  Comments: What a place! They’ve done a great job remodeling a classic old building overlooking the city (with great view of Sugarloaf Mountain). Spotless, secure, modern, and comfortable, with a tasteful, minimalist design that is hard to find in this city. It’s in front of a very special – and well-stocked! – old neighborhood bar where local legends, artists, and musicians hang out every day. The location on the edge of Santa Teresa is magical: it’s on top of the hill, but there are busses ( (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ) and motorcycle taxis (near the Gloria metro station) that make getting there easy. The famous tiled steps and Flamengo park are close by, and within just a few minutes you have the madness of Lapa or the convenience of the metro, but the location is amazingly peaceful. Cannot wait to get back here someday!

  Comments: Marcela did everything to make my stay perfect. She helped me with all the things I needed and getting around. The apartment was perfect for me. A good kitchen, bed and a little balcony. I like it that it is away from the touristy locations. It is a more real Rio experience this way. The apartment is located on a hill. It is about 15 minutes walking to the subway and there is also a beach at about 30 minutes walking. There's also a bus that stops close by. I can recommend this place.

  Comments: I had an amazing experience by staying here. The flat was newly modernized, looking like a hotel room, in a building with about ten flats available for rent. The view was towards the sea and the Sugar Loaf mountain, so very beautiful. The internet is good, with a unique router for each apartment. The TV has about one hundred channels available, most in dubbed in Portuguese. The room comes furbished with a drawer in the wall, with a fridge, freezer, cooker, washing machine. Soap and shampoo is provided for the first day, and detergent enough for a month to wash cloths. The hosts were very warm in welcoming me, providing advice about visiting Rio and a complex Rio tourist map (you can have this map from the airport as well, as well as other materials about tourism in Rio). One day when I lost the key, they waited me late at 11.30 when I arrived with a new set of keys. The neighborhood of Santa Teresa is safe and well lit. But you should know the flat is on the top of the hill, and you need about 15 minute climb from the Gloria metro station or 10 minutes from Lapa and the famous stairs Selaron. However, there are also taxis by motorcycle for 3 reals from Metro Gloria, as well as buses that can take you to the Central Station for also 3 reals. Being at the top of the hill gives an amazing view over the city, especially the Sugar Loaf mountain. In front of the flat there is a small shop from where you can by water, beer, fruits and even pizza to go. The Lapa neighborhood has many nice bars. And right on the hill there is the Museum of the Ruins, where on old house has been offered to the tourists to see the city from its top floors, given an even better view. Also the price was very good for the quality. Overall, a great experience. I recommend it.

  Comments: Nous avons passé un super séjour dans l'appartement de Marcela et Frédérico! Le quartier est un quartier bohème juste au dessus du fameux quartier dansant de Lapa et à 5 min en descente des escaliers colorés de selaron. Une petite épicerie se trouve juste en bas de l'appartement, parfaite pour les produits de première nécessité, ils font d'ailleurs de très bonnes pizzas et sont très aimable. Frédérico est très disponible et répond rapidement lorsqu'on le sollicite. Les photos de l'appartement sont très fidèles. Rio est une magnifique destination nous y avons séjourné 1 mois sans regret.

  Comments: The apartment is just great, loved it! Very nice new and clean. When you had a place in Copacabana before you will just love the quietness in Santa Teresa. There is a bar/mini-supermarket at the other side of the street which is handy. It is not far from Metro station Gloria, a bit hike up the mountain but no problem when you are healthy. I got a local prepay phone card which is handy for foreigners as you cannot buy this yourself (need to register with a social security number). My luggage was delayed and Marcela and Frederico had it delivered at their place and brought it to the apartment. All in all great service. I didn't need much more help but am sure that you can ask them for tips to visit Rio too. Thanks for the nice stay!

Frederico & Marcela were absolutely charming and made sure my stay was very close to perfect. The views from several units are spectacular with unobstructed views of Pão De Açucar-Sugar Loaf Mountain and the neighborhood of Santa Teresa is very appealing. Walking down the hill or taxi, bus or van to Lapa, Centro or Gloria metro station is only literally minutes away. I was very fortunate to find this "Amazing Flat In Santa Teresa" and I highly recommend.

  Comments: Frederico and Marcela are amazingly nice people! I was there during Carnaval and Frederico and Marcela were nice enough to have drinks available for the occupants. Their place is located on the border of Gloria and Lapa. It's literally 5 min to the Lapa steps and 7 min to the Gloria metro. The area was very safe and the streets were well lit. The room has its own balcony and small amenities to sustain yourself. I really enjoyed myself in Rio and I will return!! Thank you for your hospitality!

