Notes: There is no housekeeping service; however, we ask our guests to leave their rubbish outside daily for us to pick up. Extra sheets, blankets, and pillows are available upon request. Standard bathroom amenities with shower and tub. Because this is rural Hawaii, the internet as well as television may become intermittent or not functional at all. The Utility companies work quickly to restore services so these outages generally are short.

Other than that, there is no place to rent vehicles, motorbikes, mopeds, or bicycles here in Hawi. All this is best done in at your point of arrival. We suggest that your most affordable purchases would be in Kona so should you choose to stay with us, it is recommended that you do your shopping in town, purchase a bag of ice to keep things fresh while you travel in, and enjoy the scenery and the ride as you make your way towards the Golden Kohala Coast!

Comments: A very clean cottage in a secluded farm. We got fresh eggs and muffins from the owner. If you're not afraid of 'water beattles', it's perfect ;)

Comments: Stay here if you want a relaxing, beautiful, and unique Hawaiian escape. Wonderful quant town with plenty of nearby beaches and great sight seeing. The farm is lush and absolutely beautiful and everyone is wonderfully hospitable. it made seriously consider moving here.

Comments: I had a wonderful peaceful stay, Loved the cute little town about a mile away. Everything was great. I will definitely go back there on future visits and highly recommend this as an alternative to an expensive resort stay.

Comments: Great place! As someone who has backpacked Europe and traveled all over the US, I can say this place is outstanding. Affordable price and it still feels like a hotel. You get your own cabin, so nice privacy. Everything feels like brand new, very clean. Les worked hard to attend my necessities and communication was never an issue. Beware that it's a very rainy place, so I'd recommend bringing your umbrella. Location is not prime, so you will need a car... But I kinda enjoyed being away from all the madness. Overall, you will get your money worth it.

Comments: The place is really lovely. The sleeping area is clean and comfortable and the outdoor kitchen and lounging area made it possible to spend much of the time enjoying the fresh air and beautiful landscape. It's a little ways to town but a nice walk. I forgot an item there and they were very helpful in arranging to get it back.

Comments: What a treat to have found Rev. Les' cabin... arriving there after a long day of solo travel in planes and cars I felt like I found a sanctuary. The cabin is very tidy, and everything is new and well maintained. The bed firm and very comfortable, I slept very well the three nights I was there. Although Rev Les informed me of possible daytime farm equipment noises, I never heard them as I was gone most of the days. The nights were quiet except for occasional rains when windows must be closed, there is a fan that keeps things cool and air circulating. This area of the Big Island is lush and tropical and with that beauty comes an abundance of life, so attention must be taken when preparing or storing any kind of food, as the ants will be quick to make an appearance. Sweet Hawi town is nearby with all its charms, and has a lovely Saturday farmer's market under the shade of a massive banyon tree. The fresh organic farm eggs Rev Les left for me were so appreciated, and the kitchen did provide for all I needed to fry them up for a delicious (Website hidden by Airbnb) were the kind and helpful communications I received from Rev Les. Mahalo for a delightful first stay on the Big Island! c:

Comments: Situated on a small farm, it is very convenient to Hawi. Only about a mile, so you can walk to town if you like. There are a few roosters in the area but otherwise was quiet and peaceful. I'd never used an outdoor kitchen before but it worked great. Patio furniture and table on the lawn in front of the cottage provides lots of outdoor living. The bathroom is small but clean and like new. We'll be back.

Comments: Great place to stay, enjoyed the view from our room.

  • Reviewer: Dan

Comments: I highly recommend staying here if you want a peaceful and tranquil stay. The farm Les lives on is full of fresh fruit and the sound of the trees moving in the fast wind is therapeutic. I will definitely be back for some more paradise.

Comments: Great place on a working farm, nice & peaceful, with a nice outdoor kitchen area with all the utensils & cookware you'll need. But bring your own food. Would definitely stay again. :-)

Comments: Highly recommend. Very private and comfortable

Comments: Rev. Les''s place is super, its a working farm and you have plenty of privacy at your own little cabin, there are a few on the property. Everyone is so nice and its a great starting point to explore Hawi and Pololu valley.

Comments: The cottage is very neat and clean, like new actually. It is quiet and yet close to Hawi town. Nice yard with comfy outdoor furniture and shade awning. This was our 2nd stay with Rev. Les. Great communication and he is very quick to respond to any need.

