Comments: Teri was so welcoming and inviting! Her house is SO close to a very quiet beach, and literally in the middle of Lahaina. Thank you so much for everything Teri!!

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at Teri's place. She is a friendly and inviting host! The location cannot beat... just one block from the beach and near the center of town. We adored all the animals. That was an added bonus to our wonderful stay! Teri, we hope to return again. Thanks for everything.

Comments: Teri is super friendly and the room was very nice and clean you have your own bathroom upstairs and her place is right on the beach and seconds from downtown Lahaina. You are also very close to the resort hotels. Teri was very kind and provided us with whatever we needed I would defiantly stay again and recommend her place .

Comments: What a great time. Teri is awesome and her place was great. Beautiful beach just steps away. 5 min walk into Lahaina. The turtles and birds were so cool. Inexpensive and the best location. Love it.

Comments: Teri was great to work with- especially since we booked rather last minute and was delayed a whole day due to flight issues. Her house is in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. The ocean is so close that the waves lull you to sleep. Each morning we woke up to birds singing. I only wish we had longer to spend in Hawaii!!

Comments: Teri was wonderful! Very good host, nice room, great location! I also took advantage of Max's laundry service, and it was awesome not having to spend time messing with that. Great choice for a West Maui stay!

Comments: Teri and her assistant Max were friendly and welcoming to me and my travel friend, Dani, and there is a lovely and quiet beach a very short walk from the house! What a nice location in Lahaina! There is a mini fridge and other kitchenette-type things for guests to use on the front covered porch. The accommodations in the room we rented appeared makeshift as the bed was set up in the literal middle of the room. The bed was comfortable and had clean linens; I pushed it up against the desk for a makeshift headboard. Although we had a half-bath to ourselves, it didn't feel private as you can easily hear everything from the other bathroom through the large shower that connects the two half-baths. I avoided using our half bath when the other guest was showering...I didn't want it to be awkward for anyone, including me. It was quite warm upstairs despite the ceiling fans in the room. Lastly, some of the animals had issues that I didn't want to dwell on while on vacation, and most of the cats were feral; not what I was expecting.

Comments: Teri's place is comfortable, clean, and we were able to walk to dinner & a fun bar. A great location & atmosphere for a relaxing trip in Maui. The shared shower room is interesting; you may want to ask for specifics if you're an extremely private / paranoid person since it's sort of like sharing a bathroom wall.
-
Reviewer: Jon
Comments: Teri is WONDERFUL, and a very gracious host, but the accommodations weren't really our style. There are two bedrooms, each with a connected toilet/sink area, which both have glass doors that lead to a giant shower area shared by both guests. Wife and I went to check out the shower (who doesn't want a shower after an 11 hour plane ride?), and we saw our neighbors on the other side through the slit between the frosted glass door and the other bathroom. No thanks, prefer my showers in private. Anyway, if you're an adventurous person and you love animals, this is definitely for you. Just wasn't our style.

Comments: Had a pleasant stay at the Tortise and bird refuge. Terry and Max were friendly and helpful and I would definitely return again. The location was superb with an easy stroll into the center of Lahaina and even closer to a nice mall with Long's, Foodtown and many good eating choices. Right near the beach as well.

Comments: Many many many great things about staying with Teri and Max. Both were extremely welcoming and helpful during our entire time in Lahaina. I cannot say enough good things about the location of the house. Walking distance to the beach, essentially your backyard, walking distance to downtown Lahaina (less than a quarter mile). Parking was easy, and the animals were fun to watch and interact with. There were a couple of issues with the room when we got there but were remedied very quickly (screen had holes, was repaired same day; room bit stuffy, was given a fan same day). The shared bathroom is an interesting experience but if you have any common sense its completely fine. The huge shower room is a great plus. If you're worried about the cats, birds or turtles, they don't go in your room. Great Place, thanks again Teri and Max!

Comments: Teri & Max were friendly, helpful, & simply lovely people. The room was just what we needed, & the shared bathroom no bother. We never even saw the other guests as everyone was out & about most of the time. The beach nearby is perfect, not overcrowded & there are some trees to sit under if you are not a sunbaster. Easy to walk into Lahaina or to the supermarket for supplies. Easy to get the bus. We would stay here again, and recommend it to others. Of course, love all of the animals!

Comments: Teri was very welcome and she was very nice to us. You will love her place if you are an animal lover! She has 12 turtles, 6 cats and 4 birds. All animals were very kind. The room was very clean and cozy. We didn't get access to Internet but we enjoyed the stay with sea wind and electronic fan. The bathroom was very clean, and Teri would prepare towels for you! Max was quite nice to us as well, like a second master of the house! I think I would select Teri's home again if I got back to Maui!

