  Comments: MY experienc while staying was good. was very grateful to Paulette for allowing me to store my bags. when i went to pick them up, they were outside in the rain and my electronics (laptop, straightener etc) were ruined beyond repair. the place isnt in the best area and i felt uncomfortable walking there at night by myself, but the bed was comfortable and I enjoyed my room. No windows in room, which may be something for other guests to know, I was okay, I was there only 2 nights.

  Comments: I arrived with heavy bags on a hot summer evening, and Paulette welcomed me with much-appreciated glasses of iced tea and cool water. She was a friendly and helpful host throughout my stay, and gave me plenty of useful advice about public transport. The room itself is clean and comfortable, with a large bed and good-quality mattress. It's in a basement, so even without air conditioning it doesn't get too hot in summer. There's also a large electric fan if you do need to cool off. The only downside was a strange chemical smell in the room - I never figured out where it came from. Despite being close to JFK airport, you can't hear any aircraft noise from the room, and I got a good night's sleep on all three nights I stayed. There are other guest rooms in the basement, however, so please be considerate and try to keep quiet late at night. The house is in a pleasant neighbourhood, with just a short walk to local shops and a convenient bus service to Jamaica Center Metro station (for E, J, and Z trains). Overall, the room was good value and I enjoyed my stay.

  Comments: First, let me say, for the price, I expected my lodging was to be modest, to say the least. I chose this AirB&B because of proximity to friends; and I was planning on late nights and early mornings, anyway. However, the strong; and I mean strong, mothball smell; and the stale, questionable sheets are the primary reasons for my reduced ratings. To put it gently, I despise the scent of mothballs, with a passion! If you use them, more power to you; but at least put it in the description. The smell was so pungent, in my room, that there were urine undertones to it; (or at least I hope those were the mothballs) and half a bottle of Febreeze couldn't mask it. Being there five days, I begrudgingly accepted it; and once I left for the day I just put it in the back of my mind. However, today when arrived at the airport I realized the scope of the smell. Despite all my Febreezing, mothball funk had gotten into everything; my Bose Quiet Comforts, Sperrys, backpack, suitcase, everything! I can only imagine how I smelled to my friends; smh. As far as the bedding, not only was it mothbally; but it was also hard; as if it hadn't been washed in months. Because my arrival/leaving time was an average of 2am to 6am; I just repeated my nightly mantra "It was only 280 for six nights; it was only 280 for six nights". Other problems were tiny room with no circulation; only a box fan for air; and a shower Simone Biles would have trouble fitting into. Obviously this review may seem as an exercise in dissuasion; but actually, it's not. It's more of a "If you're ballin on a budget in NYC; only need a place to s3 ... sleep, shower, and s***" review this is a good place; just be at peace with smelling like your grandma's house and living like a Spartan.

  Comments: I've spent one night in this room, it was clean and nice. Its close to JFK airport, so if you have a car you can get there in 5-10 minutes. I did not have a car and my arrival was rather late, but Paulette was very kind to me, she is a very nice host. The only thing is that the room is underground, so you cannot open a window( But its not very important for 1 night. With a window this room will cost much more))

In the fridge I had peanut butter, jelly and bread always a jug of fresh water. The peace I needed I found and I also recommend the Deli which is close to the house.   Comments: This is a budget place to stay before/after a JFK flight. It is one-fourth the price of a hotel in that area so do not expect hotel-like service. The hosts were helpful and very quick to respond to questions. Just a heads up, I felt the room was very cold in the morning, so bring your own blankets/heavy clothes for sleeping. But overall, the price justifies everything!

  Comments: I chose Paulette's place due to the proximity to JFK Airport. As I read "Flexibe check in" in the add, I had no previous worries about arriving early in the morning. Bedroom was not available (about few minutes to 8 am) and host showed certain bad humor due to the time of my arrival. Finally, some minutes later, I could settle my things at the booked place and enjoy the city. Also, the heating system and courtains (there was a light outside in the corridor during all night) must be improved.

  Comments: If you are looking for a clean crash pad this is not the best option. However, if you just need a bed after a long overseas flight then you cant beat the price. I was about to spend $220 on a hotel before I found Paulette's listing. All in all, her place got the job done. Its proximity to the airport is convienent. Just not the cleanest or most comfortable stay I've had with Airbnb.

It is a little difficult to drag the luggage down the stairs before getting to the room , but again , for the price , it's better than expected.   Comments: Die Unterkunft von Paulette ist schlicht und einfach eingerichtet. Man kommt hier zur Ruhe. Mit dem ÖV dauert es ca. 1.5h, bis man in Manhattan ist. Falls man in NY ist, zum die Stadt und die Sehenswürdigkeiten zu sehen, ist die Unterkunft dafür nicht geeignet. Nichts desto trotz war mein Aufenthalt gut. Paulette ist sehr hilfreich und kann viele Tipps geben. Sie ist sehr fürsorglich und bei Fragen und Angelegenheiten ansprechbar.

