Comments: This is the best rental place we have ever stayed in. The owners, Stephanie and Matt became great friends. We all had a lot in common and they both made our stay as perfect as possible. Their location was peaceful, in private location yet so close to town. It was wonderful waking up to birds, turkeys, donkeys, goats, pigs and anything else that came our way. Matt and Stephanie showed us great locations and fishing was phenomenal. Our son, Timothy caught a shark and a 175 pound Marlin. a few 50 lb Maui Maui. Matthew and Timothy got a few boar's. Our fabulous trip pictures are displayed on Coffee Country Cottage photo displays. I would recommend them to anyone and have already. If we get a chance to go to Hawaii again this is definitely where we will stay. The rental was in great location and very comfortable and convenient. I hope Matt, Stephanie and their 3 fabulous boys can soon come to Alaska to experience our side of the country. We miss you lots and speak of you often ;) We loved that the weather stays the same year around. ;) Not to hot and not to cold. John, Kim, Matthew and Timothy Rodriguea

Comments: I was thrilled to find Coffee Country Cottage and was hoping to get more involved with my Yoga and artwork while on vacation in Hawaii. I knew that there were cats on the property and asked if cats were allowed in the rental where I was staying. I was told that they were not. Unfortunately in the morning the cat was at the door waiting to be allowed inside, and upon further inspection, there was cat hair in various areas (i.e. under the bed and in the corners) which was not picked up. This left me with an allergy attack which took away from two days of my vacation, in addition to the extra expense of having to find another place to stay under short notice. Stephanie was very helpful in trying to locate another place to stay in addition to refunding my money. She has excellent customer service skills and her place is very cute in a great location to visit the various coffee plantations in Kona. The situation itself was just an unfortunate one.

Comments: Staying at Stephanie and Matt's property felt like a genuine local experience. We have been living on Oahu for over a year and this was the first time we felt the true and comfortable seclusion of island living. Stephanie and Matt were very gracious hosts offering their time for a meal and inviting us to their on property dance studio for lessons! The cottage slept our whole family comfortably and we felt safe. We loved the animals all around the property...having a very cute goat for an alarm clock was awesome! The drive into town for meals and sightseeing was easy and leaving town to enjoy some quiet and a comfortable cottage was lovely.

Comments: If you are looking for the true magical Kona experience, this is a good place. The space was very romantic and well decorated. Stephanie was really easy to get in touch with and very helpful. One night we had dinner together and I really enjoyed meeting her family. Her kids are delightful and her husband is a really nice guy. The property itself is at the perfect elevation when visiting Kona. Being right on the water can be hot and muggy, being up the hill a ways is a real godsend at night. Driving up the driveway to the house one sees all kinds of flowers - wild orchids and others growing on the side of the road. The place was really clean and I felt very comfortable in her space. One thing I really appreciated is that even though it had all the comforts of home, it didn't feel like I was living in someone else's home.

Comments: My wife and 2y-o daughter and me spent holidays here more than a week having peacefully beautiful experiences. Impressive and confortable interior, encountering friendly cats and goats and even a wild horse, having BBQ party at the garden also made us happy. Stephanie and Matt had been kindly taking care of us with keeping privacy. One thing we didn’t expected was the whether. Coffee Country Cottage is located at altitude of several handred meters upland so almost every day gets few shower like tropical rainforest. If you prefer to sleep in nice and cool night, the climate makes you happy.

Comments: It was a pleasure to have been guests of Stephanie. The cottage is immersed into the nature and at the same time you can reach in 15 minutes the downtown and the seaside. Plus you can enjoy a cool temperature that will help you to sleep very well!! the furnishings are very nice and Stephanie is very helpful for any questions! Thanks Stephanie!!!

Comments: The coffee cottage was a jewel in the Kona jungle. We loved all the details and color in the space. Everything was nicely decorated and accommodating. We stay a week and it was not long enough. Stephanie and Mathew and their beautiful boys were all so nice sharing information about the land and the surrounding area, they even took us out for a delightful sunset cruise on their boat. Such a peaceful space with the jungle serenade of frogs and insects birds and cows! Would love to swing back by and share more time! Thanks so much!

Comments: Aloha! I stayed in this cottage with my husband and two children (ages 6 and 8) for almost 3 months. We loved it there and were sorry to leave. Initially it took a little bit of getting used to a few things like the relatively small space and eating and doing most cooking outside but we soon got used to it! It was great for the kids to be able to play outside and they loved the kittens and baby cows and horse. Big Island is beautiful and so easy going. Try to spend as much time there as you can:-) Stephanie and Matt and their 3 boys are wonderful hosts. They were more than friendly and helpful and we did a lot of things together. My daughter and I joined Stephanie's Belly Dance classes which we truly enjoyed. You should try it too! My husband and kids went fishing with Matt and that was a great experience. We would all recommend renting this cottage if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway and if you want to get to know this awesome family:-) Stephanie, Matt, Christian, Makaio and Journey: We miss you!

