  Comments: 4 amis et moi avons loué l'appartement de Mathieu et y avons passé de très bons moments. Les chambres étaient propres et agréables. J'avais des doutes sur le bruit, mais la chambre dans laquelle j'étais étais super calme donc j'ai pu bien dormir. Quant à Mathieu, un hôte super sympa avec d'excellentes adresses (Adega Viuva pour un dîner et la capela incomun pour le reste de la soirée, notamment). Un grand merci et je n'hésiterai pas à revenir chez toi!

  Comments: Conversation with Mathieu was always quick and helpful. We didn't meet him during our stay but his friend Ana more than made up for that. Friendly welcome, lots of useful tips and she even brought us the world's most delicious lemon tart for Easter. The rooms are small, but cosy and clean. Kitchen supplies are basic, but who wants to cook when there are authentic restaurants just around the corner. Biggest bonus of the flat is its location in the historic center. So close to everything you want to do and see in Porto. With a bit of luck and Ana's guidance we found free parking close by and then just walked every day. Rainy days in March can be quite cold, so the electric heater in the flat was appreciated.

  Comments: Communication with Mathieu was super easy. We met Pierre who gave us the keys and he was incredibly helpful and friendly - he gave us lots of tips! He mentioned that the apartment had a few minor watch-outs: like unlocking the apartment door (however we had no issues at all) and you need to nudge the toilet bowl as it can get stuck (this was not a big deal). The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. The location of the apartment is perfect. The only downside is that there is construction work in front of the house and you can hear the neighbors - however this is not something that the host can fix :-) Thank you for letting us stay!

  Comments: Mathieu's place was in a great location; quiet street yet near the action. The beds are very big and comfortable. Lots of rooms, big spaces (unlike the pictures), and still cheap. Great washing machine with balcony clothesline. The bathroom has a bathtub and a very nice sink. When we got there a friend of Mathieu's greeted us so don't worry if the profile pic doesn't match. He set us up with a map and local recommendations based on our needs and interests.

Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und liegt direkt im Zentrum der Altstadt, so dass man sich gleich wie zu Hause fühlte. Super gerne wieder! Mathieu is a very nice and friendly host, in case of questions he response very quick and was very flexible and welcoming. His apartment is very nice and cozy and in the centre of the oldtown - it made me feel like home. Thank you again for making the short stay so great! :)

  Comments: L'appartement est vraiment très bien situé au coeur du centre historique de Porto ce qui permet de presque tout visiter à pied. L'appartement est très joli, bien décoré, dans une rue très typique et charmante. Par contre, il est totalement insonorisé. Durant toute notre semaine de vacances, l'immeuble en face était en travaux. Tous les jours dès 8h du matin, nous avons eu le plaisir de partager le bruit des marteaux piqueurs et des marteaux. Ce fut très ennuyant et surtout très fatiguant. Autre petit bémol, si l'appartement est fait pour recevoir 6 personnes (3 lits 2 places), il est impossible de se réunir à 6 pour manger puisqu'il n'y a pas de table (à part une petite table en plastique pour 2 personnes). L'appartement est sinon bien exposé puisque le soleil donne sur le balcon une bonne partie de la journée.

The apparent in general is great with modern rooms and a very modern kitchen, and the location is optimal for exploring the city with many restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Mathieu is great and was very quick to respond to any messages.

  Comments: Appartement très bien situé au coeur de Ribeira, proche des principaux centres d'intérêt, des rues piétonnes, des restaurants etc. Il est situé dans une rue calme (malgré quelques travaux en face en ce moment). L'appartement est conforme aux photos et propre. Nous y avons séjourné à 6 : les chambres et la pièce principale sont bien, cuisine et salle de bains sont un peu justes pour 6 personnes. Notamment, impossible de prendre un repas à 6 sur cette petite table et difficile de cuisiner (équipement minimal). Ceci dit, il est plus sympa de profiter des restaurants du quartier. Mathieu nous a bien accueillis et nous a aidé à réserver un taxi pour notre départ. Au final, bon séjour à Porto et bon souvenir de l'appartement.

  Comments: We really enjoyed our stay in Porto. The apartment is within walking distance of the river , port caves, many restaurants, shops and Sao Bento train station. It is in a narrow cobbled street in the old part of the city where everything is either up or down hill so be prepared to walk everywhere which is the best way to discover all the hide local places. It is a short walk to get the bus # 500 to Matosinhos and the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and the fresh fish restaurants where it is all cooked outside on the street. The apartment was clean and comfortable and certainly adequate for our needs.