Comments: Room was nice and clean, you do share a shower but that was not a problem. Teri is lovely and very welcoming, she has some Tortise and talking birds which are fun to see. Great location! short walk to beach and into town.

Comments: Fantastic location, close to everything. Snorkeling off the Mala pier is out of this world which is 5 minutes walking.

Comments: Teri was very welcoming and friendly, but definitely let you have your space when you wanted it. The location was fantastic--right next to a Buddhist temple my guidebook had mentioned, and just a short walk from both town and the bus stop. I felt that the foster animals and pets Teri has add to the experience, but even if animals aren't your thing I think you'd be fine, as they were all pretty laid back. Overall a great place to stay!

Comments: I was on Maui by myself without a car and Teri lives in the perfect spot: close to the beach, at walking distance to the lively center of Lahaina and the bus stop to reach the other beaches in the north west part of the island. The bedroom is pretty much comfortable with a lot of fans but without A/C. During the day it's very hot in there, but who wants to stay home when there are so many beautiful beaches? At night the ocean breeze makes it cooler and I didn't feel the need for A/C at all. The private toilet and the big walk-in shower made the rest very easy. The place is very quiet and although there are many animals on the property, it's clean. Teri lives with a lot of animals, they are free but separated from the inside of the house apart from the cats that you may find laying down in the living-room: not for you if u don't go well with cats or animals in general. Teri is a vibrant and outgoing person, she has a very strong personality and welcomes you in a very warm way. Ray, a male caretaker now in charge of the housekeeping, is a very discreet person that you hardly notice, although he shares a spot in the living room, just behind the sofa. A very positive experience that i would repeat if I went back to Maui

Comments: Teri was incredibly friendly and eager to help us become acclimated with the island. The location to the beach was absolutely perfect, and made for easy lazy afternoon naps on the sand. The room and bathroom were both meticulously clean. Although the room was very hot during the day, it cooled down significantly at night. The tortoises and birds made for a fun addition to our adventure in Maui.

Comments: Wonderful place to stay! Very welcoming and ideal location: beach, shopping, and restaurants. Between the privacy of my own room to traveling around the island I always enjoyed a relaxing moment in the terrace amongst the tortoises, birds and Wippie the friendliest dog! Great accommodation with the most helpful host. Can't wait to come back!

Comments: If you want to laugh and feel like home this is the place to be. Next to Baby Beach, very close to the center of Lahaina, comfortable, uncomplicated and fun. The house is big, room comfortable and the bathroom is also quite big and everything is clean My wife had some concerns about the shared shower due to some reviews but when we arrived, we realized there is nothing to worry about it, if my wife was not worried im sure no one has to be ;) . Teri provided us bath and beach towels, and also offers laudry service, which was useful after 8 days of travelling. Adam, is the housekeeper, he is kind, helpful and easygoing. Teri gave us some pineapple as welcome and baked some cookies yum! Wippit, Oscar and gang, Artie and mum?, the birds are so cute and fun. Thanks Teri and Adam for the nice moments and for making our last days in Maui unforgettable.

Comments: Fabulous place to stay in Lahaina. There was never a dull moment here, from BBQ's on the patio to puppy play time with Whippy! Most importantly, Teri was an amazingly friendly host who made me immediately feel like part of the family! Fun fact: The house was practically net-zero and very eco-friendly with its own vegetable garden and chicken coop out front!

Comments: The location was very convenient because we attended the Old Lahaina Luau that evening and were able to walk there. Pete and Adam (caretakers?) helped us check in and were very friendly and helpful. Adam showed us the chickens/chicks, aviary and tortoises. It was awesome of him to take the time to show and tell us all about the animals. When we arrived back from the luau, we were greeted with a yelling, cussing Terri who was apparently panicking about a potentially lost bird and was screaming at Adam. This was our first interaction with Terri. We went up to our room and Terri later came up and apologized. I understand she was upset but it's really not the impression you should give your guests and the cussing could certainly offend people. My mom was rather bothered by how she treated Adam during the whole interaction. We left early the next morning and were blocked in by the other guests' car but Adam and Pete quickly took care of it and we were not delayed. The room itself had personal photos which was a little weird and felt a little like you were intruding on someone's personal life but also had lots of travel/reference magazines and books, and fans which helped keep the room cool.