Comments: Unfortunately i cannot recommend this spot to anyone. If you do come her, be sure to do so in the daylight, because GPS doesn't work up there, and without very precise directions you will not find it! 9 homes on this rough road all have the same addresses and none of the owners has a clue who this host is. She promised to meet us in the evening, but not only failed to give us directions or tell us how hard it is to find, but wasn't even there at all, didn't asnswer Her phones or texts while we searched over an hour in the dark knocking on neighbors doors. During our entire stay she never came once to say hello, or give us input, or even check if we alive or gone. Terribly hosting, apparently couldn't care less. The quarters are very small and cramped and certainly could not fit more than 2 persons, even though it's advertised as sleeping 6! Where they would all sit at once is beyond me. There is also no kitchen to cook in, and the grounds are unkempt and unattractive, tho we did enjoy the cows and cats. We won't come here again. I never even saw the host except once when she gave us a lame excuse of having been at the movies when she was supposed to meet us.

Comments: We enjoyed our stay in the cottage very much. It was charming and fun, and so quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was pleasant and roomy. We were visiting to attend a friend's busy three-day wedding, and had a fairly tight schedule (so sad!). It all worked out perfectly, but it would have been nice to have more time. Next visit.

Comments: The cottage was amazing! Great relaxing energy and comfort. The space provided a serene environment to wind down after working during the day. Stephanie was equally great! She answered all questions in a timely manner and invited us to dance, which I will do next time I visit! Tianna was also extremely helpful. I look forward to my next stay here.

Comments: The Red Coffee Cottage was really a beautiful place to stay! We enjoyed our time and travelling on the Big Island was amazing! Stepahnie and her family were very supportive all the time and the only thing we regret is that we werent able to stay longer and to visit a dance night or one of the options they offered! :) Thanks for our wonderful time & best regards

Comments: The cottage was just as described. It was elegantly rustic - it felt like glamping to us! Lovely comfy beds, well stocked kitchenette, luxurious deep tub - and cows that came ad visited us over the fence each morning and wild pigs that trundled through merrily. We loved it. As an added and unexpected pleasure we were graced with a home made coffee cake upon our arrival and then freshly caught fish that we grilled and enjoyed thoroughly. A delightful stay! Thank you!

Comments: Wonderful cottage up in the mountain side. The place looks just as amazing as the pictures. You can tell that Stephanie is an artist. This place provided us with a totally relaxing environment for winding down our 2-week trip to Hawaii. My wife and I took the bottom bed, while my youngest slept on the top bunk and my oldest in the loft. Another nice aspect is that you are at 1500+ feet of elevation, which means that the cottage is nice and cool at night, even when Kona itself is hot and humid. On top of it all, my wife had Hula lessons on her bucket list. Stephanie graciously invited her to come along to a special lesson which was happening in town.

Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Coffee Country Cottage. If you are looking for a quiet, private accommodation this is the place. Stephanie has the place well stocked and it is very artfully decorated. The large tub is a definite plus. The cottage is located at approximately 2,000 foot elevation, so nights and mornings are cooler and more comfortable than at sea level. This is one of the quietest places we have ever stayed and even though there were other guests at the property(adjacent cottages), we had sufficient privacy. Special bonus: neighborhood cows, feral chickens and a very friendly cat passed through occasionally. Kailua-Kona waterfront and the airport are a 15-20 minute drive, and the location on Hwy 180 makes reaching destinations north and south very easy. One very minor disappointment - there is wifi available, but signal was unreliable within the cottage. We had best connectivity from the lanai. Cell signal was sufficiently strong to keep us connected to friends and family. We would definitely return!

Comments: Our cottage was very artistically laid out, with most attractive paintings by a very talented host, decorating the walls and a very elegant and comfortable bed. Information about area places of interest was in the room, parking was most convenient. Although there was no breakfast in the room, ample eating utensils and bottled drinking water were available.

Comments: I wasn't able to meet Stephanie because we arrived late and left early, but she helped us greatly by offering to pick up a few thing for breakfast and leave them in the fridge. So great! She just left the receipt and I reimbursed her. Much appreciated after a long night of travel. Place was clean, as described, and we even were able to stretch in the dance studio when we woke up. I would highly recommend the Tiny House!

