Comments: Diana's place is great for couples and families. A very clean and cosy guest house with all tge basic neccesaties in quiet neighborhood. We felt very safe and comfortable staying there with our twin babies. Diana was very nice and welcomed us personally although our reservation was last minute and she was busy with the restaurant on New years eve. She greeted us with a bowl of fruits from her garden and provided us with all the necessities that we asked for our twin babies. The place is close to the main attractions of the island - Volcano ntl park, the waterfalls, Hilo market, and lavaaaaa flowing into the ocean! We'd defintely stay at Diana's place next time we're at the island

Comments: Such a cute and charming place to stay. The little lanai was a relaxing place to have breakfast. Diana was so accommodating, when we couldn't find the house in the dark, she came out in the rain with a light to guide us over, couldn't be nicer!!

Comments: Perfect, romantic bungalow Diana and Lando were very thoughtful with friendly aloha spirit. The room was very clean, private, surrounded by lush plants. Fresh fruit, delicious coffee and beach towels were kindly provided. Location was almost halfway between Hilo and great snorkeling. We would definitely return here and recommend this place to traveling couples.

Comments: We loved Diana and Lando's place. It was clean, quiet and conveniently located to visit the Hawaii Volcanos National Park and Hilo. Diana was easy to reach, very helpful with advice & directions. Whatever little comforts we asked for such as wine glasses or beach chairs, Diana supplied immediately and happily! Don't miss going to Lando's Italian restaurant (Cafe Concerto) in Hilo! The food is great & the ambiance Italian. Lando is from Italy so he insists on locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!

Comments: To get to this Airbnb, we initially followed our gps by typing in 15 railroad ave, which was a mistake. Definitely use the written instructions provided by Diana to get to the accommodations. It makes things much easier, especially after sunset. We were very impressed with the accommodations. Everything is brand new. It was very clean and they even provided chocolates for Valentine's Day. A nice thoughtful touch. They also provided fruit and water, along with brochures for local attractions. When we first walked in, I was worried because it was quite humid, but after opening the windows and turning the fan on, it cooled right down. The only minor issue I had was that the metal bed frame was creaky. Other than that, everything else was perfect. We would definitely stay again.

Comments: Glad that we checked where it was in daylight before heading to Volcano Park, made it easier to find at night. Wonderful, secluded, wanted to stay on patio all day to enjoy the natural surroundings.

Reviewer: Christian
Comments: Located on a quiet lot along with another slightly larger bungalow. The entry to the house wasn't easy to spot. Recommend to go to the apartment before it gets dark. The bungalow is exactly as described. No air conditioning and definitely requires all windows to be opened to cool down. There is a fan though above the bed. Other than that clean and simple. About a 40 minute drive from Volcano NP and 20 to 30 minutes to Hilo depending on traffic.

Comments: This was a great stay. It was advertised as quiet and that is exactly what it is. It is tucked into a residential area. No one bothered me at all. It was easy to get into and out of the driveway. Beware that if you turn on a light in the evening the bugs will flock to you. Also the room gets a bit warm during the day I made sure to leave the windows open a bit during the day. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you.

Comments: This place was a great find and exceeded our expectations. It's newly built, clean, private and a convenient distance from both volcanos and Hilo. Sounds like you're sleeping in a rainforest!

Comments: We spent two days circling the Big Island and wanted a quiet and uniquely Hawaiian place to kick up our feet after a a long day of driving and hiking. Diana and Lando's spot was absolutely perfect. Two french doors opened to a nice patio facing palm trees full of chirping wildlife—no sound of cars or neighbors whatsoever. Their new and peaceful little property is located about 25 minutes outside of Hilo, where our helicopter tour left from the morning of day 2, and 15 minutes outside of Pahoa. Diana recommended Pahoa for dinner which was a cool little town we likely wouldn't have made it to other wise. I will be recommending this place to everyone that I can and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Comments: The bungalow was comfortable, had all the needed ammenities and it truly was a quiet and serene place to stay with a lot of privacy. The bungalow is very well kept and clean. Diana and lando even had snorkeling gear, towels and beach chairs for us to use. Everything looks very new. Diana and Lando are the best hosts I've encountered when booking air bnbs. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and she gave us great advice on what to go see and where to eat and even had fresh fruit for us . I would definitely recommend this place when staying in the Big Island.

