  Comments: Mert and Gökçe are really friendly people!! They were always available to help us and advise about the city, they met us very late on the first night and they arranged the taxi to the airport too. They even took us on a tour!!! to the Asian side showing us some of their favourite places. We really enjoyed our stay there and Mert and Gökçe are fantastic hosts. This review is for the "Mayata Apart-Flat#2" which was not yet advertised on Airbnb as the others were not available. The flat is big and really nice, all new and clean with separate kitchen and living area and a small balcony. It is in a traditional style building that Mert and Gökçe are renovating and where there are only three other apartments that they rent. The area is safe as you can find a Police station meters away from the building and it is possible to walk to the Galata Tower and Istiklal Street in just a few minutes. There is also a metro station (Sishane) just five minutes walking from the building. Really recommended, you'll have a great time! :)

  Comments: It was really great to meet Mert and Gökçe! They were were very friendly with us and helped to find the way to all places that we wanted. Their flat is situated on the safe place near the police station. It was very clean and comfortable there. I decided to stay at their apartment next time when I go to Istanbul.   Comments: Mert and his wife were more than helpful. They were very welcoming and immediately showed us where to go and where to take the metro. We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable, cute place to stay. It was very safe and a perfect location. Next time we go back to istanbul we will definitely contact them.   Comments: It was the first time I used airbnb when booking Mert and Gökçe's place and I must admit I was very happy. The flat was very clean, comfortable and functional, newly restored and furnished as well. Additionally It was very close to the metro station (4 mins walking), to the Galata area and Istiklal where there are many shops, bars, restaurants etc. but the neighborhood is at a very calm spot, which is a great combination. Not only that, Mert and Gökçe are two wonderful people as well as hosts. They waited for us, even though we arrived late at night, so that they could welcome us and showed us around to the neighborhood. They provided us with a map of the area and a metro card, they even booked us a taxi at the day of our departure and they are at all times available when we needed information on the city. Last but not least they were great company - we had such a lovely time going out with them! I highly recommend their place for the hospitality and the comfort and wish them all the best.

  Comments: We had a wonderful stay, the room was clean and modern with everything we needed provided (towels, cooking equipment, hairdryer etc.). The location was a 5 min walk from restaurants, bars and public transport - very convenient! Mert and his wife were super helpful and called taxi's for us - they were on call 24 hours which is wonderful for peace of mind. Perfect place to stay for a winter weekend city break with lovely hosts.

  Comments: Mert was very helpful - provided a route, which was helpful because Istanbul is a maze. Would be great if he send beforehand a map of the exact location too - the one in Airbnb I found not clear enough for use given Istanbuls complex street map. He stayed in touch and was easy available for anything we would further need. The place is new, very clean, good atmosphere and the bed is great. Kitchen had only the basics. We had a great stay and can most definitely recommend both the renter as the place. Only not for people who aren't fit to walk - the neighbourhood is very hilly, and the particular street is a steep stairwell! The location in general we found as excellent; felt at home in a rustique area, combined with only a short 5 minutes from the main shopping area heading to Taksim / amazing load of restaurants / pubs within easy reach.

  Comments: The apartment was extremely clean, cozy and well-situated. It is exactly as described and while being there it gives you the impression for a real home. Not to mention that it is located in a perfect area from where you can easily reach one of the most remarkable spots in the city.   Comments: My fiancé and I spent 11 nights at Mert's place. First of all Mert and his wife both welcomed us with a smile and very informative conversation like the closest subway station and the distance to the attractions of Istanbul. Apart of the fact that Mert and Gökce were very friendly people, the apartment is located in the heart of Istanbul. You can literally walk to Taksim, Galata Tower and also to the Galata bridge. The subway station Sisli is the main line which takes you to the best shopping malls such as Cevahir, Kanyon, Istinye Park and many more. The neighborhood is very authentic with local people. You really feel like you are a part of the city. It was very cold in Istanbul during our stay but Mert did everything so we feel comfortable and warm. He even bought a new heater and new blankets so that we are not cold and the apartment was warm even though the weather in Istanbul was about -6 degrees. All in all I would highly recommend to rent this apartment!!! Thank you Mert and Gökce for everything! You guys are great hosts.

