flat is really central, maybe a little loud but yeah - it is a flat in the middle of the city thats normal. The App of Mario is perfect to discover the city and we had a really good time there. Thanks a lot Mario, hope we can come to porto soon!!

  Comments: God og hurtig kommunikation fra værtens side. Værelset var fint, rent og pænt. Boligen lå godt - tæt på centrum og 2 minutters gang fra "hovedstrøget" og Metro. Hele forløbet gik nemt og smertefrit. Eneste ulempe var larmen fra morgentrafikken på den gade som værelset lå lige ud til. Det kunne dog fikses med ørepropper :)

Spoke with Mario just on the phone he seemed like a great person, provided a lot of detail with regards surrounding area with an app he's created! Made it clear he was available for anything we needed. Only downside was we didn't realise it was a room among four other airbnb rooms, sharing at the same time, so more like a hostel feel. But value for money, can't complain.

E a cama do quarto número 2 deixava um pouco a desejar, ficamos com dor nas costas o dia inteiro :( Mas o ambiente é bem bacana, wifi bom e o anfitrião disponibiliza um app com dicas da cidade, muito legal! No fim das contas, recomendamos!

The apartment offers five rooms and two bathrooms with access to a common kitchen and beautiful terrasse, so it is much like a hostel. We never met Mario so you need to be able to manuever your way through your arrival and departure if necessary. Room No. 1 offers a comfy bed and bedding, but it requires ear plugs too.

If you don’t exactly know what you wanna see, you can always use an App made by him, which includes sightseeing routes, main monuments, restaurants and bars. Towels are provided, wifi works nice, you get own key to your room. At night room can be a little bit cold because of small heater and big space but depends on person and current season. Apartment is located close to city center and also near to metro and bus stops. Kitchen with all staff and washing machine, nice bathroom. Communication with Mario is very good and he will answer your questions fast. I recommend this place for staying and enjoying Porto and recommend Mario as a host.

Mario è stato molto disponibile nel darci tutte le informazioni necessarie per arrivare al suo appartamento e poi ci ha fornito una mappa e la sua app per visitare la città. La Camera era pulita e ordinata ma purtroppo alcune cose erano rotte. Nel complesso però abbiamo riposato bene e la camera era molto calda. I due bagni erano ordinati anche se non troppo puliti al nostro rientro alla sera, probabilmente per colpa degli altri inquilini. Alcune ore prima del check out hanno iniziato a fare le pulizie, svegliandoci. Nonostante queste piccole pecche consiglio la casa di Mario, sia per l'ottima posizione che per la disponibilità dell'host.

There are five rooms he rents out with two bathrooms that each have a sink, toilet and shower, and a small bathroom with toilet on the terrace. When I stayed, four rooms were occupied and it was comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showering and everyone respected the quiet rule. The sitting area has a couch along with a kitchen table for 6 or so. It was a bit rainy and chilly, but the apartment was comfortable as there are heaters. Great location for walking g around. Definetly would stay again.

  Comments: Honestly we choose to rent a room instead of the entire place to interact with people, but everyone was just locked in his room. Our room was clean, but poor installed. No wardrobe or support for clothes if you are planning long stay. Also out window had an access to the main street with all it's sounds. I would pay more attention on the carpet cleaning in the bath or change them for plastic ones, easirer to wash. By location the place is good and Mario was very fast responding our messages.

Benim gibi uykusu hassas olanların mutlaka yanlarında balmumu tarzı kulak tıkaçlarını getirmelerini tavsiye ederim. Ev sahibini hiç görmedim, ama bu çok da önemli değil. Şaşırtıcı olan güzel bir şey vardı o da; eve çok yakın ( 2 dakika yürüyüş mesafesinde ) bir kahvaltı mekanında ücretsiz kahvaltı alabiliyor olmanız. Örneğin ben laktoz ve gluten içerikli yiyemediğim için salamlı çırpılmış omlet sipariş edebildim. Süper de lezzetliydi. Yanında taze sıkılmış portak suyu da ikramdı ( normalde ücretli ), bir de espresso aldım. Hiçbir ücret ödemedim. Erkek arkadaşım ful kahvaltı yedi, ekmeği tereyağı salam, marmelat vs. Sadece portakal suyu yerine limonata aldı (ücretsiz ). Özetle kahvaltı opsiyonlu bir yer olması ve bunun ücretsiz olması çok güzel. Evin konumu merkezi bir yerde, hemen yakınında bir alışveriş merkezi ve çevrede alışveriş sokakları var. Restoranlar da oldukça (Website hidden by Airbnb) arabayla gelmemize rağmen heryeri yürüyerek gezdik. Çok pimpirikliyseniz yanınıza evden bir yastık kılıfı getirebilirsiniz :)

  Comments: I was only there for one night, but except for some street noise in room 1, which was easily resolved in me changing into a vacant single bed room, it was a fairly pleasant stay. By the way for those who travel by car: There is free all day street parking on R. Moreira corner R. Alegria, otherwise it's paid in car parks or 4h max on the street (but free between 19:00-9:00).   Comments: This place is very central. You can hear the traffic a bit, but after 11 p.m. there isn't that much traffic anymore, so it didn't really bother us. We had our own room which was very nice. I also really liked the balcony. Furthermore, everything was clean. As there are 5 more rooms you may not get into the bathrooms whenever you want to, but we never waited longer than 10 minutes. Moreover, the apartment is very near two shopping centres and the Balhao Metro station which takes you practically everywhere in Porto! In total, we had really good days in this flat and a very pleasant stay in Porto!

Molto carine tutte le indicazioni all interno della struttura, si vede che Mario ci tiene molto, anche la stanza carina e pulita. Unici appunti: il bagno era un po' sporco, forse dovuto alla sporcizia degli altri inquilini, e la colazione dove siamo andati non era male ma sicuramente non ne vale la pena perché ti portano pane, formaggio, marmellate e due bevande, niente di tipico o di dolce.

  Comments: Great location close to many restaurants and shopping. There are stairs necessary to reach the apartment, which can be difficult to navigate if you struggle with luggage, however the room is worth it! I appreciate the extra blanket due to the colder weather as well! Also, Mario has developed a wonderful phone app to help you navigate around the sights in Porto and I recommend it! :)

  Comments: Mario's place is in a perfect location, and the flat has 5 separate bedrooms. The room was spacious, and the bed and linens were very comfortable. Clean bathrooms, a nice kitchen, and a comfortable common area. I wasn't able to meet Mario, but he was very helpful and provided me with a local map. Would absolutely stay there again if I'm in Porto.