Comments: This beach house is a great destination for guests who are looking for no frills accommodation near the water and the lovely town of Lahaina! The two rooms upstairs have comfortable beds and a great shared shower, though you'll have to listen for the other guest in their part of the bathroom before you jump in the shower! The house itself is quite dusty and sandy, but it's a fun and eclectic place. The best part are the tortoises and the lovely lovely dogs! Terry was a welcoming host and her staff were helpful and very friendly! The only downsides were the gate into the property and the air conditioners. The gate is a pull close, obviously because of all the animals. It is a pain to close and lock every time you leave and unfortunately, the lock was right next to the garbage pile which had been sitting out in the heat for several days and really stunk! The air conditioners were also a bit of an issue. I initially started off in one room, but couldn't stay because it was too stifling hot. I moved rooms, but unfortunately had to pay the full cleaning price because I had sat on the bed and had used one of the face towels. I had asked if I could have the AC unit that was offered instead of changing rooms and paying the cleaning fee, but turns out it hasn't ever been installed and wasn't really an option. I moved to the second room, which was better, but still hot even with two fans going. Understandable given its hawaii after all, but it would have been great to have AC available and to have not been charged the full cleaning price for only staying a few min in the first room! All in all, the house was a fun and interesting experience in Lahaiana and a great price for someone who wants a beach close by and modest accommodations. Aloha!

Comments: Such a fun place to stay in Maui and really convenient for the beach and the centre of Lahiana. Teri is a fantastic character and has a great passion for animals including the many she has. The caretakers Adam and Pete were very helpful and made me feel at home. The lodgers Jolenna and Ivan were also lovely. The best part was being invited to share thanksgiving with them all which was loads of fun (even if very drunk on my part!) and the food they made was amazing. Would definately come back.

Comments: Kaimana's place is THE place to be in Maui. Walking distance to downtown Lahaina (great restaurants, galleries) and Baby Beach is literally RIGHT BEHIND her house. Surprisingly, there is a very large Buddhist temple behind the house and a very large gong, which you just have to try out! Kaimana herself is very kind and approachable - she's lived on Maui for 30 years so has a lot of good insider info. There are a lot of animals onsite (tortoises, 2 dogs, some inside cats, chickens, pigeons), which is cool if you like animals, maybe not so much if you don't. I happen to love them and thought it was pretty cool - especially the tortoises, which are enormous! Overall property was quiet and relaxing, room and living space was clean, the shower was AMAZING! Her staff was also very friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. I stayed there with a friend for 3 nights. We would always come back after a day of exploring to chit chat with Kaimana, Pete (surfer/cockatoo-trainer extraordinaire), and Adam (zoologist/expert genealogist for McDonald's cartoon characters). I'd go back in a minute!

Comments: Kai. was a great host. She was good at communication before I booked and her upbeat attitude convinced me to make the reservation. The room is a nice part of a fun house and it's super close to the beach. I enjoyed the place, the animals, and her helpers. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Lahaina. Mahalo!

Comments: We were welcomed in and introduced to all the people and the animals that were present. The atmosphere was bustling but relaxed. We enjoyed hanging out with our hosts and chatting with them. They gave us great tips of places to go and showed us all about the critters. It is a short, safe walk to get to Downtown Lahiana and to get to the beach. The shower is gigantic and the room was private despite the shared shower. The room and bathroom were clean with plenty of room to unpack. This stay was wonderful and it really set a great mood for our first night on Maui.

Comments: My 8 year old daughter and I had an excellent evening at Kaimana. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet, and we slept great. We really enjoyed interacting with the animals, especially the tortoises. My daughter really loved the experience. She loves animals. We experienced the kind of attention and assistance that one would receive from their own family. The staff was perfect for a perfect evening. Thank you. We walked a short 5 minute walk to Front Street (local historic oceanfront downtown) where we enjoyed an excellent pizza dinner oceanside followed by a stroll down Front Street. I'll remember this night. Thank you again.

From sweety the cockatoo to the many turtles large and small, we had such a great experience hanging out with a fun group of animals and humans alike! The room was spacious and the house is steps from the beach-could not ask for anything better. Easy to walk into town and old lahaina luau is an easy walk as well. Highly recommend for laid back vibe but also super unique!

Comments: Fantastic trip! Felt more like a house guest rather than just a client. Lots of animals (cats, dogs, amorous tortoises, doves, pigeons, cockatoos); you must be an animal lover to stay there. Was impressed the place did NOT smell like kitty litter with 5 indoor cats! Very laid back. Teri, Adam and Pete are great and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Had planned to travel around a bit more, but spent most of the time on Baby Beach (even saw whales) since it was so close. Walking distance to downtown Lahaina so you don’t have to worry about parking. I highly recommend and will probably stay there again!