  Comments: Math's place is a nice location with walking access to great spots in Porto, and there is accessible parking just around the corner if needed. The space can be a bit chilly in the off season so make sure to pack plenty of layers. Math was very accommodating and great at communicating.

  Comments: This apt is in a great location with good natural light from the front. In between river and upper city - easy walk everywhere. Apt is a shabby chic style. Mathieu was helpful over phone but we did not meet him although he said to call if we needed anything. Would stay again if in Porto. Bed linens could be of higher quality ( especially compared to a similar Airbnb in Lisbon). Kitchen is functional but there were not enough plates, mugs or wine glasses for the 5 of us so some extras would be nice. He left us a supply coffee, sugar, tea which was nice. Bathroom is functional but tight - great shower and good hot water supply. Bath towels were heavy and fluffy.

  Comments: Stayed here with our teenage children. Location is brilliant, close to everything you need including restaurants, shops, sites and transport. As Central as it is to the key tourist area, it is quiet, and bright, but with the shutters closed nice and dark for sleeping. Mathieu was easy to get hold of and made suitable recommendations on where to eat and what to do. We liked it enough that we tried to stay longer, but unfortunately for us it was already booked out. Would happily recommend to friends.

  Comments: Apartment is in a good location however road is very steep, much like most of Porto. We didn't meet Mathieu however he was accessible by message/phone and responded quickly, even booking a taxi to the airport for us. We used 2 of the 3 bedrooms and found the beds comfortable. Only 1 bedroom has external windows. The bathroom floor area is very small although the shower which is over a bath was roomy and had hot powerful water. Kitchen is roomy for cooking and has microwave, stove top and oven however the eating table is small and would struggle to seat more than 2 or 3. Excellent new washing machine. Unfortunately the wooden stairs for entering the building and to the apartments mean it is noisy when people are coming and going and you could hear the people in the apartment above walking around. Maybe an issue for light sleepers. The apartments front rooms (lounge and a bedroom) have a bit of a view through to the river and to buildings in the distance which was nice especially at night seeing the lights. Close to Restauarnt Fado, the river and 10 mins walk with bags to Sao Bento train station and metro.

  Comments: In general, good experience! Great great location, very friendly host, delicious breakfast, just loved the map and tips where to go. Only one problem - the place was inhumanly cold. No central heating, wind blowing through the windows and only tiny mobile heater. This shouldn’t be any problem for guests traveling during summer, but in December this was a big issue. Apart from that, all good!

  Comments: Appartement spacieux très bien placé dans une ruelle calme depuis laquelle on aperçoit le Douro. Très propre à notre arrivée. Par contre nous avons récupéré les clés trop tard (18h30) et je déconseille cet appartement en hiver car il est dépourvu de chauffage. Nous avons eu très froid fin février malgré le beau temps.

  Comments: Logement très bien placé entre le Douro et le centre ville. Confortable et tranquille. Comme beaucoup d'appartements portugais, pas de chauffage dans le logement, mais un pull supplémentaire suffit pour un mois de mars. Mathieu a de très bonnes adresses à proposer et a été dispo pour répondre aux questions pendant notre séjour. Toutes les bonnes conditions étaient réunies pour passer un bon moment. Merci encore.

  Comments: In general, We had a great time staying in Mathieus flat. For the price it’s an awesome deal. The location is simply superbe (everything is within 10 minutes walking distance). Also Mathieu was a wonderful host providing us with lots of useful advice and information. The flat is neatly furnished although you have to realize the 4th bed is actually a very old sofa. In addition, the rooms do not have heating so at night it gets quite cold. However, if you’re looking for a budget solution in the heart of Porto it’s definitely worth a look.

  Comments: We spent a week in lovely city of Porto. There were totally four of us and the main plan was to attend Oporto Tattoo Festival and explore the city at the same time. The apartment is located perfectly and it suited our needs as we figured. Apartment has three bedrooms with double beds, kitchen and living room with a sofa to sleep aswell. You can access to balcony from living room and one of the bedrooms. Place was nice and tidy and had all the basic needs but no tv or stereo system to listen to music. That didn't bother us cause we spent most of the time outside. Apartment was bit cold but i guess all of the houses in Porto are. So take wool socks with you and you'll do just fine)) Mathieu was very friendly and helpfull fella and gave us tips and directions if we needed. Overall the apartment is pretty much as descripted in the info. So if you want to visit Porto at a decent price and excellent location and dont need a Television, this apartment is everything you need. We really did enjoy our stay!

