Space: We're right in the middle of all the action! You can walk to virtually every tourist attraction in this town! Only caveat: be prepared for the nightly sounds of karaoke (we provide ear plugs and the room fans can help mask the noise at night). Neighborhood Overview: We're right in the middle of all the action! You can walk to virtually every tourist attraction in this town! Only caveat: be prepared for the nightly sounds of karaoke (we provide ear plugs and the room fans/ACs can help mask the noise at night). We are on the beach path not directly on the beach. It is approximately a 2 minute walk to get to the beach in the pictures. FYI US News voted Kalapaki Bay the #4 thing to do on Kauai after 3 remote natural attractions. This is a great spot if you like being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle! Lihue is central to the island's attractions. Many visitors enjoy using this area as their "hub." The home is a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport.
Notes: The home can be noisy certain nights of the week due to nearby bars, etc. We do provide earplugs and highly recommend using them and the AC as a white noise machine. It's because we are right in the middle of all the fun. I do have a cat in the home. Instant book in enabled so you can book right now without approval. Also, late check-in is fine because you self check-in. Sorry, I am not great at responding to questions. Chances are, most of your questions are answered in this description so please read it carefully.
Transit: Many things are within walking distance. A Kauai Bus stop is located nearby. Although you will not need a car in this location, it is recommended in order to see the island's gorgeous natural scenery. Parking is $9/night directly in front of the front door or you can find it in the neighborhood for free.
Access: This is a simple one person room in my home with one twin bed. The room is private and has an AC unit. The bathroom is shared. Guests have living area, kitchen, and laundry privileges (the home is shared). Yes, one person only and children of all ages are people too. There are absolutely no exceptions to the one person rule so please do not ask.
Interaction: Guests self check-in. Sometimes I am there, sometimes I am not. Accordingly, late check-in is just fine. Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you thoroughly read all correspondence regarding any reservation before arriving on Kauai. This will help you find and access the property.
House Rules: Please do not book this stay if you do not speak English and will not have cell phone coverage with the Airbnb app. The ability to send messages via the app is mandatory since that is how you will communicate with us. You will need to have internet on your phone to find the home. I understand that Maps is not accurate without this. Also, all directions are on Airbnb or emailed. Please do not create drama in the neighborhood because you are not prepared to navigate to the home and please text if you need assistance. Please be respectful and don't bring any strangers into the home. There are tons of fun places to meet new friends around the home. This room has a very firm maximum occupancy of one. Please do not ask to have more people in the room. Please do not take anything away from the home except for beach towels (and please return them). This is a no-smoking property. Relax and have fun!

Comments: Solveig's home can be noisy at night as she already mentioned, however the provided earplugs do help. And this place has a lot of benefits: location, price, very clean, laundry capability, wifi; access to the beach within 3 min stroll and to the nearby hotel pool within 4 min walk; again location: parking space if you have a car; Restaurants, Bars and shopping opportunities in walking distance. Solveig and her team are very helpfull and interested in optimizing your experience of staying in this place. So yeah, go for it. I think it's an ideal starting point for your island explorations.

Comments: (English) I've stayed in Solveig's house for 4 nights and I had wonderful moments in Kaua'i. The house is very well located in Kalapaki Beach, close to good restaurants and just a few minutes from Lihue's airport. The house is clean and confortable. She is also installing air conditioned on the single room, what will make it even more confortable. Considering the location and price, I highly recomend staying there.

Comments: Felt like i had a condo on the best beach on Kauai....you have the shops, 3 or 4 great restaurants, the shave ice and the pizza slice&salad across the syreet. You are in the middle of all the attractions on Kauai from the canyon west to the beautiful north shore. The house is a gem, clean and nice vibe. This is the place you want to stay. Mahalo to Solveig

Comments: My place was clean and nice. Every time, I contacted Solveig to fix something, she responded quickly and efficiently. The beach is right next to the beach. There is some noise in the evening due to the karaoke and bars around. It was a nice experience.

Comments: What an awesome hostess! The place was clean as could be. Conveniently located - lots of restaurants and other activity near-by. The Kareoke can be a bit annoying if you need silence to go to sleep early, but I'm not an early riser so it was not an issue to me.

Comments: I loved my experience on Kauai and a big reason for that was because of Solveig. She is a great host and made me feel very comfortable from the moment I arrived. Her apartment was in a great location right next to a nice beach as well as several restaurants and bars, ensuring that you have plenty of options for diversions just moments away. I didn't have any trouble sleeping even with the nearby bars and I found the room to be perfect for my needs. Her apartment was also conveniently located for touring the whole island as it is very close to the airport and centrally located between great locales on the West or North sides of the island. I had no problems getting anywhere and there was plenty of parking available around the apartment. Mahalo Solveig!