Comments: Our experience with in Lahaina with this wonderful host was remarkable! As many of the posts mention this house is extremely clean and is very accommodating. There are two rooms upstairs with private bathrooms connected by a shared shower. The house is in a great location for walking to many different sites throughout Lahaina and has enough room for parking in case you want to drive around the island. The host and her staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. If you don't mind a shared shower and human/animal interaction Stay Here!

Comments: Kaimana was very welcoming when my friend and I arrived after a day of setbacks, and responded quickly to my last minute reservation and any questions thereafter. There is no doorbell to check in so arrival is communicated through text messaging. The animals on the property are so wonderful to see, the price includes a mini petting zoo admission! Good location and easy walk to old Lahaina district while being far enough to keep away from any noise.

Comments: Kaimana was accommodating to my wacky check-in times, kind, and welcoming upon arrival. Every AirBnB is different so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was welcomed kindly and my room was great. The room doesn't have AC so if it's a big deal to you, I'd maybe look elsewhere but there were tons of fans and they worked great. The animals and staff are amazing as well. I woke up the next morning super early, some of the staff was awake and we got to play with the turtles and birds. Even if just for a few minutes it's therapeutic and fun. I'd probably stay here again.

Comments: Kaimana's Airbnb is a gem in Lahaina, located literally 1 (not even) min walk from the beach and 5 min walk from Front st. Kaimana, her staff and tenants are friendly and genuine, I felt right at home the first day, having so many animals there made it for a really relaxed and laid back atmostphere. The beach is great snorkling place and sunbathing. After staying at Kaimana's for 1 week, I would not think about booking a hotel and will come back there every time. I originally chose the place for its location, the people there made my memorable!

Comments: I highly recommend the Tortoise and Bird Refuge in Lahaina. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to check out West Maui before heading down to the south and east side of the island. We were looking for a comfortable place to stay close to beaches that we wanted to see and that wasn't too expensive, and this was exactly what we were looking for. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our flight was delayed so we weren't able to check in until after midnight and the staff was accommodating. The house is a block from a great beach and a short drive from all the nice beaches in West Maui. Our room was comfortable, and it was fun seeing all the animals. We had our own bathroom, with a shared jack and jill style shower, which worked fine for us.

Comments: My hostess gave me a key on a lanyard ready to keep handy for coming and going. She gave me a brief but thorough tour of the property and it inhabitants. My room was comfortable and spacious; the animals were all sweethearts and fun company - along with their human momma, Kaimana! I felt relaxed and at ease either spending time in my room or sitting on the shaded patio with new friends. The location is perfect; I heard ocean waves from my bedroom; a 60-second walk to Baby Beach and a short walk to charming downtown Lahaina. Renting a scooter from Cafe Cafe expanded my adventure to beachfront hotels/walkways (~2 miles up the coast) & made parking a snap!

Comments: My first impression with the home were the stairs, the carpet was very worn or rather seemed to be "pecked" away from birds, so I did wonder what I had booked myself into. However, carpet aside, the house and grounds, and various animals were kept immaculate, and my room was more than adequate and very comfortable. Kiamana's home is located very well, close to a great restaurant, MALA OCEANS, the Cannery shops for ABC shop & Maui Bus, a pleasant walk to Lahaina and a stones throw from the beach. It was great to have access to wifi 24/7, which was available in my room and throughout house. The home is in a quiet area, good for sleeping, and lots of fresh air through the open windows, especially at night, when the breezes come up. During the afternoon, the room can be quite hot, but mostly I was out exploring or beaching. Kiamana is a great host, MAKES THE BEST COFFEE -Percolated- in all the USA, that I have tasted anyway, I dislike American coffee normally, give me expresso/Italian anyday, but Kiamana's well this is definitely the best! I was made to feel welcome, could relax in the lounge or garden area, had access to a small refrigerator and equipment to make food if required. This was my Introduction to AirB&B, and if this stay is indicitive of the accommodation available I shall be staying again.

Comments: Kaimana and the staff at the refuge were very welcoming and friendly, helping us to feel at home immediately. The refuge was a lovely place to stay in Maui, the location is absolutely perfect, right next to baby beach and within walking distance to Lahaina front street. It was fantastic to stay with all the animals, and despite there being so many animals, the accommodation was very clean. The room could get a bit hot during the day, but we were usually out around that time. With the fans in the room it was a nice temperature during the night.