Comments: My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much! Diana maintains this place very well. She was very responsive to all messages too. If you are used to sleeping in a very quiet room you might want to bring ear plugs... you probably want to keep the windows open at night, and birds can wake you up very early.

Comments: Once again I want to thank you for your overwhelming genuerosity. There isn't a place on the big island I would rather stay!!! Not only were they super easy to communicate with, but they sent me suggestions on things to do and places not to miss. You don't want to miss this place or these people. Top notch all the way around.

Comments: Diana was very communicative before we arrived and greeted us when we checked in. The location is in the rural area and we were definitely glad to find it during the daytime. Diana went out of her way to provide extra toiletries for us after our baggage was delayed. The fresh fruit and water was also appreciated! The location is off the beaten path but great for relaxing - you can hear the birds and enjoy the tranquility of the space. There is another single unit on the property but no one was there while we stayed and there seems to be enough privacy if they did. The location is a bit further from Hilo but easy to access and a good starting point for the volcano park and 61g east access viewing. Overall we were very happy with our stay! Thank you!

Comments: Diana and lando's property is beautiful! Papaya and banana trees are abundant. You have complete privacy in a detached little home. It is very clean! We loved falling asleep to all of the peaceful forest sounds :)! Morning coffee, a mini fridge, and microwave was a nice touch and convenient for our early departure to the Hilo airport!

Comments: We had a very nice stay at Diana and Lando's place. The house is private, and completely separate from other houses. The place is spacious, clean, modern and has everything you need to have a nice holiday. We had an excellent time down at the lava viewing area which is close to the house (20 miles down the road). Finally, Diana was an excellent host: she sent us plenty of information via email prior to our arrival and made sure we had comfortably arrived. Thank you for everything!

Comments: Diana and Lando were great hosts from the start - great communication and thoughtful reception. The accommodations are spacious and lovely, it's like your own private cottage! The most appreciated gesture for us was a late check-out. We had a early morning lava boat tour that required us getting up at 3:30 am. We were so happy to go back to the cottage, sleep, and check out after 3 pm. It was a lifesaver! If you have the opportunity to stay with Diana and Lando, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Comments: I needed a place close to Volcano National Park and didn't need a ton of space. I wasn't staying a very long time and I would be out most of the day at the park so the size and location was ideal for me. There is a Foodland about 15 min from the house and on the way to the park so I was able to stop and grab food for the day driving around the park. The place feels very secluded especially at night because it gets very dark as there is little light pollution. Arriving late at night and in the dark the place was easy to find because it was clearly marked and there was great directions from the host. I had issues with my flight so I landed 6 hours after I was supposed to. Diana was so great and genuinely concerned about my arriving since it would after dark. There was fresh fruit from their property waiting for me that is the perfect way to start the day. I would definitely stay here again.

Comments: Loved the geckos on the banana plants and all the lizards on the lava rock. This place was close to Pahoa which was important to us. Gets a little toasty inside so I recommend keeping the fan on and all the windows open.

Comments: Diana and Lando's place is beautiful, and very true to the photos! It was comfortable, meticulously clean, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful tropical foliage. There was also fresh fruit, a couple of water bottles, beach towels, and some snorkeling gear provided to us. Just be aware that the water that comes out of the tap is rain catchment water (which is common in this area) so be sure to bring drinking water.

Comments: Prepare more drinking water. The room is wonderful, only a little hard to find it and the connecting road is dark during the night. The room is a single house which is really convenient. The host provides nearly everything you need. Love their room!

Comments: Gav was our host for the weekend and was fantastic ! Very very helpful with places to see and visit. Her communication was superb . I highly recommend staying here if you are in this side of the island. The place is well kept and "hidden" but the address given to us led us right there! The snorkel equipment/ beach towels/ coffee / fruit were an amazing bonuses!! It's gets hot at night but fans are provided :) Thanks again.