  Comments: The place is great and well located. It is close to the nightlife in Rio (about a $2 Uber ride from Lapa, which is quite convenient). The kitchen had everything we needed and the studio had plenty of space. It is in walking distance from the Celaron steps and from the classic St Tereza street car. They were great hosts and assisted us in everything we needed. Five stars for sure. We can't wait to return next time we're in Rio.

  Comments: Good room @ Santa Teresa. Better to rent a car. Stairs of Santa Teresa can be hard. Otherwise Uber still working, Taxis are crooks in Rio. The room is enough for 2 to small for 3 but if you search something cheap it will be enough. Communication and check-in were perfect. Great host-Service. All in all I would recommend the room for the price. Thx

  Comments: Estamos mas q conformes con el departamento, el barrio, la atencuon de Amelia q es sumamente encantadora y dispuesta a resolver cualquier cuestion (nos llamó a Uber xq no teníamos la aplicacion, nos dio adaptadores para cargar las baterias de los celulares y nos asesoró para los paseos). El único inconveniente es q el departamento es por escalera pero el resto de las comodidades (cama muy cómoda, aire, electrodomésticos, etc.) hace q valga la pena la estadía. Los felicitamos!

  Comments: Very well furnished flat, stands out in the Santa Teresa area. Great views over Rio from the back of the building. Location is very close to a great venue where lots of music events, exhibitions, etc take place. It's a short stroll from the top of the famous Celeron steps and the Bar do Serginho where they also tend to have street parties on weekends. They have several individual flats very tastefully and thoughtfully renovated with various of electrical sockets, essential in Brazil. And we had the best internet in Brazil! The TV was very conveniently located. The compact kitchen seemed to have the essentials and anything else was quickly provided - we did not get into any cooking. And last but not least, we were given top advice from the flat manager as what to do and where to go in Rio, not to be missed!

  Comments: Great apartment. This was a unique Air BnB experience in that they are very professional in how everything is set up with full-time staff to help you with tourism throughout the city. Santa Teresa is a really beautiful neighborhood that I felt I was in a unique and authentic neighborhood. You are on top of a hill which sets you up for amazing views but plan to walk down hill to get to the subway and uber uphill to get to the front door. If you get a chance, take a city tour with Bike in Rio on the first day you are there to a get a better idea of how Rio is laid out and it will give you a better idea what is accessible from Santa Teresa and how to better arrive to the surrounding neighborhoods. The apartment is exactly like the pictures. There are other apartments in the building that dont' have windows facing the street that you can pay a bit more for but all in all we enjoyed our apartment. What you see in the pictures is what you get.

  Comments: Le logement est comme sur les photos, propre,fonctionnel très bien situé près de l'escalier de Saleron , du parc des ruines , des arcades de Lapa et des restaurants. L'accueil d'Amélia a été très chaleureux , elle a pris le temps de nous écouter, nous informer et nous conseiller tout en prenant en compte nos souhaits et nos contraintes. Elle a même fait le booking du taxi pour notre départ . La communication est facile car elle parle Anglais et Espagnol. Un endroit que nous recommandons. Un grand merci à nos hôtes.

  Comments: Todo fue fácil en el Sugar Loft: la llegada, tips al llegar para disfrutar mejor Río, y el barrio de Santa Teresa... Incluso cuando nuestra lavadora no funcionó (aunque lo que realmente sucedía es que habían dejado la llave del agua cerrada) Amelie se ofreció a hacer la colada por nosotros! Zona segura, con muchos restaurantes cerca, y a 15-20 reales en Uber de las playas de Ipanema y Copacabana.

  Comments: Difícil resumir a estadia no espaço da Marcela, só estando lá para vivenciar a singularidade de Santa Tereza. O bairro é super charmoso e acolhedor, e o contato com a natureza é um capítulo à parte, além da vista maravilhosa, pois o bairro é localizado em uma parte alta da cidade. Há bares e restaurantes, e um pequeno comércio local que satisfaz itens de primeira necessidade. O apto é super limpo, recém reformado e com boa roupa de cama e toalhas, além de equipamentos na cozinha para refeições peqenas. Super indico o espaço e os anfitriões.

  Comments: Very nice remodelled apartment in a great neighbourhood, Santa Teresa. Host was difficult to contact, needs to be more attentive to guests. Beware that water in apartment is not potable and host does not provide any bottled water. A lively fun eclectic area, close to many attractions. Very peaceful blocos, good music, dancing and laughter. No violence, very safe.