  • Reviewer: Megan

Comments: This little cabin was perfect. It was super clean, the bed was great, and the bathroom was nicely renovated.

  • Reviewer: Dorrit

Comments: Rent this place! If you are looking to explore the North Kohala coast there is so much to do, or not. And Rev's cottage is perfect for both.

  • Reviewer: Katharina

Comments: Rev. Les was a great host, greeting us upon arrival and available when needed. Communication throughout was great. The place was super clean and cozy. We would always come back and explore more of the northern part of the island.

  • Reviewer: Lisa

Comments: Nice spot, beautiful birds and quiet. In a lovely town with lots to do.

Comments: My fiancee and I visited Hawi and staying at Rev. Les's gave us a great home base for exploring the surrounding area. The property is nice and felt secure with the gated entrance. The cabin was super cozy and felt like home while we were there with plenty of space and a very comfy bed. Rev. Les was responsive and a pleasure to talk to when we met him. We will look back fondly on our stay in Hawi and would love to come back!

Comments: Rev Les’ place is simple but super clean and cute. I enjoyed sitting outside to read. The property is gated and he area is very quiet and safe. The nice breeze at night helped me to fall asleep easily. I enjoyed relaxing in Hawaiian lifestyle there.

Comments: What a beautiful place for a relaxing time. Rev Les was a sweetheart from start to finish and his furry hosts as well as the people working on the farm were very kind and fun to chat with as well. Honey Girl (the golden) was a sweet greeter, but also so well trained that she wouldn't come inside. So you can have all the pup you want. For the price, you kind of wonder what you're getting. The place was immaculate, tastefully decorated and made it easy to relax and enjoy the place. Its an amazing value and more that I could have expected. There is construction and farming going on so its not like the Disneylandia properties of some resorts. Its got natural beauty of a farm with ocean views, big sky & bright stars and really quiet at night. Les's place a good home base for exploring northern and mid island. We only stayed two nights as we stayed at several places around the island. Wish we had stayed another night. The host was also very generous with products grown on the farm. Mahalo nui loa Rev Les! We'll be back and be sure to recommend. Your place was a great place to relax and recharge. Our hearts are happier having stayed with you. Thanks for the good company.

Comments: Very comfortable place to stay on the North end of Big Island. Cooler nights may for comfortable sleeping yet only a 20 min drive to sunny beaches. We will be back.

  • Reviewer: Alan & Sheryl

Comments: Quiet room as described and good location.

  • Reviewer: David

Comments: Rev. Les is a very warm and friendly host, the bed is very comfortable, and the 1/2 dozen fresh eggs were most welcome — but because access is a bit difficult you should definitely get there before nightfall. I made the mistake of arriving too late, and ended up running over a few of the Rev.’s orchids and knocking my car’s side mirror out of joint on a hibiscus bush. Everything was fine the next day however, after we met Dr.Les and got to know and love Hawi. P.S. thanks for the duct tape!

Danke. Mahalo.

Comments: The bungalow is small but provided ample space for the 2 of us. Everything seems very new and well maintained. The outdoor kitchen is small but very well stocked with pots and pans and did not need more space to prepare a meal. Great place to listen to nature and enjoy lots of peace and quiet. Note that Rev. Les asks that you clean the bathroom, sweep the floor, strip the bed and leave the kitchen area cleaned up before you leave. Takes about 20 mins. Enjoyed our time here and got to explore the area.

Comments: Rev. Les's place was in a perfect location for me as I was there as a teaching artist to work with students at a local elementary school. The cabin is basic and rustic. Spacious enough for 1-2 people. As the description says, it is located in a working farm so it's natural to see insects, roosters going off in the early hours, breeze of fresh manure here and there. Cooking/"kitchen" setup is outside the cabin on the porch so it feels like luxury camping too. Very quiet and green all around. Very close to charming Hawi town and Kappau town.

  • Reviewer: Sue

Comments: I highly recommend this lovely cabin. It is comfortable and easy to live in, and feels very private. The outdoor kitchen on the balcony is great for morning coffee! Rev. Les is very responsive with communication. We were about a mile from restaurants... an easy walk into a charming little town. This is a place I would love to visit again.

Comments: This is a lovely getaway for anyone so you can peace and comfort.

Comments: This cabin is so quaint and perfect! Although the other houses on property are closer than I expected we didn’t hear any sound other than the wind and birds outside. Very walkable area and right down the street from the Hawi shops. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting a peaceful, quaint place to experience north Kohala to stay here.