Yes there are hills and steep cobbled streets - that’s Porto. It is an old apartment with high ceilings, clunky windows and older style furniture, but it is clean, spacious and comfortable. Mathieu is an excellent host, quick to communicate and respond. He provided lots of local tips and arranged an alternative internet connection for us when there were problems with his internet service provider in the apartment. Very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Porto.

  Comments: We greatly enjoyed our stay at Matthieu's Flat. It is a large flat right located in the centre of Porto, up a very steep cobbled street adding to the historical feel of Porto. The historic part of Porto is made up of a number of steep hills, mainly cobbled. The Douro river is just down the road from the flat, together with the majority of the main attractions in Porto. The flat is quite cosy, with antique furniture, adding to the charm of the area. The flat has all the amenities as listed. The only issue for us I would say is that is no TV, but if this is not a necessity, then there is no issue. Matthieu is super nice, helpful & responsive. He has placed a number of maps and information in the flat to help you get around. Matthieu was always available whenever we called or messaged and was super helpful. All in all, I would say this is a good choice.

  Comments: It is a very large flat with lots of space and the location is excellent! The downside was that the bathroom was quite tight and that two of the bedrooms are not very well ventilated.

  Comments: Mathieu was very accommodating! We had arrived several hours earlier, and he let us drop off our bags and stay at the place even though it wasn't ready. He was also very quick to respond to messages. The place itself was very nice and unique. It is near to everything, and there is a market a few blocks away. I highly recommend you stay here! Close walk (up and down hills - it is Porto, after all) to lots of tourist attractions, while retaining a very local, neighbourhood feel. Highly recommended!

  Comments: Mathieu”s Place is in a perfect location for exploring Porto which we did mainly by foot. There’s are loads of places to eat and drink nearby and Mathieu was really helpful with regular tips about the best places locally and further afield. The old town where the apartment is , is a great place to explore but it’s really worth venturing elsewhere also and the buses are good and easy to use. We went to the beaches several times using the 500 bus. The flat itself is a perfect size for 6 people and there is a bed settee I believe but we didn’t use it. I think more than 6 would be overcrowded. Every thing we needed was provided. We didn’t need to ask Mathieu for any changes but he was very approachable and friendly and I am certain he would sort any problems out quickly. He sent us regular messages with ideas for things to do and places to go. Although we didn’t do everything he suggested it was really lovely to have the thoughtful messages.

  Comments: Lovely flat to stay in and a short walk from the majority of sights to see. Mathieu was an attentive and responsive host, always responding shortly after we asked him a question. He had great recommendations for things to see that are less touristy and even helped me find a store where I could print a boarding pass for my flight home. The apartment itself is cozy and well appointed. The beds are comfortable and all of the amenities worked very well. Definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a home base while you are visiting Porto.

  Comments: El piso, salvo el baño, es tal y como aparece en las fotos. Con muchísima personalidad, encanto, muy auténtico. Todo muy limpio, la ropa de cama, toallas.. La situación es perfecta.Ahí un 10. En pleno centro, cerca de todo!! Si tienes suerte puedes aparcar en la misma calle del piso y sin pagar nada, lo que es un punto grande a favor. El anfitrión genial, super amable, disponible para cualquier cosa, te ayuda en lo que necesites, te recomienda buenos lugares para comer... Como puntos negativos a tener en cuenta, porque a mi me hubiera gustado saberlo.El baño es mínimo, muy muy pequeño, uno solo se mueve con dificultad y ahora en otoño invierno hacía frío dentro de él, para (Website hidden by Airbnb) un piso antiguo, que como la mayoría no cuenta con calefacción, el dueño te proporciona un calefactor portátil de ruedas, pero no es suficiente y nosotras no somos frioleras para nada. Para ir en meses de calor lo recomiendo sin duda, pero ahora mismo, salvo que, al menos cada habitación contase con un calefactor, no lo puedo recomendar. Son pisos que se quedan fríos, no nos hizo nada de sol, que hubiera calentado la cristalera.. y hacia más calor en la calle que dentro. Te despertabas por la mañana y toda la casa estaba congelada, para desayunar en la sala no era muy confortable... Creo que son puntos a tener en cuenta y que es importante saber.

  Comments: Mathieu's place is just as advertised. It's quiet and calm, tucked away on a little street, but with easy walking access to anywhere we wanted to go in Porto from the shops to the riverfront. There weren't too many extra frills in the flat -- it had everything we needed for a weekend -- but the space was fun and a bit quirky, so we really liked hanging out in it, especially when it rained for a good few hours! That wasn't Mathieu's fault, though :) This place is great for friends traveling who want their own bedroom. Check-in was easy, with one of Mathieu's friends, and then we were good to go. Don't hesitate!
