  Comments: Wayne was very accommodating, despite his several attempts to call me while my cellphone was off. And then again, when I came back around 1am, and didn't have the keys, Wayne was there to open the door. All I needed was a bed, access to a bathroom, and internet access, and Wayne's place was spot-on! New York summers can be hot, but thanks to the A/C next to the bed, I was able to cool down and sleep well.

  Comments: ENGLISH: The City Room - Semi private Couch is the perfect place if you are traveling by yourself and you don't want to spend a lot of money in a hostel o something similar. When you are in NYC, you want to be near of the center, but it's very important to have a nice and relaxed place to spend your nights. This place is in the center and is relaxed too. Wayne was very nice with me and he helped me every time when i needed. Everybody in the building was nice and polite with me, and the neighborhood are safe too. You will enjoy here. The city is fantastic, but is good have a place to feel like home. Español: La habitación "City Room - semi private couch" es estupenda si viajas solo y no quieres gastar mucho dinero en un hostal o algo similar. Cuando estás en NYC quieres estar cerca del centro, pero es muy importante disponer de un lugar tranquilo y agradable donde pasar la noche. Esta habitación está en el centro y además en una zona tranquila. Wayne fue muy agradable conmigo y me ayudó en todo lo que necesité. Todo el mundo en el edificio fue muy simpático y educado, y el vecindario es seguro. Vas a disfrutar la estadía. La ciudad es genial, pero está bien tener un lugar donde poder sentirte como en casa.

  Comments: Mon séjour à NY était super ! Je suis ravie. De plus, Wayne est un hôte génial. Il est hospitalier, chaleureux, disponible pour répondre aux questions, discret pour ceux qui préfèrent rester dans leur coin, amical avec ceux qui préfèrent discuter et partager leurs expériences. N'hésitez pas à lui poser des questions ou à lui demander des tuyaux. La maison est propre, ainsi que la salle de bains, avec une cuisine spacieuse et équipée. J'espère que vous aurez la chance de croiser d'autres locataires chez lui qui soient aussi sympathiques que ceux que j'ai rencontrés moi-même. Le quartier peut donner une première impression de dangerosité mais en réalité, il n'y en a pas. Il est juste moins animé que le centre ville et moins éclairé. Les gens sont sympathiques et respectueux. La ligne de métro est à 5 minutes de marche et vous êtes à Times Square en 20 minutes. Amusez-vous bien !

  Comments: one word : A-MA-ZING!!!! mWayne is a really nice person, warm and respectfull. You have a bed in living room but you feel like in your own bedroom. There is a little cat (Scooby!!) so you have to be friendly cat,but he sleeps a lot so he will not disturb you! It's a clean place, very easy to go to Times Square (15 minutes with subway). The neighboorhood is very good, restaurants, starbucks, on th 125th street there is saturday a big market and lots of cheap shops!! There is a permanent police at 2 minutes of the place so you are in a very sae place, even at night! Wayne have prepared a party and invited me and some student freinds lots of girls and they went at 1am/1:30am and arrived at home safely. If you don't feel subway you can always take a cab. Thanks Wayne for your great communication, your energy and your party!!!

  Comments: I was positively surprised by Wanye's professional manner in managing the checking in process and provide detailed information on directions and check-in process. That was tremendously helpful for someone on a busy one-day pully packed schedule. I also enjoyed my chat with Wayne after arrival. As a host, he is really friendly and personable. The townhouse was kept clean and organized. Though the couch is semi-private, I pretty much had privacy except for when two other guests came in late at night. But Wayne made an efforts of noting for them to keep the voice down. I really apreciate that. Last but not least, the "couch" is more like a twin bed, and quite comfortable. Really happy with my stay, especially at a very reasonable price.

  Comments: It was great had been into Waynes house for some days in my first trip to New York City. Wayne's apartment is well located. just four really short blocks to metro. So you are close to every place in New York. As I have allergy, I was affraid in share a space with Scooby, but as the house is very clean, I had no problem at all. Harlem is a safe place with great places to go in the evening to listen to music and see people. When I return to NYC, I hope I can be in Wayne's house again.

