Comments: Hakan was a wonderful host, and went out of his way to make sure I was having a pleasant time in his apartment. The apartment itself was very comfortable and I loved the original brick and wood floors. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Comments: Hakan was a wonderful and very caring host with good tips for restaurants and cafes around. He picked us up and brought us to the apartement. It is exactly as shown in the pictures and we felt very comfortable. Around the corner there is a little shop where we found everything for breakfast or cooking. We really liked our stay in Istanbul and we can only recommend Hakan and his apartement to everyone. Thank you very much!

Comments: the flat is nicely located near the trendy area, nothing fancy but clean, Hakan was a perfect host, came to pick me up at the bus station and was here in case I needed anything

Comments: My partner and I stayed at Hakan's apartment for 1 week and we loved it. The apartment was very spacious and Hakan went out of his way on several occasions to show us around Istanbul. His advice and assistance throughout our trip was great. The location was very central. We highly recommend this place. Thanks Hakan!

Comments: My girlfriend and me stayed at Hakan's place for 6 days / 5 nights. The appartment is perfectly located nearby Istikal street and Taksim. We had a great time staying in the appartment. Hakan is a very friendly host and showed us some great places to eat and visit. We can highly recommend this place.

Comments: Our host Hakan was great, for a start he picked us up from Taxim station at the middle of the night, then he kept in touch with us during all of our stay and finally had lunch with us on the last day :) The place was clean, spacious and comfortable, and really felt like home. The WiFi worked fine, there was very nice hot water in the shower and a small but well accessorized kitchen. The neighborhood was not very interesting, but it was really very close to the Istiklal. Comments: Hakan's apartment was comfy and extremely central. He wasn't in town on the day we arrived, but arranged for his friend to pick us up from taksim and show us the way to the apartment. We were also fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to Hakan and his band play turkish and balkan gypsy music at a bar!

  • Reviewer: Becky

Comments: Hakan was a very welcoming host! The apartment is ideally located; not at all far from Istiklal Road and public transport too. I guess the location can't really be beaten... especially because of the view when walking back there at night!

  • Reviewer: Kresta

Comments: Upon our arrival he picked us up, showed us how to get to the apartment and also showed us excellent places to eat. The apartment is clean and close to everything necessary in Istanbul plus he is great fun to hangout with and an excellent musician.

Comments: Hakan was a good host and there was no problem to communicate with him. He even checked if a taxi driver was cheating the way to his place which was so kind. The location of his apartment was just great, to reach Istiklal for just minutes. BUT, I think I should be honest about his apartment for his next guests. It was understandable that there was a boiler issue on first day and was no electricity on second day because these were not his fault. What we were really uncomfortable was smell. There were smells from rotton wood, bathroom, and especially old matress... There were small broken things but I am sure Hakan will change them right soon. You should know that this is an old apartment anyway. It surely needs some repaires. If it will be a little renovated, his apartment can be the one recommended.

Comments: This apartment was perfect for my month-long stay in Istanbul! It is spacious and well-located, with a corner store full of produce at the end of the street and central city hotspots just a short walk or tram ride away. Hakan is an angel disguised as an incredible drummer. He was extremely responsive to my questions and concerns throughout my stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Comments: Hakan was really nice and responsive before my arrival. He picked me up in the centre when I arrived in Istanbul. The flat has everything one might need and everything worked as it should have been. The flat is situated 10 minutes walk from Istiklal so one can get to the main sight conveniently to the main sight in Istanbul. I really enjoyed my stay at Hakan`s place and I woul recommend him and his flat everyone who would like to have a nice time in Istanbul.

Comments: Great apartment and hospitality. Thank you Hakan. Definitely staying again!

Comments: Good comfortable appartment on the second floor of an old building. The brother of Hakan showed us the house, wich is right on the corner of Euro Plaza Hotel. There was a problem with the boiler wich costs us a morning, but Hakans response was quick and he fixed it. The price is totally ok in comparisson to what you get, so I recommend it, but be sure to check the boiler when you enter.

Ottimo wifi e cucina molto attrezzata.

Comments: Hakan is a great host. Unfortunatly he was out when I came but he did everything for my smooth check-in. Flat is spacious and had all essential things. Right next to the flat there are several shops that is really convenient. Area is a bit shabby (common in Istanbul) but safe and sound for coming back alone at night. Hope to stay there again.

Comments: Lovely stay at Hakan's flat, great host, very accommodating and helpfull. Small, simple flat in a residential street, great way to get a feel of Istanbul outside the touristic areas, I felt quite safe even at night. Istiklal street and Taksim square a few minutes walk away, lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Overall a fantastic stay, would do it again! D.

Comments: Place absolutety amazing place I've spend 8 nights and what I was looking for. Felt like home. The flat is cosy, with big beautful windows and cute balcony for morning coffee! Downstars you have small and cute street with everything you need: grocery with fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery (the best ever) and even small wine shop. 5 mins away from the biggest shopping street and all small streets with pubs and cafes (Taksim area). Perfect place to stay in Istanbul, quiet. Highly recommended.