Comments: Staying in Solveig's Beach Cabana was a home away from home experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt extremely comfortable. The apartment was nicely furnished, very clean, with care taken so that guests would not need for anything. The location is perfectly in the middle of the action in Lihue, with plenty to do, but enough flexibility to relax on the beach. Within walking distance there are excellent restaurants, ABC market and island activities. Parking is not an issue, with plenty on the street and in the adjacent parking lot. The best part of the stay is your host Solveig. She is the best hostess! This was my first ever airbnb experience and I am now spoiled! I am hoping the next time I stay at another home, I have a wonderful hostess such as Solveig. (even though she made me eat Hula Pie at Duke's!) For this visit, I was in town for the Kauai Marathon. Solveig made my race weekend a priority by asking how she could make sure that I had rest and food prior to race. Post race, she was also genuiely concerned for my return. Traveling solo, it was nice to have this support! And BTW - the music from the bar nextdoor wasn't too loud. Just in case, there are earplugs. Mahalo Solveig!

Comments: This being my first experience as a Air BB user, it possibly could be the best I will ever have. The room was cozy, clean and spacious enough for one as I was traveling alone. Great desk with chair. A dresser and ceiling fan. Beach towels were available as were all the essentials one would find in there own home. Besides that the beach is literally 54 second walk from the front door. I timed it. Very accommodating it was a fantastic place to rest and relax when the days events where over for me. Highly recommend it!

Comments: Solveig is a great host and her house is really nice. I felt really comfortable during my stay. Solveig is very helpful and friendly. I saw her a few times and she always asked me if I need something or she gave me some tips where to go. The room is not so big but it's enough space for one person. There is an AC in the room which is perfect. The house is perfectly located to the nice beach, some shops (also an ABC) and some restaurants/bars. The music from the bar is not too loud otherwise there are earplugs in the room. I definetly would stay again in Solveigs house

Comments: Solveig's cabana by the beach was a really nice and comfortable place for my short stay on Kauai, and yes, the place is basically one minute walk to the beach were you can rent a surf board or hang out. Solveig herself was a great host and was really helpful in providing tips about where to go sightseeing, car rental, etc. She just made sure in general that the guest felt at home. The location is about 5 minutes from the airport and about 45 minutes from Poipu/Koloa. The room itself as well as the place was well kept and clean, so was the bathroom. There were fresh towels available in the room which was extra nice. Due to the proximity of a karaoke bar, you might hear some light noises, but it was not a problem for my sleep. She does however provide earplugs in the room in case you need them. Additional amenities : WiFi, washer and dryer and AC if you need it, were also available for guests. If you are looking for a room for one on the island, I'd say go for this one. I certainly would book again. Thanks Solveig!

Comments: Solveig's place was in a great location for the meetings I had in town. It's also close to a lot of restaurants and bars in the area where you can let loose. You don't even need a car and plus the resort is close by in case you want to walk over there for some fun. The room was exactly what I needed for my business trip. Solveig is great as well. She gets back to you if you have questions about the area an is attentive to her guests needs. I will be back. Thanks again.

Comments: Solveig was a great host! She was very helpful and nice! I was very comfortable in the room. It felt really home. This was my first experience and she definitely set the bar high! Her place is in the middle of Kaua'i and it was easy to drive around and explore the island. I would recommend this place to everyone! Great host!

Comments: I loved this place! In fact, I will plan my next trip to Kauai around this place being available. It's on the prettiest beach and an excellent locations---really close to the airport. Solveig's directions and instructions were crystal clear. She was very available via text. The room was clean and comfortable as was the rest of the house. It's near a Marriott resort, so yes, as she says, there is some activity but the earplugs worked like a charm. This was my first Airbnb and a great introduction! I will be back!

Comments: The place was exactly as shared and I was very satisfied during my two night stay. I booked this trip very last minute and Solveig was accessible and very responsive. Throughout the stay, she shared tips about the island, local area, and was accessible and very positive. If I came back to the island, I definitely would stay here again. If you plan to spend most of your time exploring and just need a cozy, very central location to stay that's near the airport and beaches, this it it.

Comments: Solveig was a great host and her place was perfect! Location was excellent. She met me when I checked in, showed me around. I had had a frustrating day and her warmth and kindness was much appreciated. She would pop in occasionally and was accessible when I had questions for recommendations/ suggestions. I would highly recommend Solveig and would stay here again! Thank you Solveig!

Comments: Simply loved staying at Solveig's AirBnB. It's even better than described and the little touches are great: from dedicated shelf space in the fridge and in the bathroom, to little welcome messages and gifts. Plus, freely available laundry (inc. detergent) and beach towels! And then there is the wonderful benefit of having a welcoming hostess, Solveig herself: always smiling, happy to help, and stopping by every day to check up and make sure the guests are happy.

Comments: Solveig and my time in her beach cabana were amazing! There is not a better place to stay with bars, food, safe beach, and beauty while feeling at home. Solveig sat down to visit every time we crossed paths and was not only super friendly but knowledgable about the island and willing to try to make your trip the best as possible. I felt like I was hanging with a friend every time we talked. Without a doubt I will be staying there again next time I visit Kauai. Clean, comfortable, and perfect. And just an FYI the no guest rule is for your own safety and for the best! Thanks Solveig!!

