Neighborhood Overview: While Şişli (read as Sheshly) is often regarded as one of the upscale districts in Istanbul, there’s a lot more to it than just 5 star hotels and shopping malls. For a taste of Turkish culture, you can find impressive museums, churches and mosques all around this opulent district. Going to Şişli really is an experience of contemporary Turkish life. You can see; Atatürk Museum (Atatürk Müzesi), located on Halaskargazi Street, Atatürk Museum is a three story house museum painted in pink. Atatürk, the founder and the first President of the Republic of Turkey, first used the house for storage and residential purposes, but it was later changed to a museum to exhibit some of the personal belongings of Atatürk and depict his lifetime through historical documents and photographs. Since Atatürk did actually live and work in the house during significant historical events like the War of Independence and invasion of Istanbul, you will have a true experience of Atatürk’s life and Turkish history

Notes: I have two cats named Leo & Lisa. Leo is a 9 years old Siamese cat, I can tell that he is very friendly, he can come and sit on your lap after a few hours. Lisa is a 3 years old stray cat. She was in a very bad physical and psycological situation when I have adopted her from a vet. Now she is very happy and cool. You will not see her most of the time since she does not like to talk to the strangers :)

Transit: ıf you come by plane to Istanbul Ataturk International airport (in the European sideof İstanbul) or Sabiha Gokcen Airport (in the Asian side of istanbul) the first thing you need to do is to get Turkish Liras – If you don’t have Turkish liras on you, use one of the many ATMs in the airport to withdraw some cash money. None of the transportation options mentioned below will accept credit cards, foreign currencies or big Turkish lira notes. Make sure you have some 5, 10, 20 or maximum 50 notes handy. Make sure that you write down or print out the address of my flat. Istanbul is a huge city. So, if you need help, just hand over the piece of paper. It’s not unusual for a taxi driver to ask for directions at traffic lights or call me. You can take Havabus. It is a municipality owned reliable airport shuttle service. You can find them outside the airport terminal, in the second lane. Every half hour, between 04:00 and 01:00, one of their buses heads for Taksim. The current pick-up and drop-o
