Neighborhood Overview: This apt was made with a lot of Love and has lots of Love in it. Clinton Hill is also one of the best neighborhoods around not only in Brooklyn but in all of New York City. This is a special and wonderful area. Historic and beautiful. Clinton Hill is a landmark area with original brownstones and pre war buildings and the loveliest of people. Dotted with numerous great restaurants and cafés. Lots of Bars, gardens, beautiful tree lined and brownstone streets to explore and walk around in. Awesome brunch spots, locally sourced food markets, a coop and excellent zagat rated restaurants steps away. Quiet, very safe and friendly neighborhood. C train is blocks away, a really great and convenient line, ideal for all locations and hopping around in the city. Welcome!
Notes: This is an original apt in a true pre-war Brooklyn building they don't make them like this anymore unfortunately so you'll have real beautiful hardwood floors and high ceilings with original details and solid walls with lots of light and space, these kinds of places can and do come with some light wear and tear of course but that's what gives it its charm, so if you're looking for a cookie cutter brand spanking new squeaky clean condo like space this is not the place for you :)
Transit: C train. Franklin stop. G train. Classon stop. Buses B52 B38 The C stops at Fulton near Wall st, Chambers, West 4th, West Village, SOHO, Meatpacking District, Chelsea, Penn Station, 42nd st Times Sq, Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center, Upper West Side Natural Museum of History. And transfers to all East side trains are at every stop almost and very convenient to connect to. The light green G train on Classon is perfect for exploring L.I.C Queens, Williamsburg, Park Slope, Prospect Park, Fort Greene, Gowanus, Cobble Hill and all things Brooklyn and LIC :) It helps to have the seamless App on your phone if you want to order any kind of food in the area, LOTS OF OPTIONS! -Favorite places around the neighborhood Restaurants Locanda Vini e Olii 129 Gates Av Amazing super cozy zagat rated authentic Italian in an old drug store. Literally down the street make a right out of the building and walk a few blocks on Gates. Speedy Romeo 376 Classon Av Great pizzas, brunch and salads. Drinks
Access: Entire home
Interaction: I'll usually be around to make sure you settle in nicely and greet you :) if not I have simple instructions for a lockbox with keys in the building for self check in.
House Rules: Just leave it as tidy as you can when you check out, respect everything around and please return items to their places if removed or changed. Personal storage closets are of course off limits so thank you for respecting that :) This is a non smoking apartment. Thank you kindly!

Comments: Ala's apartment is a cosy place and a perfect retreat after exhausting days of sightseeing in NY. The flat is spacious, light, clean and lovely furnished with a lot of sense for details; right as you can see it in the pictures. It is located between 2 metro routes with easy access to other parts of Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Manhattan. Ala was a great host, very helpful and accomodating. She provided us with a lot of information and made our first airbnb experience a very good one! Thanks for all, Ala!

Comments: Assia was a perfect host, and her Brooklyn apartment could not have been in a better location. It was quaint and had all the necessities to make you feel right at home. She responded immediately to our questions via text, and provided us with suggestions when asked. We arrived fairly late from JFK, and she was patient and more than happy to wait for us to arrive. Upon meeting her, she provided us with a list of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. The neighborhood was safe, and we had no problem walking the neighborhood even at two in the morning. Above all, she was unbelievably accommodating. She let us check-out late so we didn't have to carry our bags around with us during our last day in town. We cannot thank her enough, and we would without a doubt stay with her again in the future.

Comments: Everything was great. Easy to communicate with Ala, quick response time, generous with her place, the apartment was big and comfortable, altogether a lucky find for us since it was less than 5 minutes walk from our daughter's apartment in Brooklyn which was the most important thing for us.

Comments: Ala's apartment was very clean and a nice place to stay for a long weekend. She was a good communicator and met us to give us the keys and a quick overview of the (Website hidden by Airbnb) neighborhood was unique, like every Brooklyn neighborhood. Her list of "go to" places was helpful and we enjoyed walking around the area and seeing all the historic brownstones and old commercial buildings.

