Neighborhood Overview: The neighborhood is safe and still has the local 'Hawaiian Aloha' feeling of welcome. Most restaurants and shops close, or are winding down at 9pm - 9.30pm so an earlier dinner/shopping is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Notes: This is our first year so until we get familiar with the working of the website our long time friend has agreed to take care of our bookings through the AirBNB website. She also oversees our condo for us and will communicate with you from your first request/Instabook and will be available to communicate with you throughout your stay! She has full access to rates and policies with our permission and can contact us directly if necessary. She lives on Island and is more up to date with Island Happenings than we are in Iowa:) Some guests have asked about an additional 'resort fee'... There is not a resort fee on this entire property. All registered guests in any of the condos on this property have FREE access to all amenities unless otherwise stated by individual owners. There are quiet hours throughout the complex from 10pm to 8am and we do ask that you respect those for everyone's pleasure. There are also designated smoking areas towards the exit of the property for your convenience

Transit: Transportation is VERY limited on the Island. A rental car is recommended from the airport so you can drive back to the airport for your departure. Most of the major Car Rental Companies are at the airport with a shuttle service to the Car Rental from curb-side at the Airport. There is a local trolley service available and that schedule is available from the Main Lobby.

Access: Our whole unit is at your private pleasure. There is an entrance/exit front door through the banana grove and an entrance/exit lanai door to the lawn and relaxing cool pool which is just 20 feet away! You will be able to enjoy the whole condo without intrusion as there is no daily housekeeping on site, therefore we supply all our own personal towels and bedding for the duration of your stay! For hygiene reasons we do not supply beach toys, snorkels or fins. We ask that you also please keep the screen doors closed at all times to prevent insects entering. When cooking we would appreciate you opening the front and lanai doors but keeping screen doors closed. This helps to keep the unit ventilated. At all other times please enjoy the A/C at no extra cost. Mahalo.

Interaction: We live in Iowa for the Spring, Summer and Fall and return to our condo for the winter to get away from the snow:) We do have an on Island contact who will be available for emergency support and any questions you may have during your stay. Her telephone number and more details are available in the unit once you check in.

Comments: My stay at Edna’s space was amazing! It’s the perfect place for 1 person or a couple. It was very nice and clean. You’re on the ground level, so getting your things in and out couldn’t be any easier. And the location was perfect. You can walk along the paths that are surrounded by beautiful flowers, and in less than a minute, you’re at Alii Drive and the ocean. You can go left or right from there, and either way will take you to wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, and places to get a drink.

Comments: We enjoyed our stay here. It was close to the beach, shopping, dining, etc. There is a full size fridge as well as a smaller fridge in the living area and had kitchen amenities that were not expected including foil and plastic wrap. It could have used a proper knife - I was unable to find anything larger than a steak knife resulting in some difficulty cutting a melon and other latter items. Not critical but would be nice. Overall, it was a nice experience- close to everything without the traffic noice of Ali’i.

Comments: We stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The location is in the Kona central area, close to shops, restaurants, bars. Very convenient for us who is first time visiting the Big Island. Edna and her management team was very responsive and great help giving us flexible supports, early check in, late check out, additional coffee pot. Wished we could stay longer, will need to come back. Good place to stay, good value!

Comments: We loved our stay at Edna’s. It is in a very convenient location. The water is across the road at the back end of property there were so many places close by to eat and drink and the local trolley bus was right out the back. We don’t drive and Edna’s place was perfect as everything was nearby. The place is very cute and perfect for a getaway. Thank you again Edna for a wonderful stay.