Comments: I had a great stay in Solveig's home. Solveig was a charming and organized host who embodies the island's aloha spirit. I felt like a welcomed guest in her home. Her place is located just a short walk from a Kalapaki Bay, a great beach for swimming, sunning, surfing and Paddleboarding (rent a board or book and adventures with Kauai Beach Boys (Website hidden by Airbnb) I did their Wet Rappelling on a 60ft waterfall, Awesome!) and several good restaurants (Love the simple Ahi wrap at Duke's barefoot bar). Solveig's home is located in the center of the action and I was worried the evening noise of the the nearby bars/restaurants might be a bother, but for me it wasn't an issue. Solveig thoughtfully offers earplugs in the room, and it might have been fine without, but I went ahead popped those in and turned on the white noise of the air con and it was no problem. My days were very active so I pretty much passed out each night! ; ) My room was small and simple, perfect for one, with a dresser and hanging room for clothes. The bed and comforter were nice and comfortable and I appreciated that she provided an extra blanket. I always bring my electronics so wifi was a plus! Solveig provides fridge and cupboard space in the kitchen, so if you're the type that looks to cook or just want to have some basics on hand, make a stop at Costco first and you'll be set for the week! I arrived when Solveig was out, but she provided great detailed info before my arrival and all worked out smoothly. I had a rental car and had no issue finding parking nearby, and as a single female, I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood(normal caution of course), even on busy bar nights. I would definitely stay here again. Aloha!

Comments: I couldn't have asked for a better host Solveig is the most pure kindest soul I have had the pleasure to meet. I wasn't feeling well after my flight and she offered to personally take me to the hospital I couldn't believe her generosity and even left me a beautiful birthday gift at my door when I checked in. Can't say enough good things about her and her hospitality. She becomes insta-family!

Comments: I had brief last minute one night stay here. Solveig's self check-in process were well communicated and extremely efficient for me. Debra was on-site though making final touches to the property and welcomed me and answered any questions I had. Solveig has clear written instructions for most essential items/processes within the home. My room was well appointed with a desk, wardrobe, bureau and TV. The kitchen and bathroom are also well appointed as well and have clearly marked areas for guest storage if needed. The location is a short walk to Kalapaki beach (with Marriott adjacent) and many reasonably priced restaurants and shops. Solveig was gracious and provided area dining amd recreation tips to enhance my visit. Use of provided earplugs abated nearly all noise and made for a restful slumber. Solveig imbues the spirit of aloha and both she and her property are true assets to airbnb, my only regret is not spending more time here.

Comments: Solveig made me immediately feel at home, and was incredibly helpful in pointing out what the area had to offer. Comments: The reviews are filled with glowing praise for Solveig and the immaculately kept beach house. It's all true! The property description possibly undersells the location. Being a short stroll to Duke's, the Marriott, and the great Kalapaki beach views made me feel like I was living in a 1960s Elvis, Hawaiian movie. The karaoke bar is a plus in my book. It was all part of a great experience! As a customer, most of us just ask for is for a fair deal. If we hope for a bonus, it comes in the form of little extra considerations, or just something unique about the experience. My stay at the Beach Cabana House and Solveig's friendly professionalism delivered on all this and more!! Solveig and her Beach house are certainly adding their share of joy to this world. For all this, I am very grateful and would without hesitation recommend others to stay here. -Tom

Comments: I stayed in room #1 and I had a fantastic time. The room was clean and tidy and the AC worked well. There was definitely noise from the adjacent bar but that was clearly described before I booked. The kitchen area was very useful and I was able to cook all of my own meals (saving a ton vs. going out to eat). Solveig was also a great host, checking in multiple times to ensure I had everything I needed.

Comments: The highest praise I can give is that I felt like this was my home for the week. I sometimes hesitate to use airbnb if I think it will feel like I am invading someone's space. this was not the case here. She checked in regularly but there was plenty of time that I was alone in the house. The house is lovely and clean. The room is small but a single person will be perfectly comfortable. The noise was not a problem for me and I go to bed early. Ear plugs and white noise were fine. The location is really fun. Technically you could stay here with no rental car and have access to beach and restaurants....but you will want a car for at least some of your days to tour around. Burgers at the beach hut a stone's throw away are delish.

Comments: I had a wonderful time staying at Solveig's place. It's in a great spot, the room and house is very comfy, clean, and welcoming. Solveig was very welcoming and accommodating, and was very quick to respond to any questions/needs I had. As explained in the room description, there is a loud tavern next door, but honestly I'm a bit of a night owl and the loudness had pretty much stopped before I went to bed around 12:30 or 1 AM. (I stayed Monday through Wednesday nights) I didn't even use the ear plugs or AC/noise machine provided. All in all a beautiful experience, would definitely stay here again!

Comments: This was a great location, for getting around and also for the options in nearby restaurants and hangouts. As described, you can definitely hear the sounds of nightlife. Cruise ships dock on Thursday nights, so the night I arrived was the noisiest. But it's worth it considering the convenience, comfort and cleanliness of the place, and very nice to have access to a washer and dryer. I only met Solveig briefly, but she was kind and welcoming and made sure I had all the information I needed. Plus she was more than happy to offer suggestions on what to do around Kauai to guests who asked.

Comments: Wonderful hostess. Perfect place for those on a budget. Clean bed, cozy space, central location. kitchen has all needed for cooking. Beach towels, books to read and a bar next door. Only minus besides the nightly noise from bar was parking situation. Park close for a few dollars more or expect to spend time waiting in parking lot for space to open up. Other than that it's more than expected for the price.