Comments: I decided to book an apartment for my two-weeks-stay in Istanbul, which seemed a better alternative to staying at a hotel or hostel. I initially chose this place because of the good location, reasonable price, and altogether excellent reviews. The location is indeed good, but everything from the first communications to checkout was extremely disappointing. For the checkin, the host told me I would meet one of his friends in Taksim. When I got there, I waited over half an hour, trying to reach the friend, until I called the host. He then told me to come straight to the apartment (rather than waiting for the friend at Taksim), which was another fifteen-minute walk away. I should mention that I've traveled to Istanbul before so I'm familiar with the area, but juggling my luggage and trying to find a route on my phone was quite a hassle. When I arrived, the host was brusque, unfriendly, and did not give me a chance to even survey the apartment. I would go on to discover that almost everything in the apartment was broken and covered in a noticeable layer of grime. The toilet cover was gone and the water wouldn't stop until I reached my hand in the back tank and pulled a lever; the pole holding up the shower head was snapped off; the kitchen sink effectively had two settings--steady drip and explosive deluge; the handles on the cupboards were broken; part of the floor was taped over; one of the stove tops was broken; and the washing machine door wouldn't close. Then there was the cleanliness issue: both the kitchen and bathroom sinks were constantly swarming with small flies, the shower was still covered in the last guest's hair, the utensils and other cooking materials were encrusted with old food, and the floor was coated in grime. I was barely able to stomach scrubbing and boiling the bare utensils I would need to survive, and I ate out as much as was feasible. The apartment also lacked toilet paper when I first arrived. The host did bring some over, but only a day after I contacted him about it. After a day or so of living there, I noticed that periodically a strong smell of sewage would permeate the entire room. Windows closed or opened, it was unavoidable. The host said he'd never had complaints of a bad smell before, but for me at least, it was impossible to miss. One day, the water was shut off--this was likely an issue for the entire neighborhood, but it's never happened to me during prior trips to Istanbul. Though it didn't bother me, potential guests should also be aware that you can hear EVERYTHING the people upstairs do. I seriously considered leaving the apartment early and finding another place to stay, but unfortunately this was not financially feasible. Lastly, I contacted the host more than 24 hours before I planned to move out to arrange where to leave the key and what...

Comments: Tres bon rapport confort/situation/prix pour Istanbul. Comme dans beaucoup d'endroits ( j'en ai testé pas mal à istanbul ), il ne faut pas craindre le bruit des voisins ou prevoir de bonnes boules quies. Acceuil sympathique.

Comments: Hakan is amazing host! He went to wait us at the metro station (not common at all) in Taksim Square, he showed us the flat and he was very helpful all along our stay in Istanbul. I recommend Hakan as he is a perfect Airbnb host.

Comments: All was good. I recommend to everyone who wants to live near Taxim.

    Comments: Thanks

  • Reviewer: Alexander

Comments: The apartment is conveniently located a close walking distance to Taksim. It was simple and clean but there was an unpleasant smell of sewage coming from the kitchen. The place did not have soap or shampoo as promised and was missing a shower curtain so the shower sprayed water all over the bathroom, which was very inconvenient. Host took several days to respond to messages and did not help resolve these issues. The place is generally fine but the host seemed not to be ready to deal with guests.

Comments: Hakan is very Nice, we had a great Time in this flat. It' s à Nice emplacement, the district is fun.

Comments: Overall a great place for the value. Close to shops, restaurants, and Istiklal street. It is a good 25 minute (with luggage) walk from either the Metro or where the Havabus shuttle drops you off. The flat also lacks A/C (I got used to it and the fan was invaluable) and it is about a three floor walk up, no television either, though you’ll be out exploring! The area is more residential, quiet and comfortable. The laundry is great to have and the space is quite large. The kitchen is adequate, I only cooked breakfasts there. A local doner shop is a MUST: Durumzade. (The Ulfa kabob platter is excellent.) Also try local Turkish wine and beer, good stuff! Once you purchase an Istanbulkart, the metro is easy and great for getting to all the top sights. (Highly recommend since Sultanahmet, Grand Bazaar, etc. is a good 45 minute walk, at least.) The cruise of the Bosphorus Straight is also a MUST. Only 24 lira and it was the highlight of my trip. The flat great space away from the hustle and bustle.

Comments: We enjoyed our stay in Hakans place. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for a week stay. There are two rooms:one bedroom and a really big studio living room with couch, kitchen, and several tables to eat and to work. A gentle touch of old Istanbul houses was lovely. WiFi was good. Hot water was always there also. All the necessary dishes/bath towels/iron/hair dryer were there. The flat is situated on a calm street but still 5-7 mins walking to Istiklal street. Hakan was a nice host always online and ready to help. Gladly will recommend his place.

Comments: Lovely Host Hakan and spacious flat. Area is close to Taksim but still residential and off from tourists. Enjoyed my stay here!

  • Reviewer: Sarah

Comments: First, Hakan is a very nice and responsive host. The flat is spacious, with good light and very close to the Istiklal, while lying in a residential area. The stay was ok for us as we were always outside to visit this beautiful city! However, one should not be picky about cleanness while staying in the apartment (the toilet smelled strongly of sewage, the shower doesn´t drain well, the towels were moldy etc.). So it was overall ok but could have been better ;)

Comments: L'appartamento è molto comodo e la posizione è perfetta per muoversi comodamente nel cuore della città. Hakan è preciso e disponibile.

Comments: Ok place but great location. recommend for budget travellers

  • Reviewer: Sameer

Comments: AMAZING host. absolutely wonderful stay. we were left alone to do as we please and with everything so close to the flat it's a total no brainer to choose this place. 24/7 grocery store 50yards away from the flat means you're never low on snacks. and a further 20 yards to the right there's a turkish delight shop and barbers and coffee shop to make you feel local. (The local shops are WAY cheaper than the chic OTT touristy ones anyway with Same value) will be staying again absolutely no doubt!