Comments: I had a wonderful stay at Edna’s during my trip to Kona! This charming unit is very clean, cozy, comfortable, and short stroll to downtown beachfront. There’s a gate from the complex that leads directly to Ali’i Dr, where all the shops, cafes and restaurants are. I love how central the location is and within 5minutes I’m at the beach for a swim, or getting a massage right across the street (Theresa is amazing at Ka Lima Hana Kukui!) The farmers market is also next door on Wed/Thurs, where you can buy fresh fruit and coffee to take back home! There is a coffee pot with filters so you can brew your very own Kona coffee to enjoy every morning! There’s also a patio outside with relaxing and quaint poolside/garden views. All the towels and linens very clean and fresh, the bed was plush, cozy and very comfortable- a real “home away from home.” There is a nice AC in the unit so you feel refreshed after the hot tropical weather! My friend came over to enjoy it as well, as where she was staying, her place did not have AC- it makes a big difference! The hot shower/water pressure is also great in the unit and replenished me after several days of scuba diving trips. I went with Jack’s Diving Locker in the complex next door (super convenient and their charter is one of the best on the island- check out their reviews on Yelp) The first evening we ate at Huggo’s just a short stroll by the waterfront. Delicious food, beautiful view and great service! I received a very warm, courteous and clear communication from Jeanette, with very easy check-in and out. I could not have asked for a better, more comfortable location to stay in Kona! I’ll definitely come back and stay again! Mahalo!

Comments: What a great place to base our big island adventure! Close to everything in Kona yet able to have nice quiet poolside evenings. Within walking distance of Kona night life and great restaurants!

Comments: Cute clean place in a very good location. We used the BBQ several times for our dinners. The kitchen and utensils allow us to cook simple meals for breakfast and dinner. Would stay there again.

Comments: Edna's place is located in a very convenient area, very close to restaurants, convenience stores, and the beach. Her studio is very cozy and very clean. The kichenette area came in very handy. My husband and I really enjoyed the pool area. Jeanette was very helpful and responsive to my messages. I would definitely stay here again!

Comments: Be honest, before this trip I was debating with myself for a while if I should do luxury resort or adorable bnb, and I am glad I sticked with Edna’s studio!! The photos in airbnb tell all stories and even better. The room is wide and comfortable, amenities are amazing: Swimming pool is small but enough to let me enjoy an afternoon, lots of Hawaiian style plants around..Needless to say how great the location is!! Restaurants and beach are walkable!! I had very great time for these 3 nights and can’t wait to come back again!!

Comments: I stayed here in June and it was great! Pictures and description are accurate. Check in very easy with the front desk. Staff I met were friendly. The complex is quiet and even being by (conveniently) by the pool there were no noise issues. Super convenient location for the beach, and car not necessary once you are there. Parking on site was never a problem either. I referred a minor maintenance issue to the manager and was responded to immediately which was excellent. The cooktop and blender were a bonus, it was lovely having a large fridge for all the beautiful fruit and veggies you can get next door at the farmers market. Thoroughly enjoyable stay thanks!

Comments: With this being our first time to the islands our nerves were s not high regarding the mainland news due to possible vog. As an asthmatic I was nervous. Jeanette (property manager) eased my mind with some government links that list air quality. Which was an easy comparison to Los Angeles at the time. My plan was to go forward with my vacation and bring my nebulizer. I’m happy to report that I never needed it! Even traveling the entire island, I was fine! Check in was easy! The front desk answered all my questions without problems. Along with how to get to the pool area and laundry room. Immediately we noticed that the grounds, landscaping were well kept and clean. We loved the sign for the feral-tame cats outside too. They were so friendly to see on my early morning runs. What was a surprise was how well stocked the condo was for our visit. From Saran Wrap, coffee filters, grocery bag in the closet, cooler for drinks, extra towels for the pool and the 3 pillows each were nice too! We were worried about the smaller bed as we’re used to a king size at home. The mattress pad and pillows were clean and comfortable! One day I wanted a nap to stretch out, I used the rollaway bed in the couch. It was great! Everything was so clean! The added surprise snacks were a thoughtful touch and special treat too! It made us both smile! The central location to the touristy stuff was fun to see at night. I enjoyed the people watching and the close sea wall. Yet the drives we took to Hilo to see the waterfalls, along with seeing Mauna Kea-the surprising wild goats were awesome, driving across the lava land gave us awesome pictures to get to Kekaha state park, seeing the painted church, visiting black sand beach, and my favorite was swimming-snorkeling literally with the turtles. Which I did right down the street at the iron man swim spot at Kailua-Kona bay! Just walking right from Edna’s place! As an airline agent in the travel industry for almost 12 years, I always looked at Hawaii as being overrated. I was wrong. I get it and I will be back. The big Island is breathtakingly beautiful. This condo added to our view of this special place. We will be back and hopefully at our new home away from home at Edna’s. Mahalo!