Comments: Overall the Big Island is very beautiful and breathtaking. A couple days before arrival, we were so nervous because it was our first Airbnb experience, but Gavrielle made me feel so at ease with such excellent communication and direction. Place was really easy to find, and just like we've hoped to be, very quiet and cozy. Everything looks new and well kept. We were welcomed with fresh delicious fruits that we had for breakfast. Yummy coffee and tea on the table, entertainment system that we enjoyed before bed...everything. All in all , I'm glad that we chose this place. Wanted to stay longer, but I'm sure this will not be the last time. Mahalo again for such great hospitality.

Comments: Our first time experience with airbnb using Diana and Lando’s home in paradise was awesome. We arrived at night and got lost looking for their house since the street was dark and it was raining. We called Diana and stayed with us on the phone until we found their house. She was on the street with her flashlight to guide us to their home. She is a wonderful host. The place was clean and perfect for me and my husband. We will definitely go back and use their home if we decide to go back to Hilo. Alma

Comments: What a lovely space! ‘Tis luxuriously simple. My partner & I were only able to stay for a nightlong getaway, and it was perfect Some things to note: The area is “residential,” yes, and Diana & Lando are right next door... however it feels more rural in the best way. You’re surrounded by luscious nature in a neighborhood with houses quite spaced out, some with many acres. I was originally hoping to book a place in a more rural setting, and was happily surprised about the location. Also, there is another guest house right next to you on the same lot, which was unexpected and totally great. We’ll definitely be staying here again! Oh, and the coqui frogs! I finally get why they’re called that... “Co-QUI!” :)

Comments: This was a great little bungalow. Very easy to get to for the area. If I stayed here again I would make sure to bring more re-usable water bottles and hit up some Starbucks or water fountains before heading home. Diana was so sweet and she did provide water bottles, but as someone who works in the environmental field I didn’t feel great drinking from the plastic bottles.

Comments: This place is lovely! We only stayed one night, but certainly wish we had carved out a couple nights here. There are two guest bungalows on the lot, but it still feels very private and comfortable. The place is very clean, the shower is roomy and water nice and hot. Close proximity to Hilo, and we loved exploring the Kapoho Tidepools. Diana met us upon arrival, and even communicated to us that day that an early check in was available—which was a nice surprise. There is a mini-fridge and microwave, so don’t plan on cooking or storing a lot of food. Bring some yogurt to enjoy with the fruit provided by hosts! Yum! Also—Diana offered us plenty of bottled water since the rainwater catchment is not recommended for drinking, but we would recommend saving the plastic by bringing your own refillable bottles full.

Comments: We had a wonderful stay. Loved the birds signing in the morning and at night, the peace and quiet, the darkness and mystery of the place. Passion fruit and other delights from Diana and Lando’s garden were delicious. I wish we had had more time to soak in the serenity of the place. Conveniently located between the Volcanoes Park and Hilo. A lovely getaway with starry nights.

Comments: I highly recommend this listing. It was everything we needed for our week stay on the big island. The extra touches were a great surprise. We never had to spend any money on snorkeling equipment it was already provided. There is also a limited amount of sunscreen, aloe (which we did use) and bug spray which made it nice to sit on the patio at night. Very quiet neighborhood. Loved our mornings drinking coffee on the patio. I recommend this host and listing to others and will be recommending to close friends and family in the future. Thanks for everything!

Comments: The place is wonderful. Very clean and you are surrounded by nature. You will hear all of nature's sounds, so bring some ear plugs if that will bother you. Convenient drives to get to the volcano or Hilo. Totally recommend staying here.

Comments: Diana and Lando have an amazing spot for people looking to get away. It is extremely clean and I found the bed very comfortable. While you are there you can get somewhat of an “off the grid” feel but with just a 10 min drive north or south you can find yourself different shops and restaurants. It is also 15-20 from Hilo. Also enjoyed the coffee maker, dvds, waters, and freshly picked fruit for enjoyment. Would def I I felt stay again. Thank you guys!

Comments: Exactly what the description promises. From Diane’s personal greeting when we arrived to the birds calling at night. It was the wet season when we visited (and boy did it rain) but that only added to the experience for us, sleeping to the sound of the rain on the roof. Our only regret was that our stay was just two nights. One tip for prospective guests, make sure you have a rental car, you can get to the lava flow viewing area in a few minutes, and Hilo town is likewise not too far away if you’re driving. Thanks Diane & Lando!