Comments: The stay at Tortise and bird refuge was the best choice ever! Great, welcoming people in amazing location, just few steps to the ocean and neighbour to a budhist temple! Thanks to Kaimana, Seth and Gail I felt like home with friends, we gathered together for warm dinner meals, thank you Gail so much for that! and morning coffee with amazing animals all around.. And very clean at the same time! You wouldn't say there were animals, so clean everywhere at the property.. The room was great, exactly as described, very comfortable bed and definitely no bed bags! And Seth took me to the best spots to swim with turtles! I definitely recommend to stay there! Thank you so much for beautiful experience!

Waking up to pet a happy dog in the morning ... there is nothing better. The accommodations were exactly as described. No air conditioning, but tons of fans in the bedroom - so I'd avoid if you'd prefer otherwise. This place is no frills. Simply a great, safe, comfortable place to rest your head for the night. With the best (animal) roommates ever!

Comments: What a fun gem in Lahaina! I stayed here for one night but wished I could have stayed longer. Kaimana was a lady with a lot of spunk- she was so refreshing to be around! The room was big and had a large, comfortable bed. It was a really easy place to stay. The room was ready for me with a pitcher of ice water and some limes- such a cute touch! Additionally, it was equipped with plenty of Maui magazines, books to read, and great wifi. Just as the post said, you do have your own bathroom with the exception of the shared shower. All of the workers that I met were great guys who showed me around the property and told me about the animals there (don't yell at them too much, Kaimana ;) - they are awesome!). It was also SO close to the beach (steps) and walking distance to downtown Lahaina, the Cannery Mall, and the Old Lahaina Luau. If I had stayed on Maui longer, I absolutely would have come back.

Place was super clean and organized. You have your own bathroom but share the shower. Wasn't at all an issue. Nice getting to sit outside and talk with other house mates. Location is awesome. Steps from the beach and walking distance to Lahaina's downtown. There are 5 cats but they stay inside and don't go in the rooms. Im highly allergic and didn't have any problems over my 3 day stay. Comments: My hosts Pete, Sam, and Seth were very welcoming as I arrived worn from my travel. Pete greeted me with a pitcher of ice water for my room and made sure throughout my stay that he was available in case I had any questions or concerns. He was a real gentleman offering to lend a helping hand whenever he saw the opportunity. Seth offered to show me adventuring opportunities if i wanted, and Adam was friendly and nice to talk to. Besides making me feel comfortable in their home as a guest, the hosts tended to the cleaning and the care of the animals and the physical environment with great professionalism, which gave me a feeling of well being seeing that the animals were so well cared for. The word that stands out in my mind as how to best describe the attitude by which kaimana and her staff take care of the refuge and the guests is "dedication". I look forward to going back to kaimana's on my return trips to Maui.

Comments: This was an unforgettable stay. I LOVED the location! And what I loved even more were the animals! And the guys helping out were outstanding. Super nice, great to talk to, and really helpful too. I had such a pleasant stay. It's a 30 second walk to the beach closest by and 20 minute walk to Front street shopping, and the banyan tree courtyard and everything. Really easy to get around by car and they go out of their way to help you and give you tips. You even get a tour to get to know the animals! They all took my heart away, particularly Oscar and Brave, two of the kitties. This place was impossibly clean, despite so many animals living in and around it. It's a blast, it's in a great area, and I would no doubt stay here when I'm back in Maui, no question!

They were there throughout our whole stay and were really nice and helpful with any questions we had for them. The animals, wow, they were truly something. Their dogs, cats, turtles, birds, talking and super entertaining parrots, all made for an even more memorable stay. We were only a 10 minute walk from a historic town of Lahaina, which we enjoyed walking to and from every time. It has lots of cool shops and all kinds of restaurants and breakfast places, and of course they are all on the beach! We loved Maui, and felt like we stayed with family. The house is in walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants. Super artsy with tons of awesome galleries. Comments: Thank you Kaimana, Kim and Seth! Maui has now become my top vacation destination thanks to the great accommodations and the atmosphere that You created. The room is nicely appointed and it felt like private quarters. I could hear the ocean from my room, see beautiful sunrise skies, and even see the Buddha statue from the nearby Judo mission. My room even had a small “office” with a desk. I also liked all the exotic animals in the refuge. And coffee in the morning is a huge plus in my book. The location is perfect, cannot be beaten – 10 seconds walk and I was on the beach! It is also close to the supermarket, restaurants, shops and the Historic Old Town of Lahaina. Follow her advices if you want to enjoy the best, also when she gives you the time to wake up to see the sunrise on the volcano! The room was clean and there was a common shower, but really not a problem: you can lock the bathroom's door if you need. You can use your own restroom and shared showerwoom with other guest. The room is generally clean except fans. The room was hot during daytime, so I had to use the fans. But they were full of dust, so I tried to use the least of it. Staffs were generally kind, but very strict about the time. Comments: Das spanndeste zuerst: 1.