Comments: I didn't see Solveig during my 1 night stay but it was well organised and directions were clear. The home is very clean, comfortable and exactly as described. Comments: After attempting to cancel my reservation based on the stated policy for the room, getting a message saying my cancellation was being processed, then getting a text from the host asking if I was out so the room could be cleaned the next day after I was gone, I still didn't get any refund. Airbnb claims I should have directly contacted the host. The host then informed me that the room was cleaned on the last day of my initial reservation, not the day I got that text. All these errors turned out to benefit Airbnb and the host, while I threw away money not being there.

Comments: Best Bang for the Buck. In simple terms, but so much more! Location, easily accessible, all the perks of a , larger rental, ie washer , dryer. Boogie board, etc. Restaurants, airport. Beaches and shopping all there. Sort of a European Hostel environment, but you know that going in, so it is not a problem, but a opportunity.

Comments: The place was great. Very clean, easy to find and comfortable. The AC worked great and the location is hard to beat. It was only a 2 min walk to the beach which was awesome. It was loud at night, but earplugs were in the room and it didn't bother me. Perfect if you like the nightlife, probably not as great if you wanted to go to sleep at 9pm.

Comments: Solveig's place was absolutely perfect for my stay on kauai, it's right on a lovely quiet beach and near some cute shops and restaurants. Could drive to kapaa, a bigger town, in 15 minutes. The house itself was beautiful and clean, and I found it really quiet at night (didn't hear the karaoke or bars at all, which I had expected to from other reviews). Will definitely be coming back to stay and would highly recommend this place!

Comments: Solveig's airbnb space was the really well organized. My room had my name and duration of stay hanging on the door. There is a very clear sheet in the room with all the questions one might have regarding the space, laundry as well as car rentals and the surrounding businesses. The room was really comfortable and having an AC there was a blessing in the hot weather. The room as well as the shared bathroom are really clean. There's also a refrigerator where you can out your food in. There was also some food that Solveig had kept for the people staying in the rooms which was very nice. She is very sweet and patient, even with my asking questions regarding things that were mentioned on the sheet sometimes. I also got to interact with a few guests which was great. The house is about 2 blocks away from a beach and you have really good places to go have dinner, shaved ice, coconut water or just to rent kayaks for touring around. There's also a really nice bar to go and have drinks at night. All in all, I was personally really happy with my stay there.

Comments: Had a great stay at Solveig's place. Accurate description regarding the karoake (had me laughing though) but I could see some people having trouble sleeping if they are light sleepers. The place is neat, bed was clean (no sign of bed bugs or critters), room was clean, and bathroom stayed clean with a full house. However, the last part is going to be more guest dependent. Solveig offers one set of towels for your stay but you have access to the washer and dryer downstairs and she offers soap. A nice touch for my 9 day stay in Hawaii. There is plenty of room to eat if you decide to bring carry out back to the place and she opened up her kitchen (I used the fridge) if you decide to get some light groceries. The fridge is segmented by room so I wouldn't buy too much stuff unless it was OK with other roomates. My room had a desk which was very useful for my video capture/editing needs. I even had a aerial craft and found it to be enough room with a laptop and a few small cameras. Anybody who is traveling with gear might find that very useful to know. Parking was very easy in the lot next to the apartment. One thing to note is the front door lock -- it took awhile to make sure it was locked properly so I would make sure to check this when entering/exiting the place. Same goes for the laundry room. Air conditioning is very cold in my room but keep in mind, island electricity is so expensive that it's best to run it when you are there. My room also had a fan. This room is great for a solo traveler who is looking to explore the island most days and crash at nights. It's also in a good location for walking to get food. The bed is a twin bed so for you very tall people (I'm 5'8) it may be worth considering what room may be more comfortable for you.

Comments: I traveled to Kauai on business and in order to avoid the ridiculous hotel prices I decided to try Solveig's accommodations. I will say that this place was perfect and everything I needed. It is in a very central location, close to food, entertainment and the beach, which is challenging to find on Kauai without a large expense attached to it. The room and house in general was very clean and organized. I have absolutely no complaints, however I do have a couple of suggestions: You will most likely not meet Solveig, which was a bit weird for me to go into someones house without actually meeting the host. With that being said, you MUST read her extensive instructions so you are clear on how this situation works. I would also suggest getting there during the day because it can leave you a bit confused if you arrive at night, especially if you have a car. If you have a vehicle, which I highly recommend then remember not to park in front of the house. If you are standing on the road looking at the house, the big lot across the little bridge to the right is not only public parking, but you can leave your car there over night without being towed. This was quite a source of confusion for me because I was very concerned about parking in an area where I would be towed. I didn't feel like it was completely conveyed where it would be safe to park over night without the risk of being towed so I hope this helps a few people. Another piece of information you need to know is that although Solveig leaves her local number to text her on or call, she does not respond to it at all and seems to only communicate via the messaging system provided by Airbnb, you also need to know this in case you have questions. You may also have a very pleasant and friendly lady approach you and follow you into the house at some point. She knows who you are, but of course you have no idea who she is. Most likely this is Debra who takes care of the cleaning at the house. She is a very nice lady so don't be alarmed. Lastly, especially if you are staying in room #2, I highly suggest having the air conditioner on fan mode all night to drown out the noise coming from the bar next door. With the fan on, you barely hear anything at all, which makes it possible to sleep. Once again, these last pieces of information are NOT complaints. I was very happy with my stay and it was perfect for what I needed. I will definitely stay there again on my next business trip. I hope this information helps you in enjoy your stay.

