  Comments: The house is gorgeous and stays in a serene community. The oceanfront is very beautiful. We are a group of ten and the house is big that four beds fits us well. The (Hidden by Airbnb) map gave us a dead end to the house but the host sent us the direction clearly before we came. And Mahi helped us book the lava boat in volcano NP. She is so nice and gave us recommendations of activities in Hilo.

  Comments: Gorgeous oceanfront property! The house is immaculate, and spacious! The entire property is huge, with a beautiful view. The pool is amazing!! Loved the fire pit! Super quiet. We never saw or heard our neighbors. We had breakfast outside on the patio every morning. Close to Hilo- restaraunts and shops! This place really is to die for. We will definitely be back!

  Comments: Our group of two families loved staying at Mahi's house. First impression when you open the door is a WOW- a very pretty and spacious great room with high ceilings, lots of comfy couches and a big kitchen, all of which overlooks the pool and courtyard and lawn (all secluded) through a wall of windows and glass doors. Very relaxing! Though you couldn't see the sea from the house, it was a very quick walk through the property to stand on cliffs overlooking the ocean. We had mongoose coming through on occasion, several colorful lizards, a fascinating snail, and no mosquitoes. The bedrooms were all spacious with plenty of bathroom space and the kitchen was well-equipped. We stayed in the main house, with three bedrooms and the guest apartment above the garage, which is in a separate building, and which has its own kitchenette and bathroom. We ate all of our dinners in and loved a rainy morning spent playing in the pool and just hanging out. The house was probably about a 15-min drive from Hilo and we went on outings to Richardson Beach for the sea turtles, Hawaiian Brain Freeze for crazy portions of shaved ice, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Akako Falls and the Kapoho tide pools. Nothing was more than about an hour away. Mahi was helpful, responded to all of our questions promptly, and left all sorts of goodies and drinks for us, which we all appreciated! We have only good things to say and would definitely return to this house on future trips Hilo-side.

  Comments: Peaceful Pepeekeo Hale is where you want to enjoy your next stay while on the Hilo side. Private home with an amazing ocean view. A step off of the lanai its swimmimg pool is waiting for you to enjoy anytime of day.

The house served as a perfect home base for our daily adventures, allowing us to cook in or eat out, enjoy the ocean cliff views, and cool off in the pool when we wanted a break.   Comments: If you seek typical Hawaii tourism.. luau, catered meals, noise, crowds? This piece of pure paridise isn't for you. Mahi's home is splendid. Be prepared to shop at the farmer's market, cook for your family and spend quality time together poolside and exploring the rocky coast. My teenagers thouroughly enjoyed the grounds and everything the Big Island had to offer. Mahi could not have been more helpful. Would 100% recommend this beautiful home.

  Comments: Perfect house and location for a week long stay. We had two busy families with teenagers. The pool is perfect, the short walk to a beautiful coastline, rural setting, lush landscaping and hospitality made this a vacation to remember. I only wish we had booked longer. None of us were ready to leave.

  Comments: We stayed here on a family vacation and it was wonderful! The house was very clean and offered us a quiet, cozy stay. We loved the pool! The property is very well maintained and the beds were super comfortable. Communicating with the owner was so easy and she was always quick to respond if we had questions. For the most part the house is fully stocked with everything you could need (beach towels, dishes, cookwear etc...) but we did find that the spices were limited and some of the cooking utensils were flimsy. If you plan to cook meals, just keep this in mind. The house is secluded in a private neighborhood, but is only a 20 minutes drive to Hilo. There is a scenic route to Hilo that starts right near the house and this made the drive into town even more enjoyable. Overall we were very happy with this home and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little privacy, quiet and space. We will definitely stay here again!

  Comments: Quite secluded place, which is the best advantage and disadvantage at the same time, but Mahi was eager to help us getting there. The house itself is one of places I've ever liked the best. All the facilities are well prepared and my family enjoyed the pool a lot.

  Comments: This house was perfect for my colleagues and I when we visited the Big Island for work! Mahi was exceedingly helpful during our stay and responded quickly to any question we had. The home itself is spacious and comfortable with a great kitchen. The pool was great to cool off after a long run along the coast. The sound of waves crashing against the cliffs lulls you to sleep each night and the sun peeks over the trees as you sip coffee on the porch every morning. Five star place with five star host!

Plus, Mahi was kind enough to do our grocery shopping in advance. This was wonderful because we didn't arrive until midnight and our groceries were already there.   Comments: This is a great house on the Hilo side! Mahi was great to work with. If you are looking for beaches and umbrella drinks this is not the house. This is secluded (10 mins to Hilo) but close to the botanical gardens and Akaka falls. The scenery is breathtaking and it was a great week long stay with my family.

  Comments: Our group of 10 had a wonderful stay at this spacious home. This was our first Airbnb rental and it was a 5 Star experience. We were surprised that the bathrooms were equipped with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The towels were creatively folded and there were local chocolates and fresh tropical fruit. An extra nice touch was that the hostess had some tropical flowers and a “Happy Birthday” balloon for my dad as we were there to celebrate his 80th birthday. There was also some paper, crayons, sand buckets and pool toys that were perfect for our two 5 yo’s. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were some basic staples and spices. The living room had a large TV with satellite channels. It was a bonus having a washer and dryer and there was even laundry detergent that we could use. Rooms were all clean and spacious. Each bedroom had a king size bed and had plenty of extra linens and blankets. It was great that there were beach towels that we could use as they are so bulky to pack. The home is located in a scenic, peaceful setting and we enjoyed walking on the cliff walk, exploring and watching the waves.