  Comments: Mert stand jederzeit für Rückfragen zu Verfügung (hat immer innerhalb von 5 Minuten geantwortet), hat uns zuverlässig am Bahnhof abgeholt, uns sogar herumgeführt und uns alles wichtige gesagt und gezeigt. Das war wirklich super. Die Beschreibung der Wohnung war zutreffend und detailliert. Die Nachbarschaft ist nicht besonders schön, aber man fühlt sich sicher und kommt überall zu Fuß hin.

  Comments: This was my 2nd Airbnb experience and it was another good one. Mert got in touch right away and was very helpful throughout - giving cab driver directions from airport. When we arrived, he took us for a little walk around to give us some bearings which was really nice of him. The location of this place is great. It's nice and cosy and everything in working order. It's not someone's home if that's the vibe you're going for and if you want to cook there's only a hob and microwave - we were sampling the Turkish cuisine so wasn't a problem for us. So overall, it's a good little place, everything works (TV, Wifi), quiet and great location for Beyoglu and Taksim square. Recommend a walk to Galata tower for Menemen breakfast in the sunshine. Enjoy

  Comments: We stayed at Mert's Perayata Flat for a week visit to Istanbul. Everything was perfect -- Mert was so helpful in answering questions before we left on our trip, he arranged a car hire for us to and from the airport, he even walked around the neighborhood with us when we arrived to make sure we had our bearings. The apartment is great and exactly as pictured. We loved being in a residential area away from large crowds of tourists but also very centrally located. Very safe, nice area near an elementary school and a great little cafe around the corner, "La Perla Cafe" -- go there for a cup of tea, the owner is wonderful! In addition to being clean, the apartment was nicely heated and had everything we needed. The building felt secure and quiet as well. Mert was very friendly and incredibly responsive whenever we had a question. We couldn't recommend this rental more! Thank you Mert!

  Comments: Mert was incredibly hospitable and helped us to arrive from the airport to his apartment. He then personally showed us around the neighborhood and always made himself available for help and suggestions. He even booked us out early morning taxi to the airport upon leaving Istanbul. Wir haben uns Istanbul 3 Tage angschaut und dafür ist das Apartement perfekt gelegen. 5 Minuten vom Zentrum zu Fuß entfernt und für die Nacht total ruhig. Mert hat uns sehr nett empfangen und zeigte uns bei einem kleinen Rundmarsch die Umgebung. Das Bett und die Zudecke waren optimal. The appartement was peaceful, newly renovated and near the place to visit and get out at night. We had a perfect stay!   Comments: Mert is a great host! Even before arriving he was very responsive and explained us the best way to get to the apartment from the city. Upon picking us up from the metro stop he walked us through the neighbourhood and gave us great tips. I could always write to him while we were exploring the city in case of any questions.   Comments: We rented the appartment for a 3 nights. The appartment was nice and clean (exactly like the photos). There is airconditioning in the bedroom, which was very useful. It's a rather quiet street, but still close to nice restaurants and cafés and you can easily reach the touristic sighs by tram. Mert and Ozan took good care of us during our stay and were very helpful. If you are going to stay here, it's advisable to mark the exact location of the appartment by gps in your phone. All the streets look alike in this area and it took us a while to find back the appartment the first day by using the tourist map only.

  Comments: The flat was exactly as listed on the site, light and cozy. The location is absolutely perfect -- a walking distance from the busy main walking street with a lot of shops, bars and cafes, as well as to the river and the Galata bridge, from where you can walk into the old City or take a tram to the Blue Mosque and the Palace. Yet, the location was very quiet and allowed for a good night sleep. Mert was very welcoming and helpful: he explained how to travel from the airport and met us at the subway station, showed us around the neighborhood and even helped with a reservation of a restaurant we wanted to visit. If you're coming to Istanbul, it's hard to find a better location. Highly recommended!

  Comments: It was a pleasure to stay a Mert's flat. The flat was super clean and it is located in a safe neighborhood. It is a family neighborhood. The metro station is a block away. From the flat you can walk to Istiklal Avenue in few minutes where you can find hundreds of restaurants and shops. Our host, Mert, made our stay a great experience. He helped with information on how to go around the city. He got us taxis when needed and answer multiple questions that we has. If you are going to Istanbul I highly recommend Mert's place to stay.