Comments: Solvieg was not sighted, but sent a few texts. The actual location and room were excellent apart from the noise of the dump trucks at 4.00am most nights. The house has a lot to offer for your stay. The free percolated coffee was a great hit with me. You can lie on the beach on the grass as in the picture though it is right outside the marmot Hotel. I surfed every day on the waves you can see in the picture. Bored hire and the surf is within 200m of this Air BNB.

Comments: Solveig's Place is very well organized so that it works also when she herself is not always present. The house is located very close to the beach, restos and shops. Everything is clean and I loved to stay there very much. For noise-sensitive people it could be a bit difficult because of a karaoke bar near Solveig's house. But I 'd certainly stay there again when returning to Hawaii one day.

Comments: I scheduled a random last minute trip with Solveig. Booked the room a day before arrival. I was happy to see how neat and clean her home was kept. I only met Solveig briefly, she was very nice. The place is as she describes, very conveniently located almost on the beach next to restaurants and surf/sup rentals. However as she describes it is right next to a place of people enjoying their night time festivities. I would definitely stay there again.

Comments: Solveig and the place were awesome! The room was comfortable, clean and organized and it was perfect because it's central to everything in that local area. It also provided a great jumping-off location to explore the rest of island to the north and the west by car. The karaoke issue is real - but not as bad as I had expected and I never really needed ear plugs, but I was on island-time so maybe I had a better attitude :-) Anyway: Highly recommend! Thanks again Solveig!

Comments: Awesome place to stay. It's right on the beach! I only ran in to solveig once because of our busy schedules but she is super nice and welcoming. The twin bed I had was pretty small if you're taller than 5"9' (that's a guess) your feet may hang off. I would definitely stay with solveig again! Her home looks just like the photos. It's cozy and in a great spot. It's not one of those places that looks good in photos but you get there and it's a dump, it is actually nice and clean. The bars nearby really aren't that loud, there are earplugs that solveig provides in your room, and your room has a fan so with that combo I didn't hear anything that kept me awake at night.

Comments: Greeted by Kate from Fun Cars and a welcome sign on Room #1 was a nice place to start. However after that the noisy street noise was More Than I like. Even with earplugs and white noise. It felt a bit outdated and its Main Redeeming quality was proximity to the beach. I won't stay here again.

Comments: A great place to stay in Lihue. Casual and comfortable, only a short walk to the bay. Plenty of shops nearby, more of the tourist type granted. Know the bedroom is on the smaller size, with only a twin bed. This size is not a problem but it's good to know in case you plan to travel with lots of luggage. Also, it's upstairs. The other features of the apartment are shared amongst the other guests as well as the host. Free parking is located nearby but not on the premises. Would love to stay again!

Comments: Due to late flight, didn't arrive until nearly midnight. Directions for locations and entry were good. Managed to let myself into the house and find my to room with a minimum of stumbling around in the dark being the directionally challenged person I am. Public parking is across short 2 lane bridge opposite Nawiliwili Tavern. Room was basic, twin bed with desk, fine for me as I was alone on short business trip. Beach shown in picture is 100 meters from house. Close to airport and shops, restaurants. Met Solveig very briefly as I was leaving. Good value, location, and much aloha.

Comments: Debra, Solveig's neighbor, was incredibly sweet and welcoming when I arrived. She gave me some great places to check out. The area is incredibly well kept, with a kitchen available for full use. My room was spacious and cozy and had multiple cooling options to use if it got hot. The house is shared with another Airbnb user, but its a great way to meet new people. If you want someplace perfectly central, is very reasonably priced, is a very quick walk to the beach, several restaurants and central to everywhere, this is the place to stay. Its perfectly central to the north and west part of the island. If you don't mind wearing ear plugs (they provide good ones) this place is great. I had no problems getting a very restful nights sleep even with all the night life!

Comments: My Airbnb was great. I couldn't of asked for a better place to stay. It was clean, very centrally located and cozy. As a single female traveler there was many places to walk to and get breakfast.. Lunch and dinner. Public parking very near the apartment . I didn't have really any interactions with my host, but she was a text away from any questions or concerns. The only confusion I had was when I first arrived , I had a slight hard time figuring out what door to enter in, but again, solveig was there to walk me thru it step by step. My bedroom had a lock with a key you took with you so you had your mind at ease the your belongings where safe. I highly recommend staying here and also I highly recommend renting a car so you can see the true beauty of Kauai. Mahalo and hope to be back in the future.

Comments: I had a wonderful experience staying here! The room is perfect size and includes AC. I was lucky to have an awesome roommate during my stay! The ABC store is located at the end of the anchor mall which has everything you need. The Nawilliwilli tavern next door is a great spot to grab a drink. I slept perfectly, didn't hear a peep at night. I would recommend renting a car if you want to explore the island along with booking excursions ahead of time. I did purchase the helicopter trip through island helicopters. Best experience of my life! My favorite place to eat was dukes which is located on the beach. Everything is within walking distance which makes this the perfect place to stay! I will be back again!