  Comments: My father-in-law is senior citizen and needed a place to stay while visiting family in NY. The first night after dropping him off at Wayne's we were hoping that he would not feel afraid or alone being a senior citizen. The next day, my father-in-law had all good things to say. He slept comfortable and well, and said that Wayne treated him very well and even made him coffee in the morning! :) It was great to hear this and it completely took our cares away for the duration of his stay there. We observed other people that were staying there and they'd gather in the kitchen eating and talking like they're right at home. That was great! Wayne has a very nice and spacious place. We found him to be a wonderful host! One that will go out of his way to ensure your stay at his place is a good one! We'd like to extend our utmost appreciation and gratitude to Wayne for his absolute politeness and kindness to my father-in-law. My father-in-law says: Thank you and God bless you!

La maison est bien entretenue et moi qui suis trés à cheval sur la proprété de la salle de bains et les toilettes ai été trés satisfaite. Pour les femmes seule qui hésite a réservé chez Wayne ne craignez rien. Wayne est trés cordial. Harlem est un quartier trés vivant, la maison est à côté du métro et d'un supermarché pour y faire ses courses. PS : Wayne est pro Iphone et moi blackerry donc on a bien débattu sur le sujet :)

This time I wanted to explore Harlem and, hence, I chose to stay there. Wayne's place was simply perfect for me. It is located conveniently and has everything a traveler might need.   Comments: What can I say, everybody else already said it. Like I had once, right now you're probably contemplating if you will do this yes or no. In doubt, just go for it. Especially in a city as New York, it's good to arrive at a place where you're welcomed. After my stay for 10 days, I felt like I was leaving home. A lot had to do with Wayne. He is this natural born host. During my stay he threw a house party for all the people in the house and I could also invite a friend. The stay in the house is basically highly relaxing experience. I would defenitely book Wayne's again in my next NY trip. By the way the pictures are a 1 on 1 representation of reality and above that the house is clean constantly.

Sa maison est bien entretenue et très bien située dans une rue calme d' Harlem à proximité d'une ligne de métro menant très rapidement au coeur de Manhattan. La chambre où j'ai dormi (semi-private room) présente l'inconvénient de n'être isolée de la cuisine et d'une pièce commune que par un paravent, ce qui ne permet pas toujours d'avoir un sommeil paisible. Par contre, elle est d'un prix attractif et s'avère calme lorsque les autres hôtes ne fréquentent pas trop les espaces communs. Globalement, le bilan est donc positif et je conseille cette adresse, en privilégiant les chambres privées pour ceux qui prisent la tranquillité nocturne..

  Comments: Came here to New York (or the States in general) for the 1st time and was warmly welcomed at Wayne's place. Wayne is such a nice, funny and great host, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. When I was there, other guests stayed at his apartment as well and we would have conversations in the evenings and a few drinks to keep them going. I really liked the feeling of staying with other people and share my experiences with them I had made during the day or just talk about live here in the USA. But everyone would respect your need for privacy without any question if you needed it. The room was super clean and the bed really comfortable! There's nothing to worry about the neighborhood as I wasn't troubled there for a second. I would definitely go there again, even just to hang out with Wayne once more.

Wayne and his staff are the best, and it was fun meeting some of the other travelers over a BBQ one evening with recorded and live acoustic music! If you are ok with the hostel experience (as I am), the semi-private couch is for you.