Comments: Ala was a great host! She was there to greet us and give us the key and show us around her apartment. Her apartment was perfect - close to C train that took us right into Manhattan and it was comfortable, quiet, and a home away from home. She left us with some local recommendations which were all wonderful. We had a great time and I'd definitely recommend staying here. :)

Comments: Ala is very friendly and outgoing. She was willing to let me check-in early which helped with my schedule. Ala gave me a quick tour of the apartment and showed me how things worked. She also provided a list of nearby cafes, restaurants, bars, etc. and I did visit a few of them. The apartment was as described. Charming and nicely decorated with good books, photos, old cameras, a table in the kitchen for morning coffee, even a record player and albums. The large bed was very comfortable and I slept well - which doesn't always happen when I travel. Most of my time was spent away visiting family. I enjoyed having my own space to come back to at night. This is a quiet building, with a handy old-style elevator, in a safe neighborhood. I had a great time staying at Ala's and look forward to staying there again when I return to NYC.

Comments: Ala was a lovely host. She was quick to respond to all inquiries and very easy to work with. She shared tips of places we might like to go and checked on how we were doing. The apartment was nicely decorated, tidy and comfortable, located in a safe residential area, and convenient to the subway. Despite the weather being hot, the air conditioner kept the bedroom cool. We enjoyed staying there.

Comments: I think I made the best choice staying at Ala's place. The area was very nice. I sometimes went out for breakfast to nearby cafes. The decorations and furnitures at her place are cute too. She was so welcoming when I arrived even though there were subway delays and made sure I'm doing ok during my stay. Going back to JFK by subway was easy too! Thank you thank you so much, Ala:)

Check-In und Check-Out völlig problemlos.

Comments: This is a truly great appartment! - very lovely furnished and decorated, comfortable in size, kitchen well equipped, nice and safe neighborhood. Two subway stations near by that will take you everywhere. Ala was very welcoming and gave us a lot of good tips for Restaurants, Bars and Markets in the "Clinton Hill" neighborhood. Sorry again for the four-hour-delay on our flight! We so much appreciated that you were so patient and kind! We would definitely book the appartment again and we highly recommend it!

Comments: Nice, cozy old apartment with lots of natural light and warm hardwood floors. Comfortable bed (and couch!), a great selection of really good books, old records and a turntable, and middle eastern touches throughout make this wonderfully eclectic apartment a great place to stay. It's in a safe building in an equally safe neighborhood, with an easy walk to the subway in almost any direction. Ala was especially kind and flexible with our check-in time when our original plans changed. We will definitely rent this apartment again if we ever again spend extended time in Brooklyn. This was a win-win.

Comments: We stayed for a week in Ala's apartment and it was wonderful. The apartment is very homely and has everything you need. It really is beautiful. The neighbourhood was lovely, we very close to the metro, which is only a few stops to other great neighbourhoods as well as only around 25 minutes to Manhattan. Clinton Hill has lots of great bars and restaurants near the apartment and Ala left us a list of recommendations on our arrival. Getting the key from Ala when we arrived was very straight forward and she was very helpful and got straight back to me with any questions I had throughout the stay. I thoroughly recommend this apartment. We will definitely be back asap.

Comments: I can't recommend this place highly enough. Ala's beautiful apartment was the perfect base in Brooklyn and Ala was a fabulous host, responding quickly to queries and questions we had during our stay. The apartment itself is incredible, full of charm and personality - so much better than a hotel as it makes you feel like you're living the New York life. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer and just spend some time relaxing in this beautiful space. Thanks so much!

Comments: My girlfriend and I stayed at Ala's for 1 month during the winter break and we got so attached to it that leaving it was heartbreaking. The apartment is spacious, well-furnished, and rich of character. Books are plenty. The projector and the turntable are big pluses. In the early morning and late afternoon, the sunlight floods the apartment beautifully. The fire escape sitting spot is lovely. The location is a gem. C n G lines are nearby. Laundromat is opposite. Grocery stores are nearby. Peaceful building and neighborhood. Many restaurants around, especially C'mon Everybody on Franklin which is an amazing little place for live indie music. We miss this place. J&L

Comments: Conveniently placed within walking distance from both the C-line to Manhattan and G-line to Williamsburg, Ala's apartment is spacious and charming. Light flows the entire apartment, and there is plenty of storage space for your luggage. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and there are a few really interesting restaurants nearby - you should really check out Black Swan on Bedford Avenue. We would definitely stay at Ala´s place again!