  Comments: Istanbul is a fantastic and historical city. Most of the time you are going to be out. Probably all day, when you do come home at night, you want a nice, comfortable and quiet place. This is the place. When we arrived, Mert arranged for transportation for us from the airport. The apartment is located near a police station (very safe) and near the Metro (very convenient). The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated. There was a television, very good wifi services and all the basics you will need including a steam iron. The building also has a community washer which is highly efficient (we suggest using the quick cycle). After we got settled in, Mert and his wife walked us around the area for about 30 minutes. Showing us where to catch the train, where to eat (traditional) Turkish food and showed us Taksim square an outdoor wonderland. While we were there, he was always a (Hidden by Airbnb) message away and responded quickly. This is how good he is, one night, my husband had an issue with a crooked cab driver. Mert showed up within 10 minutes to make sure we were all ok. When you stay here you feel like you are part of the community. The neighbors are very friendly and warm. If you want an authentic Istanbul experience, this is the place to stay. Side note: we recommend that you do not take a taxis and take the metro or tram. If you want a taxis just ask Mert to arrange it.

  Comments: Had a wonderful stay in Mert's flat. It's very close to the Sishane metro station which is accessible with a transfer from the airport. Mert was kind enough to meet us at the station and walk us to the flat. He also provided great recommendations for food and sites to see. His cousin showed us around the flat and Istiklal street to get us oriented. Onut was great and personable. Mert was easy to reach and responded to our questions very promptly. The flat itself is comfortable and clean. Laundry, wifi, and a/c were all super. I'd definitely recommend his flat.

  Comments: Highly recommended! A great place to stay to explore the incredible city that Istanbul is! Mert is an excellent, organised and kind host. Welcoming us after a delayed plane arrival at the Sishane train station, just a few mins walk from the apartment. Mert generously offered to show us around the local spots, speaks very good English and made us feel at ease straight away. He also gave us some great restaurant tips and a handy 7 day guide to Istanbul! Everything is closeby including great food, cafes, bars and architecture all hugging the cobblestoned streets. Its a downhill walk to the bridge across to Sultanahmet for all the amazing old city sights. Catching the tram to/from Karakoy worked really well, and then the Tunel cable car back up the hill. The apartment is in a quiet residential area. It's clean, tidy and the air conditioning in the bedroom was great during the Summer heat. There is also a handy washer on the ground floor.

  Comments: We spent an amazing week in Istanbul and staying at Mert's apartment made us feel right at home. Before our arrival, Mert answered all my messages within no time and arranged four us to be picked up at the airport. We were met by his cousin at the apartment who was very nice and welcoming and showed us around the neighbourhood and Istiklal Street and recommended a bunch of places for us to go for food and drinks. The apartment is as advertised, very clean and convenient and a good size for two people. The house is in a very quiet, safe and nice neighbourhood with friendly neighbours and small shops, cafes, bakery and a supermarket only a few minutes away. Mert immediately offered his support when he heard that my partner was sick and arranged a taxi for us back to the airport for a very good price. Overall it was a very good experience and I will definetely stay in one of Merts apartments again when I get back to Istanbul some day.

Mert, was accessible via email and text before and after we arrived to Istanbul and made sure to give us a nice long tour of the neighborhood and Istiklal Avenue (Famous Avenue) in Istanbul. The Apartment is very conveniently located near the Sishane metro stop, walking distance to the New District (Taksim Square), and 15-20 min walking distance to the Old Town over the Galata bridge. Overall in great neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Highly recommended!