  Comments: I went to New York on holidays, and found this airbnb on really short notice, so I was glad it worked out that quickly and that easily. Wayne is a super accomodating host, although I didn't see him much as he he also super busy. However, his team helped me out, whenever I had a question. The area of this room is a beautiful, family-friendly area in Harlem, about 4 blocks from the next subway, which was very handy. Safety concerns were completely out of place, even at night I never saw any sketchy people around. The semi-private room is a bed in the general living room that is hidden behind screens in the corner. I didn't find it too loud at all to sleep there, if anything, it was the nearby staircase into the living room that made some noise. I didn't mind that, though, as it was always only early evening and morning, when there was some noise (and obviously I didn't come to NYC to sleep in till noon). The house itself is a gorgious brick house with lots of floors and rooms, the kitchen is huge (and you can use that, too) and it even has a backyard. All in all I found it a pleasant stay at Wayne's place, the price is very reasonable for New York standards (don't forget you're in Manhattan!). I can absolutely recommend it!

  Comments: Værelset levede fint op til mine forventninger, behagelig seng, fint med opbevaringsplads gode bad og toiletforhold, samt adgang til køkken - og ikke mindst baghave med græs. Wayne er sjov og meget lattermild og vi kom rigtigt godt ud af det sammen. Lørdag morgen lavede han morgenmad til os der boede der, så jeg mødte et fransk par og et canadisk par, samt Waynes veninde. Vi havde en rigtig hyggelig morgenmad, med gode snakke. Stedet ligger 5 min fra indkøb og subway. Restauranten Red Rooster som er omtalt i Lonely Planet ligger lige om hjørnet. Det var spændende at bo i Harlem og helt uden problemer. Det er ikke sidste gang jeg har boet hos Wayne.

  Comments: Wayne is such a wonderful host, I had a great time in Harlem. I'm a Jazz pianist so Wayne introduced me to the owner of a Jazz bar up the road from his place. He also has parties to introduce the people staying in different rooms and apartments to each other while he makes some reel American soul food delicacies! It's a nice area, the view of Manhattan as you walk up the street to 125th street station is awesome When I go back to New I'm definitely staying at Waynes again!

The apartment was decorated with the true flavor of the Harlem Reniassance. My sheets and the place were immaculate. He was fully booked with guests from Brazil,Germany, Canada and me from California. Im sure that sometimes scheduling issues arise but Im confident that Wayne will bend over backwards to make sure his guests are satisfied. I highly recommend staying at Wayne s place, look the price is great He makes you welcome into his homes and private lives, and he always had a cheerful approach any situation. The Bathrooms were immaculate and everyone had a nice comfortable stay in NYC. He can tell you how to negotiate the City. And has a cheeful approach to every situation. So if you want stress free NYC living, with someone who can handle any situation positive or negative. then like the movie Wayne World, forParty, then Waynes Place for a nice NYC and Harlem Stay. He right in the hub Harlem activity. Lenox Street, The Apollo, The Schomberg, The Cotton Club and easy access to the Subway System to The JFK airport, Times Square, where ever you need to go. And you know what everyone has a kind word to say about Wayne, me to, I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to stay in NYC.

  Comments: Wayne is a sweet guy and he was greeting me with a nice cold beer and he even invited me to his BBQ party. This room actually is a shared room with a separator in his living room. I switched to another private room as soon as I arrived. It could be much more fun if I had chosen to stay there. The location is great, near a subway station and within 3-5 mins walking distance to busses, grocery stores, and restaurants though the neighborhood is not as good as I expected.

He provided clear instruction which helps me arrive from JFK efficiently through the notoriously complex subway. The neighborhood is definitely safe even at night, but it is definitely not the usual touristy area. The unit is near 2 metro stations, ~5 stops away from Time Square, which made my trip extremely convenient; I was able to come back for naps in the middle of the day from Manhattan without wasting much time. The house is very clean and bright. While the bed is next to a big window facing the street, it is very quite at night for good rest. Wayne has also provided bikes and breakfast on Saturday morning for all guests; although I was too tired to join, I have no doubt that everything is 5-star excellent.