Comments: We had a lovely time, the cottage was so beautiful and creative! Highlights were drinking wine on the side patio in the evening with the string lights and passionflower arbor overhead, and the awesome king bunk bed with comfy blankets and pillows. Be prepared for the drive up the last road, our little car struggled a bit with the hill. It felt a bit like climbing up a mountain to a castle, though, so worth it in the end! Between the nice over head fan and screens and the lovely electric fireplace, we were comfortable whether we wanted to cool off or warm up.

Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Cottage! Stephanie and Matt are fantastic hosts. They provided great advice on what to see and do in the area. We really enjoyed the fishing trip with Matt and the Zouk class we attended. The property is beautiful, and The cottage is roomy enough for a family to stay comfortably. Being at 2000' above sea level means temperatures drop to the 60s at night, which is perfect after a hot day on the coast.

Comments: Unique and fun place to explore! Very friendly and detail oriented host. This is one of a kind place you must try out if you like the tribe like style. The room setup matches exactly in the pictures. Everything is clean, well organized. They provide beach towel, surfing board and chairs! They even have a dance studio nearby if you'd like to see and try some Hawaiian moves. Highly recommend!

Comments: What a great place! From the beginning, Stephanie was super helpful and the cottage was perfect for our family vacation. Our goal for our trip was to cover as much of the island as possible in 7 days, so we needed a place that was centrally located to the activities that Kona had to offer, but we also needed to be able to hit the road without having to wind through town to get to points beyond. We also wanted to be far from the noise of Kona....We like to visit town, not stay there. Before our arrival, Stephanie sent us a questionnaire so that she'd know our basic needs prior to arrival and then shortly before our departure for the Big Island, she made sure we had detailed directions on how to reach their property(You have to have a car to get there.). We followed the directions and made it there with no problem, even in the dark. Parking was easy and there was plenty of it. She lit the string lights for us on our lanai to make finding the correct cottage easy. Raj, the cat greeted us warmly, but then made himself scarce the rest of our stay. Don't let him in by the way. Stephanie is trying to keep the places allergen free for her guests. It was easy to make ourselves at home. Our 12 year old loved the loft and our 5 year old went up and down the loft ladder a lot, but we didn't allow her to sleep up there. The nights are cooler up in Holualoa, so our cottage was equipped with a little electric fireplace that worked like a charm. We miss having breakfast on the lanai every (Website hidden by Airbnb) peaceful. Communicating with Stephanie was easy. She replaced our hot plate as soon as we told her the one we had was having a problem. We had a water issue one day and she had that taken care of by the time we got home from our next adventure. We couldn't figure out how to open our green coconut and the next thing we knew, the troops arrived to cut it open for us! We enjoyed our stay to pieces and we had the most amazing time! What a great place! The only complaint we had was that we had no time or energy left in our days to enjoy any dance classes with Stephanie. Our kids were begging to go to bed by dark every day! Ha! We suggested outdoor wall hooks to Stephanie and Matt before we left because of all our drippy snorkel gear and soggy towels. We hope we didn't damage their patio furniture with our wet gear..... 2 days or weeks, the Tiny Red House is the perfect home away from home!

Before reservation, I read user's review and comment Lovely, Fantastic, Awesome After staying, I wrote real review 1.location Location is good to go anywhere you want. It's takes 14 min from house to kona town. Problems is that it was difficult to find the house. You should find tiny house symbol And then turn left at the corner (if you come from kona town or airport) and go up 0.5 mile more. I felt a little bit scared at night. 2.room condition @Room is clean But Is's not a hotel Bed cover is fabric so a little bit wet @Kitchen is clean But there are lots ants. @The more time past, the more ants appeared from kitchen to living room, also restroom too Although I didn't have any food. The hell of ants I don't know it's nothing special in hawaii. But My family are really hate ants. I worried about my beds everyday Especially My daughter is 3 years old. She sit down everywhere. Nothing to do. No one, no body near house. @dark light in room Main light wasn't turn on so room looks like deary. @No shampoo, lack of towels, no hair dryer There was no shampoo and I can find only 2 towels for 7 days, three persons. No hair dryer (I checked hair dryer prepared item at the air b&b before booking) I called house owner and request for that. Opportunitly owner gave us shampoo, more towels, hair dryer. Thanks. @prepared swimming stub You can find a Suffering board, beach chairs, beach towels. It's good thing << summary >> If only one night or two nights is ok! Comments: I rented the Green, Red and Yellow cottages with a group of 9 people for 4 nights. The location is unique and the cottages are nicely decorated and welcoming. We all enjoyed staying here, and it was very conveniently located to Kona Town. The location made it easy to have a home base to drive to different locations on the Big Island. Stephanie was very helpful regarding the details of the trip. That said, the previous reviewers were right about the ant issue- we found ants in each cottage, and they were not just limited to the kitchen area. They were in the bathroom and living areas too, and they were there when we got there. In addition, the shower curtains in all three cottages were very moldy.