Además de ser especialmente luminoso, dispone de todos los servicios que uno podría necesitar (calefacción, aire acondicionado, toallas y ropa de cama, secador de pelo, plancha, microondas, cocina eléctrica, kettle, vajilla, batería de cocina, televisión, ... El apartamento está muy próximo a Refik Saydam Cd., y se puede llegar andando a la Istiklal Cd. en menos de 10 minutos. El anfitrión ha estado muy atento y ha sido muy servicial.   Comments: Mert and his cousin, Ozan, were excellent hosts. Ozan met us from the Metro station, showed us to the apartment, and then gave us a quick tour of the local area to help us orientate ourselves. This saved us a lot of time and potential stress, when arriving at night, hungry, and with a 7 month old baby. Mert also kept in contact throughout our stay (via AirBnB, text message and (Hidden by Airbnb) ), to make sure we had everything we needed. The apartment building is in a quiet street, only a short walk from a buzzing and lively area with lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. The Sishane Metro station (Kasimpasa exit) is only 5 minutes walk away. Overall, the location is ideal - easy to walk to Galata, Karakoy, Cihangir, Taksim, etc. The apartment itself is simply designed and spacious enough for us as a couple and our baby. The bed was large and comfortable, and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. The apartment was also clean. The wifi connection was good. The kitchen is not especially well equipped, but with such tasty and affordable food options nearby, you would be unlikely to do much cooking. There are also a few small shops nearby for snacks and breakfast supplies. This was our first time using Airbnb, and we were really pleased with the experience.

  Comments: The apartment was great and the hospitality and service provided by Mert and Ozan are just incredible. The place is super clean, comfortable, in a quiet area. WiFi worked perfect. The Sishane metro station is just a few blocks from the apartment as well as "Istiklal Caddesi" street which has an incredible night life, or you can also reach the "Tunel" tramway to "Karakoy" pier. I had an excellent stay at Mert's place. I recommend this apartment 100%, you won't be disappointed. Thank you again Ozan & Mert for eveything!

  Comments: Reviews and photos are accurate I would only add we made breakfasts and some dinners in the kitchen just fine and the comments about the climb, well that's Istanbul! Could have used a secondary light in bedroom. Mert was one of the most welcoming and available host of our 4 month journey of Europe.   Comments: Mert was a fantastic host - extremely responsive and helpful. Our first day of arrival, he not only provided awesome local attractions and food recommendations, but he also took us on a walking tour of Istanbul. Even when we had some minor difficulties working the air conditioning in the middle of the night (after 11PM) he offered to come by and help us with it. As for the apartment, it is ideally situated between the Old Town and main night life/restaurant area so each are accessible by foot in 5-10 minutes. The apartment was very clean and well-equipped. I would highly recommend you stay there on your next trip to Istanbul!

  Comments: Mert was absolutely welcoming and very quick to respond to my questions about Istanbul, as it was my first time in the city and I traveled alone. He sent me recommendations on where to visit and where to eat/drink, as the apartment is only a few streets away from nightlife and the Sisane Metro station. He went up and beyond to communicate with my taxi driver, helped me get oriented, and explained all the routes from the apartment to the Metro and the famous Istikal Avenue. He made himself available both over (Hidden by Airbnb) and in person, he has been a wonderful example of a thoughtful, helpful host. The apartment itself is exactly like in the pictures, renovated and clean. It can get a little noisy at night with all the cats and seagulls in the area, and the school nearby but overall I have had an enjoyable stay. The only other note is that Istanbul is quite hilly, and this apartment is right on the side of a very steep one, so I would not recommend this apartment for guests with physical disabilities. Otherwise, it has been great, thank you Mert!

  Comments: Istanbul is not the US or even western Europe. There are some things that might be easy to fuss about. There's a bright street light outside the window, little sound-proofing, ants, and lots of hills to and from the metro. But ignore all of that. This place is clean, modern, and nice. The hills get rough after a week, but the location is very convenient and quiet. But Mert is fantastic and will stay in constant touch with you throughout your stay to make sure you have everything you need. Our luggage was delayed 2 days and Mert handled it all for us to make sure we got it as soon as possible. We needed taxi rides to and from the airport and Mert handled that for us as well. There's a great ease that comes from having someone do this kind of work for you.

