We love to meet people and learn a different way of seeing the world, from perspectives different to our own. Looking forward to meeting diverse people from all countries and cultures. Space: Your room overlooks a lovely courtyard with potted garden. A very bright sunny room, which is cosy & comfortable- even though you are in the inner city it has been said by guests you could be in the country because you can hear the birds and sit inside or out side to view the peaceful garden. In the house also lives our small Maltese dog who sleeps most of the day. Our house is our home, eclectically decorated, cosy and comfortable. If your preference is for the new, sleek, slick and shiny, we would love to host you but please note our tastes are a little more rustic. There are places to sit outside of your room. You’re welcome to sit in the kitchen,sunroom or courtyard – these are shared spaces, with us.

Neighborhood Overview: Surry Hills - has been rated as one of the top places to visit in the world it is a very unique and old suburb full of history. Many events that happen in Sydney are only a short distance away. As are the main Art Galleries, theartes, cinemas, CBD, & the Sydney Opera House. The area is know for its great cafes, bars and restaurants. We are a 7 minute walk from one of Sydney's biggest gay hubs - Oxford Street. The famous Sydney Mardi Gras is an annual event in the first weekend of March, bringing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere to Surry Hills.

Notes: The Room is for one person only- There is no option for extra guest. No other guests / friends allowed in the house before consulting us. Definitely No Drugs/No Smoking /No heavy or excess drinking of alcohol. Please do not leave food in your room. The climate in Sydney attracts insects please leave in fridge or kitchen cupboard, please eat in the kitchen, dinning room or garden. Please no washing clothes in bathroom (you can use the laundry for this, happy to provide laundry soap, etc.) Wifi - The house has unlimited down load - We use one of the Major Telecomunications companies in Australia - Some times the wifi is slower when using tablets/ ipads -( not sure why) - Other parts of the house the wifi works well no problems with speed.

Transit: Surry Hills is quite central, and well serviced by public transport. There is a 3 minute walk to busses to the CBD and a 7 minute walk to busses headed for the east (Bondi, Coogee and other famous beaches). We're a 7 minute (downhill) walk from Central station - Sydney's main railway station - for local and long distance trains and buses. Railway Square, just behind Central station is a hub for busses heading for the West - Newtown, etc. You can walk to many attractions on foot, Botanical Gardens, Opera House etc.

Access: There is no access to a washing machine or dryer. There is a Laundromat 3 minute walk from our house. You are welcome to use the fridge or kitchen cupboards to store your snacks , takeaway food or drinks. Meals are not provided. No cooking of your own food available. No facility available to heat up food or prepare food. No microwave in the house. Surry Hills is a hub of café culture, with lots of great restaurants nearby.

Interaction: Let us know if you'd like some local knowledge of Surry Hills. This centrally located suburb is well serviced with public transport to some of Sydney's other distinctive neigbourhoods - we'd be happy to advise. There's always something to do in Sydney (hopefully free!) ask us for some ideas. When you arrive we will greet you and give you your key, and show you around the house. We don't own a car so are unable to pick you up from the airport etc. Though my husband is retired, we are active people, so we are usually in and out of the house all day.

House Rules: - Full Verification required - See air bnb policy for verifications - such as ID -Facial photo as per airbnb policy - one profile photo that shows your face. This is helpful so I know who to welcome into my home etc - Show a Robust Profile of your self as per air bnb policy - Hobbies etc Please make sure the doors are locked before leaving and make sure our dog has not been let out. No smoking in the house on the property - or garden or out side the house Meals are not provided - Light - breakfast toast & tea. You have use of the kitchen, storage are for your food etc - No cooking or preparation of meals in the Kitchen. You can store your take-away food in the fridge or cupboard - You can eat your take-away food in the Kitchen, dinning area or garden- Please do not eat takeaway food in your bed room.