There are some more affordable eats too if you're looking to save money. The location is also very close to the airport, so for those who don't have a car, my taxi ride to the airport cost about $10. As for the accommodation, I enjoyed coming back to the scent of candles and am a sound sleeper so the late night karaoke didn't bother me. Comments: Minimal contact with host. Debra (cleaning lady) was a sweetheart and very helpful. The noise from the bar next door didn't bother me, but the roosters were rather annoying. Earplugs were provided, plus AC to reduce noise. In addition to the other room being rented out on Air B&B, someone lives in the third bedroom. There was minimal interaction with this individual, but she was speaking loudly on the phone in her room one afternoon, plus her heavy footsteps in the evening did manage to wake me up. Aside from that, the place is great for a solo traveler and the location is very central.

The only thing I wish is that it didn't seem like I was being such a hassle if I wanted to reach out for any questions. Comments: Perfect for one last night on the island and need to stay close to the airport. Kauai bus stop is very close by and it goes straight to the airport. Couldn't be easier and costs a quarter! I actually had two nights so welcomed access to free laundry facility so I could arrive my next stop (HNL) with all clean clothes. Yes it's noisy but at least noise dies down after 1 AM unlike Waikiki where the nightlife never ends even when it's no longer night!

I read about the noise from other reviews, it does get noisy from a karaoke bar next door, I didn't really mind as noise doesn't bother me. The room as a single bed and has the basics. Comments: Great place to stay. Very vlose to the beach (a 2 minute walk), a few bars, restaurants, and plenty of shops. Very family friendly. I came for my 21st birthday and i loved the location. I get to relax, shop, and drink whenever i want. I felt very safe here. She is very detailed about rules and information. Follow her instructions and you wont have a single problem. Everything is clearly labeled for convenience. I had no trouble (and little interaction) with others in the house. The pace is slow in this area, very relaxed which was perfect for me. However, if you're looking for a big city feel this is not the island for you. I had no issue with the noise. The home is very clean. I ran into a couple bugs and quite a few lizards on the property. It was expected, it is a tropical island after all lol. Theres a few stray cats that hang around the shop next to the house & plenty of chickens.

Comments: Solveig’s place is literally just a couple minutes walk to the beach. It's not the bluest beach but it's local, tamed, and more/less a quieter stretch of sand good for paddle-boarding and easy swimming. Sunrise is amazing if you can wake up for it. I think many of the people from the neighboring chain hotel do that. The room itself is good for someone who is going to be in-and-out. As in the description, if you are looking for a peaceful night's sleep...this isn't for you. Earplugs are supplied because of the tavern next door (you will hear the cars, and yes, you will hear all the songs to sing along to). With that said, sunrise made up for all of that. Check in and check out is a breeze. I left my things in the laundry room easily while waiting for a flight later in the day. I walked around the beach if you don't have a car (the limited number of shops and cafes around aren't too special).

Comments: Nice place for easy access to a quiet beach near the Marriot and several casual or fancier restaurants near by... There were beach towels and even extras such as snorkeling and body board although the waves at the bay where the place is located were not strong enough to make use of it and the bays water is a bit murky but if you had a car it would be great! The room is small and simple but comfortable and gets very warm in the afternoon and one of the nights I stayed the air did not seem to work right, but otherwise it was very organized and clean. The karaoke did not seem noisy at all with the fan on:). There are 3 rooms that are rented out separately and all felt safe and comfortable. Debra, the lady who helps manage affairs at the place, was AMAZING! She went out of her way to be kind and help me settle in- she offered and went to the store for me for groceries and helped me even after I left. Debra was the greatest gift of my stay in Hawaii, can't say enough how much her kindness touched me:) Also there was a small gift of a Souvenir from Hawaii which was a very seeet and thoughtful touch. Would stay again and for the price being so near the beach was great:)

Everything-from kitchen cabinets to bathroom fixtures are labeled for convenience and to eliminate confusion. It's right next to one of the many small shopping centers in Lihue--you can have breakfast on the beach and then shopping afterward. It's also a short walk away from a Lihue shuttle stop that goes all around town. Solveig herself is a great host and always accessible over Airbnb or text to help with any concerns. I can't think of a better place place to stay in Lihue that's reasonably affordable!

As she states in the description, the place can get a bit noisy due to a couple of pubs and bars in the immediate proximity. With the AC on, I personally didn’t find this disturbing at all. Close to the house, you have very nice restaurants, a beautiful beach, and a small shopping area. Highly recommended place in Lihue!

Comments: This place is fantastic. It's a clean and simple place right next door to a small shopping area, a few bars and the beach. It is noisy some nights, but the most problem i had was all the roosters kicking off at first light. You WILL need a car to enjoy all Kauai has to offer though, so keep that in mind. Thanks so much!