  Comments: First night when I arrived his place, I was a quite late. But he was waiting for me patiently. He provided me a very comprehensive orientation about his place and neighborhood area, including restaurants and other stores. His location was particularly convenient access to my clients and business meetings in NYC. His neighborhood was quiet and decent in the community of Harlem. I was a bit surprised to see so many restaurants near the area, even Japanese restaurants. (I am consulting for Japanese restaurant business.) Overall, I had a very positive experience at his place, and this was my first time stay using Airbnb. I will most likely return his place for my next trip to NYC in the middle of this July.   Comments: I've had a very good time at Wayne's Place. He is a very nice guy and a great host. The place is located in Harlem so you have access to restaurants, bars and groceries. The trainstation is very close. If you are staying with Wayne, you should participate at the Saturday breakfast with all guests.

La "Semi Private Room" est très simple, largement suffisante pour un voyageur seul... L'appartement en revanche est très vaste, très propre, la cuisine est grande avec un petit jardin agréable. Le quartier est calme, situé à 15 mn de Central Park et 5 mn du sub. Je vous recommande vivement Wayne...

  Comments: This was my first visit to New York, my first experience of using Airbnb and I was travelling alone, so was a bit apprehensive. Wayne was a wonderful host: welcoming, patient, knowledgeable and totally committed to making sure all his guests had what they needed. The apartment was clean and well cared for, my bed was comfortable and even though I was in the semi-private room, genuine efforts were made to respect my privacy. I really enjoyed the community breakfast that Wayne puts on every Saturday morning and the chance to meet and exchange tips with other guests. The apartment is really well located, close to shops, restaurants and a subway stop on the 2/3 line which gets you to Time Square in 20 minutes. I look forward to staying at Wayne's place on my next visit to New York and almost feel like I'd be staying with friends!

  Comments: Le logement est situé à deux rue du métro c'est donc pratique si on veut se déplacer, le quartier est sympa (magasins, bar, restaurant...). L'appartement est grand, propre, et comprend tout ce dont on à besoin pour être installé confortablement (éléctroménager, salon, salle de bain équipée, cuisine équipée). Wayne est sympathique et facile de conversation, il m'a laissé un délai supplémentaire pour quitter l'appartement le jour de mon depart, afin de profiter de la journée.

  Comments: I had a great time at Wayne's! This was my first experience with air bnb And I really did not know how the process went. Wayne was very helpful in showing me how everything worked. Check-in was seamless because he walked me through everything. The living quarters were very clean and the location was awesome. Harlem is a very energetic city and a cool place to hang out. But if you want to see other parts of NY, the subway is a short, four blocks away. I had no problems making It to mid-town Manhattan for my event. Any time I am in NY, I will stay at Wayne's. You should do the same!

I have spent a lot of time in the area prior to my visit and can say that everything he has written accurately represents the neighborhood and everything it has to offer. Good food, easily accessible and a quick trip into midtown or other New York hotspots. The apartment itself was beautiful and offered a lot of opportunities to live like you would at home. Plenty of kitchen space and appliances with which to cook. The room was exactly what I was expecting. Overall it was a great experience and Wayne was there to completely enhance it by being friendly and available.

He was easy to talk to and provided everything I needed. The room was semi-private, but I pretty much had the basement and a half bath to myself. There was a closet for all my clothes. It is in a beautiful brownstone in the heart of Harlem with a close proximity to Red Rooster, Harlem Social, and Slyvia's. A great, clean, cheap spot to stay if you are visiting Columbia, City College, or the national gem that is Harlem.

Wayne and his place exceeded expectations - he is kind, funny, calm and an absolute hosting pro! He's been doing this for years. The other guests in the house were also very nice - anywhere form Germany to Australia. Wayne cooked brunch for all his guests on the Saturday I stayed there. I stayed in the semi-private room, which actually had more privacy than I anticipated. The area in Harlem is vibin, too - cool restaurants and bars to choose from; an easy commute downtown as well! Could not recommend any higher.

