  Comments: The cottage was homey, airy, and well appointed. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with a secure gate. It takes only a few minutes to walk to Kailua beach, which is surprisingly uncrowded and peaceful. The town center is a long walk or 5 minute drive away. Matthew and Lisa were incredibly kind and welcoming. We were greeted by Lisa, Ella, and their dog Roxy, and immediately felt welcome. They loaned us their beach umbrella, beach towels, and beach mats, and even offered to do a load of laundry since we booked a long stay. They definitely have this host thing down!

  Comments: This is a cozy cottage nestled steps from the beach. When I say steps, I mean it’s literally down the street and around the corner from Kailua beach which is beautiful and has a “locals only” vibe which means it’s far from crowded for such a gorgeous beach. We checked in and were greeted by Lisa, her daughter, and their dog Roxy. Prior to arrival, Lisa answered any and all questions that I had (it’s my first time in Hawai‘i) and suggested activities that we could do depending on our interests. Lisa and her husband Matthew helped us with multiple things during our trip; we borrowed mats and beach towels, borrowed an umbrella for the beach, asked for a small cooler to pack our lunch away in and they had one, and Lisa washed/dried our beach towels as it had been raining at night and who wants to wake up to wet towels, am I right??? Our stay was amazing, this family truly embodies the spirit of Aloha and made my first days in Hawai‘i unforgettable.

  Comments: Lisa’s beach cottage exudes aloha spirit. Lisa and Matt are excellent hosts. They were quick to respond to my online questions, wonderful communicators, and welcoming upon arrival. Their positive energy enhanced our stay. The cottage is spotless, well-appointed, and has a beautiful high ceiling. The bed is extremely comfortable with quality lines. The cottage has a quiet AC, but we did not need it. The ceiling fans and trade winds allowed us to keep the windows open, soothed by the sounds of ocean waves and rustling palms. In fact, we slept the best we have in months. The area is peaceful, safe, and an easy walk to the beach and town, where we went to the farmer’s market and bought local fruit, veggies, and baked goods. The kitchenette has a great fridge, good knife for cutting pineapple, nice dishes, microwave, coffeemaker & Keurig machine, and Lisa gave us wonderful Hawaiian coffee. There are plenty of electrical outlets to plug in devices and Wifi is fine. The shower has a strong water flow, and there are plush towels. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch and seeing island flora and birds. Lisa and Matt have thought of every detail, including beach gear—towels, mats, boogey boards, and umbrella. Our time at the beach cottage was restorative, and when we return to Oahu, we will definitely stay here. Thank you Matt and Lisa for making the cottage available. Mahalo.

  Comments: We had a fantastic stay at Lisa and Matthew's beach cottage! The space was private and sparkling clean, the hosts incredibly sweet and helpful, and the location can't be beat. Everything was comfortable and well appointed, with plenty of towels, amenities, etc. We didn't need the AC at all, fans and ocean breezes make for perfect comfort every time. Lisa and Matthew was fantastic, making sure we had everything we needed and were always on hand with great recommendations for enjoying Kailua to the fullest. A special shout-out to Roxy, the sweetest Lab you want! We had a fantastic time and will be back as soon as we can. Mahalo!

  Comments: Lisa is awesome! Super kind and generous host. Everything was exactly as described. Accommodations were modern, clean, and comfortable. Incredible location near the beach. Very quiet neighborhood, but if you are a light sleeper, the morning chorus of tropical birds/doves may work like a sound machine or in my case, earplugs. Lisa had many great, local recommendations and mine for you would be the tempura Ahi bites and frozen coconut Mojito at Nico's. Most definitely would stay here again.

  Comments: I don’t even know where to begin! First, the cottage: this space was absolute perfection. Lisa definitely took the time to create a welcoming space, missing no detail. From the comfortable bed to the beautiful and spotless bathroom (including a shower with amazing water pressure) to being walking distance from the beach, it is impossible not to love this place. Next, the hospitality: Lisa offered the most fitting recommendations for shopping, activities, and dining. She was great at getting a feel for what we were in the mood for and suggesting a few options. That was invaluable for finding great local spots. Lastly, the town: Kailua is SO gorgeous! The beach is picturesque and the city center has all the comforts like a Whole Foods and great coffee, but also so many local shops, restaurants, yoga, farmers markets, etc.. We were on the island for a week and could have stayed longer. I would 100% stay in this cottage again and have actually recommended it to a few friends who are visiting the island.