  Comments: Our experience at Merts apartment was perfect! He was fantastic at communicating prior to our trip, being very patient answering all my questions and sending us lots of tips. Our flight was delayed by several hours and despite this, Merts friend greeted us straight from our taxi and showed us to the apartment. The apartment is beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos - spacious, modern, light and very clean, amazing value for money! Merts tips were great. One of the restaurants he recommended was delicious and became our local! The apartment was in a great location being in its own little local neighbourhood and only 5-10 min walk from the hustle and bustle of Begolou's bars and restaurants.   Comments: We had an amazing stay in Mert’s apartment. He was incredibly helpful and welcoming! He helped us arrange a car to take us right there from the airport and he even took the time to show us around the neighbourhood so we won’t feel lost. The apartment itself was really nice, has lots of natural light, it was perfectly clean and had lots of kitchen appliances. It is located in a quiet little street, really close to Sishane metro station, Istiklal street and the Galata tower – however get ready that you’ll have to walk uphills to get there from the apartment. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back again – thank for everything, Mert!

  Comments: *Please read: how to deal with issues with an Airbnb stay." We had to change our dates last minute because of the recent turmoil and events in Istanbul. Mert is a nice host who accommodated the date change request and spent time with us over tea showing us how to get around the city. However we had the unfortunate situation that the city was working on the water lines. Mert let us know there was no running water in the unit when we checked in(not before). At first, we were not concerned since Mert told us it should be on that evening. We went about our day sightseeing and at dinner, we sent a note asking him if it was on. He said no. It was too late so we bought some bottled water to brush our teeth and wash our face. But the water still did not come on in the morning. After a night of not being able to use the toilet and needing to shower, we contacted Mert several times to figure out what to do. After not hearing back from Mert, we decided to check out and find a hotel at 11am. I waited until I returned home to the states to try to resolve our stay with Mert directly before going to Airbnb but sadly, he did want to refund any money believing it was not his fault. I am disappointed because it is not unreasonable to expect the basic need of running water for an Airbnb stay. My recommendation is to always let Airbnb know immediately of any issue so they can get involved with the host and you are not left trying to figure out what to do on your own, especially in a country you do not speak the language. Also, you can request to cancel during your stay and Airbnb will provide you a number to call to get help instead of sending an email. I have traveled the world using Aurbnb but unfortunately it was the first time for my friend and this experience was so horrible, she will never do it again.

  Comments: Amazing host and great apartment. This apartment made my life easier The apartment is as on the picture, nice, clean and spacious (for a small apartment). It's close to the metro station( Sishane, one station from Taksim aka the center), even if you have to climb one street. You have most of thing you need for everyday life. And if you miss something just ask Mert. He's incredibly available, helpful and kind. Bonus there is even a cleaning lady who does an amazing work :)

  Comments: Mert war ein sehr bemühter Gastgeber und immer sofort zur Stelle, wenn wir eine Auskunft brauchten bzw. wenn es galt kleine Probleme zu lösen. Die Wohnung entsprach voll der Beschreibung und war warm, sehr sauber und gemütlich. Das Viertel war sehr zentral gelegen - in maximal 10 Minuten war man in der Istilklal Caddesi, einer der zentralen Einkaufstraßen der Stadt. Ganz in der Nähe befand sich auch eine Metrostation: man konnte also bequem zu Fuß, aber auch mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln die Stadt erkunden. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe des Hauses gab es nicht so viele, aber es gab einige Minimarkets, in denen man sich mit dem Nötigsten (z.B. fürs Frühstück) bis spät abends versorgen konnte. Noch ein Tipp für deutschsprachige Istambulbesucher: wenn man von der Wohnung aus in die Istiklal Caddesi kommt, so sieht man auf der gegenüber gelegenen Seite (leicht rechts) die deutsch - türkische Buchhandlung: dort gibt es auch ein Café, das sehr gemütlich und warm ist - vor allem empfehlenswert in der kalten Jahreszeit ;-)

