Comments: Our Ohana House stay was very comfortable. One of the beds is surrounded on 2 sides with windows! So perfect to wake up in the morning to a beautiful view of the Ohia forest! We had a wonderful fire in the potbellied stove at night to take the chill off. We played games, fixed our meals and generally had a totally comfortable and relaxing time. It felt as comfortable as "home" with books and magazines to read and games to play. During the days we went out "gallivanting". We were a 20 minute drive to Ho'okena (a white sand beach where the dolphins come to swim). There were coffee farms near by and we were able to easily access South Point (where the first Hawaiians landed on the island!) This is a very conveniently located area for access to many of the Hawaiian island's attractions!

Comments: Wanda contacted me early and was very gracious to meet us and familiarize us with the property; great with communication. Guests should know up front that "off the grid" means solar charged battery at night, never a problem for us; and rain water catchment (drinking water is provided seperately.) Recycling and composting is actively practiced. Since evening chill is taken off by use of a wood stove, guests might wish to check exit procedures and test smoke alarms.

Comments: Had a wonderful time in this secluded, unique home. There was so much personality and I had a blast exploring the house. It was a perfect distance from the main city of Kona and Hilo. Close to a wonderful Blacksand beach and of course the Punaluu bakery! Wanda was a perfect host always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. She also kept me updated on things that needed to be fixed in the house. If you are a low maintenance traveler this is the perfect place to stay.

Comments: This is a creative place to stay with many nooks and crannies to explore. Wanda is an artist and it shows. It's off the grid, so don't expect the Hilton, expect a non-traditional home that you will remember and enjoy. The photos on the site are accurate. Have fun!

Comments: We had a great time at Wanda's place. It's off the grid, quiet, cozy and clean. Wanda let us check in earlier and even provided delicious fruits. Lots of interesting books to browse, great place to see the stars at night and bird watching from the bed in the morning was awesome.

Comments: I recommend this stay especially for travelers who have been on the go for a while and need a few nights to recharge, and anyone else who is looking to relax and have privacy. The property is secluded and quiet (other than nature sounds of birds chirping, etc.), it is eco-friendly with solar energy, wood burning stoves, catchment tank, etc, with recycling and compost. The comfort of home without feeling like you've left the great outdoors. Also, a brilliant night sky from a private balcony. It's like camping, only in a big comfortable house designed by a local artist.

Comments: I enjoyed my stay at Ohana House, and I would stay there again. Guests should keep in mind that this is a rustic, off-the-grid place. And the location is remote from many of the more popular tourist spots (i.e. longer drives to get places). But if you are feeling adventurous, or are look for a very quiet and peaceful setting, this is a good choice.

Comments: Lots of people could stay here without a problem. There was plenty of room. It was nice to be able to come "home" in the evenings and warm up some soup or heat water for a cup of hot chocolate or tea. Unfortunately, there was an issue with getting hot water to the shower. We had plenty in the bathroom sink and in the kitchen. But not the shower. We improvised by washing there, but a hot shower would have been much nicer.

Comments: We went in October, and it is cold and a long way out. It is more like glamping and not a vacation B&B. The refrigerator is run on propane and is very old and unreliable, where a bungee cord is used to keep the freezer door closed and sealed. There were spiders and spider webs throughout the house. When my daughters sat on the couch and moved a pillow, there were spiders moving everywhere and she killed three of them. It is very dusty, and one of the mattresses was soiled and should not have been offered for sleeping. Multiple dog excriment (poop) was in front of the entry door which we go in & out of and was never removed. We brought our concerns to both the attention of Wanda and Airbnb as I believe we were exposed to health dangers that should be brought to the attention of the County and State Agencies Of Hawaii. Photos were taken and presented to all parties involved. We were so uncomfortable we began looking for other accommodations after one night. While bringing these multiple problems to Wanda's attention, she was unwilling or concerned enough to resolve any of the problems we identified and we were charged for three nights which was her minimal requirement. I absolutely do not recommend the Ohana House as a vacation stay and in fact raise a RED FLAG WARNING. It appears to be a bait-and-switch where you stay one night and then charged for three.

Comments: Wanda’s “Ohana house “was amazing!;) She is a great artist. I was so happy to be there. But I just want to say one thing. It was a pretty dark at night. And cold ( Nov). So you need to request to her about many candles ( there were just some candles and light). Phone battery, warm clothes. Enjoy!

Comments: Ohana House is wonderful for that secluded getaway you’ve dreamed of. Bring beer and a deck of cards because there’s nothing around you but stars, quiet and the company of folks you brought with ya! Luckily, my friends are awesome and we had an amazing time. Read Wanda’s description, because the cabin is EXACTLY as advertised. If stargazing, falling asleep around a roaring fire, short drives to beautiful destination hikes and sometimes a rooster wandering around (that you aren’t particularly sure where it came from or exactly where it disappeared to but it’s in the mix anyhow) are your idea of vacation - then book Ohana House today! If you are looking for close access to a white sand beach and a Piña Colada while you watch beautiful surfers touch each other playfully, Yacht Rock playing in the cabana behind you - thisisnotwhatyouarelookingfor. Vacation responsibly and book the place that’s right FOR YOU. For us, having a short drive to South Point, Black and Green Sand Beaches and epic Volcano hikes was what we were looking for. But remember, this is a cabin. Pack like you are glamping and enjoy Wanda’s beautiful, kooky and wonderful home.

Comments: This place is great if you are looking for a camping vibe while on the island. Starting a fire for warmth, washing your dishes and showering in rain water and using flash lights at night. For those that are not used to living out of a city enviroment and do not like "different" this may not work for you. But if you can handle the old style of living it's worth a shot to discover what you are able to handle

Comments: The location is exactly as described. It is off-grid. I liked the cuteness of the house except the fact that it was either cobwebbed or stained wherever I could sit or sleep. Though there were a lot of towels available some of them had holes in it. For the price I paid I would expect something cleaner though it’s off-grid.