Comments: Ala was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The apartment was great and situated in an ideal location in Brooklyn. We loved exploring the local area and the subway to Manhattan was really easy. We had to carry our bags around on the last day as we couldn't find anywhere nearby to store them. So my advice would be to bear this in mind when booking flights (which Ala does mention on her page but we clearly didn't pay enough notice of!). x

Comments: We much enjoyed our stay in Ala's spacious light-filled apartment, so conveniently located for buses and subways, and our feet much appreciated an elevator ride at the end of the many miles we walked every day! We slept well in the very comfortable bed and appreciated the relative calm of Gates Avenue. We'll definitely contact Ala again on our next trip to Brooklyn. LB Ducrey

Alas apartment itself is clean and full equipped with kitchenware, towels, two aircons and everything else you need like a flatiron. Even we didn't met Ala personal our contact was very uncomplicated. She left some useful tips for us at the kitchen table and was every time reachable.

Comments: Ala was fantastic with communication from start to end, very easy to deal with and went out of her way to accommodate our needs (let us check out later even though she had other guests arriving) The apartment is cosy and roomy all whilst being in a very central location (buses and subway easily accessible) with everything one could need being a stones throw away. We were fortunate enough to explore some of the suggestions Ala left - cafes, bars, restaurants, and were very impressed. A humble abode in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. I would definitely consider staying here again should I ever be in New York again - thanks Ala!

Comments: Everything about my stay in Ala's apartment was a lovely experience. Her apartment has tons of charm and character, as does the building itself and the neighborhood it is located within. I felt so comfortable and at home in the space that it was difficult to make myself leave the apartment to explore the borough. The apartment is very warm and cozy, and both the bed and the couch are very comfortable. The location of the apartment is very convenient to the subway, and also centrally located within easy walking distance of many excellent neighborhoods. The most enjoyable part of my trip though was spending time in this beautiful apartment, reading a few of the many wonderful books in Ala's collection, and listening to her amazing record collection. She was a very pleasant and inviting host, and was there to meet me when I arrived at the apartment. She was kind enough to allow me a late checkout, and left behind plenty of soft towels and yummy espresso. I would highly recommend this space, and feel very thankful that I was able to spend my Thanksgiving holiday here.

Comments: This was a very cute apartment, I was very pleased when we first arrived and the first night that we stayed there. The hot and cold water was a little sketchy and it was a little dusty but could overlook these as "quirks" or "charm" of an old apartment. On our 4th night out of 6 nights the only A/C unit, which is in the bedroom stopped working. Thankfully, there was a fan, but that was not enough to keep an apartment even slightly cool in July, basically just blew the warm air around. When I communicated this issue to the host that morning, she quickly responded, but we were questioned about how we were using it when we hadn't even touched it and told it "just needed a break" (even though that's not how air conditioning works...) we gave it a chance and kept it off during that day and it of course didn't work and when I told the host it didn't work she responded that she would have someone look at it after our stay. Therefore, we had two more nights of a very hot apartment and uncomfortable sleeping. Location was also a little far from a lot of the attractions of NYC, it is close to the subway but was quite a few stops from a lot of places. Overall, ok but wouldn't stay there again.

Comments: Ala's flat was great in a really nice part of Brooklyn with some cool bars, cafes, and restaurants near by. It was much bigger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. Also, the flat was beautifully decorated that made me and girlfriend feel right at home from the second we entered. It was also spacious, warm, and homely and was near some well connected subway stations which made it a perfect base to explore the neighbourhood and the rest of New York too. Ala was also very accommodating and responsive throughout our stay which helped put us at ease and relax from the get go. I couldn't recommend this flat, or Ala, more!

Comments: My husband and I loved staying in Ala's Brooklyn apartment! The apartment was so spacious and has a cool and unique character. The neighborhood was quiet, and the location is convenient to the G & C trains into Manhattan. Also there are several good eateries and good grocery places within walking distance. Ala left a list of helpful recommendations which was great! We would definitely recommend this for people visiting the area, and would love to stay again!

Comments: Conveniently located to subway and some cozy neighborhood spots. Recommendations for food nearby were excellent. Apartment had an old NY charm and is not updated but has the basics if you’re a low maintenance traveler and need a warm place to stay with a shower and Wifi. Ala was very helpful and responsive with any needs.