  Comments: I was here for a very short layover -- I arrived late at night. The directions were good and the place was easy to find in the dark. There was a lighted sign with the address. The entrance has a very narrow staircase. The bathroom was clean. The bedroom and sheets all appeared clean, but there was a strong cologne/air freshener odor in the room that was not completely covering up a urine smell (described by an earlier reviewer). There was a box fan in the room, which kept the room from being too hot. I only saw Paulette for a minute as I was waiting for my ride to the airport. She was friendly.

  Comments: As advertised. A clean room and bathroom which is 7 minutes from JFK (this was helpful as my taxi driver initially thought it was 20 minutes away). Paulette was very helpful with many things, including the provision of the number for a local taxi driver, as I could not use my über account. Check-in and check-out was smooth. Would happily recommend and if I needed somewhere to stop over again near to JFK, I’d most certainly come back.

  Comments: On the plus side the room is really very close to JFK, the bathroom was clean and there was a clean towel waiting for me. However the bed linen looked like it had been intensively used for several decades and there was no slipcover on the pillow, which was barely a pillow anymore, so I wrapped the pillow in the towel and kept all my clothes on to sleep. This also turned out necessary as the unique, meagre, dirty looking blanket was so thin I could not warm up. It would be a smart move to invest in some proper, warm linen and a pillow... as well as making sure there is TP and soap in the bathroom...

  Comments: Der Aufenthalt bei Paulette war sehr angenehm, sie ist sehr gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit. Die drei separaten Zimmer befinden sich im Keller und es gibt leider kein Tageslicht in den Räumen. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig sodass es für Menschen mit leichten Schlaf angebracht wäre Ohropax mitzunehmen. Das Badezimmer ist sehr klein aber sehr sauber und völlig ausreichend.

  Comments: This house was lovely. Great value for money. Paulette was nice and friendly and always communicated effectively. A great host. Check in was swift and she showed me around. She even let me check in earlier than i should as I arrived very early. She also let me stay in the apartment after I checked out as I had a late night flight back home. The house is a walking distance from the Busstop. Shops and fastfood are within the area, and you can get all you need. I will definitely be back again if I'm in town. Thank you Paulette.

  Comments: I used Paulette's place to crash after getting back from a long international flight and I had a domestic flight the next morning. For this purpose, it is absolutely perfect. The photos are very accurate and you will have no issue getting to and into the place. The room is private-- you can close the door and Paulette is communicative and friendly, welcoming. However, that's not to say that you could not be better prepared for your stay. If you sleep cold, bring warm clothes maybe even an additional blanket and as in all semi-shared environments like this, bring also an eyemask and earplugs if you are sensitive to light or noise.

  Comments: Paulette was amazing from the beginning. She was so sweet and welcoming and even told me to help myself to anything in her fridge! I booked the night because I had a 6am flight to catch and had to be awake by at least 4:30am. I was in such a hurry that I left an empty shoe box and the bed unmade (sorry Paulette) I'm usually one to clean around and tidy a place before I check out, (just because I feel it's a nice thing to do) but unfortunately I mismanaged my time and was unable to do so. So again, Paulette I sincerely apologize for leaving my room a little messy. Thank you again for your warm hospitality :)

Paulette was super fast with responding, and graciously accommodated my request for a late self check-in arrival. I never met Paulette, but she was very nice and thoughtful with her responses. Good layover location. 10 min Uber ride $15 from JFK.

  Comments: I had booked this apartment for my friend who stayed from 8-11 December. He found Paulette to be a good and friendly hostess. She is very dedicated to the upkeep of the space, which is clean and neat. The place is conveniently located, close to the airport, has all amenities near by and even has a park right across. On the whole, a comfortable stay!

  Comments: I hate to leave a poor review, the place would be fine for the amount of money paid, its clean enough and close to JFK. The issue was that I was very cold all night because all that is provided is a VERY thin thread bare blanket, and I mean thin like not much more then a sheet. This was January in NY and that does not do it. I slept with my sweatshirt on and the towel that was provided on top of me to try and get some extra warmth, but really did not sleep. It is hard to tell from the picture because the sheets (which are much nicer in the picture) look like a comforter. They are not. What you get is the thin blanket that is folded up on the bed in the picture. It seems others are happy with this rental. Again, it would have been "ok" for me except for this. Also be aware that their are drapes in the room which are not completely solid and I had to hide in a corner of the room to change clothes as I was worried that the person in the kitchen could see through them into my room.
