Interaction: Shai and Trina are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where they ran a bustling Cafe and Catering company for over 25 years. Upon their move to Hawaii's 'Big Island', they discovered the tranquil artist's village of Holualoa, nestled just above the larger town of Kailua-Kona. With perfect weather and serene tropical surroundings, they knew that it was unfair to keep their new home all to themselves, so they look forward to welcoming you with a cup of Kona coffee - grown just outside your door! Shai is a trained chef with a broad range of culinary talent. Having lived and traveled in Brazil, Israel and Thailand, Shai combines his love of food from these regions with his creativity, to prepare sumptuous daily breakfasts, gourmet dinners or picnic lunches fit for any occasion - a very special treat, so let him know if you're interested while you're here. Along with food, Trina & Shai have a passion for languages. Shai speaks five and Trina teaches part time language classes in S

Comments: Nice private area. They accommodated me at the last minute. Welcomed with a smile and showed us around the property and walked us to the room. They made sure we had everything we needed. Great place if you want to be in a secluded area.

Comments: Our stay at the Lilikoi in was excellent. I can't speak highly enough about Trina and Shai. They are extremely personable and helpful hosts and their property is everything one could want in a B&B. Our room was a great size, clean and comfortable with the perfect amount of island charm. The property is beautifully secluded with amazing views out to the water. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and we were lucky enough to enjoy coffee they grow, harvest and roast on site! We will definitely be returning to this gem.

Comments: We were so fortunate to book a room at the Lilikoi Inn at the last minute! We were greeted by Shai who cheerfully showed us our beautiful room and the lovely grounds, then surprised us with delicious smoothies made from the organic fruit grown on the property. Our room was comfortable and although it had the best view of the ocean, we really couldn't see it through the lush vegetation. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast made by chef Shai and served by Trina. Breakfast included yummy coffee from their own gardens. The Inn is even better than described in the listing. There is a secluded hot tub and outdoor shower that we did not see mentioned in the listing. The hosts were extremely warm and friendly. Be sure to let them know ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions. Enjoy your stay in paradise!

Comments: Trina and Shai were wonderful hosts, always ready to help with itinerary planning, giving driving directions, suggesting restaurants and shopping. They were generous hosts too, sharing the wonderful fruits grown on the property and free-range chicken eggs freely. The breakfasts were creative and plentiful, lots of fresh fruit, followed by interesting and delicious dishes that flowed from their well-traveled and catering experiences. Their special qualities are complimented by the fabulous home in the coffee-growing hills overlooking Kona bay, where you can lounge on the lanai with a glass of wine (or fruit juice) and watch the sun set and feel the scented cool breeze caressing your sunburnt skin. It's paradise in paradise.

Comments: Shai was friendly and helpful. Loved the breakfasts on the lanais overlooking kona. Sunsets were beautiful! Rooms were clean, comfortable. Able to use kitchen common to other guests to store our food, fruit. Loved visiting Shai's coffee field and fruit trees below the inn. His home- grown avocados were the biggest we've ever seen! Shai greeted us with a delicious papaya /banana smoothie and some avocado w bread. This was so welcomed after a long day of traveling and hiking! There are cool breezes at the inn all day as you are up high in mountain above Kona. Very quiet at night. Driveway steep, but paved. Very nice experience.

Comments: Trina and Shai were so welcoming and gracious. Breakfast each morning was a trip around the world with culinary treats. Enjoyed being up overlooking the ocean and cooler nights. Getting up to the house was a challenge on the steep, narrow road but such a treasure hidden in the hills. Looking forward to returning some day.

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay! This place is about 15 to 20 minutes outside of Kona which for us meant a nice distance from all the tourist madness. Trina and her husband were delightful hosts, serving delicious (and ample) breakfasts made with ingredients grown on their farm and offering tips on local hikes and activities. A great place to enjoy the big island!

Comments: Shai and Trina are a wonderful couple, who will go above and beyond to make sure your time on the island is much better than expected. Their place is amazing and third tips, about the Island, are even better. Highly recommend staying with them, especially if you want to enjoy a bit more local experience.

Comments: A wonderful, charming gem nested in the Kona hills, the beauty and serenity of the Lilikoi Inn is something very special indeed. The breakfasts are lovely and artfully prepared And Trina and Shai are so warm and welcoming, adding to the great experience we had there.

Comments: Gorgeous location, amazing fresh fruit available plus home cooked breakfast! Great hosts with local tips. Hard to find, especially at night, but Shy gave us good directions over the phone and met us in person to make sure we found our way. The driveway is very steep and long - a little intimidating. We wish we'd have had more nights to stay there. The rooms were not very sound proof, so we did hear other guests and the rosters crowing in the morning, not recommended for very light sleepers.

Comments: Lovely setting uphill in Kona, with coffee trees and birds. Shai & Trina are very friendly hosts with a wealth of local knowledge. Being greeted with a smoothie (made with fruits grown on site) at 11 pm was excellent!