Comments: Solveig’s place was perfect for my 4 nights in Kaua‘i. The entire place was clean and exactly as described. The bedroom was small but comfortable. I was in the room facing the tavern and I actually enjoyed hearing some of the music at night. The earplugs work great and you can always close the window and use the AC if you want. Laundry was free and convenient which was great after my dirty hikes. I paid for parking so I could park right outside of the house, well worth it. The bathroom was spotless and the toilet and shower worked great. The beach, restaurants, and shops are only a few feet away and driving to other parts of the island is easy. Solveig was quick to reply when I had any questions. This place is a steal! Don’t hesitate to book.

Comments: Perfect place for budget minded singles to stay. Wonderful location except for the tavern being so close and the night action continuing into the wee hours. In spite of that, close to swimming beach & resort and very convenient. Clean and well appointed. Really enjoyed exploring this part of the island!! I'd do it again.

Comments: Great location within walking distance to several restaurants and shops. You are literally on Kalapaki Beach which is a very nice beach with surf/sup rentals etc. right there. It's less than a 5 minute walk to the Marriott Kauai resort as well. The rooms had everything you could need for your stay and everything is clearly marked in the common areas so you know what you can and cannot use. The bathroom and fridge even have separate and clearly marked shelves for each room. Beach towels, boogie boards are provided as well. I had to store my luggage for a bit and she let me put it in the laudry room which is locked and secure. I would highly recommend for a single traveler.

Comments: Great place for singles to stay for the price and convenience to the beach, food, and souvenirs. You’ll still need a car if you plan to see other parts of the island. There is some noise from the local bars at night but the provided ear plugs made this not an issue.

Comments: Solveig's house is a great place to stay for a solo traveller. Instructions for accessing the space were very clear and the room was clean and comfortable with all of the necessities. I brought earplugs as suggested as Solveig's place is right in the heart of all of the action true to her description, but there were some in the room as well, which was a nice touch. It was also nice to have access to the kitchen and my own space for storing food. Beach items were also available, although the weather wasn't the best in Lihue during my stay so I didn't get a chance to use anything. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

Comments: A very great spot if you’re looking for a one bedroom for a night or two. There is a camera recording the entrance; so the owner really takes the “No visitors” rule quite seriously. But the space and one bedroom is nice + there is A/C! And you can walk down to one of the few spots which is open until midnight!

I know there’s restaurants and bars in front of the house, but I have to say that I’d spent all my energies on daytime for exploring around, so I was too tired to get those noises z actually not that bad! The location is perfect, only less than 10 mins from airport, and 30 mins to Poipu beach. ABC store is right in neighborhood, only take you 3 mins to get to beach as well. Highly recommend! Comments: Solveig offers one of the most affordable beachside spots on the island. It is clean and comfortable, very near the airport, and walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. People outside the bar next door (Nawiliwili Tavern) can be a little noisy some nights, but it didn't bother me despite my room being the nearest to it. This central location is perfect, although you really do need a car to see all the sights on Kauai. Solveig's communication was clear and prompt, including regarding my last minute request for a parking spot out front (additional charge). I would definitely stay there again. :)

Comments: Solveig's place is located near a beautiful beach in Lihue and smack in the middle of a lot of local action. The description of the place is very detailed and accurate; I was not surprised by late night revelry from the neighboring bar. The location was ideal and the orderliness of the place and communication by the host prior to check-in made my quick stay easy and comfortable. I recommend this place to the single traveler who is not too concerned about noise from the bar lasting into the wee hours of the night.

Comments: Solveig's home was such a perfect spot for my stay. The location is such a quick drive to Lihue Airport, a 2 minute walk to the sea, less than one minute walk to bars and restaurants, and overall a comfortable and safe place. I was impressed with her organization around the home, labeling amenities and notes for guests to best understand functionality of her place. The bed was comfortable, the AC in my room worked great, I enjoyed the private lock on my door, and in general everything was super easy to understand. I would recommend this to any solo travelers passing through!

Comments: This place is just as the description reads, clean, fully stocked, and in a convenient location. I came in at night so a bit tricky finding the door in and plodding my way upstairs, but the directions provided adequate detail to help me. The small rooms have great fans and a small but modern air condition unit for comfortable night time sleeping. I didn’t find it noisy as described but lucked out and my stay was Sunday through Wednesday evening. The cruise ship docks on Thursdays causing the night life noise increase on Thursday nights. Great location and nice place.

Comments: PERFECT location in Lihue. You're steps from the beach and tons of restaurants. You're also right next to the Marriott which has a beautiful large outdoor patio area overlooking the water. I highly recommend buying coffee and breakfast there in the morning. The room was small but perfect and had everything I needed. Most importantly it's sparkling clean! I would certainly recommend staying here to any other solo travelers. It is ideal.

Comments: Great spot for a solo traveler looking to crash inexpensively on Kauai. I liked the flexible self check-in policy and appreciated that there was plenty of lot parking nearby. The place was very well represented both in the photos and host description. Everything was clean and there was cozy common space should you choose to use it. It felt like there were a lot of rules at this location, more than any other Airbnb I’ve stayed in, but they ultimately contributed to a comfortable stay in a shared unit and clear expectations about behavior and respecting other tenants.