Comments: Great place. Best from where we stayed so far in Hawaii. I would choose it again.

Comments: wonderfully quaint, beautiful, clean, quiet, private little cabin. Very Hawaii! This was such a special little place to stay for our first visit to the Big Island. Rev. Les was quick to respond to any of our requests but we also had complete privacy. The cabin was adorable and we had everything we needed. Hawi is also a very cute little town!

Comments: Les couldn’t have been a more gracious, welcoming and jovial host. His farm and the quaint Polynesian cabin are a delightful getaway place away from the well-trodden paths on the Big Island. Les was kind enough to tell us about his farm operation and show us around. He offered helpful suggestions and historical anecdotes which you can only get from a true local. The quaint Polynesian cabin invites you to come back and stay longer. I can only wholeheartedly recommend Les’s place.

  • Reviewer: Abe

Comments: This place is nice. Little, quiet and clean. For the price, it doesn’t get much better than this. When you’re not there, Rev asks you to keep the windows shut. This makes the place very hot when you return but once you open the windows up, turn the fan on and just chill out, you’re able to acclimate quickly. It’s Hawaii so the heat and humidity is just a part of the experience. Rev was quick to respond to any questions I had and the gate/keypad access made us feel safe and secure. Overall, a great little place!

Comments: My girlfriend and I stayed here for a spontaneous trip to Hawaii in October. The place is actually much bigger than the pictures show. It's very clean, the covered outdoors seating area is a nice place to sit in the afternoon and enjoy a drink. Hawi was a perfect location on Big Island, about an hour from Kona where we did some surfing and snorkeling and about an hour from Wai'pio Valley where we did some hiking. I don't think you could find a better deal on the island, honestly. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Reviewer: Jake

Comments: The best. Excellent value for money, incredibly accommodating host, beautiful property.

  • Reviewer: Mayuko

Comments: Very clean, homie feeling studio! The kitchen is outside of the room which leads to a great view of the yard and garden for great outdoor dining experience. Has a bit of spider webs in certain areas so watch your head! The owner response fairly quickly too if you need to get in contact with him! Would 100% stay here again :)

Comments: there were so many good things about our experience in this location; but I will only mention the three most important factors that made it so great 1. the host- Les is a wonderful host and he doesn't ignore any of your needs, he was always helpful and answered almost immediately to any of our messages or requests 2. the farm- My wife and I loved walking around the land just enjoying the scenery and picking starfruit or papayas every once in a while, i was also very fascinated how everything grows on land that is actually lava rock and learned how pineapples are grown 3. the cabin- it was really clean, really comfortable, we decided to just chill there thru the weekend instead of driving around to the beaches or other scenic location like we have done the rest of the week; it basically became part of our hawaiian experience rather then just a stop-over for the night like we originally planned

Comments: We were very happy with the accommodation and the town of Hawi. Rev Les is a great character and we enjoyed his hospitality. He was very accommodating and so was his staff on the farm. The bird life and critter noises around the farm were fantastic to listen to and we enjoyed picking a few starfruit and oranges. The outdoor kitchen was adequate and great quality stuff to work with. The location is awesome, super close to Hawi and a nice quiet, rural road down to the farm. So far, this is our favourite area of the Big Island.

Comments: Delightful cottage near Hawi Town. Quaint farm setting. Clean room, easy to figure out things. Rev Les introduced us to his orchard, where we found Papaya for breakfast, along with his free range chicken eggs provided in our kitchen. It is important to note the outdoor kitchen may be drafty and damp in a downpour- of course, but it was very nice when the weather was pleasant..

  • Reviewer: Edward

Comments: it was great!!! not one regret.

  • Reviewer: Brian

Comments: We loved waking up to sounds of birds, roosters and a distant cow or calf; no traffic noise other than farm ATV.

  • Reviewer: Shelley

Comments: This place is very special! I expected something very rustic and cabin-like, but this place was like a beautiful little hotel room that happened to be in a cabin. It feels new and fresh and clean. I loved the camping aspect of the kitchen on the front porch, and it was a very well-equipped kitchen. The setting is beautiful and you get the farm feel, especially hearing the roosters in the morning. It's green and lush and private. The location is perfect for visiting the Kohala Coast beaches. Hawi is a darling little town with a few great restaurants and it's also close to the Polalu Valley and Waimea. I would definitely book this place again!