  Comments: Lisa's beach cottage in Kailua was the perfect space for my husband and I to entertain a week getaway on Oahu. Kailua is the ideal location for those who want to be far away, but close enough to Honolulu, and have accessibility to explore other areas like the north shore. The cottage is in a beautiful area within a very short walking distance to gorgeous Kailua beach and nearby Lanikai beach. The laid back town has many great local shops and eateries and any services that you may require. Whole Foods is well-stocked and there are two local markets during the week. My husband and I particularly enjoyed walking along Kailua beach and stopping at the Kalapawai Market for a coffee in the morning. We had a beautiful dinner featuring the local daily catch at the Kalapawai Deli and Cafe. Buzz's Original Steak House is a bit pricey, but has a great history with nicely prepared dinner entress (loved the cajun-style ahi and grass-fed tenderloin with garlic mash) and famous mai tais that certainly pack a beautiful punch. The Pill Box hike provides an amazing view of the entire area and is certainly worth the mild climb to the top and continues across the ridge if you desire. The cottage itself was absolutely spotless and just beautiful! Newly renovated and tastefully decorated in an ocean theme with an airy and fresh open ceiling, two ceiling fans, shutter windows, and the option for air-conditioning was just fantastic. The sound of the waves and waking up to the songs of the local birds each morning created a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is fully stocked to make light meals and snacks. Lisa was so thoughtful in leaving us some local cookies and providing me with organic decaf coffee upon our arrival after I asked her where I could find some. We were able to purchase local tropical fruit and made beautiful smoothies each morning with the Ninja blender that conveniently included to-go containers. The lanai was a lovely place to eat breakfast after walking the beach in the morning. Beach gear was also provided including boogie boards, fresh beach towels and mats, umbrella, and beach chairs. There are even two bikes available to tour the local area. The very best part was the warmth and hospitality of Lisa and her family! We were given the privacy we needed along with friendly conversation and open communication. Lisa was always available to recommend places to visit, answer any questions that we had, and provide us with anything additional we might need. We even had the chance to share some stories and walk with their lovely golden lab who was happy to tour us around the best parts of the beach as only a great dog can do! Communication from our initial contact with Lisa to the end of our trip was friendly, expedient and efficient. We would definitely recommend the beach cottage to others and look forward to returning again! Aloha Lisa!!!

  Comments: This private bungalow sits behind the main house and is cute and efficient. Very clean, lots of windows for fresh air. Lisa and Matt are great hosts, very friendly, and gave us tips on directions and some local places to visit. They have a beautiful family, and we enjoyed meeting them. Enjoyed our stay and the location as it was nice to not have to go through town each time to get to their place as traffic can be a bit heavy. Will definitely recommend to others.

  Comments: My husband and I stayed at this cottage for 3 nights. It was exactly what we were hoping for! Super clean, beautiful, newly renovated, close to the beach, and extremely hospitable hosts! We felt right at home and relaxed. Lisa was so helpful and accommodating. We were able to use their bikes to ride all around town. The little town of Kailua has great restaurants, a cute farmers market, and everything you need for the perfect vacation. I definitely recommend this cottage and plan to stay here again the next time we visit!

  Comments: Great location in a quiet residential neighbourhood near the beach. Pics are accurate. Communication is fast. The cottage is detached from the main house in the back yard. The cottage is the perfect size for two people. It has been renovated and is tastefully decorated. The cottage is self contained with everything including wifi and AC. The bed was super comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked - though we didn’t use it much aside from coffee and fresh fruit in the am. The bathroom is 3 piece. Water temp and pressure was superb. Lisa has boogie boards, beach chairs, towels, umbrella and a cooler to use. She even washed n dried our beach towels for us after a few days. That was nice! The place is near some great restaurants in the area which Lisa and her husband are a wealth of knowledge on. If your looking for a quiet, modern clean place, within 5 min by foot to the beach stay here.

Leaving the windows open, to the sound of the ocean with the perfect breeze, made each night. The location was perfect for our long weekend stay with just a short drive from the airport (20ish minutes) outside of the crazy traffic in downtown Honolulu. Lisa was warm and very generous with her time and local expertise. She had amazing recommendations on places to eat and things to do. It's less than 2 blocks from the most perfect sandy beach you can imagine! The small shopping area is about a mile away and easy to get to by car or bike with solid breakfast options and a Whole Foods for groceries. The room was breezy and comfortable with the absence of a TV a welcome change of pace. Many good books were read on the comfy bed, the sunny patio chairs outside, or down at the beach.

  Comments: Our trip to Kailua was a return venture for us, but a first time stay with Lisa. Even though we knew the town, she and her husband had great advice and suggestions that we had never known on places to eat and things to do. The space was gorgeous and newly remodeled with all the amenities one would need on a beach vacation. Riding around this beautiful town on the provided bikes and living truly like a local was invaluable. Not to forget the hop and skip across the small street to the shoreline of a secluded local beach. We will definitely be back!! PS, that sweet yellow Labrador (Roxy) was the cherry on top with her enthusiasm for dog walks and Lisa's willingness to let us practically adopt her for the week.

It was a perfect location for a sleepy beach town and a great landing pad to come back to after adventures across the island. The book Lisa made with local tips was really helpful and definitely added the local touches- in addition to the countless suggestions from Matt and Lisa. The house was incredibly clean and we had everything we needed and more- they were so willing to help us with EVERYTHING. They have a wonderful family and they made our honeymoon that much more memorable. We know exactly where we’ll be staying when we come back to O’ahu!