Comments: This Airbnb was adequate for my needs, which was a place to de-jetlag for two nights. Pros: Location close to a beautiful beach and several good places to eat (loved the beach hut across the way). Room and bathroom were decently clean if a bit dated/cluttered. Cons: Host was very slow to respond. Common areas were cluttered and fridge was a bit smelly. Felt a bit colder (mood/mahalo-wise) compared to most Airbnbs in the way there were so many house rules and the tone in which they were written was sometimes condescending. Loud roosters but earplugs provided. For just a night or two as a solo traveler it'll do the trick.

Comments: This little cabana is well located to get around from and backs onto a beautiful swimming bay. There are a few walkable restaurants and breakfast places. The place is clean and has most things you need for comfort. I didn’t experience much noise from local bar at night and only encountered one other guest briefly. The host is not visible but does answer emails, not always immediately, but she did come through for me when needed. Would stay here again for convenience, budget and for swimming :)

Comments: This place is wonderful for solo travelers. You enter via code, there are books, towels and beach gear for common use in common home areas. You have a laundry, optional parking (I parked across the bridge everytime and had no problems), a hose to rinse off when coming in, steps on entry. This place was very clean other than some mess in the kitchen. There was no mirror in my room and it would have really helped. There’s no ac in the house so it’s warm but there is ac in the rooms and fans making optimal sleeping conditions possible.

Comments: This is a great place for a solo traveler. Location is great but you will definitely need a car to go around, there is a few things around but not that much. It’s a 3 bedrooms flat so expect roommates, the bathroom is big and clean. There is AC is the rooms but the common room can be really hot. Internet works well. I didn’t found it super noisy as expected, maybe being there in September is quieter. Overall a great place!

Comments: Wonderful choice for solo travelers! One of the best deals on the island I could find. The room was private and had an air conditioning unit which was great. Solveig thought of everything to make a guest’s stay comfortable and convenient. Host was very welcoming. Very clean, a bit cluttered but I didn’t mind, still very clean and well kept. Location is GREAT, BUT that area is very congested. I recommend taking her up on $9 parking/day if you decide to rent a car- otherwise you will need to park elsewhere and walk to the unit. The noise wasn’t bad- earplugs are provided if needed. Great restaurants within walking distance and Kalapaki Beach is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this beach cabana for solo travelers looking to save a little $$.

Comments: Small room in shared home in downtown Lihue, and exactly what I needed for this trip. Noise wasn't an issue if you had ear plugs, and the AC worked well in covering up outside noise and cooling down the space. The bathroom was great, and there weren't any issues with folks needing the bathroom at the same time (to be honest I was there a whole week and didn't see either of the other guests). Only issue was when I got in after an 18hr trip at 9pm, the room wasn't cleaned made and I had to wait about 30 mins to get that resolved. Life happens, it was just frustrating. Abby (the cat) is such a sweetheart. It was hard to see how lonely she was though while I was there since Solveig wasn't around.

Comments: Perfect for a solo traveler, comfortable bed, air conditioning, full kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared by 3 guests. Was able to find street parking with a few waits for a spot to open up. Friendly cat. Very clean, and centrally located for visiting all parts of Kauai. I stayed 5 nights; unfortunately did not get to meet Solveig. Noise from traffic/bar was a little annoying, but using the air conditioning as "white noise" helped block most of it out (and ear plugs are provided if you want them).

Comments: Great place , close to everything. I did however forget about the bay around the corner , would have been great for a snorkle. Which you should do while visiting ,the Pacific is so full of life. Go to dukes for hula pie and the beach hut across the street for breakfast. Don’t miss the Portuguese sausage . Abby the house cat is super sweet and vocal, I enjoyed her company. The bar next door had some good local beers , the noise wasn’t a bother at all. If your like me you’ll be to tired from running all , you’ll be fast asleep. Higly recommend this location!!

Comments: The description given is accurate, but room 1 is very small and I felt cramped-even for 1 person. Everything was clean and well decorated. Comments: Great place to stay when travelling alone. The location is a perfect starting place on the island, in between the North and South shores - I personally preferred travelling to South-West (Waimea ftw! and the alternate route to hwy50 via Hulemalu rd was also a fun drive - but don't head there to go W during rush hour around 4pm as you would have to turn L onto a busy highway) but both directions have their goods. Definitely recommend a car to really explore the island, worth the rental and gas though going past Hanelei is currently closed from last year's landslide. Beach is close by and well taken care of with beach vball courts, surfers to watch and rental equipment available. Lots of towels, boogie boards, etc. are provided - even board games in the home. There is a friendly cat chilling in the place - just be careful to shut your door in case you don't want it coming into your space. A/C is there if you need it, though when I was there opening the window was usually enough with the wind coming through. As to the parking - there is parking across the bridge (watch out for the pot holes in the lot!) however I found that with people visiting the beach/restaurants, getting parking from 3-8pm (plus I was there from Thurs-Sat) can be very difficult - you may want to consider paying for parking if you might be arriving during these busy times. There is lots of parking farther down past the "paved" area but be prepared the HUGE potholes and dirt/water (as you would find at some of the other beach parking lots) . A local warned me not to park in that area overnight because of the risk to the vehicle as well as myself as the area is very dark. Overall, would stay here again if I were travelling by myself - this area is great for the first time traveller so that you can explore or for those who don't get a rental vehicle.
