Comments: The stay was perfect. We spent a lot of time at the tide pools and the drive on beach road is spectacular. The kitchen was fully stocked and wonderful for cooking. Would definitely return.

Comments: We, a couple and single person, stayed at Brittany’s for 4 days. The house is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and the garden is awesome. Beautiful plants and flowers. If you leave your window open at night you hear the frogs which we loved. The house is located outside of town however it’s perfectly located if you would like to go and see the volcano. Seeing the lava flow at the Kilauea volcano was so epic. We had a great time here.

Comments: If you want to get an authentic feeling of living in a rainforest, this is the house for you. It has a beautiful set up and has a very warm and cozy feeling. We loved the soothing sounds of the rainforest through the night. The house can definitely use some minor improvements in terms of stocking some items (like sugar in the kitchen and soaps and shampoos in all bathrooms). But overall, well worth the price for the stay.

Comments: This was just what we needed - privacy, lush yard, no traffic noise. The covered parking and the laundry room were amenities that made the difference. Being on a second level made security and peace of mind easy. Lighting at night was great to pull in and walk up. Loved the cleanliness and the 2 full bathrooms. Very chill. Thanks!

Comments: We were staying at another house, which was bigger and cheaper, but due to volcanic activity we were evacuated from that house. The Airbnb agent contacted us and helped find for us a place, but since it was already 7 pm, we didn't have much choice so he found us this place that was posted to be good for 8 people. I didn't know it was only a 2 bedroom house so I said ok we will take it. Contacted the host and she said the house was not ready, but for us she would try to clean it up fast, which we really appreciate it. When we came they were waiting for us while finishing drying the towels for us. The House is located in a beautiful dead end with jungle trees around it, but at night its all dark, not a single light on a street. The House has 2 bedrooms and a very small living room, when the sofa bed is folded out there is almost no room to pass. Would not recommend sleeping on the sofa, its old, uncomfortable and stinky. For this reason I would only recommend groups up to 6 people to get this place, the dining table would maximum accommodate only for 6 people also. So this place would be great for up to 6 people, but for 8 people it was a nightmare... There were some bugs coming trough the door net, so do not keep the door open, the net doesn't shut tightly leaving gaps for bugs. We accidently broke the glass from the top of a small coffee table, we were honest about it and told them about it and included 40$ that we left for the replacement of the glass which seems reasonable. Later I was contacted and said the replacement would cost around 120$, they were very rude about it, called me names, and when I offered them to pay them their asking amount they were just continue being negative and ignored me. Would I go again to this place? not really after my experience with it, especially there are better choices around.

Comments: Nice private area. It is a rain forest and it is very humid with no AC. It was not unbareable and there were plenty of fans. Lovely sounds of the forest! My daughter loved the geckos in the house and around the yard. We we're very pleased with the beautiful surroundings. Much like a cabin, not so much like a hotel. We loved it.

Comments: Doug's place is really a house in the jungle! Here you can live completely undisturbed by people, but mind the frogs that quack as long as it is dark outside. The place wasn't as clean as I expect, but other than this, it was good. Doug is easy to get hold of and answered all of our questions quick and easy. The beds are good (we did not check the sofa bed), there is a lot of room and even some board games. If this sounds good to you, visit Doug's place

Comments: This location was exactly what we were looking for on the first half of our trip. We wanted a more authentic local/native experience and this was it. Totally private at the end of a dead-end street, and surrounded by thick, lush jungle. The house had everything we needed, plus much more. Lots of small appliances, tons of towels, pillows/bedding, and a fully appointed kitchen, plus house geckos that kept our son entertained. We used the house as our home base for exploring the Hilo side of the island. A rental car is a must, and the covered parking was an extra bonus, because it rains often on this side of the island. Doug was super friendly, and a great resource for information and tips. We would stay here again!

Comments: Doug communicated very quickly. The house was very clean and well stocked with cooking and eating supplies which my family really appreciated as we cooked most of our meals. The location is nice and secluded, but not isolated. The house accommodated my family of five very well for the week.

Comments: Great place for a family! Kitchen is really well stocked with cooking supplies, utensils, food staples, etc. Made making meals quick and easy. Lots of towels and bedding, and two full bathrooms with tubs (if you have bath age kids like me this was a huge plus). Doug was super thoughtful and left a big basket of toys for my baby. Quiet, private place and was a great location to see both Hilo and Volcano area.