  Comments: Das war meine erste Airbnb Erfahrung überhaupt, und ich war deshalb zu Beginn ein wenig nervös, ob alles gut klappen würde. Vom JFK bin ich mit der Bahn angereist und weil ich aufgrund einer Verspätung meinen Anschlussflieger verpasst habe, bin ich erst um 3 Uhr Nachts bei Wayne abgenommen. Ich hatte ihm das aber von London aus geschrieben und er hat mir auch sofort geantwortet, das er den Schlüssel in einer Schlüsselbox für mich hinterlegt, und hat mir zu dieser den Code gegeben. Fand ich super. In der Nacht ist er dann sogar aufgestanden, als ich angekommen bin, und hat mir mein Bett gezeigt. Ich habe dann den Schlüssel für das Haus bekommen und konnte mich auf meine Entdeckungstour von New York begeben. Das war vom Haus aus auch sehr gut zu erledigen, da 2 Subway Stationen in der unmittelbaren Nähe sind mit denen man in nur wenigen Minuten direkt am Times Square sein kann, was ein immenser Vorteil ist. Das Internet bei ihm ist sehr schnell, was mir geholfen hat Mithilfe des Internets meine Tripps gut zu planen. Ich habe mich im Haus von Wayne sehr wohl gefühlt. Man kommt sich vor, als ob man bei einem guten alten Freund übernachtet. Er ist hilfsbereit wenn man Hilfe braucht, aber sonst sehr diskret. Ab und an mal, habe ich andere Gäste in der grossen Küche gesehen, die man auch benutzen kann, und wir haben uns gegenseitig über New York ausgetauscht, was man am besten wie besichtigt, aber da das Haus sehr groß ist, ist man sich sonst kaum über den Weg gelaufen. Es ist alles sehr sauber, was für mich mit am wichtigsten war. Das Bett was ich hatte, war in keinem abgetrennten separaten Zimmer, sondern in der hinteren Ecke des Wohnzimmers, das sollte man vor der Buchung wissen. Aber das hat mich persönlich nicht besonders gestört, weil ich eh den ganzen Tag unterwegs war. Dafür war mein Aufenthalt dort auch unheimlich günstig. Für wen das aber nichts ist, der kann bei Wayne aber auch ein normales Zimmer buchen, da er noch einige anbietet. Für den Zeitraum, für den ich gebucht hatte, waren die anderen Zimmer aber schon vermietet, so das mir nur dieses angeboten wurde. Was wie gesagt für mich voll in Ordnung ging, da ich immer sehr spät abends erst zurück gekommen bin von meinen Trips und morgens immer früh raus, da ich meine Zeit gut nutzen wollte. In der Nähe gibt es einen Supermarkt wo ihr alles einkaufen könnt was ihr braucht, falls ihr Zuhause frühstücken oder essen wollt. Die Sachen könnt ihr im Kühlschrank aufbewahren und auch wenn ihr mal Zuhause Verschnaufen wollt könnt ihr das im Wohnzimmer von Wayne bei guter Musik tun, alles kein Problem. Ich kann die Unterkunft nur wärmstens empfehlen. Wayne ist ein sehr guter Gastgeber, der einen sofort das Gefühl gibt, willkommen zu sein. Wir hatten uns auch einige male unterhalten und er ist ein wirklich netter, intelligenter und sozialer Mensch mit den Herzen an richtig Fleck. Wenn ihr ein Zimmer...

He was attentive to all of my needs as a guest constantly asking if I needed anything. One of the things that stood out for me was the amazing art that decorated his walls. It's eclectic and clean. The location was great! I'd recommend anyone who wants to soak up the sites of Harlem to stay at your place. Trains are within walking distance and restaurant row is right around the corner. Unfortunately I only got to meet himself for one day, but there was another person there supervising the appartment that was very welcoming as well. The appartment is conveniently located in Harlem, in short walking distance to several Metro stops. The neighborhood is lively, but can get a little noisy at night. The room and the kitchen/bathroom was very clean and tidy. You will be sharing the appartment with other guests and the stairs/floors make quite some noise. If you are a light sleeper, that might not be optimal for you.
