Neighborhood Overview: Flatbush is a multi-cultural neighborhood in the heart of Brooklyn. What makes this area unique is the original architecture and the influence of a vastly diverse array of ethnicities who call this middle-class family neighborhood their home. To the non-New Yorker exploring Brooklyn may seem like navigating a foreign country, but I encourage everyone to explore with an open mind as there is much more than meets the eye! The area is very safe both day and night and has a neighborhood feel. Our street is lined with small restaurants and bodega's offering the best in no-frills culturally diverse cuisine. I would dare say that this area of Flatbush is a diamond in the rough to those who truly want a real and amazing Brooklyn experience! You will find shopping markets for basic essentials right down the block along with a laundry mat only a few blocks away. The area is also very quiet aside from the sound of vehicles, which is almost unavoidable anywhere you travel in the five boroughs.
Notes: • ENJOY your stray with us! • #HASHTAG#_ABSOLUTELY_NO_PARTYING! • #Hashtag#_SERIOUSLY!!_NO_PARTYING! • There is a security camera at the building entrance for our safety • NO smoking • We expect our guests to respect night time with quiet hours starting at 11 PM until 7 AM; • Respect neighbors and our lovely neighborhood!
Transit: Average 6-minute walk to the 2/5 trains and 2 minutes to the bus. Average of 30 mins to Manhattan and only a 12-minute train ride to Barclays Center, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Museum where it is easy to connect to other trains. 10-minute walk to Kings Theatre. Touristy Williamsburg is nearby where there is plenty to see and do!

Comments: Sherry's place was comfortable and spacious. It's great for families and groups of people who are on a budget. The beds are comfortable and queen sized. The fridge was stocked with water bottles and some breakfast items on our arrival. The place is also on walking distance to the subway station. Even though the place doesn't offer parking, street parking was still available right outside the door of the apartment on selected times. Moreover, even though Sherry wasn't there to greet us, Dawn, the co-host, was a phone call away and ready to show us around the apartment and answer any queries or issues we had with the apartment and was generally cooperative and polite.

Comments: The apartment was clean. The neighborhood felt safe and Sherry was there to help with whatever we needed. Buses were at the door and only a 6 min walk to the subway station.

Comments: A great affordable place to stay in good location off the beaten path. A true Brooklyn experience - minus the gentrification: You'll find old guys squabbling amongst themselves outside the corner bodega, families and churches on every corner, and too many good Caribbean restaurants nearby. Close to the 2/5 trains with a grocery store only 10 min away by walking. Laundromat only 5 min away. Kitchen has all the essentials to cook while there. Sherry was also a very attentative host and went above and beyond to accommodate me.

Comments: Sherry was very nice, flexible and responsive! The apartment was just as it is described. We were 4 people and it was plenty of room for us. The subway is pretty close to the place witch is great. The neighbourhood is not so friendly though and Friday night was super loud. But it was only that one night :)

Comments: Sherry was great and very friendly, very helpful. We liked the close access to the subway, a grocery and restaurants. There is a big balcony. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. Sherry provided a clean space with an abundance of amenities that made our Brooklyn stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hosts were available and accommodating without being intrusive. It is very convenient that only takes 30 mins to my party that hold in lower Manhattan. Look forward to booking again in the future.

Comments: Our stay at Sherry's place was perfect: her apartment is very comfortable (and the 3 beds are great) and close to the subway station (7min by walk). There is a laundromat at 3 min by walk as well, what is so convenient.

Comments: This apartment was so great. We always felt comfortable walking in the neighborhood. The subway station is just 6 minutes walk, if you want to go into Manhattan, the 5 trains are the express trains only take 25 minutes to Wall Street and World Trade Center, it was so convenience. Sherry was always available for any questions and answered them very quickly. The place was very cozy and clean. We had great stay. I would definitely choose here again. Highly recommend if you want to stay in Brooklyn.

Comments: Sherry is a sweetheart. I could not have asked for a better person during this time. Moving from the financial district of Manhattan to this part of Brooklyn could have been a disaster; however, Sherry diligently averted a crisis when I was literally moving lost the original apartment the day prior (totally different scenario) and Sherry drove over a half hour just to check everything was okay in her apartment for me to move into at moments notice. She stayed with me during me move, making sure I was going to be okay. She stayed in contact with me for the next few days for support and assistance. Over the next few weeks we would text or call each other to catch up. Sherry and I never met prior to this situation; however, she and I have now become friends and I intend to stay in close contact with her. She is a wonderful person who is caring and definitely goes above and beyond. She truly cares for people and has a heart larger than herself. I ended up staying in her apartment for a month and I am sad I had to relocate to a permanent apartment. My new permanent place is perfect for me and my family; however, Sherry and her hospitality have left an imprint on my heart. For this we are truly grateful. Thank you Sherry. You truly are an angel.

Comments: Great location and apartment. Right across the street from a coffee shop which was great for the mornings. Tons of delis and places to eat in the area. Also within walking distance to subways that take you to wherever you need in New York! I was worried that it would be cramped for the 6 of us but it was the perfect space. Overall they were great hosts and the apartment was perfect

Comments: The apartment was perfect for the 6 of us, the beds were very comfortable. The back bedroom was much quieter than the 2 front rooms. It was a nice added touch to see ear plugs available in those 2 bedrooms. Very thoughtful! We felt very safe and comfortable the entire time.

Comments: Large 3 bedroom flat in Brooklyn with fair value. Location is safe but a little far to Manhattan. 2 of the bedrooms are facing major street that can be noisy at night. Great host with quick response and willing to work with guests to resolve issues.