Comments: Ala’s place is amazing! Beautiful pre-war building in excellent location - a quick walk to the G (takes you across Brooklyn) and to the A and C (takes you into the city). Dough doughnuts and luigi’s Pizza are both nearby. Because it’s an old apartment there are some quirks, but we enjoyed these, for the most part! The one thing I’d mention is that light sleepers will need a white noise app - the apartment has thin walls and noisy heating. Totally manageable, however! thanks so much for everything, ala!

Comments: I had a wonderful stay at Ala's flat. It's one of the most well decorated airbnb I have stayed in. I think the building is rather old but everything worked fine, and the wooden floors and noisy radiators contribute to the charm of this Brooklyn flat. The neighborhood was really nice, I had not been there before but would definitely come back. Ala was super kind and answered really fast. The self check-in was really easy. The only negative points I could think of was that it is really noisy and hot. It didn't really bother me as I love NY street sounds and as I am cold all the time. Would definitely stay there again.

Comments: Classic Brooklyn street. Easy parking. Short walk to subway station. The charm and vibe in this apartment is so "real" the place makes you feel like you travelled back in time to a gentler time...how NYC used to be. Sitting by the window in the kitchen with the wind gently blowing the curtain, phenomenal. Ala's Moroccan/Boho décor plus her subtle accent touches truly make the apartment a gem. I don't know when I will be back in New York City, but I definitely know where I would like to stay. Thanks again Ala.

Comments: Ala’s place is a charming old Brooklyn apartment. It’s very spacious and the location is convenient. Ala is a nice host, she was responding fast to all our messages and the check in was easy too! Although the place is nice, cleanliness of the apartment wasn’t so nice. After we checked in we noticed some things around the apartment wasn’t cleaned properly (mainly bathroom, toilet, kitchen). We did some additional cleaning ourselves although Ala offered to send another cleaner after we reached out to her. At the end we had a good stay here, we just expected a lot better cleanliness for the price we paid for here.

Comments: Ala’s place was really adorable and in a great part of Brooklyn. Close to two train lines and several cafes, restaurants, and bars. Ala was super communicative and because the keys were in a lock box checking in and out was really easy. The apartment was kind of hot but that can be expected in New York City in August. There was ac in the bedroom so you can sleep easy. Overall pleasant stay.

Comments: Spacious Retro Moroccan/Turkish decor old non-refurbished accommodation. very basic air con in one room only. Basic shower. Close to shops, restaurants and trains. Hard to find things around the flat. Bed is small and very creaky. Bring your own Nespresso caps. Easy to pick up and drop off keys. Ala was responsive once she was back from being away.

Comments: Funky and homey place is an affordable location in an otherwise increasingly pricey zone. Don't expect luxury or goofy modernist touches, but nice touches that appeal to filmmakers and artists. Easy walk to subway line which shoots right into Manhattan, plenty of nice local spots within walking distance (and not horribly gentrified yet).

Comments: The apartment was great. It lived up to expectations of the posted description. The apartment was definitely vintage with hard wood floors, tile in the bathroom and older furniture. I was questioning the bed when we first used it, but it turned out to be OK. The shower is a little tricky, but just make sure to run the hot water for a bit and get in before adjusting the cold very slowly. 30 min ride to Manhattan. Handful of blocks from two different trains. Overall, great home base for the week!

Comments: The space is exactly as described and served as a great home base for our work/leisure split trip. My friend and I both had business conference calls and emails to handle the first half of the day and there was plenty of room & privacy for us to do so without getting in each other’s way. The list of recommendations was super helpful and we definitely appreciated the guidance. The space was a great temperature throughout our stay even though it was about 30 degrees outside during our stay. Loved using the Nespresso every day to avoid the trek to Starbucks as well.

Comments: - great location, just 8 min on foot to metro (any of 2 branches). You can get to Manhattan in around 15 min. - cozy apartments in style of 60-70th, just like in old movie. You want to feel the real NY - this is where you can get it, not in modern glass and steel.

Comments: The apartment was exactly as listed — it was so easy checking in and out and Ala was so courteous and quick to respond. It’s antique and old fashioned; way better than staying in all of NYC’s tacky new hotels - plus it was such a value. Transport is easy, the neighborhood was relatively relaxed and quiet, and everything was clean and comfy. We had an amazing stay!