Comments: The Tortoise and Bird Refuge is a real gem. Kaimana and Michelle were friendly and hospitable and responded promptly to any questions. They live onsite and take good care of the place. When I was curious to know more about the animals, they showed me around and let me hold the baby tortoises! I also got to borrow their snorkel gear instead of having to rent. The refuge is located within 15 min walking distance to downtown Lahaina and less than 2 min to Baby Beach where I enjoyed eating breakfast while wading into the ocean every morning. The water only goes up to waist height in the protected area but you can swim and snorkel. At night, the room is cozy and perfect for curling up with a book. During the day, there's plenty of sunlight and you can see a patch of ocean through windows on two walls. I was woken up by rooster crows but got used to it by the third morning. The parking situation involves occasionally having your car trapped in by the host or neighbor's car, but they make sure someone with keys is available at any time to let you out. If/when I visit Maui again, I would stay here.

So close to a beautiful beach, they take cleanliness seriously in this household, as most Hawaiian homes do. If you're not an early riser, bring earplugs! The roosters have great songs every morning, but really...you're in Hawaii. You need to wake up early anyways or you'll miss all the good stuff! Comments: This is not a run of the mill Maui resort experience, and Kaimana is the reason, thanks to her hospitality to both humans and animals. She is an expert on Maui and loves to share ideas. We enjoyed living with her whole host of animals and it was especially great for our 18-month-old son. The room runs a little warm during the day but we were able to sleep fine at night. There are several staffers who live there and they were all friendly. The location couldn't be better for a small child - Baby Beach is right nextdoor. The toddler was able to play in the sand and calm, lake-like waters while we were able to snorkel. Read her description carefully - it is very accurate and you'll know if it is the right place for you like it was for us.

Comments: This is by far the most unique lodging I've ever experienced. Bunches of tortoises, chickens and roosters, dogs and of course, cats. Throw in a couple of friendly cockatoos, love birds and assorted other avian friends, and this is as close to the jungle as you'll ever get in town. If you have allergies to any of the above, this may not be your cup of tea. Oh, and Kaimana warned me that the tortoises view red or orange painted toenails as treats. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to outrun a tortoise. Truly, it was never an issue. Kaimana is a truly genial host. The beach is just a few steps away, and it's protected by a reef. So enjoy a cup of coffee under some plumeria trees, and then head on out to whatever adventure you have in mind. One more (Website hidden by Airbnb) within walking distance of the Old Lahaina Luau and several other dining establishments. Don't miss out! Aloha!!

Comments: It's a nice home with many animals. I just needed a bed for the nights I would be in town, and the animals aren't in the way at all. Host is very friendly and the home was very clean. The shower area is surprisingly large. The location was a very convenient walk from the more bustling areas of Lahaina.

Abends hört man das nahe gelegene Old Lahaina Luau, was richtig schön ist.

Comments: Great location....steps to the beach. Kaimana and her staff are super friendly and helpful, they keep the place really clean. My room was nice, a peek-a-boo view of the water, and Buddha! Lahaina is a great hub for visiting the rest of the island. Come with an open mind and be prepared to explore.

Comments: Single room with toilet and shared shower. Kaimana can tell you just about anything related to Maui and she directed us to great places to eat and to the baby beach which is just a few steps from her home. This is an animal sanctuary and is earthy. The staff clean the grounds daily including washing the driveway and sitting area. We enjoyed our brief stay. Really the location cannot be beat. Steps to the beach and a short 10 minute walk to the action on Front Street.

Comments: Kaimana was a great host! The room was very clean and spacious. Location is great, right next to Baby Beach and a short walk to Front Street where all the shops, restaurants, and bars are. Do note that there are roosters on the property that will make some noise.

Comments: The best thing about Kaimana's place is the location, 30 seconds walk to the beach, which is basically why I reserved it. I was quite disappointed though by the experience of staying there. I booked it for 2 weeks and left after 3 days. The room was much smaller than I imagined, barely enough space to walk around the bed. No table except in the closet. The "kitchenette" is a table in the hallway. There were a number of different electrical noises in and outside the house that made it hard for me to sleep. The atmosphere of the house was more like a youth hostel, but not at youth hostel rates, also, I'm far from youth. The two young people who were staff there were very kind and helpful. Kaimana is a colorful character, and as she herself says, you either love her or hate her. All in all, if it were half the price, I might recommend it for younger people who have no sensitivities and want to be close to the beach.

