Comments: Bret and Shawna's place was perfect for our little family. They were communicative and gracious hosts through and through. We loved our stay and would totally recommend it!

Comments: I had a great stay overall, the place was clean (never saw a insect inside which is unusual for Hawaii), well appointed (couldn't think of anything I wanted or needed that wasn't thought of), safe (well lit outside and gated). The only reason I am giving a score of four is the road noise. The property which is attached to the side of a residence is on a main road. The unit doesn't have air conditioning which most homes in Hawaii don't, as utilities in Hawaii are expensive and nighttime temperatures don't nesastate it. So having all the windows open at night will make quality sleep a challenge especially if your a light sleeper. The owners were friendly, helpful and communicated well both before and during my stay. Aloha!

Comments: Walking distance to beautiful beaches, driving/biking distance to the famous Lanikai. We got to catch 3 sunrises over the nearby beach--highly recommended! Clean, comfortable, very functional space to stay! The hot plate was great for us to save a little money on a few dinners. We never had trouble with parking by the house. It was easy to feel at home here! We had an amazing time!

Comments: Shawna and Brett were hands down the best! The first place we were going to stay fell through and we needed a room last minute, within an hour of contacting them we were at their amazing beach cottage. They greeted us with the sweetest most genuine smiles and made us feel welcome from the beginning. They let us use their bikes and double kayak even going the extra literal mile to drop us off in a sweet spot where it would be most conviennent to put in at. The place is a short walk to the beach, clean, has a little kitchen, is private, and the best little place ever. It had everything we needed and then some. We weren't bothered that it didn't have air as we felt like we were sleeping on the beach with the air that circulates naturally from the ocean breeze. We will most definitely go back. Hopefully sooner than later and if you need a place to stay, go stay with Shawna and Brett!!!

Comments: We absolutely LOVED our stay at this AirBNB spot. The location was so perfect. We were close to shopping, restaurants and the BEACH! They let us use their beach chairs and even a volleyball. It was much bigger than I expected. It had everything we needed, and it was SUPER clean! I am so glad we stayed there.

Comments: Bret and Shawna are great hosts. Completely available and unobtrusive at the same time!!! Very warm and delightful people! The little place is well maintained, in a great location, and it is a treat to step out the door and immediately see lovely flowers! I have stayed in or near Kailua several times and Shawna's Nautical Nest is a very good value. While cozy, the living area with a futon and bedroom area separate allows for options a studio would not.

Comments: Shawna and Bret were very friendly and welcoming hosts. They provided a queen size air mattress in addition to the bed and futon for us to sleep on. Check in and check out was easy and their place was only a short walk to the beach. There was plenty of parking available on the street. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Comments: Shawna and Bret are great hosts! They make you feel at home and are super accommodating. The place is super clean and filled with all the little necessities you didn’t even know you needed. After leaving a dress at their place they even reached out in order to get it back to us. It would be a pleasure to stay with them again. 10/10

Comments: I spent 9 days with Shawna and Bret in their home-away-from-home Nautical Nest. Our little suite was perfect for us. It was clean, pleasant, and nicely decorated and stocked with everything you'd need. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable, and the futon in the living room worked just fine for my daughter. The many ample windows allowed the gentle trade winds in. There was no AC, but certainly there was no need, as we were never overly warm. Best of all, Bret and Shawna were themselves warm, welcoming, and helpful. They have a sweet, calm lab, Bella who greeted us friendlily from time to time, and two quiet little kiddos who toddled around the front yard from time to time but who were never noisy. Also, and this is a big plus, they have 3 bicycles and a couple of kayaks to you to use for free. Bret will even help you load the kayak onto your car. The beach is an easy 10-15 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride away, and the shops and restaurants in Kailua town center are only a 10 minute drive or 20 minute easy bike ride away. All-in-all, a great place to stay, out of the commotion of Waikiki, but yet only 20 minutes away from the airport, Downtown Honolulu, Hanauma Bay, or many cool hikes.

Comments: Shawna was so wonderful and the place was super comfortable and cute. She let us borrowed bikes and we biked to the beach, which is about 10 min away. There is a Safeway close by also. Overall it was a really nice stay and the location is great. We really enjoyed the seclusion from the main busy areas.