Comments: Sherry was the ultimate host. My family and I were in town for my daughter’s graduation and Sherry was wonderful. The apartment was quiet and just right for a party of 4 adults. The neighborhood was safe and convenient to public transportation. We were able to go to Chinatown, Coney Island and many other places with no difficulty. I would definitely stay in Sherry’s place again I when I come to Brooklyn again.

Comments: Nice place in Brooklyn. Enough space for five people. The bedrooms were very clean. The street was a little bit loud, also during the night. Because of the warm/hot weather in july we had to turn on the fan which caused additional noise. sherry is a very nice and helpfull host, so we enjoyed our stay in New York.

Comments: I addressed my concerns with Sherry about the apt. I stayed in the 3br apt with my 2 nieces. It was spacious and I think you would lke it. But, it could be more comfortable for the next guests. More attention to cleaning in between the guests, the sofa just needs to be replaced and that odor from the kitchen. It was around the fridge area. She changed the shower curtain and lining so you are ok there. Drainage in the shower, she can correct that also. Was not with me but for the next guest, hopefully. The smell from the ac units, I thinks it needs to be cleaned or filters cleaned. I never used one but it should still require maintenance. Unfortunately, the tv service is horrible. If you want to relax and watch the tube, well good luck. That svc I Hated. Luckily, I didn't care for that on my trip but it would have been nice when I came in at night. So, for the next guest your stay should be on point for comfort. We are paying for comfort and we should get it. Feedback matters and when they correct what's wrong, it keeps you going back as a guest.

Comments: If you're looking for a quick location to sleep and shower before exploring the city, you'd find that in this Airbnb. The neighborhood is definitely not suited for walking alone at night, but it is within walking distance to the train. The location is deep in Flatbush, so it can be a distance away (40min to an hour) to other parts of NYC depending on where you want to explore. Sherry is highly responsive and will help with any concerns or requests you may have during your stay.

Comments: Sherry's place is mostly as described. It's fairly close to the Subway, which will take you to other locations in Brooklyn or into Manhattan. This is a good spot if you have a larger group and are budget conscious. I'd say it is best for group of 6 or fewer. For more than 6, you will need an air mattress, which is fine but makes the space very tight. When we stayed (late August 2018), two of the four burners on the stove, and the oven, were not working. We worked around it, but you should be prepared. Also, the television is tricky to figure out. Sherry offered help, but by then we had figured it out. It's a Roku TV but you can't actually watch Roku on it. You have to watch TV through an app on the TV, and there are limited channels. Two of the bedrooms face the street and can be very loud. We had the A/C running and a noise machine as well, and I still woke up from the street noise. Finally, this is probably not the best place if you have small children. The sofa is broken and propped up on blocks, so if your kids are rowdy you might find yourself reconstructing the sofa... I doubt you would have any reason to know about this if it's a group of adults staying.

Comments: The area felt safe and secure enough. The Subway station wasn't too far away. The place was clean, and good for what it was. The beds were comfortable with A/C in each room. Kitchen only had one burner working, no oven; so cooking was kinda out of the question. The "patio" from the kitchen could have be more inviting with lights and seating. All in all, it was a place to sleep; didn't spend a lot of time in there, cause New York.

Comments: Sherry was a lovely host, very attentive. The area is not the greatest but that didn't take away from the overall comfort of our stay. The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable for sleeping. 2 of the bedrooms face the street so expect to hear some traffic noise but nothing too extreme, was able to sleep fine. Parking can be tricky but we were able to secure a spot right in front of the property. But be aware of the parking restrictions, on the day we were checking out I look out the window to find our car was the only one parked on that side of the street. Had to drive around for a bit to find another parking but not too far. Not sure if was for street cleaning or trash collection but providing some information of any parking restrictions to your future guest might be helpful.

Comments: Sherrys place is great for 3 couples, as we were. Very easy check in and sherry was great to communicate with. The neighborhood is really cool with some nice local spots to visit! Comments: This is a comfortable and spacious flat. The beds are very comfortable and the sofa in the living room is a good place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The flat is situated in a relaxed neighbourhood. Flatbush is not that interesting in itself for sightseeing, but it feels safe and you have everything you need in a walking distance. Comments: The place looked as described. Check-in was easy. If you're renting a car, note that street parking can be difficult especially at night and all car have to be moved from 7am-10am. So if you plan to sleep in, dont forget to move the car or prepare for a parking ticket. It is really easy to get to Manhattan as you can take the main street (Flatbush Ave) all the way into lower Manhattan in about 20 mins. If you plan on cooking, be sure to ask if the stove and oven are working as the check in email I received didn't say they will be out if order during my stay. The building is older so some parts of the floor is uneven. It rained really hard one night and created a small leak in the skylight. I sent Sherry a message with a photo and she called me within minutes. So, she is definitely quick to respond if you need anything.

Comments: Our group of 12 very much enjoyed our stay at Sherry's Brooklyn apartment. We were in town for a weekend event at Kings Theatre and loved how close the apartment was to the theatre - so close we could walk! Sherry was very responsive and the place was in wonderful shape when we arrived. She was very flexible and let us check in early on Friday morning, and was available throughout our stay to answer questions. We fit everyone comfortably in the space, and only really had a small issue with the oven when we first turned it on - noticing that a piece of the insulating tubing was loose and it smelled like gas for a moment. Overall, this place was well worth what we paid and Sherry's hospitality was unparalleled. All twelve of us would definitely recommend this place!

Comments: Sherry has a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment. The apartment is very spacious and has a large screen TV. I stayed for 12 days and I really enjoyed my stay. There are bars and lots of places to eat and shop in the area. The subway is also nearby. Sherry was a wonderful host. She is always available if you need assistance and at the same time giving you total privacy. I would strongly recommend Sherry’s place. It’s a great place to spend a vacation.