  Comments: It’s all about location with this perfect little beach house cottage just a block from the beautiful beach on Oahu’s windward side! The entire cottage was completely renovated and served our needs perfectly. The kitchenette was more than adequate for our week-long stay and the on-site parking was a major bonus! Lisa and her wonderful family were very accommodating throughout our entire stay and are always accessible should anything come up, but are more than happy to give you space if that’s what you desire. Wi-fi, A/C, full size fridge, and all the beach amenities you could ask for are all included.

  Comments: The beach house cottage is an amazing place to stay in Kailua. It is clean and decorated to be light and airy (so relaxing).   Comments: I traveled to HI on a work trip and found this cozy spot right by the ocean. It is an easy walk to the ocean, no joke. My favorite part about my stay was the privacy, cleanliness, and style of the cottage. For the eight days I stayed here I felt at home. It was the right size of space for me and I always had plenty of privacy. The bed was comfy and the sheets smelled good. If you are searching for a home away from away at a great price, I would recommend this location, without a doubt. Kailua is a paradise.

  Comments: Lisa's cottage was perfect for the two of us. It had everything we needed, and we especially appreciated the beach umbrella and chairs, which we used every day. The bikes were great for riding into town, too. The location was amazing - walking distance to the beach and biking/walking distance to town. Lisa gave great advice on sightseeing options, and told us about a walk we otherwise wouldn't have known about. Great idea to have keyless locks on the gate and door - it saved us having to hide keys when we went to the beach! We can wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and I slept like a rock. Bonus that it’s so close to the beaches and downtown! I will definitely rebook on my next trip to Oahu, and highly recommend to other visitors!

  Comments: We had a great stay at Lisa's place, everything was as described and our hosts Lisa and Mathew and their family made us feel at home. The beach house is a separate, small self-contained unit near the main house, with secure parking and easy street access. Kailua Beach is a 5 minute walk away, and having visited 10+ 'name beaches' on Oahu and the Big Island this trip, Kailua was our favorite. Miles of powder white, clean, soft sand, gentle warm surf, and mostly locals and families without the big crowds found on nearby beaches like Lanikai, let alone Waikiki. Unit was spotlessly clean, simple but modern with all the essentials. Very comfortable large bed, A/C present but we never used it as overhead fans and constant ocean breeze with surf sound in background kept us cool at night, very quiet for sleeping (and no roosters, sometimes a night noise issue in other Hawaiian towns!) Small kitchen with everything required, including both drip and keurig-style coffee makers, and bottled water and other starter supplies in fridge. Beach towels, chairs, boards, bikes etc. all available if wanted. In line with quiet, simple beach lifestyle, no TV or stereo distractions, but excellent house high speed internet for those needing some screen time, with good mobile phone service across rest of Kailua. Lisa was always available for help or tips, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and her family and learning about their life in Kailua. Kaillua town itself was pleasant and modern small town with good array of shops, services, and places suggested by Lisa to purchase food or eat out. We had good meals at nearby Nico's (couple of times, our favorite), walk up pizza at Bob's by the beach, good Thai at Champa's, and enjoyed slightly more formal meals at Baci Bistro and Buzz's (latter two restaurants we suggest reservations). Though quiet and beach focused, Lisa's place was only a 25 min. drive from airport and Pearl Harbour (along spectacular IH3 through mid-island mountains and tunnels). Despite gov. shutdown we had excellent visit to PH sites spread over 2 days, leaving afternoons free for beach! All in all our stay at Lisa's place was great and we hope to return some day from snowy Ontario! Aloha!

  Comments: This airy, creative cottage is the perfect beach house. My husband and I spent 9 nights and had the most restful vacation. Lisa and Matt and family are the best hosts and really are the AirB&B concept in action. So close to beach in lovely quiet residential area. People in Kailua are so friendly. Very easy to walk, bike or Uber. We felt like part of the family but we had total privacy. All the best.   Comments: We very much enjoyed Matt and Lisa’s place. They were such kind and gracious hosts and made us feel like we were part of their family and community. They gave great recommendations on places to go and we ate/drank very well while in Kailua! The space was beautifully decorated, spotless and had whatever we needed and more. It is a 5 min walk to the beach and we went almost every day. It was a wonderful week and we are very grateful to Matt and Lisa so being so kind.

  Comments: Lisa's place was awesome, everything was clean and all of the amenities that were provided made me feel like I was in my own cozy home. Her suggestions and tips on local Kailua spots were awesome and definitely worth checking out, she even let me borrow one of the family's beach cruiser bicycles! Getting to and from her place is a breeze by bus/car/taxi and the local beaches are really close. Thank you Lisa and family for letting me stay here while I explored Kailua! I hope to visit again sooner than later.