Comments: My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay at Kaimana's animal refuge. She was extremely happy to take us around and introduce us to all of her animals, and we loved every one of them. Apart from the animals, her home is situated an easy walking distance to the heart of Lahaina, and also the Mala Pier (where we left for a morning scuba dive trip to Laina, before snorkelling the pier later that evening). I would definitely recommend her home to all AirBnb guests, especially those who love animals of all shapes and sizes.

Comments: Kaimana’s place was great! Obviously the animals were the main reason we booked and we were not disappointed!!!! It was soooooo fun getting to help feed the tortoises in the morning! Her cockatoo, Kai, is so cute and knows a bunch of cool tricks. Kaimana and her staff are super sweet and hilarious, we had so much fun hanging out with them for a little before grabbing dinner. I highly recommend!!

Comments: Clean, safe accommodation, in a great location. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and is one of the best beaches we visited. Great beach for kids as protected by a coral reef. Crystal clean water. A great Maui experience. My daughter really enjoyed the tortoises, birds, and fish the property also hosts.

Comments: Unique vibe and a great host in Kaimana. House is about 20min walk to the main drag in Lahaina and 15min the opposite direction to the Safeway and a small mall. Facilities were great and the animals added something else to the stay. Aloha and Mahalo Kaimana!

Comments: If you ever doubt this airbnb, don't because I found that everything they describe in the posting is accurate. I stumbled on this listing when looking for a way to visit the Lanai Cat Sanctuary during my solo trip to Hawaii. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to find a place to stay that would involve interaction with animals and people, walking distance to: the ferry out to Lanai, best luau, really good (affordable even) ocean front restaurants for breakfast/lunch/dinner, general store for necessities, shuttle out to the larger airport area, and literally less than 1 minute walk to the beach. WHAT A GEM. At one point of my trip, I was eating by the ocean to watch the sunset. After the sun had set, I caught myself re-reading the airbnb post to this place and I thought everything was accurate and there’s so much I appreciate about this place that I actually took rest of my dinner home to enjoy it back at this airbnb. Some of the experiences that I did not expect to enjoy was having fun and meaningful conversation with both hosts Kaimana and Cammie and of course the animals! I was impressed by how clean they keep everything and all the little things they ask during your visit like keeping your car keys on the coffee table, keeping the light switches off, keeping your feet clean and shoes out of the house - all of these things are in place to help make your stay more organized and comfortable and clean. I loved being mindful of the electricity sourced from the solar panels and all the motion sensor lights that were place very thoughtfully. I prefer it much more over blasting lights in my face. This actually gave the entire place a more ambient effect in my opinion.During my solo trip I had my ups and downs about life back at home and coming home to bond with their super friendly pets, cats purring and asked to be petted totally made my day. I made sure to make time to say hi to animals on my way out and in to the place. You’d be surprised how quiet and tranquil this place is. I hardly ran into anyone and when I did it was always very pleasant and friendly exchanges. For an introvert like me, it was absolutely perfect balance of solo serenity and engaged conversations. I stayed for a week so other guest came in and out of the second/separate room but I never felt like the privacy and tranquility I needed was compromised at any level. I have many favorite moments but couple of them are: having the option to bring back food to finish my dinner while hanging out with the pets in an ambient living room, seeing cute cats to say hi to anytime I went up/down the stairs, getting drunk at a luau knowing that I can just walk back - no worries of drinking and driving, option to try...

Comments: As a solo female traveler during my time on Maui, safety was important to me. The locked gate was easy to manage and provided a great sense of safety and autonomy. I had a bike for a portion of my stay and the bike rack within the gated area was a nice touch. I loved the eco-friendliness of the home (solar power). Despite all the animals, Kaimana and her staff do an amazing job keeping the home clean and odor free. Fans are provided and are more than sufficient for nighttime sleeping when the temperature drops. I was up early every morning so the roosters didn't bother me. If you feel warm or the animals are too loud, check out the beach- great napping spots are available and Kaimana offers beach towels. Baby beach is less than two blocks away, you can also walk, Uber, or catch a bus to other local beaches within 15 minutes.