  Comments: Frederico and Marcela’s place was extremely clean and very organized. Actually, it’s probably the most organized Airbnb that I’ve ever stayed at. Check-in and communication between the hosts was also excellent. Having said this, I don’t feel like the area is very safe. I have lived in Brazil for 5 years and am generally able to distinguish “safe” areas from “unsafe” areas and I do have to say that the area the loft is in, isn’t the safest. For you to have an idea, several Uber’s and Taxi drivers refused to go up the hill to drop me off because of the abundant number of assaults & robberies happening in the area. In addition, there are posters up all over the neighbourhood warning travelers about the real possibility of being robbed. So, getting around by foot especially at night is challenging and finding an Uber is equally as difficult. If you are okay with this, though, I’d recommended Frederico and Marcela’s place. The view is spectacular.

  Comments: Stay here if at all possible. My apartment had everything I needed for home away in Rio. Located in a quiet neighbourhood it takes only 25 mins to ipanema beach. Not overrun with tourist, safe and local shop owners look out for the guest at this apartment complex. My host communicated with efficiently via the Airbnb app and via text message throughout my stay... even during off hours. I’m coming back to Brazil and choosing to stay here again.   Comments: O apartamento estava limpíssimo, com cozinha, banheiro, e máquina de lavar (Website hidden by Airbnb) para nós! Não podia ser melhor, um charme! O “SugarLoft” é muito bem localizado, com lindas vistas, gerenciado pela Amélia, para o casal de donos Frederico e Marcela, que vivem em Barcelona, mas são muito presentes em comunicação por mensagens e emails; todo mundo de enorme gentileza, recomendo! O prédio não tem elevador, mas para quem tem uma longa jornada sentados num carro, como no nosso caso, as escadas são especialmente bem vindas. À princípio estávamos um pouco hesitantes quanto a segurança do bairro, mas ficamos felizes em saber que rua está bem policiada e que não tem havido ocorrências indesejáveis. Nosso carro ficou na rua, sem problema, os 3 dias que ficamos hospedados e foi fácil achar vaga para estacionar bem próximo do prédio. Amélia, que vive na vizinhança, nos disse que anda pelas redondezas sem preocupação e que devíamos apenas evitar a Celaron, uma escadaria para o Centro, durante a noite, sentimos esta segurança. A experiência foi memorável e pretendemos voltar!

  Comments: O apartamento é novo, lindo e muito limpo. Exatamente como na foto. Houve um pequeno desconforto com relação ao valor que paguei e o valor que o apartamento estava anunciado no Airbnb na hora que fiz a reserva mas foi tudo resolvido, nos colocaram num apartamento com uma vista linda e que corria um vento delicioso. Eu tive uma necessidade especial com relação ao horário de check-in que foi prontamente atendida. Recomendo muito os apartamentos de Frederico & Marcela e com certeza voltarei se houver oportunidade. PS: foi um pouco difícil de chamar Uber de lá então, se precisarem de transporte, é melhor pedir com um tempo de antecedência e tentar outros aplicativos de táxi mesmo (foi como eu consegui).

  Comments: Nous avons séjourné dans le studio de Marcela qui se trouve à Santa Teresa durant une petite semaine. Les lieux étaient propres et accueillants avec tout le confort et le nécessaire dont nous avions besoin. L’immeuble est sécurisé et est privé (uniquement voyageurs Airbnb a priori). Juste en bas il y a un petit commerce alimentaire qui dépanne bien. Santa Teresa se trouve à environs 30min de l’aéroport de Rio, 20-25min de Copacabana et Ipanema et à 5min de Lapa, quartier animé (vendredi et samedi) le soir avec des restaurants et des bars très sympas. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la réactivité et l’accueil que nous avons eu et retournerons avec plaisir chez Marcela a notre prochain séjour à Rio de Janeiro.

  Comments: O local é muito limpo e estiloso. A anfitriã, Amelia, é de uma delicadesa e dedicação que supera as expectativas. Se quiser um deck privado, preste atenção para reservar o apartamento correto, pois existe a opção de deck compartilhado, que é mais barata. Também observe que somente algumas acomodações tem vista para o Pão de Açúcar, que é belíssima! As acomodações de frente para a rua serão muito confortáveis, mas não terão a vista do quarto, apenas das áreas comuns. O entorno é super agradável e tem opções de comida e boa música! O acesso aos andares é somente de escada, então, se for para algum andar distante do Térreo, leve isso em consideração caso algum hóspede tenha limitações para se locomover. No mais, a atenção da Amelia merece destaque por sua gentileza e carinho. Além do café da manhã no Cultivar, que fica bem pertinho e tem um pão de queijo delicioso!