Comments: Fantastic place, amazing value! We loved our stay at the Hale. It's a very cute guest house with amazing beach house touches and decor. The bathroom was recently renovated and the apartment is equipped with a comfortable bed and renovated finishes like the bathroom and kitchen. Good wifi, fast communication and help from Bret and Shawna. They were extremely hospitable and made this a top-5 Airbnb stay I've ever had. Just a super cool place. But do understand there is not A/C. No A/C is common in Hawaii so we knew what we were getting into.

Comments: My Family and I, we had a really nice stay at Shawnas house! There was a warm welcome just as we were family members so we immediately felt at home in our holiday appartment. Beaches are beautiful in Kailua and we could use the bikes to get there. We highly recommend a stay at Shawnas home and we hope to get the chance to come here again - loved it!!!!

Comments: Upon our arrival a little attention was waiting for us to welcome us. Really a nice place well located, near the city and services and at the same time a few minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches of the islands. A small apartment really adorable with a terrace and a bbq or we passed to the opportunity our evenings in the tranquility. Thanks to Brett, who was particularly effective with a problem at the refrigerator. I would not have done better. Alain and Manon

Comments: Shawna and her husband are very friendly! Our family showed up at 1:30, tired from a long flight, and they made us feel welcome and allowed us to check in then instead of wait for the check-in time. They have a bunch of chairs and beach equipment outside their front door, which she told us to use whenever we wanted. The location is on a busy street, but the apartment is quiet and there is plenty of free street parking. Public beach access is about a 10 minute brisk walk. This isn't a luxury place, but it is fairly priced for the money. Kailua is a great place to stay! Plenty of good restaurants and beaches, without the frantic tourism of Honolulu.

Comments: We stayed at Shawna’s place for three nights with our two little boys. The apartment is small for four but really nice and clean. Shawna was really helpful with all kind of tips, communication was quick and easy and the beautiful Lanikai-Beach is just a five minutes drive away. We can definitely recommend this place!

Comments: Amazing spot!!! Private with great hosts and amenities! We would book it again in a heartbeat. We rented a car and found this the perfect location to see the whole island with a reasonable drive! But the bus line is feet away and a beautiful beach a short walk.

Comments: Fantastic location - away from the hustle and bustle of the town but only 5 minutes away if you want some great food or to hang out at Lanikai Beach. Also central to some great hikes like Olomana and the Lanikai Pillboxes. Lastly, Shawna and her family are super accommodating and have great recommendations for the island no matter what you’re looking to do!

Comments: This was the PERFECT place for our little family for our week long vacation. My wife and I stayed here with our two younger children (8 and 6) and loved it! Shawna is the world's best host and helped make our trip be everything that it could be. Kailua is a wonderful little city with everything you will need along with some of the most beautiful scenery/beaches Oahu has to offer. Unlike the Waikiki area traffic was minimal and getting places was easy! I would highly reccomend it for a local/tourist balanced experience.

Comments: This was our first Air b&b stay and we were a little nervous when we first booked. All of that nervousness melted away as soon as we walked onto the property. What a nice, clean and cozy little place. Shawna and Bret were great hosts, giving us suggestions on everything from restaurants, hikes, snorkeling... everything! There was plenty of room for 3 of us. We chose it because of its proximity to the Marine Corps base but travelled all over the island easily. I can’t say enough nice things about this experience. It made our trip awesome! If we ever get to go back this is exactly where we will be staying.

Had a great stay and would highly recommend it!

Comments: The Nautical Nest is a very comfortable and clean place to stay in beautiful Kailua. Nice decor, easy access with electronic door lock, items for cooking, lots of towels, comfy bed and close the beach. Shawna checked in with us a couple times to make sure everything was okay. She recommended an off the beaten path place in Honolulu called La Mariana which is one of the last original tiki bars in Hawaii. It's a restaurant as well and has great history and has been the back drop at different times for the Hawaii 50 show. So if you're interested in that kind of thing, it's worth the drive. Shawna is a wonderful host and her upbeat energy is amazing. We highly recommend the Nautical Nest!