Comments: Kaimana’s house is the most beautiful accommodation for animal lovers and is located only 30 seconds from enchanting Baby Beach. The rooms are exactly as the pictures show, very comfortable with your private bathroom. Towels, beach towels and bed sheets are provided. Kaimana is a perfect host, she does everything in order to let her guests feel at home. Her coffee in the morning is delicious. Kaimana knows a lot about Maui and gives valuable tips on where to go and on what to do. She is very communicative and pay attention to her guests needs. Comments: Quiet and comfortable, steps away from a gorgeous beach. walk down the road and visit Hawaii's largest Buddah. Skip the car rental & use uber/ lyft for transport. Also, the daily island-wide bus pass is $4, with a bus station in Lahaina, a nice mile walk away, through town past galleries, shops and restaurants along the water. I wished I could have stayed longer than one weekend. Also, be sure to take the boat over to Lanai for a day. Amazing.

Comments: If you’re into animals and want a true local experience, this is the place to stay. Kaimana was great about helping us get settled, had ice water waiting for us when we got there, and she gave us a tour of the home and showed us all the animals on the property. There are cats, dogs, birds, chickens, and tortoises. Also, if you’re planning on going to the Old Lahaina Luau, it’s only about a 5 minute walk from the property.

Comments: This is a unique place. Where else can you hang with tortoises, chill with a variety of birds, pet the doggies and then walk just a few steps to a nice beach? It’s a little funky (hey, it’s a working animal refuge — not a swanky hotel), but it has all the essentials a visitor needs. It was pretty warm during our visit, so we were glad our room had several fans to help cool us down after a day at the beach. Grocery stores and restaurants were near enough for us to walk to. Enjoyed talking with Kaimana about the animals too. My wife and I had a memorable stay at this unique location. Thanks Kaimana!

Comments: Great location right by Baby Beach which has great snorkeling. Very friendly hosts. Place is a little old but is clean. Common area with fresh eggs from chickens outside was a huge plus. All animals on property very friendly. Also laundry service was so convenient and appreciated. Please do note shower is shared - there are two doors entering shower from each room’s bathroom. There are no locks from shower, bathroom or bedrooms. Nothing happened but it was a bit odd to think the person staying in the next room could walk in on me showering, or walk right into my bathroom or bedroom through the shower.

Comments: The two best things about the house are that they are so close to Baby Beach, a lovely relaxing place and all the animals around the patio. if you don't love animals, this would not be a good place for you. There are house rules to keep sands and bugs out of the house so that might be hard for families with youngsters. About a 15 to 25 minute walk to downtown Lahaina. Walking distance to a luau, restaurants, two shopping centers, including Safeway. We shared a small rustic kitchen, using the refrigerator for drinks and breakfast pastries. She made us fresh coffee each morning. We were able to borrow beach towels, chairs, and snorkeling gear. We stayed for a week.

Comments: If you love animals this is the place for you. The animals are well cared for, the room was comfortable and everyone on the property is kind and respectful. They have fruit trees on the property and tortoises “running” around during the day which was fun to see. If you’re not a morning person, you may not appreciate the roosters, but we closed our windows at night and had the fans going so it didn’t bother us much. The location is great, close to Lahaina and around the block from the beach. The home is cute and appointed with everything you need during your stay.

Comments: If you want a hostel experience for twice the price you’d pay in Wailuku—and a handsome rooster that crows most of the night—this is a good find. The location is very central Lahaina, though I would advise you might feel more comfortable without a car to park as there’s very little secure parking. If you are particular about blinds that close, or showers in a locked bathroom, this is not the place for you. I left after one night (of two). Wouldn’t stay here again.

Comments: Disappointing and Uncomfortable! How this property qualifies as an “animal refuge” escapes me. It is a relatively small house with dozens of animals in and around it. Neighboring homes are just a few feet away. Getting on and off the property was very difficult for me (I’m 71), having to open and shut a rolling gate across the driveway, so I really didn’t feel free to come and go as I pleased. The Host was totally inflexible and unconcerned with my discomfort and unhappiness. I left after 3 days, having paid for five nights, eating the cost of an alternative accommodation myself. Airbnb case managers, although they talked a good game, were completely ineffective in resolving the situation. I felt wholly at the mercy of the host and Airbnb, but glad to get away from this place

Comments: A fun and unique space to stay. We had two small kids and the animals were a big hit with them. It's a great location, right by Baby Beach and walking to the grocery and some great restaurants, and even Front Street if you like walking. Beds were super comfy, lots of pillow/throw blanket/cot mattress options for everyone. It was kind of funny to have to whisper so as to not wake up the birds (!) but it was also super fun to hold and talk to Kai and Sweety (the cockatoos).

Comments: This is a fascinating off-the-path Accomodation. The staff is personable and informative. Parking is tight. Rise early with the Roosters. So close to the ocean...easy...superb sunsets. Tortoises, birds, cats and whippets all live here giving one lots of animals to enjoy and appreciate.
