The room itself was simple and clean with a comfortable bed and a powerful air conditioner! Jason gave me lots of recommendations for activities, and his mother cooked me breakfast and even sang a song for me. The house has a great vibe. The neighbourhood is pretty nice, not fancy but plenty of takeaway food options. You'll have to travel a couple of stops on the subway for the nicer bars and restaurants. Getting into Manhattan is super easy, just hop on the F! Takes only around 35 minutes to get to Times Square. Overall a really nice stay!

  Comments: Jason and Helen are great hosts. The communication was excellent from the beginning. The place is very clean, tidy and cozy. They always helped me with anything I needed. Helen made me very good breakfasts whenever she could and Jason gave me really good recommendations about different places to go in NYC and nice restaurants. I really felt very comfortable with them from day one. If I’d come back to NY I would go with them for sure. The neighborhood is quiet and safe (even in the late night, I always went back between 11pm and 2am and I never had a problem or felt unsafe). The locations is relatively near to Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery, F and G trains (Church Avenue), which is very convenient as you can get to Manhattan in approx. 20 or 30min. depending on where you go. If you’re looking for a good place and reliable people to stay with in Brooklyn, don’t waste more time, go with them.

  Comments: This space is as described, and very quiet. I did not interact with Jason much but his mother was absolutely wonderful. She made sure I had all I needed during check-in and provided breakfast. Jason was very communicative. Prior to check-in, the continued requests for updates were a bit overwhelming for me, as I was travelling, but he was very helpful during my stay and provided me with suggestions for activities and even gave me a portable charger to borrow! Would recommend if you plan to be on the go and need a comfortable, clean place to stay, as this room is an excellent value. Also, the Wi-Fi is great.

  Comments: My stay in Brooklyn with Jason and his Mom was very pleasant. Check in, communication and everything was very easy. The apartment is very clean and he and his mother were great hosts. It took about five minutes to the subway and in the neighborhood were all kinds of stores for daily needs. Only thing to say is that in the room there is no window, the AC is very good, though. All in all, a great place to stay.

  Comments: I enjoyed my stay here! On arrival, Helen made me dinner and we spent some time exchanging songs and playing the piano. Jason was full of great local advice and whenever I had a question or query he could not have been more helpful. Really efficient communication as well. If you're someone who wants a quiet place to stay, this will suit you well - definitely not a party venue which suits me down to the ground as I'm generally looking for a quiet place to sleep. The air con in the room works great too - it was quite warm while I was in New York so that helped a lot! The place is really close to subway where can get the F line that runs you into Manhattan. Typically I was spending a lot of time in Midtown or the lower east side, so you're looking about 40mins door to door for most places in Manhattan. I'd recommend downloading the Citymapper app when traveling anywhere - this'll also help you to take the shortest route to the station. While I wouldn't describe this as being a very trendy part of Brooklyn, there is no shortage of food shops and take aways nearby (and Jason again made good recommendations for this too). It's a bit dimly lit at night but as someone who made the trip at all hours of the morning solo, I felt pretty safe. The area is also really diverse which is always a plus :D Thank you so much Jason and Helen x

The apartment was spotless and featured beautiful wood floors throughout. The room was quiet as it isn't near a street and located in an intererior room within the second floor apartment. The bed was comfortable and had a cozy duvet. A closet to hang clothes and small table and chair were in the room. Two F subway stations were a quick walk away and Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn were half an hour away by train. I would definitely stay again as the price was a bargain. They suggested a wonderful Asian restaurant my last evening which turned out to be excellent.

  Comments: The host and his mom are very caring. Very responsive. I felt comfortable. First day, I was rather skeptical as it was my first experience being at airbnb. By second day, I felt very comfortable. The hosts are very cordial, responsive and generous. They make sure you are completely comfortable. Subway is 8-10 mins distance. It is better to commute by uber pool if weather is too cold like I faced on one of the Days. The park near Brooklyn is great, which was suggested by the host.

My guestroom was in the interior of the apt and did not have a window, but it did have a ceiling fan and was airy enough and cozy and comfortable. The mattress was firmer than most, but I slept very well. Very easy commute to Lower Manhattan by subway.

  Comments: A great little gem! The room and bathroom were spotless (which is always my number one priority). Other info: the apartment’s on the second floor of a townhouse (I didn’t have a lot of luggage but that might be helpful for some to know). The bathroom (and kitchen) is in a little hallway that’s separated from the main living areas which is nice so I didn’t feel like I was disturbing too much if I came home to take a shower late. I really appreciated that they let me leave my luggage for a few hours after I checked out. Overall, seamless and great experience. Really enjoyed Jason and Helen’s hospitality.

The air-conditioner in the middle of this hot NYC summer was such a relief. No, the room doesn’t have a window, but I, personally, did not find the room to feel confining. If you’re looking for a tidy space to lay your head in a quiet part of the city (about 45 minutes - hour to Midtown), Jason and Helen’s listing is a nice option.

I booked with them the second time because the first time had been so nice that I had no incentive to bother looking for something else. I had great experiences both times. This place is great value: the house and room are super clean, the bed is comfy, the neighborhood is safe, the subway station is a 5 minute walk away. Jason is very helpful and accomodating. His mom (Helen), is very sweet. She cooked breakfast for us, bought us tasty dumplings from Chinatown, and shared her passion for music by singing to us. If you are looking for a safe, affordable, and confortable place for 1 or 2 people to stay while in NYC, look no further. I recommend Jason's place without reservations.