The very private grounds are beautiful with great views of the ocean. 10-15 minute drive to Hilo, if necessary. A few hiccups were promptly attended to by Mahi. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

  Comments: Open concept huge space with tons of windows. Huge green backyard with a wonderful pool. Fire pit is awesome and the grill was convenient for us to cook on. Tools, lightbulbs, and extra linens were stocked. Ceiling fans provide a nice cool breeze along with a natural breeze from outside. It rained 90% of the time we stayed, but it was relaxing and we enjoyed it. We didn’t quite pack for it tho. Close to the ocean, the walk was short and muddy. Exhilarating view from the cliffs. We would stay here again and we will tell all our friends about this lovely home.

  Comments: This home is truly gorgeous. It has a warm and homey feeling to it. The pictures don’t do it justice. We loved being able to have all our family together to enjoy meals and relaxation time at the pool. The pool is a great option to have, when the ocean is rough. The renters have the best set of instructions on the home that I’ve seen. Everything was clearly explained in detail and we referred to it often. This home is better suited to individuals looking for privacy away from the crowds. It’s a little bit away from downtown Hilo. About 20 minutes out, but well worth it. We loved our time there.

  Comments: Beautiful home and fantastic host! Mahi is extremely fast in responding, thorough in details, and very hospitable. She had a bowl of local fruit, a sweet note, the closets stocked with pool towels, basic spices, laundry items, boardgame cards crayons for kids, and pool toys waiting for our family. The salt water pool was perfect (and deep!). The rooms and common areas are roomy, well lit, and open. We had kids, infants, and adults in the house and it was great for all of us. Loved that it was a gated home in a gated community. It does feel secluded (nearest grocery store was in Hilo and almost 30 min away)but that was part of the charm. Only callout is there is no A.C. (not a surprise as we already knew this) so if you tend to have a hard time on warm/humid nights - just fyi.

  Comments: Beautiful place and great host. Mahi is so considerate with many basic needs in the house. We just bring food and our own luggage... The house and studio feel like personal housing with super nice appliances and furniture. Mahi also added many little thoughtful touches through out the house. I will let the next guests experience it without ruin the surprises. Mahi is always a text away when we have a question... Love the pool with nature surrounding. And no light pollution for the starry night photograph. I was even. captured Milky Way and the glow from Fissure #8 using my LG Go phone camera (manual setting)... Love the place, and we will return for sure. Mahalo nui loa, Mahi.

  Comments: We loved staying here. In spite of being away from town, the location was central to all the places we wanted to go on the island. When we got home, it was so wonderful to be able to jump in the pool and enjoy eating outdoors. The kitchen was well equipped so we were able to cook with no problems. The only slight problem we had was that we had trouble finding the place the first time. Our gps tried to lead us on non existent roads. I might suggest that you include some written directions with the other advance information. Would love to return!!!

  Comments: Thanks so much Mahi. Hospitality was great. Our experience was that the home was roomy, airy, and had everything we needed. Beds were super comfortable and the sound of the ocean and frogs at night lulled us to sleep. Light breeze and ceiling fans kept us cool. Flowers, trees, ocean views and privacy were exceptional. The pool entertained our teenage boys. Location was just far enough away from the hustle and bustle -but close enough to Hilo for a nice drive into town for restaurants, supplies and experiences.   Comments: Beautiful property. Great pool. There's no AC, but we were there in the summer and as long as you keep the windows open it stays cool enough with the ocean breezes. The cliffside view of the ocean is beautiful - a bit over 100 yards to the end of the property. Mahi was very responsive and attentive to our needs throughout the stay.

The kitchen had just about anything we could’ve possibly needed, the bedrooms were spacious and open with so much natural light and air flow, and the outdoor space was serene. There were times we wanted to go out into Hilo to explore but got caught up relaxing and swimming in the pool. Mahi was always so quick to respond to messages and questions, and her welcome book detailed everything in the house that we could’ve needed help with. The directions from the airport were especially helpful after dark. I had such an amazing time here and couldn’t recommend it enough. I wholeheartedly plan to go back!

  Comments: The house was awesome!! Check in was easy with thorough explanation for access. Mahi was quick to respond to any communications. Beautiful views of the ocean, and it was fun to walk down to the cliffs and watch the waves. We had high winds for a few days with some power outages. Mahi provides a generator for the house so we still had electricity. This was the nicest house we've stayed in on trips to Hawaii and we would not hesitate to return.

  Comments: Our family would highly recommend a stay at Mahi's place in Pepeekeo. After spending 4 nights in Kuilua Kona, it was refreshing to stay at Mahi's place with so much land around. We enjoyed the private swimming pool (even after dark since it is lit!) The ocean is visible from many spots in the house or on the property and we could hear the waves at night as well. The house was CLEAN and well stocked for us upon arrival. The house is beautiful inside as well outside. My son and I enjoyed hunting lizards on the back porch with a flashlight after dark. We saw amazing stars after dark as well. Not only is the property nice, Mahi extended amazing hospitality to us when she found and mailed us a beloved toy that was left by us on check out. She got it promptly in the mail so we'd be without it as little as possible. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.