Comments: Edna's place was exactly as described. It was a very easy check-in process and the front desk was very courteous and helpful. The place was very clean and comfortable. The location was terrific as we could walk to all the restaurants we wanted to visit in Kona and it was only a short drive to many of the excursions that we took. Furthermore, Jeanette was very helpful and responsive. We forgot some important items while checking out and she arranged for us to pick them up later at the front desk. Overall, we had a terrific time and very much enjoyed our stay at Edna's place!

Comments: We stayed for several days here. The location was great and you're just steps away from great food, a farmers market and a little beach, but once you step onto the property you don't even hear or see any of the tourist hustle. Check-in was simple, the pool was great and there's a few working cats on the property (and at least one was super friendly and loved attention), some geckos hanging out and the occasional mongoose. The unit was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and we definitely enjoyed our stay.

Comments: Edna's place is all about location. It is right in the heart of Kona, easy walking to so much. There are many great restaurants and shops just minutes away. The unit is located in a nice location within the complex, looking out to the pool, yet it was very quiet. The unit is small, but it worked just fine for two of us. Jeanette was a great help in communicating directions, check-in, check-out, and local attractions! We would definitely return here again!

Comments: The pool and hot tub were wonderful after a long day. Beautiful home and best amenities.

Comments: Jeanette, who manages the place for Edna, is truly a rare host on airbnb--incredibly attentive, forthright, caring and sticks to her word. She was amazing, as was the place. Highly recommended, and we are incredibly honest when it comes to calling out problem hosts/places on airbnb. When you stay in Hawaii, it's difficult to find a "bug-free" home (as bug free as it can be in Hawaii), and this place was great. On top of that, Jeanette was always very helpful with tips/suggestions about the area, and sincerely cared about how our stay was. We would definitely stay here again. Great value!

Comments: What a little gem! A very well equipped studio (full frig, plus a beer one too!) that also had a very comfortable queen size bed. Located steps away from Kona's waterfront & the Farmer's Market. It's on the ground floor of the Kona Islander Inn - so no stairs - and we found it to be quite quiet. The lanai overlooks the well maintained pool, garden & barbecue areas - very nice for morning coffee. Would most definitely stay here again!

Comments: My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in August to attend a family wedding. The location is fantastic -- steps from the waterfront, close to shops and restaurants, and next door to the Farmer's Market, which had the most amazing selection of fresh tropical fruits I'd ever seen. I still dream about that fruit. The place is perfect for a couple and has everything you need to be comfortable -- queen bed, sofa, lanai overlooking the pool, full-size fridge (and mini fridge next to the sofa), coffee pot, microwave, and a laundry room for the facility. No stovetop or oven, but with all the restaurants nearby, it's an easy walk to great food (and easy storage for leftovers once you get home). Beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler is even provided should you want to spend time watching the waves! Jeannette, who manages the place, is delightful, and really quick to respond when we had questions about laundry and other details. The information she provided was excellent, and it was super easy to check in and make ourselves at home when we arrived. We really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely book here again!

Comments: What a gem! Perfect for a couple and right in the heart of Kona village. The surroundings are so lush and it’s peace and quiet as soon as you return. Perfect spot to explore Hawaii Island in each direction. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and you can walk everywhere. We hired a car and there was always an available parking space whenever we returned. We enjoyed sitting outside, overlooking the pool with a sundowner and a swim and spa at the end of a busy day exploring the Island. (Check out the Octopus farm, Kona coffee farm, kayaking to the James Cook memorial and swimming with spinner dolphins and Manta Rays with Wicked Wahine). We had a ball and will be back to explore the Volcano National Park which reopened the day we left.