Comments: The Tiny Red House was a great base for our trip to Kona for the Ironman World Championship. Although it has 6 comfortable beds, do be aware that it is a very compact set up. The hosts are entirely upfront about this. If you are planning on visiting as a group, would that group be happy to share a tent, or a caravan, or a small sailing boat? The accommodation is similarly compact and intimate. But for 2-3 adult close friends, or a family of 3-6, it's great! The location has really comfortable night time temperatures, and is just far away enough to escape the hurly burly of Kona (15mins by car).

Comments: Stephanie's estate was beautiful! The red room where we stayed for 4 nights was perfect for our visit to the Big Island. The room was spacious, comfortably sleeping four people, a lovely bathroom and very usable kitchen the house made our stay a dream. Stephanie and her family were extremely welcoming, and friendly. Giving us advice on the best places to go, and also inviting us to join them on several occasions. Additionally, Stephanie allowed us to use their Lagoon hot tub which was spectacular in the night time! We wouldn't hesitate to go back, there's so much property to explore and you just want to spend forever there. You will however need a car, as it's about 10 minutes from shops and food.

Comments: Stephanie's place was unique and comfortable. We had a group of eight so we stayed in the red and blue houses. The blue house was more spacious than the red, but both would comfortably fit 5 people. The houses were a little hard to locate at first, but Stephanie was helpful with providing directions. It gets really cold in the houses at night/early morning, and the roosters/chickens will definitely wake you up in the morning. Overall, it was a good experience.

Comments: Stephanie's place is awesome! We stayed in the red cottage. It was very cozy, but more than enough space for the 2 of us. Stephanie shared some fresh eggs from their chickens with us, which were delicious. We also had a fun morning doing some archery on their archery adventure. The location is about a 15-20 minute drive from town, so don't expect to be able to walk to any restaurants. It wasn't a big deal for us though.

Comments: We had a great time staying at the Red House. We enjoyed the sounds of the frogs at night and waking up to wild turkeys/chickens. Also saw a wild boar! There were problems with an ant infestation as well as a couple cockroaches though, so make sure to not leave food lying around. The shower curtains also had some mildew but overall our stay was enjoyable. Please also be careful of the giant speed bumps leading to the houses. Needed to drive extremely slowly to avoid scraping our rental vehicle. Overall, we would recommend this Airbnb if you would like to stay off the beaten track in a unique location close to nature.

Comments: The location is in a secluded area about 20 min from tourist area where is location of main grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. The Little Red Cottage was comfortable downstairs but upstairs loft bedroom area difficult for two adults to climb and cramped. Bathroom nice with plenty of towels. Outside cabana is in poor condition and being taken over by hanging vines making it unusable. Host was not there at check-in and never acknowledged us during our 2 night stay. Advised her of ant problem in kitchen upon our checkout.

Comments: Stephanie was able to accommodate my little family on almost no notice. The red cottage is exactly as pictured and was super comfortable but still had the island feel. We truly appreciated her hospitality and especially loved the farm fresh eggs for breakfast! Thank you, Stephanie!

Comments: We enjoyed our stay in kailua kona. It was lovely to stay in the coffee region. The house was lovely and very comfortable. We found it to be a great base for exploring the island.

Comments: The Tiny Red House is exactly as pictured! I LOVED the faux fireplace for ambiance and a tiny bit of warmth in the evenings! The lanai or patio with the lovely outdoor lights was lovely. The location was perfect for my vacation - a serene and beautiful mountain hide-away that was conveniently close enough to everything Kona has to offer! Stephanie was a thoughtful hostess, the mermaid lagoon was fabulous and the Mauna Lea Manor property is lush and beautiful! Mahalo!

Comments: This place is so great for experiencing Hawaii. The location, up on the mountain, provides great views as well as a fun soundtrack at night. Stephanie is a great, accommodating host. The space was so convenient for 4 of us AND the location was only 15 minutes from majority of the places we visited. Definitely would stay here again.

Comments: It is a nice property but could use some updating the wildlife around the units are nice but barking dogs are somewhat disappointing on occasion. The temperature is around 10 degrees cooler than downtown Kona which is nice the until do not have air conditioning but we only had three days of hot temperatures, all in all It is a good value

Comments: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was small but cozy and having cooler evenings and mornings was nice for packing up in the mornings and cooling off each evening. This place was centrally located to the beaches and things we enjoy doing and was quicker access in traffic than staying in town. It was quiet, clean and kid friendly and safe. Thanks again!