Comments: If you want clean and simple beauty and everything you could want then this is the place for you. Microwave refrigerator coffee fresh papayas and other fruit..... Lovely accent touches and beautiful artwork that really conveys the feeling of Hawaii Anna. Even the windows had been recently washed and there was good air circulation and ventilation between the windows and the ceiling fan. Very important for my wife and I was the lack of mold and mildew smells this is a rare thing in Hawaii and we really appreciated it

Comments: We only stayed for one night but wished we had stayed a few days more. Diana is passionate and welcomed us warmly when we checked in. The place is as described. Diana also gave us some fruits and the papaya is the most delicious I have had in years. The bungalow is clean and very affordable. The only thing to watch out for is that it's a bit off the beaten path and I strongly recommend to arrive before sunset in the first night. Diana provided the GPS coordinates, and both the GPS coordinates and street address is accurate in (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps so you won't get lost when using (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps. Overall this place is awesome and the birds/insects sing all night long. A very lovely stay and highly recommended.

Comments: The bungalow is exactly as described and very clean. It may be a bit hard to find, but Diana and Lando provided us with good directions. There is no A/C, but all windows have fly screens, so you can have a bit of a breeze inside the bungalow. Communication was always quick and easy. We enjoyed our time very much and would stay there again!

Comments: This place was super clean, cute and quiet! You can fall asleep to the sounds of nature, birds and tree frogs (seriously, who comes to Hawaii and complains about hearing nature?). Even though the main house is right next door, it felt very private and we had a great stay. The one caveat is that there is not a kitchen sink so you have to wash your dishes in the bathroom sink :/

Comments: This little bungalow was perfect for us! It was cozy and comfortable, and close to both Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for one night, but we really appreciated all the special little touches that make Diana, Lando, and Lucy such great hosts. They had fresh fruit and bottled water and sent us lots of information about the area and things to do. It didn't have a full kitchen, but did have a small fridge, microwave, and dishes. Great little getaway!

Comments: This place is fantastic, exceeded expectations. It is spacious, clean, quiet & centrally located if visiting Volcano, Hilo, Pahoa, or Kapalaa. Comments: The house is located in the wood so it is very quiet at night. We really liked the design of the house, the simplicity and the attention to details. It is very cute and sparkling clean. The host was very quick to respond to our questions and very thoughtful. We arrived late but two bottle of Hawaii water and local fruits already provided in the house. Comments: This location worked for me coming from Volcanoes Park. I loved the shopping plaza nearby for groceries and takeout. I did not read the details closely and it was hot inside when I arrived, but cooled off quickly after I opened all the windows. No AC if you plan on staying inside on a brutally hot day, and the fan is less than optimal. There is a TV, but strictly for DVD use. I was able to watch Merrie Monarch online, but only in certain areas was the WiFi signal strong enough to stream on my phone. The space is super clean, there was fresh fruit and bottled water in the mini fridge. The bed is comfortable. The coquis frogs are deafening, and I live on Oahu, so I don’t come to Big Island to hear nature sounds, especially invasive species. Closing the windows cuts the noise by 50%, which you can do if it cools down. Due to the noise, I would not stay here again as I am a very light sleeper. Great place if you can get past this or sleep like a log.

Comments: A cute cottage that was very clean and quiet. There is a coffee maker and DVD player. It did get warm when we were there, so we were thankful for the extra fan. It is about 20 minutes south of Hilo in good traffic, but leaving in the morning was difficult and time consuming with the commuters on the only road into town. Just make sure you leave extra time. It was worth it to have peace and quiet with nature at night.

Comments: Diana was hospitable from the get go. We felt welcomed and comfortable staying on her property while we explored the Hilo side for a few days. She was very responsive when we needed to reach her. And also provided us with ample information for sightseeing. The amenities provided were exactly what we needed for our short stay. She even provided beach towels, a beach mat, and snorkel gear! It did not get hot enough at night to require AC, and there's a ceiling fan which cooled down the space quickly. The coquis frogs add a jungle-like ambiance, which was weird at first, but became comfortable white noise after awhile. There is enough space for parking in front of the bungalow.
