Transit: It is 2.6km to the Spice market at Eminonu walking at a reasonable pace. It is about 4km from the blue mosque and hippodrome. You don’t need to walk…it is about 200 metres to a bus stop which has buses going past around every 5-10 minutes during the day. These can take you either to Eminonu where there are great back street markets or there is a bus that also takes you to Taksim in about 10 minutes (traffic dependant). This is a great location to base yourself and really get to know the real Istanbul as well as set you up as a base to visit the main tourist attractions. In order to do Istanbul some justice you really need around 5 days to visit the main areas and attractions.