  Comments: Само по себе жилье не плохое, очень чисто и аккуратно, однако, квартирой это назвать нельзя, это именно отель и номер с неполноценной кухней. Была проблема по прибытию - хозяин не отвечал на сообщения и звонки, конкретный вход в отель удалось найти с помочью местных жителей. Кроме того, впоследствии общались с хозяином только по (Hidden by Airbnb) , видимо по причине экономии со стороны хозяина. В самом же отеле общение происходит с домработницей (домоправительницей). В спальне очень удобная кровать, шкаф для вещей гостей, неплохой кондиционер. Общая комната, объединённая с кухней, тоже достаточно уютная, но на кухне только раковина, одна электрическая плитка и холодильник. Кроме того на кухне, по пути в ванную, имеется порожек на котором можно споткнуться. Ванная комнатная не плохая и есть все, что нужно, однако, присутствует запах канализации, который иногда расходится по всей квартире. Одним из больших минусов было присутствие не малого количество муравьев, что доставляло ряд неудобств. По всей видимости, хозяева знают о проблеме и в один из дней нам (как это и бывает в отелях) была предложена бесплатная уборка нашего номера-квартиры. От этого предложения мы отказались, тем не менее, на следующий день в наше отсутствие эта уборка была проведена, в том числе была предпринята попытка скрыто замазать места откуда лезут муравьи - не удачно. Помимо этого, от замазки остался неприятный запах. Сама уборка, опять же, была проведена очень хорошо, но были передвинуты наши вещи, выброшено то, что возможно можно было посчитать "мусором", но мы хотели оставить на память. Стиральная машина стоит внизу, в общем пользовании и постоянно была заняты - стирать приходилось поздним вечером и ночью. Качество и скорость стирки не хорошие (часто нужно спускаться и проверять процесс стирки, проблемы с открытием дверцы). Расположение жилья не плохое, есть где погулять и не очень далеко от метро. Сам дом старый, окружён небольшими улочками и домами "окна в окна". En soi, la location n’est pas mal, très propre et bien rangée, mais ne peut pas être appelée un appartement, c'est un hôtel et la cuisine est rudimentaire. Il y avait un problème à l'arrivée - le propriétaire n'a pas répondu aux messages et appels téléphoniques, nous n’avons trouvé qu’avec l'aide de la population locale. En outre, nous n’avons par la suite communiqué avec le propriétaire que par (Hidden by Airbnb) , probablement par souci d’économie de sa part. Dans l'hôtel même, la communication se fait avec la concierge. La chambre a un lit très confortable, une armoire pour les affaires des visiteurs, bonne climatisation. Le salon combiné à la cuisine est également agréable, mais la cuisine est seulement équipée d’une plaque et d’un réfrigérateur. De plus, dans la cuisine, pour aller dans la salle de bain, il y a une marche sur laquelle on peut trébucher. La salle de bains est bien et il y a tout le nécessaire, cependant, les canalisations sentent, ce qui se propage parfois dans tout l'appartement. L'un des grands inconvénients était la présence d'un nombre non négligeable de fourmis, qui a donné un certain nombre de problèmes. Located within close proximity to public transport and istiklal street, however its a hilly journey to Taksim and the flat is located at the bottom of steps. The street is not the cleanliest, but seems very safe. There is a number of food grocery shops and a bakery within walking distance.

  Comments: The apartment is in a great location, close to a metro and bus stations and in walking distance from many attractions. It is surrounded by steep hills, which is normal to find in Istanbul, so keep that in mind if facing physical issues, but it's easy to get used to otherwise. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The bedroom has an air conditioner which is key during humid Istanbul summer. Mert was great at communicating and was very fast at replying to any questions or concerns, he will go out of his way to make sure you are taken care of! Would definitely recommend.

  Comments: We’ve spent a great time in this appartment and in Istanbul! It’s really easy and comfort to get into appartment from airport and city center. Mert gave us detailed instructions, met us and helped with our luggage. Also he provided a lots advises regarding places and restaurants to visit. He was on-line everytime we need a support. The location and the surroundings are really terrific. Buildings, lots of cats on the way, just a few steps from Galata, metrostaion, bars♣, historical places. The near transport system is well-organized and very convenient. There were a several shops nearby opened until lately evening. Small problems were with the unreliable internet connection and lively street: starting from buliding work in the morning and chatting people or TV several nights. So, as I sleep feely I used earplugs several times. Also some spaces in appartment are not perfectly clean. But we found it as a nice place for a few days in Istanbul for a young couple.

  Comments: Stayed almost a week in this flat. The flat is located near Sishane metro station not one that near Istikla Street but near Kasimpasa. It is more like residential area, so it was very quite. Metro station was very closes from the flat but there was stiff hill (but doable). The host, Mert, responded to my message very quick and he tried to help me a lot in many ways. Highly recommend this flat!
